English is my second language, and I can't tell a male from a female dragon easily ;P My bad.
I wouldn't have known that English was your second language if you hadn't told me.
Heck, maybe dragons don't even have 'gender' in the same sense that most humanoids do. Maybe any dragon can reproduce? Obviously Daeron will need to start some sort of thesis on the topic.
Javell DeLeon |
Yeah I noticed I got no rope. You know, you'd think of all the times I've run into rope issues(and you'd be amazed at how many times I've run into rope issues) that I'd buy rope every stinking time I get the chance.
We've got 50' for 5 people? Yeah, I'm thinkin' the dragon is now the least or our worries.
Rikash |
@Theoden: You should be ok to move outside if you want to draw both. You just wouldn't get the total defense.
- Move action 1 to stand up.
- Standard action 1 to move outside while drawing your weapon as a free action.
- Move action 2 to draw your shield.
- Standard action 2 to do ???.
- Alternatively, you can skip drawing your shield and just go total defense.
Javell DeLeon |
Basically I just want to draw my shield and sword and move to where the Dragon is or wait for him to come to me and that's it.
Why are we going outside? I'm guessing we're going outside to have more room to fight? Or is that where the Dragon is waiting for us?
Or is the Dragon coming at us? Would we know if it is or not?
Sorry, but I'm just trying to get an idea on what's happening exactly.
I guess none of it really matters though if we just roll with my first statement.
In a nutshell, send me towards the Dragon(or wait for him to come to me whichever the case may be) with my sword and shield in hand. And if it takes less than two rounds to do that, then that's no prob. Theoden will just wait. :)
Javell DeLeon |
Is Theoden flying? Here you say:
"And n-now, Theoden, you are free to resume your f-flying."But in OOC right after that you say:
On my next turn, I move up to Theoden (square H5) and cast Fly on him.
So I'm a bit confused. While it sounds like you casted it on him on this turn, it also sounds like you're gonna wait until next turn. It's all good to me either way, I just wanna make sure I'm clear because I'd hate to act on the fact that he's flying when in truth he's not suppose to be until next round. That's just way too much retcon. :p
Daeron Lareththor |
Sorry, to clarify, you can fly this round. I was just trying to distinguish between my readied action and my action this round (#1).
Daeron Lareththor |
Level 8:
- + 1 level wizard (surprise surprise... :P)
- + 1 INT
- + 7 HP

- + 5 languages (Linguistics: Tien, Erutaki, Ignan, Aquan; Int: Orc)
Garand Stone-of-the-Moon |
Level 8
+1 level of Cleric
+1 Wisdom
+8 hit points (took 5, +1 for toughness, +2 for Con)
+1 Fort and +1 Will save (and another +1 Will save from Wis increase)
+1 spell at 3rd and 4th (and +1 spell at 1st from Wis increase)
+5 skill ranks (+1 each Diplomacy, Handle Animal, Perception, Ride, Survival)
New Domain power: Unity – 1/day when a spell or effect (even breath weapon!) affects you and one or more allies within 30 ft., you can allow them to choose to use your save modifier or their own, before they roll (+1 use / day per 4 levels after 8th)
More stuff for stag-spirit, who I forgot to even update into my profile, which still has stats for the late lamented bear-spirit!
Update: Stag spirit is also updated for 8th level (he's now 7 HD, and if he gets to charge something, he's going to murderdeathkill it...).
Hey wizard-boy, don't forget your awesome new 8th level Dimensional Step ability (8th conjurer specialist power)!
Daeron Lareththor |
Thanks for the reminder. Add that to the list:
- + Dimensional Steps (240'/day in 5 ft increments)
- + 1 round for Summoner's Charm (+ 4 rds total for summon X spells)
- + 1 use per day of Shift and increase to 20 ft. per shift.
Javell DeLeon |
Level of Paladin
+1 Charisma
+1 to Perception, Diplomacy, Sense Motive
That's it. Oh, Channel energy went up to 3d6. I think I was the only one to get hit, right?
@Rikash: Okay, I gotta ask. How in the world did you get +15 skill ranks. That's just beastly! I thought only rogues could get something like that many.
Rikash |
My INT went up from 21 to 22 so I got: 2 ranks for a level of wizard + 5 ranks in skills I choose (from my native int mods) + 1 rank in Use Magic Device from my headband + 7 ranks from a retroactive increase in my INT.
So from here on out I'll be getting a much more sane 8 per level (7 of my choice + 1 UMD). :)
Edit: Also, does anyone have any idea how to flavor learning 5 languages basically overnight? :P Right now I'm thinking it would be best if I flavor it as me learning them over the course of the winter as we wait for spring.
Pavel |
Hp is half plus 1?
+1 Strength
+1 base attack
+1 fortitude and reflex
8 skill points: 1 climb, 1 intimidate, 1 linguistics- Tien, 1 knowledge- nature, 1 perception, 1 stealth, 1 survival, 1 swim
Fast tracker
2nd favored terrain
1 2nd level spell slot
My question is what I should take for favored terrain; cold would make sense, but not be useful once we're out of here. Forest might be good, but doesn't make sense narratively. Urban might work, since we spent a lot of time in Kalsgard, but I don't see Pavel as a city guy.

Ah, I see. Well that's just cool. Didn't realize your Intelligence was that awesome. That's cool too.
@Pavel: Man those are tough ones. But out of all those, I'd have to go with city. You may not be a city guy, but it seems to me that's where Pavel's lot in life has placed him so it may be beneficial in that regard. If we're to reclaim a throne, I'd have to say that would take place in a city. That's just an assumption though.
These are the options that are mentioned within the player's guide that I copied and pasted:
For favored terrains, good choices include cold, forest, mountain, and urban.
Just my take on it. DW would obviously have better insight on that.
Edit: Yes, hp's are half+1.

Before the descent, Marak expends one or more uses of channel energy to make sure that everyone is at full health.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist, Set. Marak has made many appearances in differing pbp's. It's quite a classic move of his. I'm finding out he's quite unstoppable. ;)
Edit: And that echo bit is quite clever. That's good stuff. :D
Javell DeLeon |
I totally don't doubt it. :)
Any of you folks have a problem with me taking the +2 longsword or the shortbow?
I'm really easy when it comes to this stuff and if someone else wants either of them, just let me know. It really doesn't matter to me. I know Pavel uses a longsword. Not sure if Maddigan needs/wants the longsword or not.
@Maddigan: What's a Slayer? Is that an archetype of some sort?
Raith Shadar |
A slayer is a new class rogue/ranger hybrid CB is letting me test out in this campaign. So far it is pretty run. The Favored Target is very flexible. Sneak Attack is as hard to use as always. I figure once I can get in an area where I can do some sniping, I can use it.
Go ahead and take the sword. Akulayok uses a kukri. I like the image of him with a weapon that looks like a big hunting knife.
Javell DeLeon |
Okay, here's the list of stuff. Not sure who might want what.
-one lesser dragon slaying arrow,
-a +2 long sword, (Theoden)
-a potion of protection from arrows,
-a ring of feather falling,
-a horse terra-cotta talisman,
-a wand of ray of enfeeblement (15 charges),
-a +1 light steel shield,
-a masterwork cold iron spiked gauntlet,
-a masterwork composite shortbow (+2 Strength) with 11 arrows,(Theoden)
-a masterwork spear,
-a climber’s kit,
-200 feet of silk rope,
-a piece of amber (worth 100 gp),
-three bloodstones (worth 50 gp each),
-a blue sapphire (worth 500 gp),
-a leather quiver decorated with winter wolf fur and tooled with Snowcaster elf designs (worth 500 gp)
If I was divvying this up, I'd probably go with this(with the exception of what Theoden's claimed already):
Dragon slaying arrow - Akulayok
Potion of Prot. Arrows - Garand or Daeron possibly
Ring of feather fall - Any(Possibly Garand. The last thing we need is our resident healer falling to his death.
Horse talisman - Any(Not Theoden though. The phantom steed would be wasted on him. I don't like possessing an item that you can only use partially. It's such a waste.)
Wand of Ray of Enf. - Daeron
+1 shield - Any(Sell possibly)
Mwk spear - Any(Sell possibly)
Mwk gauntlet - Any(Sell possibly)
Climber's kit - Any
Silk rope - Any
Quiver(That's a cool sounding quiver by the way. Makes me wish I was an archer dude) - Akulayok
That's just my take on it. But whatever you folks want to do is fine with me.
Set |
Garand's probably the last person that will be flying at any point (unless his next animal companion is a roc...), so the ring of feather falling would probably be better on whomever Daeron plans on gifting with fly or telekinetic charge (Pavel?).
Garand will just take cash, and save it up to buy stuff useful for his class/role.
Javell DeLeon |
Arrow is good.
That Talisman is right up Théoden's alley.
You know, initially I didn't think so. But after re-reading it, that fact that it's in the image of an armored horse does sound pretty cool. Which totally sounds like him.
Pavel? You strike me as one who could possibly use it. And Akulayok for that matter. But if neither of you warrior types want it then I'll snag it. Like I said, I'm good with whatever.
Daeron Lareththor |
I'm not too interested in anything aside from the wand. I'll take that and give it to Manulani for some possible Strength damage. I'll take more gold if we can get it. If we can manage 5500 gold for me somehow I can upgrade my headband of vast intellect. Otherwise, I'll probably save gold or maybe try to upgrade my cloak of resistance. Buying some spells is also a good thing.
It seems like the ring should go to whoever is going to want Fly the most. My guess is that will probably be Theoden as Pavel is a decent ranged combatant in a pinch. I don't need it as I can prepare feather fall if it seems like I'm going to be flying a significant amount.
I've no preference about what we do with the talisman. That's for you martials to hash out. :)
Javell DeLeon |
Four attacks rocks. Man I love me some two-weapon fighting. Alright then, I'll snag the talisman.
I think I'd recommend Pavel for the Ring. Because it's turning out Theoden is getting too much stuff and I'm starting to feel guilty.
If Pavel or Akulayok absolutely don't want the ring, then I'll take it. But I'll have to forgo on future items found until there's some form of "evening out" amongst us. 'Cause this is just way too much. Not really use to this to be honest. It always seems to even out a bit better typically.
Daeron Lareththor |
Welcome back, DW! Hopefully your vacation was restful
Wanted to ask, do we have access to any other raw materials (gold)? I could use this time to make some magical gear if we have more gold handy. I'll work something up a bit later depending.
