Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

Kruel, I need your input over in the Dead Reckoning Discussion Thread

Spoiler:

Surveying the carnage around her, she makes sure to keep a close eye on the Zombies around the far manhole. "Fnck," she thinks to herself. How the hell are we gonna find Pat's mum in all of this?

Looking back down, then back outside, she sighs aqnd takes a few deep calming breaths before climbing back down the ladder again. She sees a body laying one the ground and raises the Sig to cover it as she moves over towards the open doorway.

Just as it starts clawing its way toward her.

There isn't really an open doorway here, that's down the tunnel to the east where the soldier blew up, blew up good, blew up REALLY good.

Johnnie presses his back to the wall and reloads the shottie. He tries calm himself by taking short deep breaths. He knows that the other thing is still lurking.

Johnnie:

Spoiler:
While still reloading, you see it rise. Sam comes back down the ladder and it reaches for her.

Since you guys are a little late to the party a speedup spoiler of Perception DCs:

Cord, Sarge: Perception DC 10

Spoiler:
After the explosion, just as you are taking stock of the situation, you hear Johnnie shouting. He opens fire on a figure rising up from the floor. It's hard to tell in the dust but as it falls into the light you're pretty sure it is a zombie.

Sam bolts up the stairs and you ready your weapon. Ears still ringing. When she comes down someone stands up beside her. Could be Judd or Anna.

Cord, Sarge: Perception DC 15

Spoiler:
After the explosion, just as you are taking stock of the situation, you hear Johnnie shouting. He opens fire on a figure rising up from the floor - soaked in blood and gore - definitely a zombie.

Sam bolts up the stairs and you ready your weapon. Ears still ringing. When she comes down someone stands up beside her. You don't recognize the clothing but it doesn't look hostile. It's rubbing its eyes.

Cord, Sarge: Perception DC 20

Ahh cool. Sorry I misunderstood. Now I get your last descriptive post a little better.

As Sam returns back down to tell the others about their freindly Neighbourhood Watch Commitee upstairs, she sees the figure on the ground rise up and make a grab for her out of the corner of her eye.

Spoiler:

Without thinking, she twists her body around and lashes out with a punch to the thing's face, sending it reeling back a step.
Punch Zombie in the face! (1d20+5=18)
Damage (Lethal thanks to her Martial Arts Training). (1d4+1=4)
She sees what she hit and looks down at the blood on her glove, horrified and glad at the same time for the fabric protecting her from the smear of blood she can just make out on her knuckles.

The person beside Sam staggers backward.

Sam:

Spoiler:
It's looks like they're partially blinded by all the dust. You guys have the advantage here with the masks.

Cord curls himself in a ball, screws his eyes closed and clamps his hands over his ears, the explosion happens in slow motion.

As he is late to the party, I'll come up with a reason.

In hind sight bracing the handle of the fire axe between his knees is a bad idea, the handle falls backwards in the pressure, glancing off his already inflamed and tender, from the bus crash, meat and two veg. He collapses sideways, unsure if the glowing flashes in the dust and smoke are caused by the burning pain or the flash of gun fire.

Gritting his teeth, he thrusts a hand to the floor, bringing himself to his knees, through the dust he sees someone he doesn't recognise standing next to Sam:

* Perception - (+0 wis, +6 ranks) = +6 (1d20+6=16)

"WHO THE FUNK ARE YOU?!?" he screams, far louder than he expected.

As the figure staggers backwards he shouts again, the words jumbling together, "SAM, IS THAT YOU? IS THAT A Z? WHERE IS MIKE?" pause for breath, "MIKE!"JUDD?"

He spends the whole round staggering to his feet braced against the wall and looking for the others.

Gah sorry for the delay, the last few days have been a real grind:

Perception: 1d20=3

Patrick is oblivious, until Cord begins shouting

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

"Sh!t"
Sam curses as she raises the Sig in front of her and sends a shot into the reeling Zombie at point blank range. The bullet pierces the thing's eye socket and continues on to imbed itself in the concrete of the wall, turning the dust behind it a rosy shade of pink in the sunlight streaming down from above.
Shoot Zombie with Sig. (1d20+5=25)
Confirm Critical Hit. (1d20+5=9)
Damage from Sig Sauer P229. (2d6=5)
Surprisingly, the thing is still standing, even after such a devestating wound.

Karma bit my arse then. I wrote the blurb about the eye before rolling the Critical Confirmation or the Damage, so IC decided to give me sh!t rolls for both... :(

The now cyclopean zombie staggers around and snarls. It seems that between the dust, the tonfa in the face, and getting one of its eyeballs shot out, that it's as blind as b##~&%~.

You wonder what's happening outside, or down the tunnel for that matter.

Judd is head-shotting the twitching Z on the floor beside him and trying to figure out where the hell everyone else is.

The damage to everyone's ear-drums is mounting.

It was actually her fist. I'm not really suicidal in case everyone thinks I'm voicing my desires through Sam's seemingly mad quest to get herself infected... ;)

Rad says he can't connect to Paizo. Not since the last one.

Johnny pats Judd on the arm, points at his eyes, and then points down the tunnel toward the blast.

Johnny climbs up the ladder and looks outside.

What can ol' Sarge see of all of this action?

Kruelaid wrote:

Is there an on-going noise? What is it?

Screaming:"OKAY ENOUGH WITH THE SHOOTING!"

Dave Judd wrote:

Judd can hardly hear the gunfire which is between 140 and 170 decibels and resonating through a small concrete room. Incidentally 130 decibels is known to cause actual physical pain.

Oh, that noise.

Judd agrees with Anna. "SHUT THE F*CK UP!!! GUNS DOWN!"

That doesn't stop him from pressing the barrel of the Glock into Twitchy's ear and pulling the trigger.

Cord continues to alternate clamping his hands over his ear drums and over his man hood as he surveys the room through watering eyes. "Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!" he says, once again a little louder than he expected, "THERE MIGHT BE A FEW ZEES IN BANFF WHO HAVEN'T HEARD US YET!"

Patrick looks around, Charlene at point, waiting for the inevitable zombie to appear from the smoke

Well, I rub her down with honing oil and run a whetstone across her every night ;)

Kinky.

Dave tries to get his bearings. Perception: 15+4 = 19

You are at the T intersection before you cut left to the suicide bomb room. Under the south end of laurel. Apparently, according to Sam, it's just a quick sprint south to the entrance to the emergency entrance of Vancouver General and their ICU building. Sam, Cord, and Sarge are standing around you, you can't hear much of what they say, and Mike is missing.

Johnnie is on the ladder keeping watch on the street. He is neither screaming in terror nor firing his shotgun, or at least you can't hear him doind so... which you take as a good sign.

There is brown dust everywhere. Visibility is limited. Everyone is caked in dust. It looks like it was unsettled from the floor during the blast.

It would appear that the gas pipes did not blow, and as someone who has squeezed an egg, it now occurs to you that it is probably pretty hard to crack thick steel cylinder with a concussion and shrapnel.

Of great concern to you is the fact that nobody is guarding the tunnel leading to the hospital utility tunnel where the Lieutenant blew himself up with a nade and 4 pipe bombs - and it's pretty obvious that something was following you down that tunnel because two zombies rode the blast right into this room.

But hey, they probably can't see worth s%+!, you figure.

Right.

Judd moves to stand in the centre of the tunnel leading towards the remains of the brave soldier, his Glock held with both hands in front of him, pointing down the tunnel. He peers into the billowing dust, seeking movement.

“Where’s Mike?” he calls over his shoulder, “and the dog? Should we head up here? Get back onto the street?”

Coughing, Patrick follows Dave over.

*KAFF* *HACK*

"I don't know man, everything is confused."

Forgot Anna. F~%% Sarge, you're wearing your mask right? No coughing needed... and you're eyes will get all gritty.

"Holy Christ caught in a zipper. Hope this doesn't gum up the guns."

“Someone find him. The gods know how many cannibals are going to come boiling out of that tunnel any minute. We need to get up to the street. Frikken move it people.” He nods to Pat, glad for another set of eyes (and a sword) to help him guard the tunnel while the rest get organised and out.

I guess Rad still can't post.

1d20+1=16

The sound of steel scraping on asphalt. Johnnie drags the manhole cover back into place. Then flicks on a flashlight.

"Not clear."

“F#ck it.” Judd squints into the dust and gloom ahead. “Right then. Get everyone together and we move forward. Quickly, before they regroup or call reinforcements or whatever the f*ck it is they do. Have to hope there’s still a way through that door I opened, and that the blast got most of the bastards.” He glances at Anna. “What are you, Miss Doom and Gloom?”

Patrick looks about.

"Sound out! Sam, where are you? Mike? Sound out! Cord? Location and status! Johnnie you there?"

"Right behind you man!" Cord says, again, unnecessarily loud, but hey he can't hear jack!

"Mike and the dog carried on past us, he is probably back at the boat by now!" his voice is at least muffled a little bit by the mask. "Want me to go look for him?!"

Cord cautiously starts heading back the way they came, flash-light in one hand and axe in the other.

"Mike! Wasbi! Here boy! Good Doggy!"

"I am here, sarge!" Johnnie swings his flashlight to mark his position.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

Sam comes into the room, with the Sig out and ready. You notice she keeps glancing at the knuckles of her left hand, but think noting of it after how crazy she's been.
"Can we please get the hell out of this tunnel now!?!"
"Up is probably a bad idea too, unless you want to poke your head out into a circle of hungry Zombies. I think our best bet is down the tunnel into the Hospital proper."
She walks over to Judd. "Any chance of handing out some of those silenced guns Dave? It's not so bad down here after the explosion, but once we get into the hospital We're really not gonna be able to shoot unless we really get into trouble."

Samantha Bastian wrote:

Judd passed the guns to you guys when he made the run. Also, they are now posted on the loot list thread.

Ayup.

Sorry, must of missed it, who got handed a gun?

There was a suppressed pistol and three nades. Judd took the nightvision and handed off the equipment to you guys before you took cover, but nobody responded acknowledging the hand off so I don't know who has them.

"The yellow ones are flashbangs. The green one is red smoke. Suppressors too. Don't last much more than one clip before the baffles go, there're spares for both guns. Ammo too: blue paint means cold loaded."

"Nightvision. You'll figure it out. Should still fit with the mask."

<He kicks a colt m4 carbine with a suppressor toward you. Unholsters a pistol, also with a suppressor.>

2 guns (one pistol & one machine gun) & some different types of grenades.

2 flashbangs: they deafen and blind anyone nearby. One smoke grenade: provides cover or signals... someone.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

If noone else wants it I'll take the Silenced Pistol. What the hell is cold loaded ammo anyway?

Cold loading means you reduce the amount of powder in the cartridge so that by the time the bullet leaves the gun it travels at subsonic speed.

Suppressors don't really hush guns the way you see in the movies, you need to really slow the bullet down too. This is how it's usually done.

Mike:

Spoiler:
In case you pop in and have no time to read back. You're about 60 or 70 yards north of these guys in an alcove with a locked steel door (you passed it earlier, seemed like a good hiding place). The visibility is low from dust stirred up by the blast. Something is scraping around on the other side of the door, and everyone is calling out for you in the room to the south - after the gunshots died down anyway.

Ol' Sarge will stick with the Greatsword

Patrick keeps alert for anything coming out of the tunnels

Cord Vogel wrote:

I guess you have a suppressed Colt Commando, two flashbangs, and a smoke grenade. May they serve you well.

Sorry about that. Had a bad weekend.

Remember what happened around this time last year? Right after a music gig on Wednesday, I had one of the more impressive paranoid freakouts in some time. Basically, I spent about five or six hours breaking s$!$ and screaming at inanimate objects, then did a load of laundry, puked, and passed out on the couch. Scared the s%$+ out of my folks, I can tell you that.

To make a long story short, I was getting pretty out of control, but my girlfriend was able to pull me out of it. I'm still a little off, but I'm still here.

So... What's going on?

Gig induced paranoia spikes, eh? I've seen it - associated with radical intoxication anyway.

Mike is down the tunnel a ways huddling in an alcove. He heard the explosion, felt the blast, heard some gunfire, and Wassabi peed in his lap. Now he smells like dog piss. The dust from the tunnel floors got stirred up and you can't see farther than 5 feet.

Where you're hiding, on the other side of the metal door in the alcove, you heard some clattering and scraping noises and not long after Cord started calling out down the tunnel looking for you. From the sound of it he's coming down the tunnel now to have a look (I think).
