I figure out the XP today, pretty sure there is enough for level 4. Actually all that is left on the Island is one room, with a few more clues about the the Chopper, no encounters.
I think the options at this point are to go back to Thistletop or start the next module (and at some point go back).

Matthias Vale |

In his downtime, Matthias will spend his time investigating the island, so if there's anything there that adds to the creepy factor, you can use him to deliver it. Indeed, he would like to find out who owns the island and see about purchasing it if no one does.
Also, 4th level! Woot!

Scoria the Stalwart |

That might be a problem. As Scoria has the key to that particular vault everyone wants to crack open. She's fairly certain that whatever's inside there is insidious and deadly and it would be irresponsible to open it at all.
That said, I'm not going to have her stubbornly refuse to hand the key over, you just have to present a better argument for possibly releasing a demon than 'I wanna see what's inside there' first.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

That's okay, currently I don't think Thaddeus wants to check it out. As long as we maintain the key, he feels we are keeping it at bay. If something comes up that makes him think we should investigate, it will likely change his mind, but not yet.

DM-Valkur |

Bel' Tanis, since a +1 falchion is above the 1300gp base price for Sandpoint you won't be able to find one. But you could have one commissioned. You could buy the Falchion from Das and have the wizard Grandethus who runs the academy in town enchantment it for you.
We can RP it out if you want or just hand wave it...

Bel'Tanis |

That (roleplaying it out) sounds great to me. Since we won't be dealing with (presumably) Malfeshnekor immediately, Bel'Tanis can visit Das the following morning after the man's emotions have settled.
Did you want to jump forward a particular amount of time afterward (2 weeks? 2 months? x increments of time?) to kick off the next chapter?
That dagger can be redeemed?! That sounds like a sweet idea to me too!

DM-Valkur |

Yeah I like the idea of redeeming items rules from the Book of Exalted Deeds. I'll come up with an idea for it. Hmm since the Runelords are based on the seven sins, then the opposite of wrath would be compassion, I believe.
Also we will wind down Burnt Offerings over the next couple of days and start up Skinsaw. I believe we were going to have a month of downtime.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

...The seven virtues of rule (charity, generosity, humility, kindness,
love, temperance, and zeal)......evocation magic, wrath, and kindness
I know it is listed somewhere else, but I'm not sure where.
So, Kindness is the opposite of Wrath, based off what I've seen.
EDIT: adding the others
abjuration magic, charity, and envy.
conjuration magic, zeal, and sloth.
enchantment magic, love, and lust
illusion magic, humility, and pride
necromancy magic, temperance, and gluttony.
transmutation magic, generosity, and greed

Scoria the Stalwart |

I'd certainly enjoy the opportunity to turn an evil weapon into a not evil weapon. And for a month of downtime...I suppose by the time that we start the Skinsaw stuff, Scoria would have a new masonry job lined up in Magnimar, and is juuuuuust about to leave for it when this stuff happens and drags her back into adventure.

Khrondak Iron Forged |

'what will happen to Sandpoint if we leave Malfeshnekor alone'
I believe augury cannot anticipate complex relations, nor see very far in the future. Once I get divination we can ask that. ;)

DM-Valkur |

Okay we will move forward one month to the Skinsaw. That will give people time to train, research and work their day jobs.
Do we want to do any sort of upkeep? Such as making skill rolls for day jobs, cost of living, running a business, that sort of thing?
Some plot lines open plot lines from Burnt Offerings/Chopper's Isle.
1. Where did Nualia go.
2. Who is Malfeshnekor.
3. What happened to Notick.
4. Is the Chopper really dead.
5. The Dagger of Wrath.

Scoria the Stalwart |

Scoria will probably want to continue to do some work as a stonemason while looking for another big job, so I'm thinking that if anyone in town desires services such as inspecting foundations and the older buildings to see if they're in need of service, she's the girl. Otherwise she'll mostly be doing upkeep practice at the House of Blue Stones.

DM-Valkur |

For the downtime, I was thinking of using more of a simplified version than what is on the prd.
Basically any free day (not used in retraining, spell research and item creation) you can perform a skilled profession or craft roll to earn a small amount of coin. You can also do an unskilled job for 1sp a day.
Skilled: divide each skill or profession roll by 10 for each day to determine income, you can also take 10. For example, you perform instrument and roll a total of 20, you get 2 gp.
Also if you employed by an organization or business, you will receive a salary without rolling. Right now Bel'Tanis and Thaddeus have "jobs". Thaddeus can earn 2gp per day working with the watch. Bel'Tanis can make 1gp guarding the Sandpoint Cathedral.
Then select your lifestyle:
Destitute (0 gp/month): The PC is homeless and lives in the wilderness or on the streets. A destitute character must track every purchase, and may need to resort to Survival checks or theft to feed himself.
(From the PRD)
Poor (3 gp/month): The PC lives in common rooms of taverns, with his parents, or in some other communal situation—this is the lifestyle of most untrained laborers and commoners. He need not track purchases of meals or taxes that cost 1 sp or less.
Average (10 gp/month: The PC lives in his own apartment, small house, or similar location—this is the lifestyle of most trained or skilled experts or warriors. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 1 gp or less from his home in 1d10 minutes, and need not track purchases of common meals or taxes that cost 1 gp or less.
Wealthy (100 gp/month): The PC has a sizable home or a nice suite of rooms in a fine inn. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 5 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes, and need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 10 gp.
Extravagant (1,000 gp/month): The PC lives in a mansion, castle, or other extravagant home—he might even own the building in question. This is the lifestyle of most aristocrats. He can secure any non-magical item worth 25 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes. He need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 100 gp.

Khrondak Iron Forged |

Khrondak will offer to help Daviren with the stables in exchange for lodging and food. He can also hunt outside town (Survival skill checks) and help bring food to the table, or even sell some to the Rusty Dragon.

Matthias Vale |

Matthias would offer his services as an Alienist to the Guard. Taking 10 nets him a 19, thus earning 1 GP, 9 SP for each day he works. In a month let's say he works 10 days. So, 19 GP for the month. He'll aim for an average lifestyle. Ideally he'll look for a small studio-type apartment, though he'd be perfectly happy lodging in the Rusty Dragon if that's an option.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

Thaddeus is comfortable in the community, so would look to actually buy a house there. With his job as a member of the watch, he will become a resident of Sandpoint.
EDIT: So he will take the Average lifestyle (10 gp/month: The PC lives in his own small house).

Thaddeus Pruitt |

This is just a heads up. I will have limited accessibility due to travel from 25 Jul until 9 Aug. I will have my computer, but will only be able to post as the wife and available internet access allow.

DM-Valkur |

We did, on the way back took a day to go through Yellowstone. Six hours was not enough to see everything. I need to go back sometime and stay for a week.
Th geysers and the springs were really neat to see. The downside was Old Faithful had too big of crowd for up close viewing, but the lesser geysers you could walk right up to them and get the whole show.
Didn't see any animals though in Yellowstone, which I thought was a bit strange. But I suppose you have to hike in the back country to see the wildlife. Though we did see a young male moose jumping a cattle fence along the road in the Big Horn mountains in Wyoming.
