The otyugh lumbers forward, using its eye tentacle to peer down the tunnel separating it from you. "MEAT?" the otyugh asks. It hesitates, not yet committed to squeezing through the narrow corridor to reach the tasty flesh morsels.

Tessa's crossbow shot clatters off of the cave wall, missing the otyugh.

"Another one of these reeking garbage eaters?" Corwin grumbles as he hustles into the room. It takes him some time to maneuver into a position where he can see the otyugh around the corner.

Another spell emanates and discharges from Niv's hand, this time a white aura softly shines around him before it dissipates. He then unstraps his shield and dons it with his eyes still fixated on the lumbering monstrosity.

Hopefully my new companions are able to wear it down before it reaches us.

Trey just enters into the room with the group. as the bearer of the light source. she tries to position herself to give the whole party the best light possible.

If she can see a part of the creature within 30 feet she will whisper strange words in celestial. filling the creature's mind with dread.

The otyugh bobs its eye-tentacle as if it were nodding. "TASTY!" It struggles through the narrow corridor towards the sound of Bosch's voice, immediately met with attacks from both sides by Bosch & Typhon and a gout of flame from Tessa. "DELICIOUS..." it gurgles as it dies, now just a reeking heap on the floor.

But the noise seems to have alerted other denizens of the Dead Warrens. An ominous buzzing sounds marks the arrival of two mosquitoes the size of cats. One latches onto Trey, sticking her with its needle-sharp proboscises and beginning to draw blood.
#1 touch attack on Trey: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Automatic 1 constitution damage from blood drain. The 'mosquito' is now attached and considered to be grappling Trey. She can attempt to use grapple or escape artist to escape it or can attack it. Others can attack it as well, stats are below.

The other buzzes around Niveus, looking for an opening to attack.

Niveus, Trey, Corwin:

You can see that two pale blue humanoids with bulging white eyes and wild hair have followed the mosquitoes here. The one in front wields a large hooked club, the other a crossbow. Seeing Trey already busy with the mosquito, the creature with the small crossbow fires at Niveus.

An arrow flies over Niveus' head, clattering harmlessly into the wall behind him.

"Blast," Bosch muttered, realizing that the denizens of this foul place had prepared a pincer of their own. One of the 'striges' is quickly crushed and between the two newcomers, the second is rendered a cat-sized smear upon the cavern wall. Bosch tries to move into place to aid the others but finds his movement stymied by the crowding.

"Roscoe, sic 'em," Bosch says coldly, pointing to the small humanoids.

From the point of view of the derro, it must have been obvious that they were handily outnumbered by the larger humanoids. Then, from deeper in the came a rumbling growl as suddenly a four legged terror burst from the ranks of the pink-skinned surface dwellers. In a second the beast was upon the lead derro, rearing up to well above the unfortunate being's head and coming down nearly on top of him, snapping and biting. The powerful jaws quickly found and opening and latched on, tearing into flesh.

The second stirge dies under assault from Trey and Typhon. Meanwhile, Roscoe takes a ferocious bite out of the derro wielding the club, which is followed by a solid smash from Niveus' staff. Blood drips from the gash on the derro's head and a large bruise is forming around its left eye. It shrieks in pain, swinging its club at the enormous beast that leaped out of the darkness, but misses.
Club vs Roscoe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Noticing that the stirges are dead, the derro with the repeating crossbow takes aim at Trey, but she easily sidesteps its poorly-aimed bolt.
Crossbow vs Trey: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Corwin removes the wand of magic missiles from his backpack and uses it against the derro with the club. The missile of force strikes the derro squarely in the face, adding to the injuries Niveus Roscoe had already inflicted.

If Trey did not stay on her feet, things could get messy. Without an easy method of getting to the derro, Bosch would have to trust Roscoe to get the job done.

Roscoe lands on all fours and ducks under the sloppy swing of the derro. In the flickering light, the big mastiff's eyes flash as another thundering growl rolls out of Roscoe's broad chest. His snarl revealing just how big his bloodstained teeth were to the derro. Suddenly, the beast explodes forward again, snapping at the soft belly of the derro...

Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

...and clamps his teeth on something soft indeed.

With another blow from Niveus' staff, the club-wielding derro slumps to the ground, not moving. The remaining derro looks terrified - his already bulging eyes look even wider.

Bosch, Niv's blow knocked the derro out. I will assume that Roscoe instead took a five-foot step and then bit the remaining derro. Speak up if you'd like to do otherwise.

As Trey moves back, Ty will move forward, popping one of his wrist sheathes to put a normal dagger into his hand. He will then overhand throw at the remaining Derro.

Typhon's knife sticks squarely in the derro's arm. Having seen its companion fall and being overwhelmed, it turns tail and flees from the direction it came.

This will provoke an attack of opportunity from Roscoe if he'd like to take a nip.

"Blast it!" Corwin moves up closer to Roscoe, attempting to catch a glimpse of the fleeing derro, but it has disappeared down the tunnel to the east.

Niv straps his shield back where it rested previously, his Shillelagh still radiating in his hand. He takes a bend, leaning on his free hand and looks back at the others.

"I swear, one never truly gets accustomed to ambushes."

A smirk dons his wood-like face as he obviously found his own words humorous.

"Perhaps we should not rush headlong into another? Typhon - that was your name, correct? Perhaps you would like to scout ahead. Nature knows I could use a moment to recuperate."

Niv takes a quick, vary peek down the tunnel - before he strolls casually back towards the others.

Roscoe tries to bite at the derro one last time but his jaws close on thin air. The dog, obviously unhappy to let his prey escape and potentially earn the much maligned title of 'bad dog,' charges after the derro, pausing only when he strays too far into the dark and then waiting for the others to catch up.

Sorry Trey. That's one of those "oh there's a mystery tunnel here and we won't explore where it goes in this adventure but feel free to add your own content." So it should just be a dead end, but I don't have any good way to edit the map.

Roscoe bounds down the hall after the derro, Bosch chasing after, and the rest of the group following behind.

Three wooden tables stand in the middle of this room, their surfaces stained red with old bloodshed. To the east stands a ten-foot-wide hutch with wicker doors opening into a strawlined cage. A body lies on one of the tables, a stirge attached to it and feeding.

Not seeing the derro, Roscoe trots through the room and comes face to face with his prey around the corner of the table. He barks happily to let Bosch know that he is a good dog!

The derro is not happy to see the dog. It edges towards the stairs. Lacking the room to properly aim the crossbow, it stabs at the ferocious, slavering beast with an arrow. But the arrowhead is deflected off of Roscoe's barding.

Niv pursues Bosch, Typhon and Roscoe into the room - halting inside to allow Tessa, Trey and Corwin to pass by him as they follow.

Assuming Bosch and Typhon charges into battle, that is.

We are out of combat now, so explore at your leisure. Feel free to post what you are doing in each room at the same time to keep things moving. Recap of the rooms and the corridor the derro was fleeing to (see the map if you're confused):

A. Otyugh Room
The majority of this room contains a nasty-looking stretch of mud—a partially collapsed sinkhole—kept damp by rivulets of water seeping from the walls. A patch of solid ground extends into the mud to form an island, on which is heaped a reeking pile of body parts. To the north, a rickety wheelbarrow sits on its side against the wall.

B. Exsanguination Chamber

C. Skull Corridor
The walls and ceiling of this tall hallway are encrusted with dozens of yawning skulls, their mouths open into dark holes in the walls.

Terror beast strikes again!

Roscoe turns to look to Bosch, the derro leg still held firmly in his mouth, tail wagging and stubby ears perked up. Despite the nanny routine Roscoe pulled around the kids at the Fishery, it seemed the dog was still one of the more dangerous things the group had at their disposal.

"Drop it," Bosch said to his dog sternly and, to his credit, the Roscoe promptly set the derro leg on the ground. He takes a moment to praise the dog, kneeling to scratch Roscoe just under his barding.

"Who's a good boy? Roscoe is, yes he is." Roscoe looks as though he is about to explode. "Alright, easy boy," Bosch finally said standing back up and looking around the room.

"Should I be worried about that?" Bosch asks Corwin, pointing to the feeding stirge.

A. Otyugh Room
Bosch pokes his head into the sinkhole the Otyugh had been occupying and, faced with the stench, gives it the once over as quickly as possible.

Bosch stops just outside the corridor when he sees the decorations along the walls.

"Hold on, everyone. I don't like this."

Tessa peeks into the room gingerly, unwilling to step foot in.
"Desna's starry smile, what kind of creature can LIVE in this kind of filth?" she asks incredulously.

B. Exsanguination Chamber
"I see no reason to let that stirge live. Last thing we want is more baby stirges flapping around this place."

assuming it's helpless since we're not in combat?

Tessa walks over to the bloated stirge and dispatches it with a point blank crossbow shot.

C. Skull Corridor
Tessa hangs back as Bosch searches the room, taking the chance to pat Roscoe on the head and slip him a morsel of cheese.
