This is very situational.

They're cuddly for Lamashtan standards :3

But yeah, I was referring to the fact that Intimidate, as written, is less effective for a Skinwalker after he/she transforms into a ball of fur(or scales), rage, fangs and cuddliness.

Peoples eyesight and hearing also get better with age in this game...Sometimes you just gotta roll with it.

Heya, Gil! Was hoping some of the gang from Fyren's vanished game would pay a visit.

Greetings to you hellspawn, I had noticed your presence.

Here is my character, Aelena Moher-Barca. It contains the crunch and the previously posted goals.

As far as her crime, it's Witchcraft, though she also murdered her fiancé as part of the ritual.

She was the leader of a small cult of Ardad Lili consisting entirely of vengeful, young women. Together they tortured and killed Aelana's fiancé as a sacrifice for the Kyton they intended to summon. Sadly one of the cultists had talked and the whole thing was interrupted by Balin of Karfeld and his goons. Some cultists were killed, the one who betrayed them killed by another cultist, and other were sentenced to death in common court but Aelena, being the leader, was beaten, taken alive and sent to Branderscar to set an example.

Full background is still to come.

EDIT: As for build plans, the aim is Cleric most of the way but I'm thinking of dipping Sorcerer with Infernal bloodline at some point, representing both a gift from her mistress and a mechanical boon.

@Giltharon: Yeah, those revisions are okay.

Spooky GM wrote:

@Dashuun: You have a rank in Disguise, and that's honestly all I need from the stranger human-ish races. You can disguise and pass fine, so there's no problem.

@Tirion: Interesting; mind explaining the idea behind the build? I usually don't ask because it speaks for itself, but that's an interesting layout and I'm curious as to what the goal of it is.

Spooky GM:

I guess I like building around an attribute. In this case, the campaign was looking for a stealthy sneak with trapfinding, and I decided to build around a Wisdom based character. Obviously since it was using the Focus/Foible and I got the roll of a life time with 9/10/10/8 (16/17/17/15) for my rolls, it was easy to build almost anything. Also, since I was starting at level 8 and was planning on grabbing 2 levels of Shadowdancer which gives Evasion, I did not want to have the classes duplicate what I consider one of the more powerful low level abilities in the game. Thus, I went with 2 levels of monk rather than rogue, and took the Monk of the Sacred Mountain archetype which replaces evasion. I would have taken rogue, but for some reason all the rogue archetypes except smuggler swap out trapfinding and/or uncanny dodge.

Since the position I was applying for was a sneak/roguish character with disable device, I then grabbed ranger(trapper) which gave me the trapfinding, and a bonus feat. I took Quick Draw as my character was not being designed as a melee character, but rather as a sneak/disguise/support character and I thought that this really fit the character with being able to draw hidden weapons as a Swift action. Really, for the role I intended, I only needed 2 feats, Combat Expertise-->Butterfly Sting, to set up the heavy hitters in the party.

Next, the Inquisitor(Infiltrator) levels were sort of throw away, but I assumed that my character had been recruited by the Cardinal and had been trained in the ways of the Dark Lord. However, she never had the mindset for the true divine cleric role, and instead continued to focus on sneaking, hiding, and gathering information, exactly what the Infiltrator archetype is good for.

Finally, she moved into the Shadowdancer, which is a class I have always loved, but never had a chance to play on pbp, my only real outlet for PF. This class just exponentially increases her stealth abilities with Hide in Plain Sight and the ability to Shadow Walk.

As a 25 point build, I do not know if I could accomplish this, but would have to play around with it. Also, since she would be growing from level 1, much of the background would be inapplicable and her role could easily change. More levels of Inquisitor if the trapfinding is not needed. Perhaps no Monk if her Wisdom is much lower as the AC gain would be negligible versus just using light armor.

Hope this explanation is not too long. I have included two other characters below where I have been playing with multiple classes to build unusual characters that so far have been a lot of fun to play.

Jez - fighter/oracle/sorcerer/dragon disciple

Qui - bard/monk/fighter/inquisitor

Here is my submission for a fighter from a long line of Asmodeans. The character sheet and background can be found under the profile. Still playing with the personality a bit, but the crunch and background are finished.

It would be good to have a Full Arcane Caster like a Wizard in the party. From what I've seen of this adventure path, magical item crafting skills will be a vital part of the game as you're not going to find a lot of suppliers in Talongarde that will craft magical items for evil characters, especially items that are of evil alignment.

Heh...seeing as how I am the only one who has submitted a wizard for the party, I will take that suggestion into consideration when planning Zinbah's feat progression.

This is a concern I have taken into consideration. Party balance will be a big facotr.

With my Disguise abilities, I should be able to do some shopping for the group, even if we're wanted by the law. Normally I might charge a fee for that, but if we're all in service to the Dark Prince, I will reap other rewards.

Going to need a pretty good bluff to get that pesky do-good wizard to add unholy to my sword, too!

KBoom wrote:

Well, there's that.

The other option is to create an NPC to stick in who can do that for money, but it would definitely be cost effective and best to have someone in the party who can handle enchanting things. You will have allies, but they might not always be available or reliable, and there's something rather triumphant about surviving together and pulling yourselves up from nothingness.

Well, I am working on a submission of an elven wizard (diviner, foresight subschool) who will plan on crafting if he survives long enough. I hope to have him finished tomorrow. Molasbar will be planning on becoming a spymaster of a new governing order, and the brains behind whatever ruler puppet they have in place. No offense intended if that puppet ends up being another PC...

It's OK, I can fulfill the party's crafting role here. And I will be...reasonable with the rates I charge, he he.

BTW, what sort of PrC classes would be good for doing crafting for arcane types. If there are none I could stick to the standard class here and branch off into diabolist occasionally.

Lantern Lodge

Will be submitting my character that I am planning on making, planning for the character to be a mystic theurge, with an emphasis on crafting. Hopefully can have everything squared away by tomorrow night.

Crafting? I have Craft Wondrous Item planned for my character at level 3. Beyond that I'm not sure, maybe Arms & Armor if I have space somewhere but I don't think I do.

EDIT: Then again, if others got that covered I might branch out a bit and improve my summoning instead.

I *could* craft, but I'd planned on taking Adder Strike and Snake Style for thematic reasons.

I'd wait to see the party selected before deciding who'll pick up crafting. I wouldn't change your build now before any decisions are made, personally. And Spooky already said he's taken it into consideration, so even less to worry about!

Speaking of, good luck to everyone in the selections coming up in a couple of days! Some really good applications were submitted, and I don't envy Spooky one bit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though.

Would it be possible to do a variant of the Demon Transformation Ritual to transform oneself into a Devil? With a few adjustments here and there (like replacing Chaotic Evil with Lawful Evil) the ritual could be used as a way of ascending to become a devil. Here is the link for the Demon Transformation Ritual.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/demon

The game offers ways to become both a vampire and a lich, so the option to Devil up might actually be pretty interesting too. I will definitely consider this.

Oh, a vengeful flame oracle being able to transform that way is appealing :)

I want to play an eeeevil character, but I feel like I should stop saying Tiefling Magus every thread-even though it's my favorite class/race combo. Any ideas for somebody's first evil character?

Dark Archive

I just want a black set of wings the power of hell and immortality. The ability to see through illusions will also be useful. Generally going for an Erinye transformation. My plan with the character is to claim immortality as a fiend and basically become the eternal patron of the new Inquisition of Talongarde. The black winged devil of retribution. >:)

Can I assume the first ritual is already done considering my character was already a part of an Asmodean cult as well as an acting inquisitor for Asmodeus? The 2nd ritual should be pretty easy for my character although I don't expect to get it done until later in the campaign. As an ex-mitran the knowledge check is only a DC 10 to pull off as well when I finally get to the ritual. Looking forward to it.

Evil is easy. Just think of one or two themes and build off of them.

Vengeful
Uncaring
Self-centered
Abusive
Megalomaniac
Destructive
Homicidal

Be a druid who wants to bring society to its knees so that nature can reclaim everything
Be a rogue who wants to steal everything, and does not care who gets hurt in the process
Be a spited lover who killed her mate, or mate's new lover
Be a mage obsessed with power and dark rituals which require human sacrifice
Be a cleric focussed on having a harem of beautiful slaves he can use and dispose of at will
Be a ranger who likes to hunt the toughest prey - man

Tirion wrote:

In a world with many many sentient races, practically all of them more formidable than a human, I find this one rather humorous :)

Not in the opinion of the "good" "humans" who worship Mitra.

Goodness is all in the eye of the beholder, and right now the ruling beholder is Mitra and her cronies. Can't you see the eye watching you?

Tirion wrote:

A char of mine was sacrificed by his own father during the family banquet for not worshiping and insulting Asmodeus. :)

It got him a ticket to hell.

Selina just wants wealth and power, becoming a Vampire or Liche is probably a step too far for her.

Oh, silly Asmodeans, always wanting shiny coins, power and immortality. :3

Us Lamashtan enjoy the more simple pleasures of life, like knitting, taking long walks on the beach, and maiming our foes and then use their fingers to play Mikado.

...

That came off as way creepier than I wanted it to be.

And yet you still hit [Submit Post], hehe.

And not all of us Asmodeans want shiny coins, power and... sorry, sorry, couldn't make it all the way through with a straight face.

Tirion Jörðhár wrote:

The one problem with that one is that it's bound to cause conflict with the Asmodeans as they really like civilization.

As for me, as a follower of mistress Ardad Lili I don't care much for coin. What I do care about is attention and men grovelling at my feet. Oh, and power, lots of power.

I just want a world that's safe for me and my family. Who are drow. And evil.
And my snakes. Lots of evil, poisonous snakes.
I have a dream...

Sczarni

Is it too late to throw in on this? I have a few niffty ideas I'd like to try if selected.

Please let me know, or I'll make my submissions ASAP. :)

Revenge is the only thing that matters but if my revenge includes piles of gold, beautiful women and grovelling minions, that would be acceptable.

Snakes? You sound like a decent fellow. I'm a Cleric with the Scalykind domain and will have a constrictor snake in a few levels.

Cuàn here btw.

Knowledge...is....POWER!!

Economic monopoly...is...POWER!!

Lich sounds like a good plan...if somewhat cliche, he he.

Slay my enemies, drive their armies before me, and so on.

Eric Swanson wrote:

Not so much, lichdom doesn't do much good to a woman who's strong point is her charms (aside from burning vengeance). Vampire or demon lady on the other hand :)

My idea was her flame powers are a boon from a whore queen, they have revenge as a subdomain.

There is no such thing as a Revenge sub-domain and none of the Whore Queens actually have a thing for fire, that's more a thing of the male devils.

I should know, Aelana is a devout follower of one of them.

Aelena herself would only be interested in becoming a devil, though she'd rather just become a goddess.

Perhaps we could travel to another plane... with our snakes.

Lily will just be happy to be High Warlord of Talingarde. After all, it's the only way to ensure that the nation stays safe. Of course, statues of Asmodeus scattered throughout the lands so the populace knows their place. I mean, before this Mitra character came around, Asmodeus was preeminent in the Talingardean pantheon.

She doesn't need a giant statue of herself in the capital square gardens, but she wouldn't complain if the "grateful" citizens built her one.

Megirege wants to see anything Mitra burn. If only because his very priests sold her into slavery. If she brings Asmodeus glory in the process, all the better. Anyone not viewing her as Asmodeus' mortal equal shouldn't stand, and must burn for being unclean and self absorbed filth.

She may make good allies with Lily as the church side of the "Church Militants", whereas Lily is the Millitant side. Heh.

How many people still don't have at least a backstory done? I want to take inventory so I can know if recruitment can close tomorrow night with minimal letdowns, since Thursday will be a hell day for me.

Well was not thinking of Lily becoming a lich, so much as himself because as we all know, every evil wizard wants to become a lich right? Plus Zinbah is quite handsome in his own way, so perhaps he would find a flame demon-Lily quite fascinating...(he does have trust issues with women but heck, trusting women will be the least of his worries :)

If recruitment is still open, I'd like to apply.

I've got a character from an earlier attempt that was shot down, and who I'd need to make a few changes to in order to fit the character creation rules of this game. I'm at work right now and don't have access to my Hero Lab files or else I'd do that now. Instead, I'll try to get him updated and posted when I get back home in the morning.

Basic rundown - Raymond K. Hessel, LE Ifrit Master Summoner and mafioso. His crime would be Extortion. If allowed, it would be that he set up an extortion/protection racket that targeted an entire area, such as a large merchant district, rather than just a single person.

His whole play style will revolve around using his eidolon primarily as a bodyguard and his summons for doing the heavy lifting and dirty work for him, which means that for the most part I'll be limiting myself to a single summon and my eidolon rather than spamming summons constantly, unless I get caught off guard without my eidolon already out. He's going to be fairly intelligent, but not the wisest of wiseguys, so he's going to be somewhat brash and impulsive. At the same time, he'll show great loyalty to those who deserve it, and he'll have something of a code of ethics that he tries to follow as best as he can. Being a summoner, and having Charisma as his primary stat, means that he'll be something of a party face as well. If he can't get by with schmoozing through something by being a fast talker, he's not afraid to break out his pliers and start pulling teeth to get his way.

Eventually, I'd like to take Leadership, if it's allowed, and try to get myself a monster cohort. Initially it would be a Worg, probably advance to a Hell Hound, and would finally end up with a Shadow Mastiff once my Leadership score got high enough. The followers that are granted by Leadership would serve to act as Raymond's own personal gang. They wouldn't be used for anything like combat, but would simply be a sign of his growing influence and power. Of course, it all hinges on being allowed to take Leadership. I know it's a feat that's very, very capable of completely upsetting a game, so I fully understand if it wouldn't be allowed.

His goals would be to rule the country as its premier crime lord. He wants to have his hands in every deal, get a cut of every profit, etc.

Basically, he's supposed to be the largely stereotypical gangster. Think Lucky Luciano, Al Capone, and Meyer Lansky, with a bit of Tommy DeVito and Nicky Santoro(Joe Pesci's characters in Goodfellas and Casino, respectively). Put on a good face, but behind the scenes you're cracking skulls. Show loyalty to your friends, but bash in someone's face if they insult you and haven't earned the right to joke.

If you've got any questions, concerns, etc, just ask. And like I said, I'll try to get the crunch up and posted sometime later this morning.

Background:
All my life I've sought my father's approval. That's not to say he never cared for me, but as the only half-breed out of his many sons it's safe to say I was the underdog. See, my father is an Efreeti. And not just any Efreeti, but a Malik; a noble. For him to have a half-breed son, and to keep both of us in his home, meant that he loved my mother very much. Because taking care of a human in a realm of elemental fire isn't easy.

So I grew up working my ass off to make sure I did what he wanted. While my pure-blooded brothers sat around and leeched off of the family wealth, I was out making sure things still ran smooth so that the money was always there. Which meant I was involved in a lot of things at a very young age. Things that most people want to keep their little rays of sunshine away from. But not my father. He was a strict, but fair, lord. If you paid your respects and did what he asked of you, you were rewarded with a safe place to live and do business. If you didn't, well, he sent a few friends of his over to your house to remind you exactly who was in charge. Before long, I was going out as part of those groups as well. I think I was 12 when I first smashed up someone's shop because they didn't pay their taxes. And boy did I love it. Took to it like fire to a match. So much so that by the time I was 16 I was the old man's preferred tax collector. Of course, it helped that I had learned to bring along certain pets every time I went out. People just stopped trying to talk back after that. My father loved me for it. It made his job a whole lot easier when he didn't have to send a whole bunch of guys over to wreck the place and had someone he could trust to get the job done. Soon enough I had my own associates that I sent out to do my work for me, but I kept a close eye on it all. Just in case.

But then, a few years down the road, the old man died. And what happened next wasn't very pretty. Out of 15 heirs, he had named me his successor. The will called all my brothers lazy, and they didn't like that. Especially not when it meant they were being outshone by a half-breed like myself. So a bit of a feud broke out with them against me. Things got bad, and I knew when it was time to go. So I hopped a portal and ended up in this place called Talingarde. I'd never seen anything like it. People were always nice and polite to each other, and they were all gullible.

So I thought to myself, "I'll start up a crew here. It shouldn't be too hard, at least not compared to home." And that's exactly what I did. I just couldn't get anybody to go along with it. So it was just me and some of my pets that I was able to bring with me, and we'd go shake down some businesses all simple-like. Things went well for a while, what with there being no real competition. But then I guess I hit the business of someone that had connections. They didn't pay up on time, so me and my pets started smashing up the place. No sooner had I knocked over a set of shelves than about 15 guards busted in. They beat me near to death, dragged me in on some trumped up charges, and in a heartbeat I was tossed in the can.

So here I sit, waiting to be shipped out. They say I'm gonna be put to work somewhere, but I've got other plans. I'm not alone here, and from what I saw this place isn't exactly lenient when it comes to their punishments. I may have just found where to put together a real crew, and with my brains I figure we can rule this place...
