1d20 ⇒ 11
Theadric opens the door and finds a trap before him. Indeed, what began as a trash pit quickly became the place for Vermund to dispose of the insects from his collection that died (and since he has a lot of them, many die every day). In organizing the defense of the lodge after Vermund was left in charge, he turned his dead insect pit into a pit trap to catch anyone sneaking around the living quarters.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul grunts and scowls as he looks over Theadric and sees the pit.
"I do not know traps. They are a cowards weapon." He briefly considers jumping across, but his spirit warns him against it and he steps aside to see if anyone else can do anything about it.
Rimble Sliffer |
Rimble claps hands for the bravery of the half-orc.
"Let's continue, my friends!"
GM Zinou |
Angus shrugs and jumps onto the pit trap.
Best trap dealer ever. :D
Rogzul consider to jump and as Rimble begins to clap in honor of the shaman's bravery, he steps aside and a gruff dwarf jump into the (not so well) concealed trap. He immediately falls and lands in a poll of dead insects that somehow slow his fall. Not deft enough to land on his feet, he tries to stop his fall with his bare hands and hurts himself.

How deep is the pit?
Rimble Sliffer |
Rimble went down from the Roc's back.
"Antoniollus, fetch!", he ordered to his companion, pointing to Angus and Fung at the pit's bottom.
@GM Zinou, so, I think Antoniollus could catch them, one at a time... Or not?
Rimble Sliffer |
Fang is still up top, peering curiously down at his ally.
Ow, sure! You're right, sorry. :)
Theadric Greyhood |
Theadric looks on jealously.
"Hey, can I get a ride over, too?! I've ridden a roc before, and am going to get one of my own soon. Please! Please! Please!" the halfling repeats.
Rimble Sliffer |
"Hey, can I get a ride over, too?! I've ridden a roc before, and am going to get one of my own soon. Please! Please! Please!"
Rimble looks at Antoniollus, who looks him back.
"Well... Yes... I think...", said the gnome, bewildered.
Once Antoniollus flight with Theadric then with Rimble, the sorcerer suggests "you can use the furniture in the previous room to improvise a bridge and cross this pit, fellas".
GM Zinou |
Fang fall in the pit and takes 1d6 ⇒ 4 damages, landing on dead insects, maw first. Guess what he has for dinner?
Antoniollus reluctantly passes Theadric and Rimble on the other side of the pit but won't take Fang. Vires, Angus, Rogzul and Seytiko are too big for him, though.
So, what of Fang, Vires, Angus, Rogzul and Seytiko? Ropes? jump? magic?
Vires Sangre |
I need some time off from work so badly...
Vires moves back taking a running lep across to gap,as his holy pet van be seen squealing over his shoulder holding on for dear life as they vires clears the jump
I hope...

Rimble Sliffer |
Well, I already suggested to them use the furniture in the previous room to improvise a bridge and cross this pit...
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul sighs and pulls his rope from his pack. Since no one else seems to have any rope he tosses it to those on the other side of the pit so they can pull Angus up and he tries to jump across, knowing he can at least make it up the other side if he falls.

ok good idea, it saves you some wounds but takes you some time.
Rogzul and Seytiko fill the hole with furniture and manage to pass.
The party walks past several beds in what seems to be the living quarters. Vermund's filthy, insect-littered is quickly identified. The only thing of importance is one crumpled up note near it.
“Do your duty. Protect the lodge. Your insect interests come second to that. —Melkorka”
As you enter the living quarters, you hear people groaning and someone laughing in the room beyond.
Theadric Greyhood |
Theadric takes a position next to Angus.
He looks longingly over his shoulder at the roc, wishing he could remain mounted.
"What now? Should we light the door frame on fire, then kick it in? For emphasis that we are serious?" he asks quietly.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Rogzul the Whisperer |
"I have fire." Rogzul answers Seytiko, holding his hand in the air with a grin. "Bugs burn easily, do not waste it on doors little one."
Rogzul waits patiently for any of his companions more suited to close range combat to enter first, still quite embarrassed from his display with the sickle in the previous room.
Rimble Sliffer |
Rimble takes the notes and reads it, "let me stay with this".
After hears the sounds coming from the next room and his companions' comments, the gnome suggests, "well, unless that a vermin could laugh this way, these little creatures could be the least of our problems".
He turns to Theadric, "and I have to disagree from your suggestion, my friend. Maybe a more furtively approach could be more effective."
The sorcerer comes down from Antoniollus' back and follow stealthily to the door, trying to spy what's in the other room.

"Waste fire?" Theadric says in response to Rogzul and Rimble, as if the thought had never occurred to him.
"There's always more fire, my friends," the halfling adds.
"Should I kick the door to splinters, then?" he asks.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Rogzul grunts, rolls his eyes and pushes past the halfling to open the door. Unless it's locked, in which case he slams awkwardly into the door and grunts again.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Now you tell us! :), Rogzul moves forward either way, I think we've been sitting here long enough.
GM Zinou |
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 Another failed surprise round xD too much goblin excitement, I guess ;)
Once in the room, Rogzul sees two goblinoids hiding behind the barrels and crates. One is a goblin with a short sword and a short bow.
The other creature is some kind of goblinoid, with multiple vestigial goblin arms jutting from his shoulders.
This creature is a glorfan, a mutated goblin that grants it strength and minor troll-like traits, although it isn't really related to trolls.
There are also some men in the room, one of them matching your description of Skagni.
When Rogzul points at the not-so-well-hidden goblinoids and alerts the party, they come out, laughing. "You new slaves!"

Theadric, disappointed at the lack of an appropriate entry (i.e. explosions), enters the room and surveys the enemy.
"The only thing worse than goblins that look like gnomes is goblins that look like gnomes with little tiny arms growing out their backs! Now get over here and impale yourself on my lance!" the halfling calls out.
He readies his lance to attack any that should come near him.

"Glorfan be better than goblins hahaha!" says the glorfan, impaling himself on the lance.
When Theadric is done with the impaling, he tries to maul him back only succeeding in biting the halfing.

"Excuse me, gentleman", Rimble says while pass by Angus. "Well, I think here is a good position", then he points to the creatures' direction and a vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from his hand, affecting all of his enemies.
Rimble casts Color Spray. Will DC 18 to negate. Area of effect: pink area marked on the map.
If one of them resists the spell, Antoniollus flies in the direction and bites it! If both resist, Antoniollus will bite the goblin.

Theadric Greyhood |
Just to be clear, it looks like I was hit by the third attack of a full attack, but I had moved into the room and readied an attack with my lance (a reach weapon). I think I ended up 15' away. Shouldn't that keep the enemy from a full attack?
GM Zinou |
@Theadric: On the map, the glorfan was 10 feet away from you.
Will Glorfan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Will Gob: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Rimble casts a spell and both goblinoids fall with a loud thump on the ground as color bubbles hit them straight in the face.
Combat Over!
The chained men wave at you and the person in ragged cloths matching the description of Skagni mumbles, pointing at the glorfan "Finish him already... he heals quickly..."
Once you coup de grace it (or capture him) and free the slaves...
Freeing the slaves results in cheers of excitement from the men. Despite their malnourishment and fatigue, they find the energy to give a hooray to the party. Rognvald Skagni in particular, is thrilled to see you all come to the rescue. "See men? These are true Pathfinders, not those frauds who attacked your home. I told you they would rescue us!"
"These men are from the Blood Ram tribe," he starts. "They said Pathfinders raided their village, killed everyone they could find and captured the rest here. I told them that didn't make sense. Told them these Shadow Lodge scum probably pulled that stunt off. But now they see what true Pathfinders are made of!" He cheers.
"Do you have the documents I requested?" He inquires. "Excellent, excellent! I'll have plenty of time to research them. But I think you need to get to the Keep of the Huskarl King as soon as you can. The Shadow Lodge leader spoke of some grand kind of weapon there. I don't know the details of this weapon, but I do know where the keep is. I'll gladly give you directions there."
There is a door on the south, still closed. "I haven't seen inside the room. Neither did that...thing." Skagni glances at the unconscious goblins. "I don't know what's in there."
A small, unlocked wooden chest sits in the northeast corner behind the supply boxes. Inside are five potions of cure light wounds, a wand of cure light wounds with seven remaining charges, and a scroll of flaming sphere.
We can call it here, or you can see what's behind the southern door. ;)
