Milo and Quinray lead the way into the clearing where the kobolds have obviously removed all the moon radishes that were once growing here. A primitive trail exits the far side of the clearing and disappears into the woods. Milo sees signs of the kobolds recent flight down the trail and heads up the trail.
Perception checks for the party please.

Milo Keen-Eye |

Milo takes his time stalking the path of the kobolds, taking Tirnel's words about ambushes to heart:
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
The KEEN eye!

Tirnel Stargazer |

Tirnel enjoys the time amidst all the wilderness, quite different from what he was used to in the cities he has spent most of his life in.
perception untrained: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Milo Keen-Eye |

Watch out! There is a pit trap right in front of us. If we make off towards the right, there is a concealed path that will take us right up to the cave. Hopefully without death and dismemberment.
Milo leads the party up to the cave entrance.
perception in the cave: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Milo Keen-Eye |

Not quite the ambush I was expecting. Time to go to work...
Milo unsheathes his falchion and puts his blade into action.

Tirnel Stargazer |

Tirnel attempts to disable one of the little creatures with some simple magics.
Cast daze DC 16 Will
This spell clouds the mind of a humanoid creature with 4 or fewer Hit Dice so that it takes no actions. Humanoids of 5 or more HD are not affected. A dazed subject is not stunned, so attackers get no special advantage against it. After a creature has been dazed by this spell, it is immune to the effects of this spell for 1 minute.

DM Darkvision |

will: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Tirnel's spell dazes a kobold.
Milo opens a second kobold from chest to groin, disemboweling it.
Kentaur, Ibram, and Quinray flail about wishing they could cleave some more leaves off trees.
The two kobolds capable of combat yell out and stab with their spears towards Quinray and Kentaur, penetrating Kentaur's stout armor at the shoulder joint.

falchion PA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 4) + 9 = 17
But his inexperienced stomach is turned by viewing the carnage of his previous strike.

Tirnel Stargazer |

These creatures seem quite susceptible to my dwimmer; I shall attempt to befuddle another of their scaly kind.
Daze on kobold not attacked in melee; DC 16 Will.

Tirnel Stargazer |

Tirnel attempts to daze the last kobold.
perception untrained: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
But his focus on the foe completely distracts him from anything else going on.

DM Darkvision |

Kentaur and Ibram hit the last kobold low and high, ending its life.
With the exception of Tirnel, the party sees 4 more kobolds getting ready to enter the cavern from the exit passage on the far side of the cavern.
kobold init: 1d20 ⇒ 6
party init: 1d20 ⇒ 16 (except Tirnel who is surprised this round)

Milo Keen-Eye |

Sorry Erastil, but Abadar indeed!

These kobolds must breed like mayflies! Be careful there may be some trap ahead; a murder hole possibly in the celing!
Milo switches to his longbow and fires off an arrow:
longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
1d8 ⇒ 6
Move action falchion to longbow; standard action attack with longbow

DM Darkvision |

Ibram and Milo combine to take down one the kobolds. Kentaur heals while Tirnel's mouth gapes open in surprise. Meanwhile, Quinray nearly shoots himself in the foot with his arrow as his bowstring slips from his sweaty fingers just as he begins his pull.
A flask of oil comes down from somewhere above the party striking the stone floor of the cave and splashing Milo, Kentaur, Tirnel and Quinray (1 point of fire damage each).
oil flask: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Ibram's armor and nimble dance moves keep him from being struck by the spears of the kobolds, he quickly glances back over his shoulder at his companions as if to say "how about some help guys?"

Kentaur takes down a kobold smashing in its head with his morningstar. Tirnel finally finds a kobold that shrugs off his spell. Milo gets a spear in the side while Quinray steps nimbly aside.

His blade flashes in a deadly arc, attempting to repay the favor.

The kobolds prove to be harder to hit than anticipated, but Tirnel manages to daze one. Clearly the kobolds do not like Milo.

This is why I prefer a bow...
