Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

In all my gaming experience, the time I most enjoyed playing was a Girl/child/Bard in Faerum.
It was a really 'non-optimal' build for a bard, I had a high Wis and low int. Low Con and negative Str. Only Dex and Cha were good stats. Even then I went into Melee bard, dual wielding short swords. But even then I always tried to avoid combat, it was a power focused game and with my HP, the mobs would one-hit-kill me.
She had a really strange past and calling and was a true believer that all things could be resolved in conversation other than fighting.
I would most of the times frustrate the DM plans, talking to the enemy instead of fighting then. Composing poems in their honor instead of spreading lies about then. And they would always try to convert me to the dark side before trying to kill me. And that is what always saved me.
The DM was not so interested in history or RP, but even then was a really cool character to play.

But now I’m curious about your experience.
Can you tell me about it? What was your fav char? How he was? What he did? How he did? :D

Far and away the most fun I had was when I played a elf ranger in one of my friends homebrew campaigns.

He ran from the forest of his homeland due to boredom, the pace of the elven life to slow for his liking. He was an absolute blast to play, and the party general response to him was more along the lines of

"oh gods, what did you get us into this time."

He was designed to be a scout but found being sneaky boring, so instead scouted by running headstrong around corners and then relying on quick wits and skill to either run away or win the battle. His big quirk was that he really cared nothing for gold, jewelery, etc. He still enjoyed the forest and found civilization a horrible bore so had never had a need for money. instead he got enjoyed amassing a collection of weapons. If I remember correctly At one point he had a pair of shortswords, a pair of longswords, 4 rapiers, a greatsword, 2 different bows, a mace, a light crossbow, 10 daggers, and a whole slew of random projectiles (at level 1). Had to create a special sheathe to actually hold all the weapons, and his carrying capacity was basically maxed via only weapons.

He was fiercely adamant about never lying, and there was more then one occasion where an arrow went whizzing by party members heads in warning when they were about to do something that could have broken his promises to others.

Campaign died far to quickly though, and never really got to progress the character very far, but he is still the one character that I remember fondly.

I was in a campaign that lasted about 3 years (played at least 1-2 sessions most weeks). I was a paladin (3rd Ed followed by 3.5 when it came out). That was my favorite character, though I'm not sure if it was my favorite campaign. He was fairly goody-good as was the original party. However, alot of 3.5 power builds catered to evil characters and thus most of the part turned evil. Eventually, the party split (this was just entering Epic levels, I think 22nd level). What happened is spoilered below.

The reason that was my favorite character was because the entire campaign was fairly tragic. It was a big reason why most of the party went evil (save my pld, a druid, and bard). The story was centered around our characters and the DM was pretty sadistic. I enjoyed my character, because he really was like someone from the greek tragedies. Nothing worked out for him. Orphaned, his love interest murdered by someone he trusted, his god was slain and he lost his powers for a long time (which sucked soooo bad), his friends turned evil and he couldn't stop them from destorying their home city, same friends killed one of the party members (the bard was originally a cleric, but had to make a new character), and in the end all of his friends (good and bad) plus his golden dragon steed were died (he had to kill the evil ones, they killed his steed and the good friends).

As far as his build, he was mostly built for mounted combat. He was my longest running character and maybe that was why I was so attached to him.

Final adventure:

The final "adventure" was just one large battle. Originally, it was supposed to be the 3 good party members (myself and two others) versus the 4 evil party members. The evil group had a prep session that the good party didn't get and in that session they managed to control all the planes of hell (I don't know how at 22nd level, so I called shenanigans, but no avail).

My character was the only one standing, but it was mostly due to the artifacts I had collected (we each had some, but my had been the most tailored in order to try to keep the party together).

That was actually the last time that group ever met. Was kinda sad.

Well, I’ve DMed far more than I’ve played, but I’ve had my moments.

Favorite DM NPC:
My favorite DM enemy NPC was an anti-paladin for a campaign meant to get a new player used to the game before bringing him into the groups long-term campaign. My idea for the campaign was a classic, clear cut, black and white good and evil style campaign. The anti-paladin had originally been a paladin who had fallen in love with a living saint. At his last battle they are attacked and his loves soul is destroyed forever. He dies at that battle, full of anger and rage. Several hundred years later his raw hatred and animosity cause him to come back to life as an anti-paladin. His primary concern is that if, after all of his dedication and sacrifice, the world sees fit to destroy the soul of his love, such that they can’t even be together in the afterlife, well, that world deserves to die. All of it. Cue Alfred from The Dark Knight saying “Some men just want to watch the world burn”.

Fun character. He traveled with a priest of war whose dedication to his god took the form of traveling with and chronicling the stories of heroes, and while that priest was neutral, he saw how the anti-paladin once was, and in some ways still was, a hero.

The PCs fought the anti-paladin several times, always losing and being left to face off with minions. Eventually, they figure out his history and that hatred and rage will only make him stronger. And here is where the special plot point comes in: the saints soul was not destroyed, but captured by a demon prince. The players find a way to go to the prison plane that the saint is kept on, and while they don’t have the ability to bring her back to life, they do free her soul. This is proven by her holy tree blooming once again.

And the next time they go to fight the anti-paladin, they present him with a bloom, he is confronted with all that he has done, and he switches sides, no longer an anti-paladin, but not a paladin either. Not until he can make up for what he did.

Oh, and he wasn’t the BBEG, a wizard that merged himself with a demon lord (in front of the PC’s, by sacrificing one of them) was. It was a fun campaign.

Favrite Player Character:

My favorite player character (which is probably more in line with what you were asking) is probably a character in a game of Mutants and Masterminds (a wonderful D20, point buy, super hero game. Easily one of the most masterfully created systems I’ve seen in a while, once you get used to it.) My character was a hacker girl that had stumbled upon an experimental AI that was a government project. This led to her being arrested and imprisoned, and she cut a deal to become a research subject instead of serving a life sentence.

So, after having some electronics buried in her, she could sense and control electronics remotely with her mind, do calculations/mental tasks super fast, shock someone with a touch, listen and talk over radio without equipment, see into the electromagnetic spectrum, turn invisible, climb walls, and jump rather high.

Anyway, it was a fun campaign, and we had characters from all kinds of backgrounds. The DM loves to roleplay, as does one of the other players, and so we worked out early on to have some nice drama going on. The other player was also playing a coerced test subject of a government research project, though more of a cross between Hellboy and John Constantine. So, my character starts to date / is falling in love with this male character. And imagine his surprise when he finds out that my characters best friend and lover is his daughter that he hasn’t seen in years because of his own imprisonment. Awkward love triangle ensues. That was a lot of emotional fun.

Crowning moment of awesome? A new enemy has just stolen the big plot mcGuffin from us and is escaping, alone, in a speed boat, standing at the back and waving goodbye to us (in proper overly dramatic thief fashion). I ask the DM “He’s still within range of my powers, right?”. And after a quick nod and a look of horror from the DM, I calmly inform him that the boat would kick into full speed and make a sharp turn to come back to the shore. And easily enough we had caught ourselves a thief.

Second best crowning moment of awesome? Well, as part of the final session of the campaign we were each told to think of one truly super thing to do. There were several BBEGs, and I just had so much fun with the one I picked. I hacked a satellite, and not just any satellite, but a solar power satellite that used an ultraviolet laser as its transmission medium: Link

So imagine this: it’s the dead of night, we’re fighting in a parking garage, playing cat and mouse. We’re both very stealthy and rely on the element of surprise for combat. After a tense bit of fighting involving me making cars try to run him over and him just hurling them back at me, I take a hit and get thrown out into a wide open plaza. My opponent approaches starting to give his speech about how much of a fool I am to fight him then, at the height of his power. And I just smile and tell him “Just remember, it’s five o’clock somewhere” and as he gives me a look that tells me that is the dumbest one-liner ever, the night sky begins to glow and light up, as a piercing beam of ultraviolet radiation envelopes and incinerates him. That vampire never knew what hit him. :D

@Zerik, yeah, I've lost posts before, and it gets annoying very quickly. What I've started doing is writing everything in a google doc first, that way it gets saved and I can work on it in bits and pieces and not have to be concerned if I need to switch computers.

Also, you may want to hold off on your murder plans for just a bit:

Cardinal Thorn wrote:
“Once the cargo is safely delivered, he will take you just south across the lake under cover of darkness and land you near the town of Aldencross. There our contract with Captain Odenkirk will be concluded.”

Thanks for the reminder Nahia. Someone might want to tell Zerik that because he is planning on killing them in their sleep. May as well roll with the mistake.

Thanks for the Google doc suggestion. I'll start doing that.

I'm very new to take top rpgs I just started playing around the last quarter of 2013.

Zerik is my first character to get pay level 1.

The character is most enjoyed so far are Zerik (though) he isn't very expressive and my Half-Elf Tiefling Rogue. She's very sarcastic, tends to get the group in trouble by overestimating her capabilities, and has caused some pretty fun RP moments in PFS PBP, which I find to be rare.

Hey. So today I was tasked with having to take a really out of the blue engineering shift work (i.e. 1-4AM). Have to go oversee some testing on a new train system in our city that I wasn't expecting to do, so I've been trying to get sleep/rest, change body clock all day, and have to leave right away. I will answer Sakkarot's questions tomorrow at work. I do want to RP some during this part. Just schedule has been super screwy yesterday and today.

Very nice map DM Aku. : )

And sorry for not being more active. I'm house hunting and it has been a major pain.

Oh, and about Sakkarot: while I doubt there would be much more time to talk with him, I was just curious about something. I provided information to him and asked him a question (well, clarified a question). Did he not answer before leaving on purpose?

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

He left because he sensed hostility from Zerik and Boredom from Seren, more than that, Zerik wanted to leave without even telling him. You can say he was offended, since he was trying to be a nice guy. :D

I'm waiting for Eric to continue. I was going to DMPC him, but then I was already going to do that with Zerik because of his trick.

Nahia will take the same alias she had before. To refresh:

Nahia is a lithe half-elven woman with light olive skin, slightly bushy bright auburn hair that falls down to her hips, hazel colored eyes, and freckles from her cheeks to her chest and shoulders. She is a little short for a half-elf, at 5’6” (167 cm), and seems as if she has spent a good bit of time outside, though not doing heavy manual labor. However, she does carry herself with grace and poise that belies her woodsy appearance.

Nahia wears a dark green, ankle-length dress made of fine linen. The hem of the dress is decorated with simple flower patterns in brown thread with lacquered beads in similar patterns around the hips and chest. The top of the dress clings tightly to Nahias bust and midsection, but drapes loosely after her hips. On occasion, her worn, brown leather, knee high boots can be seen appearing from underneath her dress, the dull, brass buckles running up her shin. She also wears dark green arm warmers that are made of fine linen and secured to her upper arm with a brown ribbon. The arm warmers fall down to wide sleeves just past her wrist. Her auburn hair is held at bay by a simple, silver hairband.

Ok, as for loot, I'm going to assume that no one wants any of the new loot (given the lack of claims).

So before we left on the ship, this was our last loot split (and I don't think anyone spent any of it):
Nahia: 353.33
Seren: 53.33
Eric: -336.66
Zerik: 653.33
Gumblejack: 623.33
Party: 653.33

The split of the loot since the ship is like this (assuming we can sell everything):
Nahia: 1548
Seren: 1585.5
Eric: 1585.5
Zerik: 1585.5
Party: 1585.5

So our total loot at this point is:
Nahia: 1901.33
Seren: 1683.33
Eric: 1248.84
Zerik: 2238.83
Party: 2238.83

We should probably pick up a couple more healing wands from the party funds, given the chance and considering the mission we have ahead. I suggest a half and half approach again.

Also, I could take some party funds make some more potions of Enlarge Person for you guys (25 gp each).

Tell me when you guys are ready to move on!

I've used Roll20 for pbp and it's not bad, More control for Aku and less control for us over the map (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Plus just checked and I can still access it from work so okay there.

As for Seren,

She will be wearing her usual disguise, though not nearly as well-kept; disheveled Brown-hair, blue eyes, and slightly more muscular build. Figuring it unlikely that a disguise similar to Nahia will work with the large mace and shield she carries, she instead alters her gear to look more like that over a well-traveled adventurer. Her armor dulled and scratched, weapons having lost the shine of new metal. Her breastplate has an obviously hand-etched Mitran holy symbol in the upper right corner.

She looks as if her whole adult life has been on the road, confidence and strength exuding from her that defies her smallish frame.

Also Ready to move on!

though some discussion I'm sure will be had at some point on how to spend our loots. I for one need to stock up on some pretty pretty onyx. I've got 4x4 HD worth of Minions possibilities now... so going to need at least a couple of gems (25 GP/HD to make undead).

So far agree with Nahia about the wands from party funds, possibly even some potions of cure light/moderate wounds may be in order, so that Eric and Zerik have some oh s+%& buttons of their own.

Also probably going to upgrade weapon/armor in preparation for learning Craft Magic Arms and Armor next level.

MW Heavy Mace - 312 GP
MW breastplate - 350 GP

Then Thinking:
Onyx - 200 GP (Max HD I can make from one casting w/o Desecrate, which I don't imagine I'll be able to find in a Mitran Town...)
Onyx - 150 GP
Onyx - 100 GP
Onyx - 100 GP

So: 1212 GP total spent.

I may wait on a lot of this as it may be thematically impossible to get weapons/armor of the designs I want in what I am sure is an innately good town, not sure how the blacksmith would take my demands for styling on the mace and breastplate.

Onyx may also be difficult to come by here as I'm sure its fairly common knowledge what they could be used for, so may be doubtful that it is for sale in a place such as this, likely they work in other less necromatic jewels. May have to wait till we burn this place to the ground and can find some less reputable places to make purchases from.

Not a lot of time, but just wanted to chime in.

Yeah, I wasn't sure either how easy it would be to get a wand of Infernal Healing either...

@Seren Minions, Yay!

I can make those potions as well, 25 gp for CLW, 150 for CMW. both Eric and Zerik should have a potion of CLW I made and donated to them.

When planning out loot, if we have time Nahia is willing to craft wondrous for others (I should be able to do just about anything we can afford right now in a single day) at 55% of the enchanting cost plus expensive material component cost. (So, usually 55% purchase price, maybe more if the items spell has a costly material component).

If what I just said doesn't make sense (again, just a quick post) or if you fundamentally disagree with me somewhere, just let me know and we can discuss.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

@Nahia I do not agree! Lets discuss! :D

Ya I'm torn on my minions atm.

On the one hand Bloody Skeletons are the obvious as we don't have a ton of GP for me to burn, plus I like the idea of getting to know the quirks of each minion and reacting appropriately.

On the Other hand. Skeletons. We are in a very good town where we are trying to be at least a little stealthy...Probably not a good idea.

Thinking Zombies might be more worthwhile for this little bit, regardless of their weaker stats and lack of robustness. See far more potential to Murder a guard, raise a guard, use the familiarity of the guard to get us through/past some situation that might not be able to otherwise. For the sneaky mission Zombies might be a better bet at this time...and then just right off the onyx expense as a consumable cost for this mission. Might pick up so 25gp and 50 gp onyx instead as well... sigh so many options for mayhem.

All this assuming that I somehow have the ability to get onyx in this town...still not convinced they would allow any here.

Quick drop in again.

@DM Aku, can we agree to disagree?

@Seren, I doubt that zombies (even fresh) will pass a casual inspection. People under domination spells can be identified with sense motive, and zombies are less human and their normal selves than that. So I vote for bloody skeletons.

Sorry for the delayed posting but I've been working 16-18 hour days and I've had no time. I will probably be like this until the end of next week, so if I'm slowing down play please DMPC me.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Hey, how you'll have been doing?

I know I've already said this once, but I want remember you guys of our agreed posting rate!

If you think you will not be able to post, drop me a not as Zerik did in discussion and I'll DMPC you as best as I can from your previous post.

I know it's boring to keep saying the same things, but last weeks were really slow talking about game pace. I want to keep the game moving on and exciting for everyone. :)

Dark Archive

I'll have my next post up and my character sheet updated within 24 hours.

@Nahia or anyone really.

Got my laptop fixed today and with it a spreadsheet someone made for craft alchemy that I've updated over the years. It includes every single item you can make with Craft Alchemy (Including poisons/drugs), how much they cost to make, if you have sufficient skill to make them, the time it takes to create, and a description for the item.

Only thing it doesn't include is potions as there is just too many of them and the rules for them are pretty cut and dry so didn't really feel the need to include them.

It's an excel spreadsheet so if your interested just send me a PM with an email address and I can send it to you.

Sorry about that. I assumed that posting here was good enough for the posting rate, and I was waiting to hear a little more from everyone before starting to post back in the main thread. I'll try to be more active. : /

Ok, so time to spend my cash. Planning on purchasing materials to craft the following (as we discussed):
Pearl of Power I (500 gp)
Partial Witching Gown [+1 Resistance, +2 to bluff] (800 gp)

Also, this is my first opportunity to buy some scrolls! So I'm going to expand my magic a bit and buy a scroll of each of the following:
-- 2nd level - 150 gp each --
Scroll of Blindness/Deafness
Scroll of Levitate

-- 1st level - 25 gp each --
Scroll of Ill Omen
Scroll of Infernal Healing
Scroll of Burning Hands
Scroll of Command

Let me know if I won't be able to find a scroll of Infernal Healing. It is an "evil" spell, so I doubt it would be easy, and I obviously wouldn't just ask for it.

I could use some help coming with a name for the panther. That's the one thing I've been really struggling with. I'd love some suggestions.

Any time I do stuff with names, I go look up name meanings and try to do things that seem thematically appropriate. Here is a site that I use:
Behind the Name

I'll look through later and make some suggestions.

@Zerik, you can determine the cat reaction. It's your cat after all.

Ok, name suggestions (assuming a male cat):

Belenus - bright or brilliant
Drusus - Strong
Jarek - Fierce, Strong
Lorcan - Fierce little one
Vidar - a norse god, whose name probably means "forest warrior"
