@Samoon: good luck!
@GM: Nice!
Marianne, you have the following ability:
'When attacking (ranged or melee) while flying, you gain a +1 on attack and damage.'
If I'm not mistaken, you don't currently have the ability to fly, but I imagine at some point you will :)
Female CG Sylph Ranger (Stormwalker) 3 | HP: 19/19 | AC: 15 (14 Tch, 11 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 18 | F: +3, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: +8, SM: +2 | Speed 35ft | Active conditions: none
Ranger 3
HP 14 -> 19
BAB +3
Saves +1 Will
Skills more of the same
Feats:
Endurance, Rapid Shot
Features:
Favored Terrain (forest) +2
On this note, can we discuss changing Marianne's Knowledge (Religion) to a Lore skill with a bonus? I don't think it makes sense for her to have knowledge (religion), she wouldn't have cared about other religions, and I feel like she should be more knowledgeable about Sky than normal as well.
Is Lore from Unchained? It sounds familiar and I understand the kind of thing you're talking about, just wondering exactly where its from.
I found it on d20pfsrd. Yes, a narrower focus makes sense for the character. For now we'll make it a +2 bonus in exchange for applying to less situations. It will increase again in a handful more levels.
Female CG Sylph Ranger (Stormwalker) 3 | HP: 19/19 | AC: 15 (14 Tch, 11 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 18 | F: +3, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: +8, SM: +2 | Speed 35ft | Active conditions: none
Sounds good, I'll make the change.

It doesn't make sense to discuss these right now, but there are several topics that have come up that I don't want us to forget about:
-The inheritance/the contents of the locker in general
-Albreane
-the dragon/rentwyrth
-Pugliesi
-Ferri (context clues we were given clearly indicate he was dead before he attacked the mercenary)
Anything I'm missing?
One thing I can put to rest, since you had a few rounds of tying up the guards, etc to examine the blood more closely. It was starting to dry a little bit at the edges because he was likely stabbed almost the instant the door was shut and you all started looking through the box. It was five or more minutes of taking it out, unlocking it, and you all looking at one or two things. Though Ferri was "mostly dead", he had just enough spirit left to stab Pugliesi and then die.
It may be easier to hash this out in Discussion instead of extended ooc stuff in Gameplay.
--Trying to retrieve your sick mother?
--Leaving town immediately?
--You realize that the guard who let you in at second or third candle this morning did not give you any entrance paperwork - that could cause a complication at the gates.
Alchemist Grenadier 5
We should check on Mother and see if she should stay or go. Taking her out into the wilderness isn't such a grand idea. Albreane is being sought after, as are we. However, we could also play 'tag' around town--I'm all for getting the drop on Pugliese and finding out a bit more from him.
I'm reasonably certain there would be at least one "second" to the idea of seeing Mother first, so I'll do a short update now.

This doesn't affect anything really, but as I'm writing the campaign diary, right here at ~20 pages and ~1000 posts I would call it the end of "Book One".

That sounds more than appropriate to me.
All: if you'd rather not take point on any sort of plan for getting out of the city, just put "challenge" in the discussion. If I get two or three of those, I'll move things forward with a skill challenge to get out.
Male Neutral Oread Magus (staff magus)(Elemental Paragon) 9 | Arcane pool: 6/7 | HP: 65/65 | AC: 18(+stf bonus) (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | BAB: 6, CMB: +11, CMD: 23 | F: +9, R: +7, W: +10 | Init: +2 | Perc: 2, SM: 2 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: None. | Spells: 0th: AS, Det. Marianne PMed me (her post wasn't posting) with a "challenge" as well. Wamblee's neutral post implies to me perhaps half a "challenge" vote, to be presumptuous.
So:
Forge is a difficult city to leave without being noticed. You are leaving by the gates, and Pugliesi may be looking for you too.
Skill Challenge!
--DC for a success is 15.
--A given character can only succeed with a given skill once. Gotta find another skill to succeed with after that.
--Each PC will roll with one chosen skill, and, depending on the result, post a short description of what their action looked like. After all four have been posted, I'll put together a "results" post and we'll do it again.
--The following skills are definitely applicable:
Bluff, to explain what happened to your day pass (you should have one)
Diplomacy, but this costs 100 gp ("don't worry about us")
Sense Motive, to see the best way to approach the guard (their mood)
Perception, to avoid be tailed (only ONE PC can roll this, then find something else to do)
--Other skills CAN be applicable, but only with a reasonable in-game explanation. A shaky explanation may add +2 or +4 to the DC.
--Successes will get you closer to getting out of Forge
--Failures will NOT lead to inevitable death etc
Note: I have also had players at my other tables do creative things like an attack, or a use of alchemy, spells, abilites, etc that might help, and I'm cool with that too (as long as it makes sense.
So everyone is free to pick and roll a skill for the first round!
The dragon (or whatever) was implied to be back in the mine in Rokerenge.
You have your normal choice for this trip - forced march to get to your destination early in the morning (I think,I'll double check) which will likely make you fatigued,
OR sleep somewhere on the way (like the inn, or off the road, etc)
Just type 'inn' or 'march' for your choice.
Female CG Sylph Ranger (Stormwalker) 3 | HP: 19/19 | AC: 15 (14 Tch, 11 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 18 | F: +3, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: +8, SM: +2 | Speed 35ft | Active conditions: none
Marianne would vote for inn, but I'd like to point out the issues with both options that I see for others.
Everyone is tired and some of us are still pretty badly injured. Resting at an inn would definitely help with that, but it gives guards more chance to overtake us if we are being pursued. And of course a forced march fatigues us while likely preventing most pursuit from reaching us.
Male LN Oread Monk (Student of the Stone) 7 | HP: 58/58 | Temp HP: 0 |AC: 16 (16 Tch, 10 Fl) | CMB: +12, CMD: 23 | F: +7, R: +7, W: +9 | Init: +1 | Perc: +13, SM: +11 Darkvision | Speed 30ft | Stunning Fist: 7/7, Ki 5/7 | Acid Resistance 5, DR 4/Adamantine | Active conditions: 0 non-lethal damage.
Inn. We lack healing capability and have wounded. It's a risk, but less of one than either the guards catching up anyway or us arriving exhausted.
Alchemist Grenadier 5
Sounds like a plan! I'll update tonight.
Whenever you get around to check the strong box more thoroughly -
I threw out an initial estimate of >2000 because you didn't count it, but now that someone can count it or eyeball it the total is actually 8000 gp. Samen, since you are carrying it currently, please put that in your inventory.

That’s a lot of savings for a miner...
Anyways, I apologize for being so distant this week, it’s been pretty hectic. If next week goes this way too, I don’t think I can really justify continuing to play, it just wouldn’t be fair to you all.

@Marianne: I for one would be willing to wait for a bit if you were temporarily busy.
Same here! If there's a light at the end of the tunnel, I can bot you here or there.

I figured as much, but I more meant that I don't know that this will be temporary. It should be only an occasional thing, but I really can't say for certain.
That's fair. You are ultimately in control of whether you withdraw from the game or not, but personally I would prefer your excellent posts (even if you think they will be sporadic now and then) versus losing them.
The one caveat I have though is if you anticipate only being able to post say 2 or 3 times per week, I won't be waiting on Marianne before I continue a scene.
If this ends up going too far and you feel left out of the narrative, please let me know here or in a PM. It is never my intention to shut players out.

That was the other reason I am thinking about bowing out. I don't want you to slow the game down by waiting for me even if everyone were willing, and I am starting to feel left out. To be clear, I don't feel that you are unfairly leaving me out, the story is going at a fine pace, I am just missing important parts.
Ah, I understand now. It sounds like you haven't made your decision 100%, and ultimately it is your decision. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

I mean...your decision, yes. That was what I meant to say.

I’ve been wondering for a while, but keep forgetting to ask. What’s the weather like without Sky? Bree mentioned tornadoes. Are those mythical at this point? What about storms?
There are still clouds below the "ceiling" of of the Dark, so there is weather, in the traditional sense.
1) The only true heat source is Volcano, so the far reaches of north, south, east, and west are all very cold. In addition, Volcano's material body is not perfectly symmetrical, so even the cities close by (Forge, Hearth, and Light) don't get the exact same heat. Southern Hearth tends to be the warmest.
2) Precipitation and wind are usually about as "exciting" as weather goes, with one exception: Sky's Tears. This is a Storm with a capital S, that is (best guess of general population) one hundred miles across. It tends to stay on the outer reaches of the land, but it will sweep across the inner lands every few years. Tornadoes, hurricanes, hail, lightning - Sky's Tears has all the violent weather that the rest of the land is lacking.

No worries, life gets busy sometimes!
Alchemist Grenadier 5
I'm out this weekend and may post less.
No worries. I'm going to let the scene sit for the weekend, so everyone feel free to RP with others in your room (els in one room, eles in the other). Let me know if you are up to anything during the night or just sleeping.
Marianne makes a good point - I didn't explicitly say it, but you slept through the night, so you all regain your powers and such.
Also, just regain all your HP. If you are in a bad situation (lost in a desert or something) you might not regain all your HP for resting, but under ideal conditions it's A) simpler and B) more fun to just regain your HP.

Update: I will be unavailable Thursday and Friday.
And since we're heading into a little down time, here's a fun little RP question:
What does you character want most, right at this moment?

To revive or rediscover Sky. I know you said at this moment, but that's pretty much always on her mind.
Marianne - good point on the windy bull rush.
My thought is -
A) If you have a spellcasting class (like Ranger or pretty much the Alchemist), use your primary casting stat since that's how your character is used to make supernatural things work.
B) no spellcasting defaults to charisma.
So go ahead and use wisdom from now on!
Samen - the north and south mooks entered the building after the spell. I always appreciate error-checking though!
