We should barter with him. I'm sure we can get a better deal in gold. If not, we keep the wine!

Do you all want to keep RPing in town interactions, or would you like to fast-track and get back to the journey to Ravenmoor?

Remember, you can always sell any item at 50% of the listed value without any difficulty, unless you're someplace hostile.

I also feel like I owe you guys an explanation on the whole trade goods and bartering thing. I know that the CRB says that trade goods can be sold for the listed value, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. Merchants would actually lose money that way, since without a profit on the sale, they would not be able to cover overhead, and other things like that, unless they were upselling and using things like promissory notes/writs to hedge, and put off payment.

Anyway, I know it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but I don't want you guys to think I'm trying to short your characters on money.

Anyway, I tried to do it as fairly as possible, and I think it worked out pretty well, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone is having fun, and that we're not getting bogged down in stuff that you guys consider boring.

Rogue 3 | Init +4 | Perc +8 | AC:20/ T:16/ FF:14 | HP23/23 | CMB +5 / CMD: 15 | Saves F +4/R +8/W +2

I think your barter system makes sense, or the merchants would all be like The Change Bank.

I'm enjoying the in-town RP, as you're giving us info in blocks rather than having us play each and every question, but I'd be just as happy getting on the road again soon.

@PCs: are we going to ditch the wagon and cart? And keep a spare mounts?

Tekk is fine walking, but if the roads ahead are terrible, then taking the cart with us just means getting it stuck IMO.

Sczarni

I'd be willing to part with the wagon and horses. The cart I'd rather keep for encumbrance issues or else in going to need to sell off half my equipment but would be willing to do so if need be.

Selling Plod though is not an option though! He is a member of this family and will follow us through til the end!

Rogue 3 | Init +4 | Perc +8 | AC:20/ T:16/ FF:14 | HP23/23 | CMB +5 / CMD: 15 | Saves F +4/R +8/W +2

Fine job on the bartering, Chloe! It seemed like it didn't include the platinum ingot - or did I miss something?

What if we sell the cart and wagon, but keep the horses (we found 4) to carry stuff and serve as spare mounts? Hooves will work better than wheels where we're going, and they should be able to carry plenty.

p.s. - did some horseback riding in Costa Rica, actually galloped down a river with my 2 boys, both of them with their fists in the air shouting "Today we ride to Rohan, and to WAR!" Awesome time, and evidence that horses can go anywhere.

@Corbyn - I wonder how Plod is going to feel when the hippogriff enters the picture? Talk about sibling rivalry.

Extremely jealous!

What about the small cart? Should we risk it?

That's probably a good idea, Morin. Remember that a four-legged, large sized creature like a horse gets to multiply its standard carrying capacity by three for encumbrance purposes, so a light riding horse can carry up to 459 lbs. and still move at 35'. Heavy horses can do the same at up to 798 lbs. And, even Plod gets to multiply his carrying capacity by 1.5 (up to 75 lbs. before he takes an encumbrance penalty to movement.)

Also, don't worry about Plod and the Hippogriff. I have plans. Horrible, horrible plans.

When you break it down this way it actually makes more sense to not have a cart. My pack saddle should handle all my gear just fine. I don't know why I never came to this conclusion sooner?

Sell the wagon and the cart!

Sounds like we have a plan on the wheeled conveyances and livestock - excellent. And fine obsessive reading of the rules, GMPM - very helpful.

@GMPM - did we get paid for the platinum ingot? Blevythine didn't include it in his description of our goods, not sure if he's the person in Sandpoint who would deal in such things. (And do you what a BLEVE is? His name scares me, it's a very, very bad thing in my line of work.)

@Sarusa - I very much wish I had a video of it, but I was holding on to my horse for all I was worth, and my camera would have been completely soaked if I managed to hold on to it - just have to remember the red day.

Go back and reread Bleyvthine's last post. Weigh you options carefully.

Also, according to the CRB, platinum is worth 500gp/lb.

Rogue 3 | Init +4 | Perc +8 | AC:20/ T:16/ FF:14 | HP23/23 | CMB +5 / CMD: 15 | Saves F +4/R +8/W +2

@GMPM - thanks for the heavy hints.

We should have Blevythine weigh the ingot tomorrow when we go back - but before that it might be worth taking it to an alchemists's shop, or somewhere else where they'll have a good scale, to get an independent check on its weight.

Thinking about it as I write, we could also let that idea go, assume GMPM isn't trying to cheat us out of every possible gold piece, and get on with selling the ingot and geting back to adventuring.

I'm for plan B, even though plan A seemed so clever when I proposed it.

No, seriously. Say 'aplomb' and try not to laugh.

I couldn't do it.

We can move on if you guys like. Half value for wagons/carts/weapons etc. And all that delicious platinum. (2,000gp worth)

Let me know anything you might want to buy in town. As long as it's not too exotic, you should be able to find it. We can move on after that.

Rogue 3 | Init +4 | Perc +8 | AC:20/ T:16/ FF:14 | HP23/23 | CMB +5 / CMD: 15 | Saves F +4/R +8/W +2

Unless we've already got one, I suggest we take 750 GP off the top of our loot and buy a wand of Cure Light Wounds, and give Chloe a little extra healing ammunition. If you can heal with ammunition. Anyway, what do you all think?

And to my surprise, I couldn't do it on "aplomb" either, though I've used the word many a time without a hitch.

Karo - you mind doing the math on our sales, and letting us all know our take? Remember, halflings get double shares.

Not to mention other people could use the wand. :) Sarusa would be a good choice. Just thinking ahead, because lifelink becomes incredibly dangerous when one gets knocked into the negatives (you can't deactivate it while unconcious). Not to mention, there's always the chance we split up, or someone gets put into a lead-lined piano lid, etc.

I will work on adjusting loot sheet today. Should be finished sometime this evening. (Home alone with the kids today, so no promises ;). ). Question: Was the platinum alone worth 2000 gp or the ingot, wagon and everything else? Also do we sell back magic items at 100% value, am I correct valuing the Mithral Shirt at 1100 gp? I am also assuming we are keeping the potions of CLW?

The platinum alone is worth 2000gp. Magic items work the same as anything else. If you want to sell quickly and without fuss, you can get 50% value. 1,100 gp is the correct value on the chain shirt.

Ok I've got a tentative update and added a divisions page. If we are talking about wands and food and staying at the inn, should we take those costs out first? Also not sure if we want to keep rope, whetstones, hardtack & saltpork, shovels? Pitchforks? It's all listed on the loot sheet. Don't know if it worth anything. Advise please.

Rogue 3 | Init +4 | Perc +8 | AC:20/ T:16/ FF:14 | HP23/23 | CMB +5 / CMD: 15 | Saves F +4/R +8/W +2

Yes, let's take the cost of the wand, inn, food and animal feed off the top, then do the split. How about 10 days supplies for each of us? So that would 5 SP x 10 days x 6 PCs = 300 SP = 30 GP and 5 CP x 10 days x 8 beasts = 400 CP = 4 GP (if that's the right number of beasts: 6 from the loot sheet, Plod and Dodi - anyone else have a horse? Sarusa?)

So total for road food is 34 GP, and we can drink the cheap wine.

From the loot, I think we should keep the rope, tindertwigs, large tarp, and the saltpork and hardtack.

I don't belong here...

Wait a minute, I totally do.

Anyway, I think Corbyn will be very mad if you make him sell the mithral shirt, but I'm sure you guys could take him.

You guys are in luck, there is a wand of cure light wounds available for sale at the Feathered Serpent (#44 on the Map of Sandpoint.) 750 gp and it is yours.

Also, at the Goblin Squash Stables, the proprietor offers you the latest in halfling grain technology. A compressed cake of oats, grains, molasses and "secret ingredients" that can feed a horse or a mule for a whole day, and weighs only one lb. Cost is 1sp/lb. More expensive than feed, yes, but also 1/10th of the weight.
