Thanks, John! I hope this monster gets me to the next round. Already working on my encounter, just in case - I had never realized how short the turnaround really is if you wait for the results. It's a TON of work. :P

Looks like you made it.
Good luck in the next round. And keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to your module!

Pedro, I just have to say again that I am really impressed with what you've brought to the SuperStar competition. You have certainly earned your place in the Top 8 and, in my opinion, the Top 4 as well. I especially liked that you picked the Worldwound as the place to set your entry. I think that shows some real savvy on your part, since if you do win, your submission will be coming out on the heels of the AP set in the very same place.
Regardless of that, I'd like the encounter if you dropped it anywhere at all. I think you've done an awesome job so far, dude, and I sincerely hope you advance to the finals. Kudos to you, sir!

John, thanks for the words of support. I can't really comment on the encounter because of the rules, but I'm happy you liked it; I know that at this point in the competition, some things come down to a matter of personal taste, so it gets a bit harder. I was kind of worried I'd let you guys down since nobody had said anything, but this comes as a relief and makes me really happy. Thanks again.
On a side note, in case I make Top 4, I'll probably come back to the game by the end of the month. If I don't, then it will be by the end of next week, I guess!

Scoria the Stalwart |

So, on a different topic, I've been looking at different feat paths for Scoria to take - as a Monk of the Sacred Mountain, she'll find herself standing her ground at higher levels, which is why I focus a lot on her shuriken, being able to support from a distance while keeping all those lovely bonuses from staying in the same spot. By level 9, I hope to have her gain Precise Shot, Clustered Shots, Far Shot, and Distance Thrower.
Precise Shot lets her fire off shuriken against enemies you all will be in melee with, while Clustered Shots (Precise Shot a prereq) will capitalize her flurry aspect by allowing all successful hit damage to be totaled before applying DR.
Far Shot reduces range penalties to -1 per range increment, and Distance Thrower negates the first -2 penalty from range increments with thrown weapons - a good choice considering the shuriken's low range.
Any opinions or advice on this feat progression?

Bel'Tanis |

@Scoria - I'm not sure how well Distance Thrower and Far Shot will work in conjunction with one another. If Distance Thrower allows you to effectively ignore the first range increment penalty, then w/ Far Shot you're just eliminating a single -1. Weapon Focus in place of Distance Thrower would net you the same benefit but it would apply to all distances, not just the first.
Precise Shot and Clustered Shot are both excellent choices. Deadly Aim might also be worth looking at. Opening Volley I think also has potential to be really good with your proposed build, though I think you're going to be tight on feats and I'd favor Deadly Aim over it.

Just a quick heads-up: We (me, hubby, and daughter) are going to Florida next week. We're leaving Sunday and will return Thursday. We'll be spending two days in Orlando (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure) with a one day side trip to Tampa (Busch Gardens). We will be bringing sufficient electronics (daughter's laptop, my Galaxy Tab and my Kindle Fire) to keep up with the posts, but I will only be able to post in the late evenings and not at all on Sunday (May 7) or Thursday (May 11). 17 hour drives aren't conducive to that, for some reason. ;) I'll have everything I should need with me, so there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Khrondak Iron Forged |

Thank you, John. I know criticism is what makes us grow, but seeing that you and other folks liked my ideas throughout the contest was very motivating, and helped me keep pushing myself. I hope things work out with Paizo and maybe other publishers, beacuse writing professionally is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I'll try to make the best of this opportunity.
Of course I am a little disappointed right now, and there is always that feeling "oh, I should've done this, or that", but we only get one shot each round, and to be honest, getting to write a PFS Scenario is also a pretty big deal. So, in the end, I think I came a long way, probably further than I thought I would. Plus, Steven put up a pretty solid submission, and my hat is off to him.
To sum it up, thanks for your support every round.
Now, let's kill some ghouls!

Have fun, a little R&R is always good.

Just as a suggestion to our party members with decent knowledge skills: Always helpful to identify what we're actually fighting so we can adjust our tactics accordingly. Knowing is half the battle!

I know this is probably a no-go, but could a Tiny sized dagger act as a shuriken to a Medium sized creature? Probably not, just thought I'd ask anyways.
Pretty sure the Scrolls and the Wand should go to either Notick or Thaddeus - I'm thinking Thaddeus for the wand as he wades into melee more often, using it as part of Spell Combat. Notick can have the scrolls as they're more ranged magic and he tends to hang about the back.
As for the Ring of Protection, it should go to the person with the lowest AC - in this case, Thaddeus. Can't have our leader falling in the front lines. Potion can go to a communal pool. All the rest, unless somebody wants them, should be sold, and the proceeds of which should go towards our new magical/masterwork equipment. Including bows and crossbows.
On the subject of the current ongoings in the actual game: I think that Notick and possibly Midori should go and seek out our expert, while the rest of us stay, examine/guard the strange pool, and possibly, you know, talk and get to know each other a little better.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

I was looking at the wand when we first found it, thinking I could use it for spell combat. Bel'Tanis is right, I do need an Arcana to use wands with my spell combat.
My first Arcana (3rd lvl) already goes to my Blackblade (ideally Whiteblade in my case). I can however, use the wand one round, then strike with it the next. I just can't do them in the same round.
As always, I'm reluctant to take more than one item from treasure, as I worry about having more than the others. I do, however, agree with gear going to whoever needs it most despite value.
As for Tsuto's gear, I had mentioned to Ameiko that as far as I was concerned her brother's things were hers to decide what to do with. She never responded.
As for who should go, sadly I have the most trained Knowledges (with some of the better scores), and Diplomacy (actually better than our bard's). Despite wanting to stay, he and Midori may be better to go. He would feel better with Scoria staying with all the heavy hitters (and one is the cleric) staying as well.

Scoria the Stalwart |

Not sure how you managed to have a better Diplomacy from Midori. But yeah, go ahead then and make that decision. You are the party leader, and I don't think anyone is going to object to Thaddeus actually saying, "All right, you guys stay here, we'll go get help." At the very least it helps to push us all forward through the story when the rest of us are waiting on others to act.
Debate is well and good, but if no consensus has been achieved after a day or two, that's a good time to steer us in the direction Thaddeus thinks is the best course. Unless Scoria thinks it's absolutely and completely wrong, she won't make any objections - well, so long as she's a deputy, anyways. For the moment.

Scoria the Stalwart |

All right, so, what's next guys? Are we going to try to immediately take on Thistletop right off the bat there? Or perhaps just take a day or two to prepare ourselves for the assault - rearm ourselves, get more supplies and magic and masterwork things (After Ameiko sells our loot and we split our shares), perhaps do some more team-building?
Personally, I'd rather enjoy it if the other party members (Particularly Bel'Tanis being a plane-touched himself) would attempt to get to know Scoria a little better. Develop her interest in the group beyond her sense of duty and obligation. Give her a reason to stay adventuring instead of going back to masonry.
If the majority rules to forge ahead with another dungeon crawl posthaste, that's good as well.
