Yeah, Erret would have cropped up in stories. Liberally sprinkled with swearing most likely.

Hubristic Efreeti |

I don't have a map up right now, but since you were all able to move into position before combat actually started, you can basically be in whatever advantageous place you want to be. Iniga has her action to take, and Samen and Wamblee can post their Round 1 actions as well.
I'll plan on putting up a map tonight.

Wamblee Firenze |

I currently have an earache so my response time might be affected.

Between stony step, step up, and combat reflexes from Wamblee alone, I don't think Erret is getting away this time.

Wamblee Firenze |

I completely forgot to include that. I will indeed.
Edit: Done!
When you say declare actions, do you mean for this turn or another set?

Samen Vloe Firenze |

I would guess round 2 actions. I think we jumped the gun, but it seemed appropriate given that round 1 results had been posted.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

Yeah, nothing in particular I need to be doing.

Iniga v'Breda |

Updated profile to include the Hand abilities and suchlike
I forgot that I still had a command word to unlock so I might as well roll for them since its already been a couple of days travel and its probably going to be a couple more before we get to Light.
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Gallant Inspiration: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 Yay finally a success
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
UMD Hand DC 30: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damn thats a high DC. 1/3 Successes so far

Wamblee Firenze |

Fingers crossed for command word!
I'm fine with moving on.

Wamblee Firenze |

Sorry but I'm pretty frazzled. I'll refresh myself properly on what we're up to tomorrow and post.

Iniga v'Breda |

Yep everything is fine. We just got to Light on Friday and unfortunately over the last week iv been working to get a draft of a business process ready for our CEO.
Deadline was today so feeling hopeful that activity will improve a bit in future since the current deadlines / timeframes we are working under are uncharacteristically shorter than they have ever been due to the pandemic. I'll still be busy for the next month but hopefully it should be less frantic than its been in the last few weeks.

----------------
Goals
1) Samen wishes to increase his mastery and understanding of the elements.
2) Marianne at this point wants to learn how to survive without relying on the gods.
3) Wamblee wishes to find a true path for oreads to live; also concerned with chaotic events
4) Iniga: peace. Hearth, other races, sylphs, etc She probably wants to get political/leadership
5) Samoon is finding Bree. (if possible)

Hubristic Efreeti |

For context Iniga - this is another story you would have heard on the road.
Rentwyrth, a rich citizen of Rokerenge, was the cause of Hotah's (your uncle, everyone else's father) death. Hotah uncovered a strange operation under the mines -- there was a strange dragon-like thing that Rentwyrth was trying to grow, perhaps to sell.
Renntwyrth harassed the Firenze family, trying to sue them for the Firenze inheritance, blaming Hotah for negligence in the mines.
Bree, Samoon's dead love, is Rentwyrth's daughter. Before she died, she helped the Firenzes get their inheritance. They ran into trouble with Rentwyrth, and Samen killed him right in front of Bree.
Joseph Rentwyrth is the son (Bree's brother). He went to the University with Samoon. They were friends before all this started happening (but now obviously not)
Phew, even condensed it's quite a lot. Yay plot!

Wamblee Firenze |

Even at the speed of pbp, a lot can happen in two years!
Edit: GM, would any of the rest of us have met Joseph? Or have had heard stories about him?

Hubristic Efreeti |

Joseph grew up in Rokerenge, and then he and Samoon went off to the University of Alchemy at the same time. So you certainly met him during your childhood and early teen years. You remember a thin sylph with asthma, who tended to look down on those who had less brains or money than he did.
(He and Marianne were also an item for a while before he and Samoon left)

Samen Vloe Firenze |

I was fine with the bolding, but the italics is fine too. What might reduce confusion more is to use a colon and/or carriage return.
Ingia: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit...
or
Ingia:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit...

Iniga v'Breda |

Yeah Bolding has been fine for months - it was just in this specific conversation things were not clear if either the NPC was speaking my name or the GM was.
Samen's formatting idea still works fine, a colon or spacing option (like in his second option) just makes things smoother. Italics is fine too though.

Wamblee Firenze |

That is no issue to me.
It benefits us all, for starters.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

that's reasonable.

The blurb for Spears of the Dawn, an African-inspired fantasy RPG. Sine Nomine Publishing do excellent work.
Enter a World of Splendor and Blood
In the marketplace, flame-tongued griots recall the glories of dead heroes to set the people ablaze against their undying Eternal foes. In the palace, mighty warriors stride among pillars of carved ebony and bright jewels. Beneath the earth, daring adventurers plumb the mines of ancient kings, veins of gold shining in the flickering torchlight. And in the forest, masked ngangas utter the sorceries of their ancestors to break the bleak curses that witches have hurled upon their people.
In this complete game in a single volume, you'll find...
A complete African-inspired campaign setting
Old-school compatible classes for ngangas, griots, and marabouts
New spells, magic items, and foes from African mythology
Focused GM tools for building sandbox campaigns
Tools for managing the background strife of restless kingdoms
Resource tables, unkeyed maps, adventure creation tools, and more!Spears of the Dawn is an African-inspired game built with the free, award-winning Stars Without Number system. Within this book you will find all the tools needed for adventuring in the wild and brooding Three Lands, where the bones of ancient Obas rest uneasy in cities of stone and blighted memory. Dare the tombs of the bitter Eternal and the courts of leopard-mantled kings to find the wealth of a new world!
Perhaps further inspiration for the Oreads?

Wamblee Firenze |

I may not be able to post again until Saturday. Just a heads up.

Wamblee Firenze |

How far from Wamblee is Inara? Or anyone else for that matter? Just in case he feels the need to use Treacherous Earth.

Wamblee Firenze |

Duly noted!
Wamblee has a shot at fleeing if he needs to. But he is going to try and defeat the golem.

Wamblee Firenze |

Cheers! I am most glad that I went down the Pummeling Style route for unarmed combat, and that Inara was amenable to urgent requests. :)
I'll likely be able to post again tomorrow but then won't be available until Monday.

Iniga - fair points about the illusions, but here is what I consider to be the ultimate weakness of illusions - once you know to be on the lookout for them, they are possible to disbelieve.
--So for instance, when you didn't know "Benny" was NOT Rentwyrth, you're right, I didn't give you any perception or will checks etc, because even if you touched his arm, there wasn't anything "different" enough (still a sylph el with the same basic body type) to warrant a check like that.
--For something like a face though, if someone were willing to allow you to thoroughly touch their face (basically Take A Standard Action To Interact With An Illusion), then I would allow for a potential Will save to disbelieve.
--I don't remember you casting detect magic on "Benny" at the bar when you met, but if you did so, please let me know! I want to make sure I'm playing the game straight.

Iniga v'Breda |

Fair point about illusion spells having that pretty critical weakness, and you are absolutely right, I didn't cast Detect Magic.
That was mostly because by touching him, leaning against him, talking to him etc I assumed that I was interacting with him for the purposes of revealing an illusion spell.
At the end of the day I don't mind how you rule illusion spells but if the only way to detect an illusion disguise is for someone to willingly allow you to touch their face then I'll be using Disguise Self + Mask Dweomer a heck of a lot more often because that becomes extremely powerful.

Illusions are something that can be quite the headache at tables. Paladin morality being a worse offender. ;)

Hubristic Efreeti |

I think the one caveat here is that only when you are disguising yourself as someone remarkably similar to yourself (same height, build, and race, in this case), then the "interaction" bar will be set higher (touching face, or something besides just body/arm), whereas if you are trying to be anyone else (different hair, height, race, etc), there will be a much lower standard for "you feel that something is out of place" kind of thing.
Agreed that illusions can be a bit of a pain - one more reason to dislike Rentwyrth :)
