"Sometimes circumstances matter more than management skills." Is there anything else we wanted to ask the mayor? If not cleo will suggest going to visit the other mills tomorrow. Tonight being helping the others defend the store.
| Cleo Gingerberry |
"Even a great manager can't deal with horrible bad luck, or worse, forced bad luck. Meaning maybe he is in the situation cause bad people conspired against him... no reason to think it is one or the other until we get more information." Cleo just doesn't like thinking bad about people until she knows they really are incompetent fools, which the manager might be. "He just seemed really sad." she adds more to herself then Maria.

I would dearly love to see his books.
| Cleo Gingerberry |
thank you, your honor. Cleo tries to hurry them out of the office, to not take up too more of her important time. Want to find the others?
Maria the Great
|
Maria looks up to the sun in the sky. Sure. Nothing more for me to do until tonight.
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo shook her head I don't want to know do I?, she thought about it quickly. It wasn't stealing, just looking. Still...
Maria the Great
|
The fact you felt the need to say that suggests you don't. So, any idea where they are, minus the guy we left unconscious on the shore to be attacked by crabs. Maria thinks for a moment. Maybe we should go wake him up.
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Good idea They can also ask around to see if anyone has seen the others. Then go to the inn, Cleo promised to bring dinner over to the store they were guarding.
Maria the Great
|
maria doesn't know anything about that. Nor do I for that matter.
Maria the Great
|
But what's the question? And what does the Fuchsbau say?
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo will happily tell Maria every thing Furnok said when he startled her... though it was many posts ago and I personally cannot remember the little details. Store, bad people trying to run out the owners, going to come over tonight and do bad things, store owner hired them to spend the night at the store and drive them off (not kill them)
| Helgarr |
Helgarr takes a knee next to the goblin, checking for vital signs.
Untrained Heal?: 1d20 ⇒ 17
| DM TreasureFox |
Please let me know if I miss anything.
- As Furnok carries Ali into Sandpoint, he does see 1-2 goblins hanging around in the distance. They don't seem to be causing any trouble (surprisingly) at the moment. Helgarr runs up to Furnok while carrying a limp, bloody, but still living unconscious goblin. There are several places he could bring Ali for healing, so where does Furnok go?
- Cathedral (high level magical healing)
- Hannah the druid (low level magical healing)
- Ameiko and the Rusty Dragon (natural healing)
- Bottled Solutions (potions)
| DM TreasureFox |
Meanwhile, Mayor Deverin agrees mainly with what Cleo says, that a person's character shouldn't be judged so quickly without much information. She'll also mention that viewing Scarnetti books are extremely difficult to arrange, as the family is very secretive about their business.
Random Magic: 1d100 ⇒ 23
When Maria and Cleo reach the inn, they hear a gasp of surprise and stomping coming from upstairs. Unknown to them, Vandra has accidentally caused his bed to animate and jump around the room.

Maria looks up faking a look of fear. bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 What did you do to Ali? She shrieks in a terrified voice.

[ooc]I'll tie up the goblin just in case ;)
"We?" - Helgarr growls, dropping down the goblin and staring inquisitively at Maria - "What do you mean?"

Nothing, just nothing. Uh, what happened to him?
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo will run to the limp boys side and cast heal immeadiately.

Ali startles awake, jolting upright, his knife appearing in his hand as he pushes back and away from Cleo. He sits there panting heavily, his teeth gritted in anger, blinking around confused. He slowly comes to himself staring at the people around him and his surroundings, before dropping the knife in shock. "Light Cleo I am sorry... Th-thank you. And you too Furnok, Helgarr. I assume one of you carried me here and for that I owe you..."
He shakily picked up the knife, before sliding it back in to the sheath at hod waist. He looked down with a frown at the now ruined shirt he had been wearing over his leather. He pulled the shirt off over his head and dropped it at his feet, resting his head in his hands.
"By the gods..."
Maria the Great
|
Maria looks over at him. You okay? What'd these guys drag you into?
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo sighes happily, squeezing his hand No worries, you've been through a lot, we're just glad you decided to stay for a bit longer.
You can talk again!
| Alandrian Verium |
Ali laughs an embarrassed laugh, hugging Ameiko back tightly with one arm, as he shakes Cleos hand. "I am still here, I am not giving up yet. Thank you for healing me, really." He smiled at the woman, before turning to Maria.
"Yeah I am okay. I tripped and fell down a stairs before letting a Goblin get the better of me. I'll be okay!"
He smiled, extricating himself from Ameiko gently, holding her at arms reach before gesturing down at himself. "I'm okay Ami. I am fine. Furnok and Helgarr saw me safe, you don't have to worry!"
| DM TreasureFox |
Ali must succeed at a DC 45 Escape Artist check in order to extricate himself from Ameiko.
"Worry!?" yells Ameiko, more stunned than aggressive. "How can I not worry? You're just..." her voice trails off. Then with a huff, she stands up and picks Ali's ruined shirt off the ground.
"I'll deal with this. Make sure you wash off the blood and mud." As she's about to walk outside, her eyes look over Furnok, Helgarr, and Cleo. She seems like she's about to say something, but turns and leaves instead.

Maria looks over Alandrian before grabbing his ear to drag him upstairs to her room. Good, you're going to bed now. You need it. Should I make this a grapple check?
| Alandrian Verium |
Ali makes to call after Ameiko before stopping. He yelps slightly as Maria grabs a hold of his ear. "Oi! Steady on!" he laughed softly, before standing. "I will sleep, I will, just as soon as I wash up, eat and apologies to Ameiko. I promise!" He shook the grip loose, before heading outside, after Ameiko.
'Way to go Ali... you better not have hurt her more you idiot!'
"Ameiko?" He called out, looking around slowly.

Maria glares after him, her arms folded.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Vandra idly played with a bit of magic light, focusing on various books and scrolls he had shoved in his backpack while his mother cleaned and polished her glaive.
Nothing mechanically worthwhile, just various writings on magic and stuff.
As he went to turn the page, the magic spark jumped from his fingertips and fell on the bed. Not giving it much thought, he continued reading a scroll on the theory behind dimensional travel when he felt a slight bump coming from underneath him. Disturbed from his reading, he glanced around, trying to figure out what happened, when the bump happened again, only more forceful. The next thing he knew, the bed started jumping and slamming around, tossing the pillows and blankets off as Vandra held on for dear life.
Strength: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 Going for a DC 15, if that's alright
His strength failing him, he flew from the bed and crashed against the wall, coming to a rest next to his mother, who was holding her glaive in a defensive position in case the bed decided to attack. As they tried to figure out what to do, a knocking came from their door.
"Uh, everything's fine here!" Vandra yelled out, already embarrassed enough from his screw up. Before he could say anything else, the bed gave a mighty leap and jumped out of the window, crashing on the ground below and jumping off into the distance. "Er, who is it?"
| DM TreasureFox |
Vandra, thank you
As the bed throws itself out the window and down the street, the knocking became near frantic. After Vandra calls out, he hears the following: "I am Aldern Foxglove, head of the Foxglove family, and I DEMAND you cease this racket IMMEDIATELY, before I have the owner of this Inn expel you from the premise. What in the name of the Abyss are you doing in there!?"
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Rusty Dragon, Ali catches up to Ameiko. "What?" Ameiko asks, her emotions are difficult to read.

Sorry it took so long, internet is running slow and was taking care of the kid at the same time. Wasn't expecting for so many posts while I was a work!
Vandra grimaced as the man yelled at him through the door. The last thing he needed was for some noble to cause trouble for him. Looking at the busted window and damaged room, he amended to himself, 'Well, even more trouble, anyway.' Opening the door slightly so he can peer at the man without revealing the room's state, he said, "I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't mean to cause so much racket. It was just a little practice gone awry. I sincerely hope I didn't cause too much trouble, and I promise that it won't happen again." 'Won't happen again because Ameiko will probably kill me.'

I feel a disturbance in the force, as though a thousand pixels suddenly cried out in terror before were suddenly derezzed.

Yeah, I don't think this is going to go well, not well at all...

Maria grumbles making her way up to the second floor to her room in time to see the man yelling through the door. S++!, we're gonna have a Ford Anglia situation up in this b!@~*. Or maybe a Bedknob and Broomsticks.
| DM TreasureFox |
The nobleman pushes open the door to view the catastrophe before him. "What in all of the Inner Sea have you done?!" He yells out. Looking down, he sees Vandra's arcane books and scrolls strewn about the place. "Oh no! It cannot be! Help! Somebody help! This teenager has summoned a demon! It's running amok in the village!"
Maria the Great

Maria rushes over, pushing past the man. Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Maria looks around. Where's you're bed?
Vandra Geaux

Vandra is stunned as the man barges into his room, the door narrowly missing his mother-in-wallaby as the man glances about. When he starts screaming about demons, though, he gets upset. "Hey, I wasn't summoning demons! I would never do something like that! I don't even know how to summon anything, let alone a demon!" Vandra yells, trying to push him out. When, Maria comes it, he looks over and says, "Maria, tell him I don't summon demons!"
Maria the Great
|
Maria looks over the room. Didn't you bring your mom back to life? I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.
| DM TreasureFox |
Did I go too far?
"NECROMANCY!! What vileness! Disgrace and misfortune to all who follow such a twisted path. I must summon the guard! Bring in the military! Call down the divine heralds!" he rushes down the stairs, desperate for help. Upon reaching the bottom he suddenly regains his composure.
"Ah Mr. Furnok. I must inform you that there is a necromancer upstairs, and he has just released a demon upon the town. I would be happy to reward a hero such as yourself to take down the necromancer, and put to death the demon he has summoned."
| Alandrian Verium |
Ali rested a hand lightly on Ameikos shoulder, his face serious. "I messed up, okay? I am sorry, I was reckless and stupid and... and just unlucky. I am sorry I did not be more careful, I am sorry I let those damn Goblins get the better of me, but I am not sorry I was there for it to happen. You know what it is like, what it means to take your life in to your own hands and decide to do something that might be dangerous, but that you have to do. I know the stories of your adventures, I know the things you did, we talk about them all the time. Well this is the beginning of my story, this is the first step on the trail. Yes it is dangerous, and yes I could get hurt but... you saw in there, I have friends who will help me when I do." He smiled at her encouragingly.
"I can't just sit around doing nothing when I could be helping the town. I am going to do this, and I am going to be in danger, but no more so than anyone else, if these Goblins are let go unchecked. I will promise however to be more careful. I have been thinking about that actually and... And it seems wrong to me that Azeri disappears when I fall unconscious, if he hadn't, he could have helped defend me. I think... I think I can figure out a way to stop that from happening though. If I managed to maintain my connection to my power, even while I was unconscious, I believe I can keep Azeri from returning home till either he or I want him to. But... I'll have to work on that..."
"I will be careful. And I will come here, every morning and every night, that I am in town, to check in with you, and tell you what I have been doing. Okay?"
Diplomacy-1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Ali is going to start working on trying to maintain Azeri connection, when he falls unconscious, and in doing so will stumble across some Spells that will help him to strengthen their separate powers. So planned spell progression is...
Level 2- Shield
Level 3- Long Arm
Level 4- Unfetter / Bulls Strength / Protection from C/E/G/L (Communal)

Vandra stops in shocked despair at Maria's words, not quite believing that she would bring that up, especially in these circumstances. 'I-I..how could she?!' he thinks to himself, just staring at her. A sudden rage fills his head as he steps towards her and slaps her in her face.
No, this isn't an overreaction for him, though it might seem that way. By the way, he now no longer likes nor trusts Maria.
"Screw you, Maria!" he yells at her, before turning around and gathering his things. "I thought we were friends, but obviously you care about nothing but yourself."
Jeaux just glares at the girl, not quite willing to attack the child but struggling to keep that thought. Turning her back to her, she goes over to her son and helps him. If the people here were going to try anything against her son, she'd rather they just left.
