History
Spoiler:
I'll expand later when I have more time, but basically Fergus volunteered for the Army, just out of Seminary, and saw some things that he'd like to forget. He saw some heavy combat, and was captured by the Nazi's for a while, before... something wiped them out, and he was able to escape. But did he really escape, or is he still imprisoned by what happened that day. Since then he's taken a position at a small church in upstate NY, but because of his experience, and the things he knows, he is often consulted by the church to "investigate" strange things. He'd really like to forget, or at least accept what he saw, but he can't settle down to a normal life as long as the questions remain. Sometimes the images from the past haunt him to the point that he drowns himself in booze to forget for a while. This is probably the main thing that keeps him from moving up in the church hierarchy. Perhaps the change of scenery would do him good. Arkham, MA. Had kind of a ring to it.
Appearance
Spoiler:
Tall and gaunt, Father Garrity stoops when he stands and walks, so he doesn't appear as tall as he is. It's as though he carries some weight on his shoulders. He is a handsome man with wavy brown hair, and sparkling dark blue eyes. He has a charming smile, the few times it is brought to life. His nails are constantly chewed down, and he chastises himself for this bad habit.
