The guard seems on edge but motions for the others to lower their weapons.

"Hmph. I can't say I trust your intentions, but rules of engagement are such that we can't take out unarmed civvies. I understand you're here to help, but I'm not sure why I shouldn't just escort you to the edge of camp and send you on your way. We have the numbers to take the city, that's all that matters."

Certainly, you have the numbers to take the city by force. It would take a day or two, brother killing brother.

Do any of you still have family there? Fathers, daughters, aunts or nephews?

Hundreds of not thousands on each side dead. You would occupy it, but they would always doubt.

Why would the true heir, who loves the populace do this to us... They would ask. The civil strife would be endless.

She paused a breath.

But, if he showed proof of his authenticity to the people. They would open the gates themselves and welcome him, as savior. A bloodless retaking of his lands.

I am at your mercy, but moreso... your people are, those here and those within the city. Their lives are dependent upon what happens next.

Will you be the one to invite peace or turn it away before He could assess this new option?

Desdemona slowly interlaces her fingers, hands above her head.

The guard narrows her eyes.

"This seems like a whole lot of big words coming from some unarmed civilian who allegedly wandered into our camp. I take it that you've got greater designs here. Probably didn't come here along either. So, bring your associates out. We'll take you to the Prince. If you're here to talk, then you can talk. If you're here to kill him, we won't give you the chance. How's that sound?"

Desdemona bows, her hands still above her head.

Wise beyond your years, I'm glad.

I'm happy to go with you as I've no desire to kill anyone; let alone a rightful Prince.

I can only speak for myself. And, you can have all my weapons save one rapier... sentimental value, I'm afraid.

I trust you will return them when I leave.

Elsa slips away to alert the party as to what is happening

Alright, who all is gonna come out with Desdemona, and who's going to stay concealed?

When did she mention she was not alone?

Elsa whispers She got caught. We need to decide now. Do we attack and rescue her, or withdraw? Cause I am not surrendering

Elsa looks at him disbelivingly
That would be foolish. That... She points at the camp is an armed camp. The best we would get is to be imprisoned. Or we will be killed out of hand. We only have a few choices. We leave, we attack, we wait for a better opportunity to rescue Desdemona

"I understand your opinion, Elsa. And I will not rat you out. But I do not see the need for unprovoked aggression, and I will not abandon Desdemona."

Lanatir moves out of hiding, sword sheathed and hands raised. He keeps out of sight until he is some distance from the party's hiding spot, then emerges.

"Hello. I wish to speak to Badashba."

I meant what I said that I do not want to ruin the game for anyone. If the preferred solution is for Lanatir to just vanish as if he had never been, and for me to leave the game, then that is okay with me. But I cannot find any of Elsa's options acceptable, and it seems that most of us were okay with talking.

The guard nods, "Another one. Not surprising."

Elsa looks at the fool, shaking her head
And watches.

Presumably Lanatir is taken to where Desdemona is?
He will keep his hands raised and his sword sheathed. If they wish to take his weapons, he will not protest.
