I agree, combat went well mechanically, quality RP on part of players and bad guys, I'm having fun.
I can try to do the map grid work - haven't done it before, but doesn't seem like it'd be too hard, and I'd like to learn it.
@Corbyn - did you ever get the map to work for you?
@Karo & GM - Karo's loot sheet worked better for me than the maps - was able to open it no problem in Google Docs, where the maps I had to go through a little download step - maybe you had different sharing or other settings enabled?

GMPM emailed me the map but it was still pretty difficult to make out. Was 3/4 of it supposed to be white? I actually had a very difficult time during combat because I never knew what modifiers were appropriate at what time because I couldn't see anything.
What program are you using to do maps? Not to toot my own horn here but I'm pretty good with Maps. If you need some help I could probably just make them for the adventure and do my best not to metagame during play?
We should talk about how we want to do loot division in this group.
I was kind of hinting in the Gameplay thread that I would make excellent use of that Mithral Chain Shirt. I was going to save up to purchase one for myself but since we found one I could put my money toward other useful items. Right now I'm wearing a Masterwork Chain Shirt that could be traded into the loot pile and I could just make up the difference with our findings later.

Corbyn, your hints are so subtle! I had no idea you were interested in the mithral chain shirt. By the way, what's the formatting for text when I'm lying?
I think it makes sense for the chain shirt to go to you or Karo, depending on which of you is more likely to end up getting into melee as opposed to filling people with arrows.
Edit: ninja'd by 14 seconds!

I'm using a website called pyromancers and mspaint. Honestly, map making is not my forte. Corbyn, you and I can discuss this a bit further over email if you don't mind.
By the way, what are you guys doing in game? Moving the wagon, tying up your prisoner? Exploring the roadside buildings?
I'd also like to know who is taking what, and if you're leaving anything on the road.

Will work on an in-game post in a bit. First, I wanted to let everyone know that I will be travelling (to Costa Rica!) for 3 weeks over the holidays with my family, leaving about a week from now. Some days I'll have no internet access, other days I'll be able to post at least once and maybe more. If my lack of posting is causing any delays, feel free to DMPC me (or one of the players can run Morin, I trust you all).
I hope it goes without saying, but I've no intention of leaving this campaign and look forward to diving back in fully when I return.

I vote we start by getting rid of the bodies and removing the wagon from the road.
I second that. Weapons and stuff too. Wasn't there a horse with the wagon?

As much as I'd like the Mithral Shirt, I think it would be better with Karoz. If I play my character properly I should never get close enough in combat to actually take damage.
Trying to put me in the hole, and with only three coppers to my name. I will admit that the mithral would help with my encumbrance issues.
Encumbrance Issues- Do I need a therapist for that?

I was happy with combat, no complaints.
Maps are tough - I use GIMP, it's a free graphics program. Once you learn the basics (which are easy to learn with online tutorials), basic maps aren't too much. Another "technique" I use is to copy the map into PowerPoint, then add row and column headers, as well as character and NPC icons. I think it's easier than doing it in the mapping program. Just a thought.
Regarding loot, I'm pretty ambivalent. If somebody can use it, they get it. Sell whatever nobody wants. Try to keep everything relatively equal. From what I've seen, I don't think we'll have any problems.

Honestly I took Weapon Finesse, in order to get the best out of high Dex. Most battles he will probably fire off couple rounds with the bow and then wade in with sword and spell.

No not at all, I would say this battle has made it obvious who is the ranged man. I'm still on the fence about the mithral, the only benefits are weight and armor check penalties. Not sure if I want to start out 700+ in the hole, this early. Was kind of waiting to see what the buildings brought.

Howdy, gang. Sitting at home on a rainy Saturday watching a pack of 11 & 12 year-olds take their first stab at the full rules of Pathfinder, having only played the beginner box.
Pretty darn fun & funny. How's everyone doing?

            I'm doing well, thank you.
I tried to teach my 13-year-old brother to do the same thing, but continuity and rules-bearing situations were often out.
He also kept on trying to take over the narrative to such an extent that I gave up after two hours.

My middle daughter's birthday was today. So earlier we has about a dozen 4 yr olds running around our house plus family. Now half of my in-laws are staying at our house this weekend. So right now I'm enjoying the peace of my nightly 2.5 mile walk with the dog.

Yeah, Chloe, I think I'd find it a challenge to teach these kids, but the game is being run by the guy who runs the after-school PFRPG club at my son's middle school. He's used to 11-year olds DM'ing the beginner box rules, so a game that he's running is very much in comtrol by comparison. In any case, it's friggin' awesome to see my son and a bunch of his friends fighting goblins and embarking on what looks like a long careere of RPGs.

We had a coffee party/birthday party for my wife tonight. Really good coffee from Costa Rica; I don't drink coffee, but I appreciated the happiness of others. Plus fruit tart and pie and the requisite number of kids running underfoot.

going to Monteverde? Or Manuel Antonio?
Get the Leaves and Trees brand--only found in the airport--and get Naranjo. Best coffee in the universe, I'm pretty sure. I don't drink coffee, but it smelled really good.

Not going to Manuel Antonio - but I've got stays planned at two other nice beach spots. Definitely doing Monteverde, including a hike in to a research station where you stay overnight in the forest. We're basically doing a chunk of time in a quiet little beach town up north to start, then some time in the mountains to do volcanoes and rain forest, and then down to a beach town in the south to finish.
I hope not to sound like I'm crowing about it, I'm getting quite excited.
And thanks for the coffee recommendation, will make a great gift for a number of friends & family.

@GMPM - didn't want to bog down the gameplay thread with it, but wanted to discuss taking 10 and taking 20.
Taking 10 on the Appraise roll would not have gotten me to the 20 needed, so I didn't really consider that. But I take your point that if I I plan to take 10 on a roll, I'll need to make that clear in my post rather than rolling.
Taking 20 represents basically rolling over and over until you get a high enough result to succeed, so I presumed my roll would count as the first in that series. But in thinking about it, that's kind of having it both ways - doing it quickly with a roll, and if that fails, taking my time and taking 20.
Having thought this through as I'm posting, I guess all I'm left with is the question about Appraise and taking 20. If I fail an appraise check by 5 or more (as I did), my estimate is wildly inaccurate, so there is a penalty for failing, thus I can't take 20 with the skill. Right?
