Hey! I recognize those guys...
"Oh great! The big one there looks like thaat Korlock devil we raan into upstairs, and two smaller ones look like thaat poor cleaning Zebub."
When Lough cuts to the chase and goes for the red devil, Kka sighs. "I'm kinda wishing I brought some silver weapons with me now." Nevertheless, Kka once again finds herself moving faster than the rest. Darting in, she takes a swipe at big red before retreating to relative safety behind the front line.

He then moves forward and casts a Shield on himself.
I've put you in a position where you can threaten two enemies at once, without standing adjacent to either. I hope that's to your liking.
The weapon-wielder frowns at Kka and the damage she did, but they seemingly like that she's still in the hallway. They still have a chokepoint. They instead go for Fuìn. The first attack goes wide completely, the second attack misses by a narrow margin.

Fuìn runs in and conks the dazed flybaby on the head with his hammer. Again, not all of the force seems to land as hard as it should, but it still bruises Pink a fair bit. Then Kka is up and gangs up on Green, and manages to crit twice! The first shortsword nearly bisects the baby, the second one finishes it off. Technically the first already kills it, but Double Slice is fun.

After being clobbered by Fuìn, it snaps awake and has enough presence of mind to partially dodge out of the way, but still gets zapped, and it's exactly enough to put it down.
The festive confetti cloud remains for a while until Kvit drops concentration on it.
You loot the room while patching up the minor injuries sustained during the fight. The glaive turns out to be a regular glaive, but especially wicked-looking. You might be able to upsell it if you can spin a good tale, but is otherwise not especially valuable.
The weapon rack holds several interesting items. Two more wicked glaives, but these turn out to be magical. Not super special, but worth more than the regular one, at least. Two +1 glaives.
There's a shield made out of standard-grade cold iron, three moderate acid flasks, and a strange curved knife that also turns out to be magical.

Kka Magwi |

Kka cuts down one of the ugly flying devil babies then turns in time to see Kvit fry the last one with some lightning. She looks down at the corpse of the big red devil. "I guess these guys aren't that tough, or maybe we're just getting better with praactice." She looks around to see how badly beat up everyone is and gets to work patching up wounds.
She then searches the room thoroughly, finding several items of value, many of which were of interest to her. The acid flasks, which she'd recently learned how to throw with some degree of skill, she carefully tucks into some pockets.
In the remaster, Rogues are now trained in all martial weapons and can thus throw alchemical bombs with some accuracy.
She then examines the interesting curved knife to figure out what it is.
Religion vs DC 22: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
"Niiice! A Bloodletting Kukri. This might actually come in haandy." She looks around, but unless someone objects, she tucks it into her belt.
A Kukri is a good alternative to a shortsword now that rogues are trained in all martial weapons. It's a Knife, so the crit effect is different (though overlapping with the bloodletting ability), and the Versatile S is replaced with Trip (probably a downgrade for Kka). Might give it a try in the next encounter to see how it goes.
Lifting the shield, she glances over at Lough. She hands it to him. "I think yours is already better thaan this one, but you never know."
Loot sheet updated.
Finding no other exits in the room, Kka frowns. "That's strange. I wonder whaat this little den of devils was doing down here." After a moment, she gives up trying to figure it out and heads for the door. "Except for dealing with the big fella in the arena, there's only one other area of this level left for us to explore."
The last remaining covered area is off the balcony room south of the tavern. I say we check it out before taking on the creature in the arena.

![]() |

"No no. Not practice. It is something else" he throws the shield over his back - good to have a second shield, but, even better to have a magic shield - in any case, it has some worth.

Kka, there's one more unknown area, to the far southeast of the map. It was covered by clutter of NPC images. I moved a few around so it's more visible now. Sorry about that.
No prob. Turns out Kka forgot about that area as well :) She remembers now though.
Kka frowns as she remembers something. "Hold on. There's also a bunch of doors we haaven't looked behind to the east of the arena. Still think we should take care of the area north of the arena first though, then head west."

Kvit the Ruin Delver |

Kvit makes a few notes in his spellbook about the creatures, the effectiveness of the Hypnotic Pattern spell, and the magical items they inspected.
"I suspect we'll continue to see more of these devils. It would be good to prepare something when we next head back to the surface."
Kvit follows Kka towards the next area. "And just to remind everyone, we are on a bit of a time limit..." Referring subtlety to the giant abomination in the arena.

GM Kwinten |

Technically you don't know they're devils, as you haven't identified them yet. Or maybe you did, a few floors back, I forgot.
Cherry Berry can indeed confirm that these creatures were devils. The fly-creatures are often used as spies and can replay information they've seen. The other one is a Barbazu devil, the foot soldiers of Hell. They're not super resilient, but their skill with glaives can leave nasty wounds.
Devils resist all forms of physical attacks, except silver weapons. So if Lough had punched them with his robo-arm, it would've been more effective. They also have an extra resistance against magic, giving them a bonus on their saves against spells.

Cherry Berry |

"I hope they aren't too active in the tower. Devils are too easy as minions to not be here, I just hope they are not a dominate force."
"Lough, if we fight another one, consider punching it. Your silver arm might do excellent damage, though I guess your magical weapon might still work more effectively."

Kvit the Ruin Delver |

Sorry, was an assumption on my part. I thought we at least knew they were devils of some kind but not exactly what.
Kvit strokes his whiskers while thinking out loud, "Silver... I'd need a few things back in town, but we can definitely be more prepared next time. I could powder some silver into a salve and possibly find a different version of the telekinetic throw cantrip that might work with some silver nails, or something like that..."
.
Sneakers comes out after a few minutes. "They g-gone? Good. Didn't want to get licked again... Blergh!"

Drosil "Fuìn" Arimsyn |

Fuin mouths behind his mask 'again?' with a look that is both confused and concerned.
"You said they can replay what they've seen? Maybe these devils aren't minions. Maybe..." He rubs his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe they're scouts? Maybe they want to see if they can wrest this place from Belcorra, or work with her. Either way, we'd best dispatch any we come across. Nothing from Hell can be good news, surely." He looks mournfully at the angry black iron of his meteor hammer. "I know a silver meteor hammer would be a terrible idea for many reasons, but man, it'd look cool, wouldn't it?" He sighs. "Well, whatever. Let's go check out the other doors we missed."
He gives a little salute to Kka. "Lead the way, chum."

GM Kwinten |

![]() |

Not wanting to get in a barfight upon return, Lough leads the way through the arena.

Kka Magwi |

Kka was about to head back to the tavern so as to avoid the arena and any chance that they may engage the monster therein, but when Lough decides the arena is the better option, she pauses momentarily in indecision. After a second she shrugs and says, "Whaatever. Lead the way big maan."

GM Kwinten |

As Lough opens the door to the arena, you see that the arena behemoth has moved north and has picked up one of the dead morlocks and is starting to ingest it. It then does the same to the other morlock and the snake/worm creature and is now inspecting the door leading to the tavern, music still audible through two doorways.

When Kka enters the arena, she notes the location of the behemoth and curses under her breath. "Looks like we're screwed. We're going to haave to take the long way around..." Her voice trails off as she notices the lunatic grin on Lough's face. "Uh, oh! Don't do it Lough. Do. Not. Do. It!"
Too late.
Kka watches in resignation as Lough turns and heads quietly towards the behemoth. She sighs and turns to the others. "Looks like we're taking care of this unfinished business a little earlier than expected. Let's go." A strange exhilaration overtakes her as she heads after the crazed changeling. "Today's as good a day to die as any."
I take it that the creature is on the elevated area overlooking the arena, which means that Lough is currently some 10' or more below and presumably not within reach. My guess is that he would probably be sneaking up the stairs to stab it in the back, and that Kka would be behind him, with whomever else wants to die a gruesome death trailing behind her.

Cherry Berry |

As they approach the behemoth, Kka remembers that her swords are unlikely to be of much use and balls up her fists. "This gets better and better." After witnessing the creature's attack on Lough, she realizes that her own death is imminent. She shrugs. "Whatever." Then charges up the stairs, punches the creature once and retreats back around the corner where she hopes to find some cover from the web and bone it's flinging about.

GM Kwinten |

Cherry Berry, Lough's last attempt was a natural 20, which bumps his fail to a success. Guidance isn't necessary. Do you want to cast it on someone else, or do something different?
Kka runs in, gives a quick bap to the giant flesh-heap, and runs back to safety.
Lough struggles and flails wildly to escape the hair, and finally with miraculous might he manages to break his bonds.

Cherry Berry throws their Guidance at Fuìn.
Fuìn jumps into action and runs up the stairs, then lunges forward to hit the behemoth with his hammer.
Meteor hammer: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 17 + 1 = 27
That's a hit thanks to Guidance. Did I see what Fuìn's to hit was before I decided to give him the Guidance? You can't prove I did.
Bludgeoning: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 8) + 4 = 18
Fuìn then moves back to his original position.
Kvit moves to a better position and hits the giant blob with a stream of water, pushing it back. Its malleable form allows it to squeeze partially into the narrow tunnel.
The behemoth got a big hit from Fuìn and focuses its attention on him, but thanks to Kvit's spell, it now has to move. It moves into the arena area, its globby form falling the short distance down and hitting the ground with a thud. It lunges at Fuìn, trying to grab hold of him as it attacks.

As best as I can tell, according to RAW, the fleshy sap tentacle is not separately targetable from the main body of the creature, and I suspect there is no mention of the tentacle taking damage and releasing its prey short of an Escape or the creature being moved. This means that Fuìn and Lough would not be able to reach the creature (tentacle or otherwise) from their current position. Seems a little strange to me that there's a tentacle wrapped around Fuìn but no one can do anything to it, so perhaps the GM will allow it, and treat the tentacle as a 3-square extension from the main body of the creature up to and including Fuìn's square. That would thus mean that If Kka moves adjacent to Fuìn that her Gang Up feat would make the creature off-guard to everyone's attacks.
The following turn assumes this is the case. If it isn't, then I will redo the turn with the GM's decision on the situation in mind.
Kka watches the behemoth slap Fuìn silly and then wrap its fleshy extrusion around his body. "Thaat's just wonderful! Our best bet to finish off this monster is out of commission." She slides forward and takes a punch at the grabbing tentacle to try and encourage it to release its captive before saying "protect me," and bringing up a magical pink shield to try and blunt the impact of any counterattack.
