Ok, problem solved. If it's ok with you GM, I traded out my Handy Haversack for Heavyload Belt (just discovered this thing the other day, triples carrying capacity.) They are the same price. I had an extra backpack from my pathfinder kit. If I put a bag with most of my rations and water on the cart(22 lbs Corbyn), I'm good. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier.

Drat - had a whole elaborate post written on my phone about watch schedules, horse feed, Chloe's unsuitability as a watch-stander (didn't know about life link, that's cool), etc., and lost it on the bus home.
Now much later, I'll catch up. Nice to see so much posting action!

Chloe Havener |

That really sucks, Morin. Lifelink is pretty awesome for watches, too. It's one way to pretty much promise you'll wake up when something hits the fan.
Today I will be teaching my final junior field lesson plan at the nearby high school all day(without access to any computers, that would be unprofessional), and thus will not be around until late afternoon.
Feel free to Dm npc Chloe if anything comes up. Code? Lifelink, channel, and Bless.

Re-read my last post several hours later and realized Morin and Chloe could have stayed on the horse and simply ridden over to the wagon to toss their metal in. Ah, well, my approach may not have been the smartest, but it had a sense of urgency.
I thought about trying to help others divest of their metal items, but it seemed like I should focus on getting Chloe to safety.

Chloe Havener |

We'll ride off as soon as it is decided, or perhaps sooner if it ends up being necessary. We don't want to be the tallest thing around, yeah...
Not that we'd want to endanger anyone else, but Chloe can't heal anyone if fried.

Morin Tidelock |

Wow, the gang's all here!
I have to say, I'm really enjoying the camraderie in this group. A lot of PbP players seem to want to be the baddest, meanest, whateverest, and this group has a much more personal style of interaction.
And my day was pretty good, all in all, Chloe. Thanks for asking. Yours?

Morin Tidelock |

I don't mind a little optimization in character building. But I do find that the most optimized characters are often a bit thin on flavor, and particularly in a PbP setting, that flavor really matters.
I guess that's a long way of agreeing with you, Corbyn. It's definitely about fun. I'm glad that this group seems to have a common sense of what's fun.

Chloe Havener |

Oh, awesome.:D
The campaign I run with our dear gm as a player feels a bit like this one in the good guy category (but I require it, as I've seen alignment conflicts spiral out of hand irl so many times I just didn't want to risk it). I can't stand it when someone plays a mean character just to create friction... Or optimize so much they lose story elements.
Call me old-fashioned, but my One Piece teenage addiction gave me a complex.
As for my day? I gave a presentation and got feedback on a final project in an art teaching methods class.
My professors doted a bit, but it felt good because I earned it.

Morin Tidelock |

Nice work, Chloe, congrats.
I reviewed a bunch of data on PCB contamination on a small island in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands, with the hope of convincing my boss to fund a project to go clean up the place and protect the habitat of endangered monk seals and green turtles. No idea if it will fly...
What's the other campaign you're talking about? I'd like to take a look at it.

Morin Tidelock |

I was reviewing a bunch of environmental data, from a few different times when people have been out taking samples of soil, sediment, fish and crabs. It's not too time-intensive, except that it's a lot of stuff to digest and understand so I can get the whole picture.
If anyone's interested, you can find it by going to Google Maps and searching "Tern Island, Honolulu, HI" though it's 500+ miles from Honolulu. I don't know if I'll get there, but it would be a killer project.

Karozekas Gostern |

Well your days sound more exciting than mine. I stayed home from work with a sick 10 month old and her 4 year old sister. During the day we drove 3 hours round trip ( 5 hrs total ) to pick up our vehicle from the mechanic.

Tekkis Smalltooth |

Only just saw this but wanted to say hello before turning off my phone for the night. Grats on the assignment C, and hope the project gets funded Morin. Hope your baby feels better Karo.
I've got the flu so my day was boring. But I'm feeling better! ( not really. Just telling my wife that )

Morin Tidelock |

Sorry to hear about the sick kid, Karo - it's tough when they're babies and they don't understand what's wrong and just want you to fix it.
My guys are teens and they love a sick day - in bed watching videos instead of at school? What could be better?
I'll update on the project should anything come of it - might limit my ability to post for a bit... But it's a ways off yet.

Karozekas Gostern |

Thanks, she is our third of three girls..so, it not uncharted territory and I'm usually the one who stays home, due to my wife's job. It's fun 95% of the time and hair-pulling frustration the other 5%. My 6 yr and 4 yr old girls are thankfully past the sick every other week stage.

So what are the samples looking at, chemical pollution I assume?

Morin Tidelock |

So what are the samples looking at, chemical pollution I assume?
Yeah, the Navy had an airstrip there in WWII, and the Coast Guard ran it as a LORAN (predecessor to GPS) station until the late 70's, and they buried a lot of junk there, some of which had some fairly nasty chemicals that persist in the environment a long time.

GM Psychic Machinery |

Chloe, do you mind detailing what damage has gone through your life link in your next gamethread post? And everyone, if you could include your perception, initiative, current/total hp, saving throws, AC (including touch, flat-footed and any modifiers like shield spells) CMB and CMD in your profile headers so I can see them in thread, it would help me immensely. Thanks so much!

Sarusa Almanthis |

Oh hai thar. Morin, are you an oceanographer or an environmental scientist? Or both? My background is biology. Er, and music.
And my evening was full of cooking, looking after my family, and then running out to see a friend who's visiting from Chicago. I hope he moves back, no offense to Chicago or its denizens.

Morin Tidelock |

I'm a scientist (chemistry, geology, public health - just enough of each to be dangerous), and do clean-up work for the EPA. Emergency responses (oil spills, natural disasters) and clean-up of chemical messes.
And I wish I had some music in me. I looooove the stuff, but lack the talent to make it happen. My boys got it from their mom, happily.

Morin Tidelock |

@Chloe - no way, you sound way more like you've got plans than I did. I studied Spanish and Italian as an undergrad because I liked to travel. Spent lots of time in other countries in college, had a blast, and then finished up and said "Now what?"
It's been a funny road from there to here.

GM Psychic Machinery |

@Morin - Yes, they do indeed have cover. However, since it is bushes, I have decreased the AC bonus slightly. Also, with the addition of the entangle spell, the bushes are at x4 movement, and the fields outside the road are at x3 movement. Just FYI.
@Corbyn - I honestly will not have the map up before Satuday, so if you want to post, please do so.
For everyone's ease of reference on the old map, you have killed the Javelin Thrower on the right side of the road furthest from the top (M1). The other two on that side have moved a bit closer to you (M2 & M3).
On the left side of the road, the two men furthest from the top of the map (M5 & M6)have moved down the map, but are still on the far side of the bushes from you. M4 is closest to the top of the map, and is thoroughly caught in Sarusa's entange.
Also, I'm glad to see you all connecting so well in this thread. In terms of character optimization, I like my characters to excel at their abilities, but not at the expense of flavor. I also try to avoid over-optimization.
For work, I am currently working on a project involving a very large oil spill from two years ago on the defendant's side. I work in the discovery section of the litigation. So I see lots of documents involving the EPA, NOAA, MMS/BOEMRE and various and sundry other government agencies. It pays the bills, so I can't complain. Next week I have a meeting with an attorney at the YMCA International to talk about taking over some pro bono case work for political/religious refugees, so hopefully that will go well. I used to play in rock bands when I was younger, but it's hard to fit in music with full time work, volunteering, pbp gaming, and being a dad so I'm pretty rusty right now.
