A classic of course, and given my little soiree south of the border I'll probably do Spanish as well. Is there anyway to capitalize on similar languages? Like how English, Spanish, and French share their roots in latin?

Nice question, and it indeed makes sense! I'm from Brazil and since our native language is Portuguese, there is a lot of words in Latin that are pretty similar, just as an example.

The game does not seem to have synergies built in kind of linear in its approach to the rules. I of course as the DM am free to make rules as I see fit. Let's give languages with similar roots a +15% bonus when attempting to understand the spoken word and a +20% when trying to understand the written word.
Also Players, I will be posting some of the Special Benefits as per the 1920's Investigator Companion for your chosen occupations tonight after I update the In Game thread in a few minutes.

I could know the cop though the dead husband
If you lived in NY while married and then moved to Arkham thereafter absolutely that would work OR maybe your husband was from New York and then moved to Arkham.

the Great Old One |

Was going to post but I want to wait till everyone gets their first post in before moving forward. In the meantime:
Celso Chellini: Criminal (Bootlegger) Special Benefit - Sanity losses from witnessing violence against Humans are reduced to half the loss rolled.

the Great Old One |

If our new player does not check in by tomorrow I will just move things forward for everyone else.

Korak The Boisterous |

Well Heating definitely. Some might argue a life without wifi means you go and live more. Of course, they're not us.

the Great Old One |

Now that everyone is on board I will try to get updated posts done tomorrow, ran out of time tonight as I have a few things I need to do before I get to bed.

the Great Old One |

Vet emergencies last night and this morning are an issue for me. Once my dog goes into surgery I will head home and uodate the thread taking the day off of work today so I will have time.

the Great Old One |

He is going to need a portion of his tail amputated luckily he has a long tail :-)
Poor guy can't go to surgery till tomorrow though so I got him some good drugs to keep him calm and some antibiotics to make sure it does get infected.
Will update this thread today for sure as now things have settled down and he is sleeping.

the Great Old One |

Bad week, have my table top D&D game tonight. Will update the thread Saturday night.

the Great Old One |

Once Celso checks in again we will bring the whole group together. Feel free to work out in the meantime if any of you know each otehr or just wing it once the group is assembled.

the Great Old One |

Christopher will post soon, he just moved so he is beat and I know the feeling having just moved recently myself.
I will give Celso a few days to post before I move everyone upstairs to the Suite.

the Great Old One |

Equipment
Addressing Phoebe's question from the IC thread, ahead and pick any mundane equipment you like to start with.
Anything you may think you need for the trip can be requisitioned by the expedition itself and if it cannot you will be informed and have a chance to pick up that item.
Don't I Know You?
As discussed in the OOC thread a few weeks back, some of you may well know each other IC. Feel free to RP that as you will.

the Great Old One |

I prefer knowing people, gives a attachment to other PCs but I can go either way I suppose
I agree,,makes for interesting role playing as well. :-)

Korak The Boisterous |

It's become more than that now. My computer is having problems and I can barely move out of the bathroom.

the Great Old One |

Will update tomorrow afternoon before my table top D&D game starts as I will be getting hoe a bit early.

the Great Old One |

We have a player MIA. I will give him a few more days to resurface. If he does not we will move on full force with 6 players. I will update the thread now.

the Great Old One |

Seamus how well do we want to know each other? so I know how to act?
I think acquaintances would be sufficient, someone who knew your husband but was not best of friends with him.

the Great Old One |

Once our last two players chime in, I will move to the next scene, wanted to give a bit of time for PC interaction before the plot begins to move forward.

Storyteller Shadow |

Terribly sorry for the delay in posting. I messed up my back. But I am sedated now so all is well.
No worries Phoebe!

the Great Old One |

Due to the Holidays and Phoebe's injury, I will give her another day to post in the Gameplay thread then I will move us forward.

the Great Old One |

Terribly sorry about that. Apparently my post was eaten and I did not notice. Sorry for causing lag.
Not to worry, the post monster has gotten all of us before and no doubt will again. Not much lag time over the Holidays due to much inactivity, could not have come at a better time!
I am feeling a bit under the weather myself and will likely update tomorrow anyway as I will be focusing on my Vamp thread for the next 30 minutes or so.

the Great Old One |

I will be away from January 1 to January 6.
Before I go, I will start the interviews and you can respond as you all see fit. When I get back the adventure will start moving along with the entire group together.

the Great Old One |

Phoebe, remember to put a check mark next to Spot Hidden. As we move to the next chapter you will get a chance to advance that skill!
It turns out my vacation got canceled so I will be here pushing game forward. :-)

the Great Old One |

Once you have all responded, the Prologue will be complete.
If there is nothing any of you wish to do over the next two months of Downtime, I will fast forward to September of 1933.
If you would like to do something but are not sure what to do, go ahead and make an IDEA roll.

Phoebe Barrett |

Idea: 1d100 ⇒ 82 That is a fail by seven. Damn.
I know I would want a chance to familiarize myself with the medical equipment that Phoebe will have access to. As well as some of the other team members. And Phoebe would spend some time looking into the other adventures of Moore and Starkweather, specifically the one in Africa. Along with maybe purchasing a few books, if possible, on survival on the Artic.
