"Well they are both Mages and neither of them past 20, so I say the name fits both of them!" Azeri grins, tussling Marias hair. "YOU love to stir the pot don't you you little menace?" Azeri laughs softly, shaking his head, before shaking the mans hand.
Maria the Great
|
Just saying that he's the eldest of them unless you consider a cleric a mage. Not sure I could afford to take care of a horse. She says towards The noble.
Maria the Great
|
Little bit of all three. She's low on money, doesn't like him. And hasn't really ridden before having grown up in the slums of absalom and having stowed away to sandpoint
Maria the Great
|
Seems foolish. He'd have to restrict the others to carrying him or slow their pace.
Maria the Great
|
Maria hesitantly follows along after Furnok.
Vandra Geaux
|
Vandra hurried after the others, stepping next to the noble. "Sir, I just want to apologize once more for the racket I caused earlier. It was just a little mishap with my magic, and it shouldn't happen again."
| Alandrian Verium |
"Hey! that is my line!" Ali laughed softly, stepping up beside the noble on the other side, looking across the man at Vandra. "You learned types are meant to have fine control, right? It is us manifested types that are meant to be the "mishap with magic" types!" He grinned friendly at the young man, before gesturing over his shoulder. "I managed to call Azeri right before I got munched by a wolf, about a year ago now or so. Luckiest damn thing."
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo feels a silly after bad mouthing the noble, without having the full story, exactly what she was chiding Maria about earlier. She hopes he didn't hear it since he seems not a totally bad sort. She'll follow along trying to look small (easier for her) and unnoticed.
| DM TreasureFox |
"My good young man, Vandra. Please don't fret, I simply misunderstood. I have heard many a time of magic users having to make mistakes in order to progress. It would be great for us all if your power increased, isn't that right? It would be very powerful against the goblins, raining fire and ice. Oh my, what a sight that would be. If you don't mind my asking, what encouraged you into the realm of magic?"
As you're walking along, Aldern Foxglove tries to make conversation. "So my new friends, have you been fighting goblins for a long time? Or perhaps another dangerous creature in other lands? Mr. Furnok, I must ask how you came to become such a powerful warrior. Your strength and bravery is to be greatly admired."
Maria the Great
|
Maria grumbles. I grew up in Absalom. didn't like it so I came here for a fresh start. I never had much use for fighting 'fore I came here.
| Helgarr |
Helgarr follows along silently, checking every once in a while to confirm if the goblin is still unconscious.
| Helgarr |
Good :D
I'll have a word with him after we get our new horses ;)
| Helgarr |
Barbarians do that - I like it. Though Helgarr is not a mad raging one :D
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Um... Cleo asks hesitantly as she hurries to keep up with the longer legged barbarian, Why do you have a goblin?
Maria the Great
|
She'll need a cage for it.
| Alandrian Verium |
"They might be evil but they are still intelligent creatures." Ali frowns disapprovingly between Vandra and Maria. "Besides... an earless Goblin won't be a cute pet at all!" He glared back over his shoulder at the little unconscious creature.
Maria the Great
|
Why would you take its ears?
| Cleo Gingerberry |
Earless! Cleo squeaks, remembering the bounty board again. She's knows it's evil and all, but...
| Alandrian Verium |
"For the greatest evil of all, gold, why else?"
Ali laughs before speaking to Cleo. "I wouldn't take the ears of a living creature, I am not that callous. It was just a joke Cleo, I promise!"
Maria the Great
|
I am glad that I do not have to think less of you Ali.
| Alandrian Verium |
"Now a dead creature, that is something completely different. And who can say what will happen between now and when he wakes up, IF he wakes up at all?" Ali shoulders his crossbow and tightens the strap on his pack, before speeding up, taking the lead on the way to the Stables.
"Neither was I Vandra, neither was I..."
Maria the Great
|
Neither was I. Who wants to haul a cage wherever they go. Manacles and chains are much more efficient.
| DM TreasureFox |
So when everyone reaches the stables, Aldern Foxglove enters the place to negotiate payment with Daverin Hosk. It doesn't take too long, but eventually they both walk out and point out various horses and ponies before Aldern pays for the whole deal. With a shake of hands, the two encourage you all to come see the various horses and ponies.
Each character can select either a horse or a pony, and if they choose horse they can pick either a light horse or a heavy horse. They also get all the necessary equipment for their steed (riding saddle), along with a month's stabling at the Goblin Squash Stables, and a week's worth of animal feed. Saddle bags are bought separately.
Maria the Great

Maria walks up and down patting the horses and seeing how they react to her.
Vandra Geaux
|
Vandra thanked the man heartily as he walked around, trying to get a feel for the different horses. As he looked around, he noticed an almost completely black horse with four white socks standing slightly off to the side. It was a lean creature, obviously built for speed rather than power, with a sleek coat and powerful flanks. Vandra shared a look and nodded. "We'll take this one, Mr. Hosk," Vandra said, walking up to the horse and gently petting it's side. "How long do you think it'll take to finish the saddle? I'm a little eager to get to know Qobo Ven here."
Picked out a light horse. Name means Swift Wind in the Dovah language from Skyrim.
| Cleo Gingerberry |
| 2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Cleo hasn't ridden much at all, so picks the calmest pony she can, a gray male with white flecks about his face and neck, like he got messy eating something covered in flour. She can relate.
| DM TreasureFox |
"Shouldn't be too long there, Vandra." says Daverin. "I be thinking you let me know when the two of ya plan on ridin out. I'll modify one of them halfling saddles for Jeaux. May take a day or two I reckon."
He also whispers to Vandra "That there rich bloke just gave me nough money to keep me goin for years. Damn nice of 'im to give y'all horses. What did ya do to convince 'im?"
Maria the Great
|
Maria stops at a chestnut light horse and gently pats it's nose.
| Alandrian Verium |
Ali walked slowly down the line of horses, dithering between a palomino filly and a roan stallion. He lay his palm lightly on the fillies withers, she was about 14 hands he guessed, feeling her dance slightly away from him, and smiling before shaking his head. "You are too beautiful to take in to danger. Were it quieter times I would choose you in an instant!" He gently ran his hand down her flank, patting her slightly, before stepping away.
He moved down along the line to the Stallion and stood there for a second admiring him. At around 18 hands, the Roan was huge. Ali smiled before taking a step forward, making sure to approach him from the side. He ran a hand gently down the beasts flank, before nodding softly to himself. This felt right, it just clicked. The filly would be a perfect match, if he did not expect a couple days of hard work and heavy riding. The Roan was perfect for days on the road, but wouldn't be as fast as the Filly, he knew that.
He moved slowly around to the front of the stallion, before nodding softly, reaching up to place a hand on the horses muzzle. "I'll call you Kiserai."
Azeri stands behind Ali and smiled, patting the boy on the shoulder. "Aye, and I'll take his brother there!" The Bearman nodded towards the next stall across, to a horse almost the exact copy of the Roan. "Kiserai and Ji, Glory and Honor, a perfect pair!"
Ali and Azeri nodded their thanks to the stable owner, smiling as they began to saddle the horses.
Ali and Azeri will both choose Heavy Horses, basically Clydesdales.
Maria the Great

Maria looks over from chestnut stallion she's patting. What's it cost to stable a horse like this? And how much is feed?
| DM TreasureFox |
"Well the feed usually comes out to 5 coppers a day, as for stablin, I charge new people 5 silvers a day. That price includes feed for a day, and I ain't gonna charge y'all that much anyways. 2 silvers a day should be fine, specially y'all doing what ya can to kill off the goblins. Don't be forgetting that Foxglove's already bought ya a month worth of stabling here."
You and Jeaux do not need to pay for stabling or feed in the Goblin Squash Stables. Daverin will look after your steeds for free.
