How does this look for starting gear? Anything inappropriate for a monk in this setting?
Equipment:
Monk's Outfit ___
Dan Bong 0.1g
Kama, double-chained 8 gp
Lungchuan tamo 5 gp
Sansetsukon 8 gp
Shuriken (20) 4g
Kit, Fighter’s 9g
This kit includes a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a flint and steel, an iron pot, a mess kit, rope, soap, torches (10), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin.
Heh, it’s funny seeing the contrasts between Marianne’s gear and Wamblee’s, my characters are always broke because I like to have a bunch of situational equipment.

I had to increase Samoon's strength because alchemical gear. And he doesn't have much cash to buy things to throw (alchemical fire, tanglefoot bags, etc) yet!
Well, first we have to deal with our dysfunctional family. :D
Perfectly alright to make some adjustments here and there - I'm not much of a stickler for "you made a mistake so live with it for the next three years!"

Thanks! We'll figure it out once we get adventuring. I have cash. I don't mind a little jolt of strength so Samoon can get a composite bow at some point. :)
Samen - I'm curious, how do you envision your tattoos? Is this like head-to-toe "Illustrated Man" type stuff with pictures? Are they more abstract, geometric? Text? Only a few here and there?
No, it's not pictures. It's all runes from the different archaic scripts of the different languages. They are not terribly dense, but they cover his body. Anywhere he can reach, anyway.
On his forehead, in Slyph: "SKY ABOVE"
On his chin, in Oread: "EARTH BELOW"
On his left cheek, in Ifrit: "FIRE BURNS"
On his right cheek, in Undine: "WATER FLOWS"
Across his nose, detectable only with magic, created with 'Arcane Mark', in common: "ELEN"
Let me know as a group what your approximate availability is over weekends. In my other tables, it seems normal for weekends to be slow/nonexistent, which is fine, we all need breaks. I want to make sure we don't leave anyone in the dust.
For sure I will be largely unavailable this Saturday (traveling)
Sorry that I haven’t said anything on here, I have lately just had the gameplay thread open, so I missed stuff. I’m usually able to post more often on weekends, but my schedule varies by the week, so I am busy different times and days, but again, weekends I usually have more time.
Games where the PCs are family can be tricky, since you'd expect a certain level of knowledge about each other. But bringing us in on the creative process has helped a lot with that.
I think it's been going great so far! Thank you all for taking the effort to write as siblings, and coming up with quirks and stories about each other.
Spawn aren't really known for resistances to bludgeoning or anything like that. They also vary somewhat from spawn to spawn (ones that look alike tend to have similar characteristics though)
Knowledge Arcana and Knowledge Planes are both good for identifying weaknesses of spawn. Knowledge Religion would require a tome or other resource to research to gain info about spawn.
Understood. I couldn't find many details about darkspawn in the campaign info. Been trying to work out what would be commonly known and what a learned person might know in addition.
Just to note, Wamblee's double-chained kama has both the reach and trip weapon properties. So by default for the time being, he'll try to trip incoming enemies if he sees them first.
Apologies, I was occupied yesterday and had trouble catching up until now. This weekend my availability will be haphazard but I should be able to get at least one post in on both weekend days.
Now that the game is more officially "on", here's a quick rundown of the stuff under Campaign Info. Peruse as you will, certainly not required reading.
"Timeline etc" is where I try to keep a summary of each page so I can recall what happened twenty pages ago. NPCs and locations have entries too.
"Play by Post Formatting" is pretty standard stuff. I also list what to use for each of the languages, for those curious.
"Maps and Cities" is extremely Hearth-centered right now, as that's where I've spent the last two or three years' worth of campaigns in. More on Forge will be forthcoming :)
"Gods and Magic": Gods, the planes, and magic, as the title says. Also goes into cosmology (like elementals are roughly angels, and genies are roughly devils, since positive/negative and good/evil aren't as important as the basic elements)
"Society and History" is a mishmash of stuff, including clothing, because one of my other players was interested in that detail.
Speaking of which, if there's something that you are interested in that you don't see, feel free to inquire!
Updated the Dark entry to include basic characteristics of spawn and worshipers of the Dark. This is relatively basic stuff that anyone well-read or well-traveled such as yourselves would be likely to know (or not, if it doesn't fit in your background)
A heads up. Between friday 1st June and sunday 3rd June, I won't be available at all. My availability on the thursday and monday is also likely to be very limited. So realistically, I'm not likely to post much from Thursday May 31st until Tuesday June 5th.
