I think the point is that you’re not supposed to read the spoilers … makes it easier to separate what should and shouldn’t know ;-)

It's ok. I'm a compulsive peeker. Hopefully Paizo'll boot up a message system then I can run the ALIEN/TRAITOR/THING/GORE-GORE game that's been noodling around in my skull.

And if you just popped in on this page make sure to go back and read the REALLY IMPORTANT spoiler with your name on it.

Looks like you've got two takers for it already Kruel... might have to get the gears grindin' on it. ;)

I never read other peoples spoilers, which is fun as it often leaves me clueless as to what is going on.. or more clueless than I am normally.

At Judds prompting Cord dives behind a car, the tactical gear making his movements awkward.

Stealth (-5 armour check, +2 dex, +3 ranks) = +0 (1d20=5)

Oh crap! Remember the scene in Scary Movie where the killer is hiding in the house talking to the baby sitter on the phone and she can see his feet sticking out from behind the sofa, that is how I imagine Cord looks now!

"Frigging hell Mike, stop staring at your feet, it is still not jam on those boots, get down here," Cord whispers as loud as he dares through his mask, the smell of vomit heavy on his breath.

If Mike doesn't snap out of his trance, I'll drag him down into my terribly chosen hiding place.

"Some people are still alive up in the condos, he points them out as he asks, how many of them are coming our way Dave?"

In answer to your question about improving my movement speed, I have not seen a feat that allows me to do that.

What is Wasabi doing?

Wassabi is glaring down the street in the direction Judd indicated. Her tail just slipped between her legs.

“Dunno. Twenty, thirty?” whispers Judd. He looks about for the dog.

Stealth: 1d20+5=23

Hearing Dave call out, Patrick scopes out the threat, then hides in the minivan, closing the door quietly. He chirps the WT softly

"I'm in the blue minivan guys."

Dave Judd wrote:

"Oh!" he mutters despondently as looks around with wide eyes for an exit route or choke point if it comes to a fight, "Star bucks?" he ask himself.

Anywhere we can hide that might be better than behind a car in the street?

Edit: cross post.

Cord almost pee's his pants when the WT chirps into life.

Dave mentally weighs their options.

It might be possible to sneak past the zombie horde, or hide until they went past … but probably not, especially given that Cord seemed to be a bit of a mess, and his idea of hiding left a bit to be desired …

Option two; take the van (or the Suburban, if they could get in) and either plow through the Z’s and make for the hospital (probably a bad idea – any survivors would be on their tail, following them into the place), or drive off in another direction, try to lose them, then head back to the hospital (might work … assuming the noise of the engines didn’t attract any other wandering random hordes of zombies along the way … big assumption).

Option three; sneak off this street, hope the zombies haven’t seen us, get a street or two away and head to the hospital along one of the parallel streets, generally utilizing more stealth so as not to attract the attention of more zombies … yeah, right.

“Anyone got an option four?” Judd whispers into the WT.

Kruelaid wrote:

Missed this before.

Ah, fnck...

"Wasabi," Judd hisses, trying to see the dog under the van. "Dog! Over here."

She's at Mike's feet. Mike found something. And hopefully Shiny will post soon.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

Sam peers down the barrel of the scope intently, watching the Ghoul at the head of the horde with interest. She tilts her head and trips the WT.
"Guys, I know guns are bad, but what about if we were to take out that one at the front there. He looks different than the others. Maybe he's another mutant one with brainiac powers or something. He looks like he's leading the others."
She leaves the channel open accidently and the others can hear her singing to herself. [i]"And on that farm he shot some Zombies. Oswald was a f!@..."[/b] You swear you can hear her grin.
If anyone looks over at her, they can se the barrel of the Beowulf dancing on the bonnet of the car, apparently targeting Zombies.

A low-budgeted one. :D

The mayor is also a notorious warlord with at least eighty armed people in his entourage?

He doesn't want to share with any one the road when he goes out.

"Now where is that power saw?"

Kruelaid, peeved by so much OOC posts on the IC thread.

Mike points to somewhere in the middle of the intersection.

"Manholes. One of 'em goes to a utility line. We could probably get into the hospital through the basement following the tunnel. Anyone know how to get down there?"

Spoiler:

Kruelaid wrote:

There are three of these spaced out diagonally across the intersection. Manholes. The first says 'sewer', next 'drain' and the third 'utility'

You've seen where the drainage pipes let out along the water, even played some guitar at the mouth, and they're about big enough for a hunched man. But utility, you figure, they must be dry - and they don't let out at the sea. And if there is a utility tunnel it only makes sense that it would be directly connected to the huge condominium complexes, and even more likely, into hospitals, colleges...

This is second most densely populated area in Vancouver. There are a lot of utilities to run underground. How the fnck do you open them? You wonder how big they are. The Fireman oughta know. Wassabi whines quietly and stares south toward the hospital. Her tail slips between her legs.

"Bingo. Option 4. Do they need to be tooled open, or will this do the trick?" He pats the crowbar.

Johnnie checks the door to the vehicle were the power saw is.

Is it locked?

Cord would know how to get into a utility shaft, unfortunately I don't.

Cord jerks back to his feet and heads over to Mike, "good thinking".

He looks at the cover, hoping it uses a standard manhole key, but wishing he had a T-lift from one of the fire trucks.

Typical manholes weight in excess of 50kg to prevent them being lifted by trafic.

"How do we get wasabi down there? In a sling?" he asks as he gets next to the dog.

[ooc]If the man hole uses a standard key tool, then cord will insert the pick on his fireman's axe into one of the key holes while the crowbar can do the other.

Cord pulls a manhole key out of his pocket. Someone else pulls out a flashlight. (your only one? how many do you have?)

Keeping low Judd and Cord pop the lid, trying to keep it quiet.

Cord Vogel wrote:

Wassabi looks at Cord and jumps up into Mike's arms. She's not a heavy dog.

Someone with some strength will have to go last and drag the lid back over with the crowbar, probably Cord.

Judd and Mike climb down. Sam runs head low and follows.

Juan 'Johnnie' Rico wrote:

Yes, you gonna break the window and grab the saw? You see Judd and Mike climbing down into a manhole.

Sgt. Curtin wrote:

Sarge, you see Judd and Cord pulling a manhole cover up. Mike is looking around. Nobody is looking at you. It's like you disappeared.

You gonna stay in the minivan?

Mike and Judd. You're inside a dark room, an intersection of pipes, electricity, and telecom cables. Four tunnels 8 feet high and four feet wide stretch away in all four directions of the compass. Inside the tunnels it looks roughly like this (linkified), but dirtier and without the lights.

Johnnie smashes the window. He clears the remnants with the shotgun butt and grabs the saw, making sure not to nick himself with the broken shards.

Ok. Leaving for the office.

Not long after the crash of glass everyone hears a howling noise from up the street.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

Sam looks down the hole apprehensively... "I suppose this is a bad time to tell you I don't like enclosed spaces underground huh."
She hears glass breaking and turns to see Johnnie lifting a large power saw out of a car window, then freezes as howling echoes from down the block. Taking another worried glance at the manhole, she sighs and slings the Beowulf over her shoulder, climbing down after Dave. Once at the bottom, she grabs around fro Dave's hand and holds it tightly, not noticing him wince in the dim light filtering down from above.

"Yeah, no s++@ it's a bad time. That howling can't be good."

Mike jumps in after Sam, apparently quite comfortable in the enclosed space.

<Climbs in.>

"It smells... like... tunnel."

"HURRY THE F+%% UP GUYS!"

<Echo blasts your ears.>

Johnnie runs to where Anna is, "Wait for me!"

Cord looks in the direction of the howling, every nerve ending in his body screaming for him to run. "Hurry up guys," he hisses at them, as Jonnie passes with his new toy, Cord just shakes his head in dismay.

What is a power saw? I keep thinking of Warhammer 40k.

When everyone else is down Cord is going to clamber in and do his best to pull the man hole cover back into place, once it is half way he can use the key from underneath to make it easier, assuming he has time.

I have made three strength rolls in case they are required.

Strength = 14 (+2) (1d20+2=6, 1d20+2=3, 1d20+2=19)

Oh bugger!

I have Heroic Surge, just in case that is required.

Judd shines the flashlight about. “I love the smell of tunnel in the morning,” he mutters, grinning briefly at Anna, his teeth seeming to glow in the dim light. Judd has two flashlights. If someone does not have one and wants one, he’ll pass the other over.

“This way I guess?” he says, taking a few tentative steps in the direction of the hospital, south. He glances back and up. “Tell Cord to hurry and close that hole,” he says to Mike, then, “Fcuk. Did anyone tell Sarge where we were going?” He clicks the WT. “Sarge, where the bloody hell are you? We’re down the man-hole.”

Cord Vogel wrote:

Gas powered saw, one in every rescue rig next to the jaws of life.

With a splash guard and no slip rubber grip for serious zombie chopping. Cuts through steel doors, too.

Kruelaid wrote:

Oh HELLS no!

When Patrick sees the manhole cover going up he swears and sprints to the others.

"Little prewarning guys, lets move out!"

He dives into the sewer with the others

Sarge comes half climbing half tumbling down the ladder into the utility tunnel access room.

Cord slips in, halfway down, takes the crowbar from Judd, and drags the lid, scraping it across the asphalt - it drops in with a resonating clang.

The masks valves click fast and nervously. Everyone listens. A scuffling noise above, scraping at the manhole cover.

Sniffing. Fingers reach into the hole. Pulling. It doesn't budge.

Judd reflexively covers the flashlight, snuffing the shadows on the wall... not that they could see it from above.

Cord points in the opposite direction from where they are planning on heading. "How about I head down to the next man hole and make some noise, try and draw them over there away from the direction we are heading?" he looks at the others, the covered torches sending menacing shadows across the walls. "Then I can sneak back here to all of you?"

Cord Vogel wrote:

No that it really matters for game purposes, but the next hole north is probably a main conduit under the parkway, which is north of fences and under the footbridge. East or west would take you to another intersection.

A hush stretches out after Cord's suggestion and before long the sniffling subsides. Something howls above, and a patter a feet gives to total silence again - like a tomb.

Interrupts the silence. "I wonder if there are zombies down here." In a very loud whispering voice.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4
Anna Cho wrote:

Man I'm glad you said that Kruel. I was gonna kill any of us that suggested it...

Sam tightens her grip on Dave's hand (if that's even possible) as he dampens the light and you can hear her breath speed up noticabley.

Judd winces, glances at Anna, an eyebrow raised. Gently, he extracts his hand from Sam’s grip and picks up his crowbar (having briefly rested it against the tunnel wall whilst fishing around for his other flashlight earlier.

“Yeah … I didn’t want to say it. I say we get the f*ck through and out of these tunnels ASAP. Still, good thinking Mike, better down here in the dark than up there and zombie food.”

He flashes the torch around the walls at the intersection, looking for any markings or signs, hopefully something like a street-name or some other way to indicate what is above them. If there’s such here, there may be one at the point they want to exit. Better still, maybe there’s a diagram or something showing where to exit for the hospital, or a utility box with tools and a map or something …

Failing any of the above, he fishes his now rather worn and well folded street map from his pocket, and tries to work out the distance between the street intersection they were at and the hospital.

That done, he starts leading the way south, mentally counting paces as he goes, making something of an effort to keep quiet Stealth: 7+7 = 14

How wide is this tunnel and can we squeeze past each other if we need to?

Patrick unsheathes Charlene and gazes about wildly

"I'll take point. Try not to fire weapons unless totally necessary, I have a feeling the ricoshets would be killer down here."
