Theadric Greyhood |
Hood cleans off his lance and glowers at any more humans considering picking on those smaller than they are.
He walks over to Hjort.
"Never mess with a stunt man," he grins. "Now, how about you tell us what happened to Skagni and his house. I'd rather not use my lance on you, too."
Rimble Sliffer |
"Wha-what? No! Please, no killingz me! I... I was never Hjort!"
"So, if you are not Hjort... Why are you taking his place? I mean, why are you disguising to pass by him? Tell us and we will help you."

"Dey sayz I do dis and after I can join the Shadow lodge. Runa and Hjort. Very kind. Dey paid me."
The man seems to tell the truth. When asked to give more details, he doesn't wait to reply.
"R-really! Well, this guy, Hjort. He kinda looks like me, minus the scar on the left cheek." The look alike smiles. "He and this lady, Runa White or something, they come into town and give me this great deal. I just sit in here for a couple of months, drink some ale, have a good time! They said they were preparing to go to the armory, dressed up as these... Path-fingers. Yeah, I think that's their name Path-fingers or something like that. They said there were gonna burn it down, but they were jokin'...right?"
You notice that the gears turn in his head. "Oh no. Wait, were they serious about that? Maybe that's why they were disguised as Path-fingers. So they would take the blame! They would be dragged out and hunted down. And Castellan Darkwine would lose so much power."
The look alike seems quite hesitant and somewhat guilty about what he may have done.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Raising an eyebrow at the frightened man, Rogzul looks him over and tries to tell if he speak the truth.
"If you are not Hjort, do you know where he is?"
Sense motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
GM Zinou |
- Man... You are in trouble, those two got you Path-fingered.
hahaha, I did not expect that. :D
The look-alike seems rather confused. "W-What? I don't know more about him. And as I just told you, they are at the armory. The one from the Castellan Darkwine, the lord running this part of land. I-I guess you should hurry!"
Any other questions? I think we can go over to the armory. :)
The front door to the armory is made of a heavy, thick wood and is bound by iron. At several points across the door, visible cracks and splintered wood can be seen. The battered door stands slightly ajar, opening inward to darkness.
Four men stand outside the door, weapons drawn. They seem to be investigating the door as the party arrives.
"Halt! Who goes there! Are you involved with the disturbance here? Speak quickly, or submit to the law of Castellan Darkwine!"
The men are wearing official Darkwine uniforms.
The men here are very suspicious of you and on high alert.
To make it short, the men here are hostile towards you, but they can be calmed down. You can also just fight them, if you want.
Rogzul the Whisperer |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Rogzul looks at the men and realizes how tense they are. Holding his palms up he takes on step toward them and pauses.
"Castellon Darkwine has made enemies. We are friends. We want to help." Rogzul then explains what they heard from faux Hjort and hopes that when he's done the men have chosen to stand down.

"Yes! As my big friend here said, we are here to help. With your permission, we can enter in the armory and check for any intruders. It will be a pleasure to help you", says Rimble to the men, with a pleasant smile in face.
Diplomacy (aid another - Rogzul): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Theadric Greyhood |
Though Hood hadn't been mounted in the bar, he once again rides his trusty pony, Zyzzyx. He listens as the others speak and tries to help.
"Yeah...someone is trying to move against this Darkwine fellow. We're here to help, in as spectacular a way as possible."
Turning to his companions, he whispers, "Did anyone bring explosives?"
diplo aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
GM Zinou |
Rogzul's plea, aided by Rimble and Theadric arguments, manages to calm down the soldiers, who sheathe their axes. "You have a point. Sorry for jumping to conclusions like that. Well, I guess you should hurry, then." simply says the man who seems to be the leader as they stand aside and let you investigate the building.
A short hallway greets you upon entering the armory. Bits of shattered wood and iron are strewn across the floor and disappear into darkness. All of the lights are doused, casting the armory into total darkness (it has no windows on the ground floor). You'll need some kind of light source.
"They see us?"
"Me no know."
"Quiet! Maybe they no see us but maybe they hear us. You no stop talking and they find us!"
You hear the whispers of 3 creatures, as well as a canine growl, on the west side of the first floor.
Rimble Sliffer |

Rogzul grunts at the gnomes need for light. "Eyes that do not see in the dark. How did gnomes live so long?"
As he gloats about his darkvision the hawk on his shoulder grows agitated and stares off to the west.
"Kashag hears something! We are not alone!" The half orc points toward the sound and waits for the frontliners to inspect.
GM Zinou |
"No! We be spotted!"
"We be no gnome!"
"WE BE GOBLIIIIIIIIINZZ!"
"SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!"
The voices come from both sides of the armory and three goblins and their mangy mutt emerge from the east and west sides of the barracks. The party is quicker to react, though, only Rogzul is surprised by the attack.
"You no say we be gnomes!" says one of them, genuinely pissed off.

"I was not expecting a gnome infestation!" Hood yells to his companions, obviously trying to rile up the enemy. "Cursed gnomes, with their green skin, balloon heads, and non-existent intellect!"
The halfling can't maneuver past anyone to get in an attack.

Oh, yeah, sorry about that, Rogzul.
Vires misses his blow and Theadric curses at the gobs, waiting for an opening.
