Male Dwarf Warden/16

Barel knows Raya is hurting and decides to step in to attract more of its attention. Although he can't see Moghadam, Barel steps towards his last known location and swings widely at the shade.

Move action: to K7.
Free action: mark Moghadam (-3 penalty to attacks not including me), lasts UEMNT).
Standard action: rough strike (encounter)-- (15)+ 21 -5 = 31 VS FORT
On hit: (8,5)+19+9+6=47 damage and he is slowed UEMNT.

Hits with the CA from domination.

Barel's sense of chivalry is enough to drive him into the shadow and land a substantial blow on the wraith. So potent is the attack, that Moghadam's movement slows.

"I am concerned with other matters. You must wait your turn," he comments reprovingly.

MAP

Moghadam's Dread Aura 2
While Moghadam is unbloodied, enemies starting their turns within the aura take 2d10 psychic and are dazed to start their next turn.

Black square is an untriggered pit trap.
Perception 24 to notice if adjacent
Thievery 24 to disable and allow character to pass without falling.

Lanthair - +3 saves and +5 damage to end Arishat's next turn; blinded in zone
Moghadam - two shrouds; DCed by Raya; weakened to end Lanthair's next turn; dominated to end Thom's next turn; marked by Barel; slowed to end Barel's next turn
Lynore (Shadow Assassin blinded in zone and needs to take 2d10) - blinded in zone
Thom
Arishat
Raya - in aura (see above); blinded in zone
Barel - melee reach 2; really in aura (see above); blinded in zone

Male Halfling Monk 18 / Ghostwalker

Lanthair jumps over the pit trap and launches a kick at the wraith.

Crane's Wings movement technique. Jump to H7 (can't miss the check). Crane's Wings 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 vs fort. 1d10 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 damage on a hit.

Lanthair hops over the pit trap and hacks feebly at Moghadam's shins.

The wraith's attention is only for Lureene.

"Well, well now. What shall we do?"

Dominated, so can only take one action as directed by Thom. At will powers as follows:
Blade of Vengeance (Ref) (one creature). On hit target takes 10 ongoing psychic (se)
Blade Storm (Ref) - as Blade of Vengeance but makes up to four attacks, only two of which may be against the same creature and does 1d10 extra against a blinded target.
Darkness (Zone, close burst 5 v Ref). Zone lasts to end Moghadam's next turn and enemies within zone are blinded.

Heh...so what do you do if there are no other enemies to attack...oh well.

Rev, could Thom have Lureene tell Moghadan to end one (or both) of his Auras?

He can't end his Dread aura and the darkness zone will end at the end of his turn anyway. I do agree it's a bit of problem when there's just him, but see what you can come up with - I'm as open to suggestions as Moghadam. He's got a move of 8 by the way (flying with hover). I forgot to post that in the original list of stuff he can do.

Female Tiefling Warlord/Infernal Strategist 18

Since dominated allows a single action, move and provoke some OAs. Yeah, that's horrible metagaming.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

I tried to do that last battle, I wouldn't say its too much meta >.>

Good plan...I think moving to I9-J10 should provoke a few OAs, right? Make it so, Lureene!

Male Dwarf Warden/16

Run Forest Run! That way he grants CA too.

Male Halfling Monk 18 / Ghostwalker

Can you make him trigger the trap?

Hmmm...I think he is incorporeal, so there is no way he could trigger the pit trap?

Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3

plus he is flying, so not sure he could fall in on either

He will not trigger a pit trap since he hovers over it.

Mogahdam floats beneath the hole in the ceiling, ignoring the rain of blows that follows in his wake.

"I've always had a fondness for devils," he murmurs, possibly hoping to sound seductive.

One unfortunate side effect is that Thom, Lynore and Lureene and now affected by his aura.

MAP

Moghadam's Dread Aura 2

Black square is an untriggered pit trap.
Perception 24 to notice if adjacent

Lynore (in aura, 2d10 damage)
Thom - (in aura, 2d10 damage)
Arishat
Raya - in aura (see above)
Barel - melee reach 2; in aura (see above)
Lanthair - +3 saves and +5 damage to end Arishat's next turn
Moghadam - two shrouds; DCed by Raya; weakened to end Lanthair's next turn; dominated to end Thom's next turn; marked by Barel; slowed to end Barel's next turn

Male Dwarf Warden/16

RevDM:
I thought they were all 40 ft up still...did Moghadam float up too, or does his aura go up that high? Also, remember that he is slowed and cannot go but so far, even if he runs?!

Barel:
He did float up, but I'd forgotten about the slow. Auras (like all area effects) are a cube.

Whoops. Forgot to say that Barel, Shadow Lynore, Raya and Lanthair all get OAs on Moggie as he flies up. To get there at all he will have had to run, so attacks are at +5.

Male Halfling Monk 18 / Ghostwalker

1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31 vs AC. 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 damage.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

but the darkness lasts till the end of his turn, so we're at a wash for modifiers, yes?

Valiant Strike

1d20 + 22 ⇒ (8) + 22 = 30 for 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Lanthair and Raya both miss as the wraith flies optimistically past them.

Yup. They cancel out.

Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3

Oa 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24 vs ac, 1d8 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 5 = 16
2d10 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 damage from aura
free action Shroud 1 and 2 on wraith
Shadow Step to F12
I only get one action because of dazed correct?

Lynore slashes at the wraith and fades into the shadows to reappear near the succubus.

Male Dwarf Warden/16

Barel whacks at the sounds of Moghadam as he swishes by.

melee basic attack: (18)+ 21= 39 for (9)+13+3= 25 damage

And he is quite happy to be able to see again when the effect ends!

Male Dwarf Warden/16
Rev DM wrote:

...OAs on Moggie as he flies up.

"Moggie" is what the grandkids call my Mom...so this statement brought a very different picture to mind than you intended. Cringingly funny!

Lynore's shadow self is no more fortunate that Lanthair or Raya, but Barel restores the balance with a mighty whack.

And a horrifying visual :D

Moghadam continues to look languishingly at Lureene as Lynore slides more shadowy nooses around him and slips past.

Lynore - You can't get to F12 as you can't see it. You're still in the tunnel and the most line of sight I can sensibly allow is up to Column 10.

MAP

Arishat

Barel - melee reach 2; in aura (see above)
Lanthair - +3 saves and +5 damage to end Arishat's next turn
Moghadam - two shrouds; DCed by Raya; weakened to end Lanthair's next turn; dominated to end Thom's next turn; marked by Barel; slowed to end Barel's next turn; 2 shrouds
Lynore (possibly in aura, 2d10 damage)

Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3

Oops, kept thinking it was a walkway in my head, G10 would be just fine

Map amended.

As Lynore lands next to the floating succubus, she spots another untriggered trap just behind her.

Thom is up.

Damage Lureene 2d10 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 not sure how many hp she has left...
Damage Thom 2d10 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9

Thom shrugs off the effects of the aura. Gotta be heroic here... and sends a bolt of force at the wraith. He then gives Lureene a wink and with a wave of his hand dismisses her.

Thanks Honey, that helped a LOT, he he.

Standard Action: Entangling Force
Attack: Intelligence 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31 vs. Reflex
Hit: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) + 6 = 15 force damage.
Until EOMNT, the target is slowed and can't teleport, and it provokes opportunity attacks when it shifts.
Wand of Accuracy: On a miss, you deal force damage to the target equal to your Intelligence modifier (+6).
IF A MISS: Refined Recall
Trigger: You miss every target when using an arcane encounter attack power.
Effect: The attack power is not expended.
Minor action: Dismiss Lureene.

Thom's heroism has its effect. Taking advantage of Moghadam's lustful glances at Lureene, he drops a net of force over the besotted wraith before dismissing Lureene. The succubus snorts delicately as she vanishes, casting a languishing look of her own in Moghadam's direction.

Hits with the CA granted by domination.

As Lureene vanishes, Moghadam's expression changes and his voice rises to a demented wail.

"Another betrayal!!! How I am thwarted at every turn. You shall all perish now and I will show no mercy. No future life for any of you. Except the tiefling, perhaps. I have taken a liking to her."

"If only you could see the one prolonging your anguish, is you..." Raya says grimly.

Also, Moghadam is marked by Barel currently, not I.

Thanks. I'll sort it out when I do the next update :)

Arishat is up.

Female Tiefling Warlord/Infernal Strategist 18

"It's nice to be popular." Arishat's tone is quite dry, as she launches her javelin one more time towards Moghadan and then slips it away in favour of her trusty spear.

Basic Ranged Attack, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 vs AC, 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 damage
Minor to ready her spear and to put her javelin to safety.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

Delay till after Moghadam. He's well out of reach for the moment.

Male Dwarf Warden/16

how high up is Moggie now? 40 FT?

Moghadam is twenty feet up.

Arishat's javelin echoes her lack of appreciation of Moghadam's attentions. Raya grits her teeth and waits to see where the wraith goes next.

Okay I am confused,if the landing up there is 40 ft, how he can he be 20 ft up , since he's on 3/4 squares of the landing?

He flies and can hover.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

But he's 3/4 in the zone of the pillar right? or is there not a column beneath the catwalk we approached upon? I'm just curious from a mechanical standpoint.

The light brown thing isn't a zone. It's a hole in the ceiling. This is one of those times when an isometric map would really help, but I'm not capable of making one.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

Ahhh! I knew I was missing something! Much obliged, Rev.

You're welcome :)

Barel's up.

Male Dwarf Warden/16

If Moghadam is 20 feet up, does that mean he is in the fourth square, or the 5th square up? In either case, I don't think Barel is in the aura anymore. If he is in the 4th square, then Barel can reach him with his Thorn Strike attack (melee reach 3), and pull him back down by 5 feet. If he is in the 5th square, then he his out of my reach, and Barel will just huck his hammer at him and hope for the best. (4)+ 21 = 25 vs Fort, so it is a miss in either case.

Barel looks up at the Flying creature and swings his hammer at it fruitlessly...along with a string of curses that would make a longshoreman blush.

RevDM: please confirm whether Barel is in the aura (and hurt and dazed) or not.

Fourth square and Barel isn't in the aura. Rest of update to follow.

Male Halfling Monk 18 / Ghostwalker

Lanthair takes the opportunity to reposition himself and recover his bearings.

Move to N8. Second Wind.

Barel takes a futile swipe at the newly betrayed wraith and Lanthair applies some swift first aid out of the immediate field of battle. Moving swiftly across the room, he grinds to a halt as his senses warn him of another trapped area.

Moghadam moves sedately downwards, his eyes glowing horribly, and turns his vile attentions to Barel and Raya. The blackened greatsword whines through the air, seeming almost to speak.

He is now one square up and in melee range

Blade Storm (Ref). On hit target takes 10 ongoing psychic. Makes four attacks, only two of which may be against the same target.
Raya first:
1d20+24=44 v Raya. Crit. 20 damage and 10 ongoing psychic (se)
1d20+24=28 v Raya. Hits. 2d10=11
31 damage to Raya and 10 ongoing psychic (se)
Now Barel:
1d20+24=36 v Barel. Hits. 2d10=11 and 10 ongoing psychic
1d20+24=30 v Barel. Hits. 2d10=12
23 damage to Barel and 10 ongoing psychic (se)

Lynore - in aura, 2d10 damage (so is Shadow Lynore)
Thom
Arishat
Barel - melee reach 2; in aura, 2d10 damage; 10 ongoing psychic (se)
Lanthair - +2 all defenses to start next turn (used second wind); +3 saves and +5 damage to end Arishat's next turn
Moghadam - two shrouds; DCed by Raya; slowed and can't teleport to end Thom's next turn; provokes OAs when shifting to end Thom's next turn

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

Raya steels herself against the attack, though painful and bloody it may be.

Immediate Action: Reactive Surge

As unbecoming as it may be, she lies right to the wraith's face. "....didn't hurt."

Raya is bloodied, barely.

Again the aura works against her

2d10 ⇒ (2, 7) = 9 aura damage
save vs daze 1d20 ⇒ 17

Throwing off the daze again...
all allies within 5 gain +6 to their saves

Move: Shift to H7, assuming I'm not standing on the Rancor trap...

"I..have had enough of this!" She cries out, sweeping her blade in a long, smooth stroke, setting off a small, white explosion.
Castigating Strike
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42
damage is 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 7, 7) + 9 = 27

It pains her to see a creature in such torment, tears flow as she readies herself for another assault.

Action Point Tears of Evergold! Moghadam takes damage equal to the highest vulnerability he has, thusly 10 Radiant damage. If there's any hidden enemies within 10, they also take their weakness in damage of that same type.

Blood mats her hair as she swings again, her blade becoming pure radiance, as she exploits the wraith's weakness!

Virtuous Strike

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44 Ka-Rit!
17 dmg + 14 from Arishat + 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5) = 14 radiant damage
effect: +2 to my saves USOMNT and I can spend a Healing Surge, which I do.

45 radiant damage (55 after weakness) from valiant strike
27 from Castigating Strike, which slaps on Divine Sanction, overriding Barel, (no choice in the matter, dwarf bud.)
20 from Tears of Evergold.

Total damage. 92! and Raya is up to 80 HP.

save vs ongoing 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Heck yeah, My best darn round ever, even beating out slapping Arishat earlier.

WOW...Thom thinks, I think I am in love...he he.

Silver Crusade

Female Human 18 Paladin/Heartwarder

My bad, that's 102 total counting the radiant vulnerability to valiant strike. Hoo Rah

Moghadam blazes with unwanted light as Raya brutally cuts through his defences. He screams horribly, his voice burning into his enemeies as darkness coils out of his mouth obliterating the area.

The greatsword flares angrily and Moghadam's own aura falls away. Arishat alone sees the wraith bleeding form before her mind is viciously assaulted with the kind of images she thought she had safely locked away. It is little comfort to realise her companions are suffering in the same way.

Immediate reaction to being bloodied.
