As soon as everyone has posted something in the gameplay thread, this show is hitting the road!

DM Rickmeister |

No problem Bayani.
Remember the PFS rules about char creation, and you can't go wrong!
Edit: Please POST something instead of just "dotting" :P

DM Rickmeister |

Go with your guts, you were first so you would have set the mood :D
As far as I can tell from Darius' comment, I would say you're in the common room of your 'house" at the Lodge. You've been assigned a room in one of the houses, a place to leave the gear you would like to leave locked up, and sleep.
It's early in the morning, say about 8'ish. You are expected at 10, so have roughly two hours to get things in order.

DM Rickmeister |

T minus 10 hours before I start looking for people to take Kumari Azar's place.

Hey I have a question about my build - I've decied to hold off on Weapon Finesse and pick that up at level 2 with the Finesse Rogue talent - this means that my + to hit is low right now and I won't likely do any Two-Weapon fighting yet.
It maximizes my feat selection long-term, but makes me less effective short term. Thoughts?

![]() |

That's the same way I went with my halfling rogue. I think it makes sense. As you said your accuracy drops but you can still make use of TWF vs things with lower AC and when you have a flank.
What are you thinking of taking as your second feat?

![]() |

Right now I have Dodge, since AC will be an issue when I'm up close. Kind of going back and forth between that and Toughness - but there could be something better out there. I've only really explored Core feats - thought maybe about Gang Up from APG, which makes flanking easier if there are three allies facing a single foe.

DM Rickmeister |

My thoughts exactly. Take finesse and swap it right before leveling up to level 2 :)

Done and done.
So another question - I bought my character a silvered mace (I always try to keep cold iron and silver on hand) - I am assuming this works for DR purposes, but are any creatures that need silver to hurt that are resistant against bludgeoning damage (i.e. devils and lycanthropes)?
Also, if I were to purchase a masterwork cold iron weapon in the future, how much would it cost - double the base cost plus 300, or base + 300 then double. Thanks!

If they do have dual requirements, they're pretty high CR, so we probably won't be encountering them in this scenario.
DM, I can't recall -- do PFSOP rules allow the players to pool coins for purchases related to the mission? E.g. if we went in together to buy the rangers some silver and cold iron arrows, would that be allowed?

DM Rickmeister |

Yeah, everything is individual I'm afraid. Nothing can be pooled, and if you use your resources on something it s still considered yours at the end of the adventure, can't even 'willingly gift' something to someone.

DM Rickmeister |

Be sure to do your shopping before leaving Absalom!
Horatius: I will attempt to mail your LEWT within 10 hours.

DM Rickmeister |

Check the other discussion forum. For you I need the following still:
> Start gp, day job, items sold, items bought.
Oh, and it should be about 502 gp that you'll get, so start thinking ;)

DM Rickmeister |

@ Hannover:
I am unsure, and can't find the answer, so i'm going to suggest this:
Weapon Blanch (silver), which would cost 5 gold pieces for 10 pieces of ammunition.
If anyone finds the correct page, I'm willing to work out something different.
Not listed here unfortunately. :(

Humm...well the Core book lists it as +2gp and the UE lists it as +2gp/item. Looking at the entry for Adamantine the Core book lists it as +60gp/missle while the UE lists it as +60gp/item.
Based on that my thought would be that it's +2gp/arrow.
Of course that seems to make Weapon Blanch a lot more affordable option. At first I was thinking that it was because you can recover silver arrows and use them again but since you can only recover arrows that don't hit and weapon blanch is only used on a hit it's irrelevant as far as that goes.

![]() |

Bayani will also purchase a unit of Silver weapon blanch to use with arrows. (It's just not practical with melee weapons.)
Edit: nevermind, forgot I chose not to go with the bow.

![]() |

It's new in Ultimate Equipment. Only works for the first hit, but definitely helps. The rules say a 'blade' so I think maybe they don't actually work for ammo. Might be a little too powerful if you can sharpen all the arrows.
*pumps fist in the air* Sharpen ALL THE THINGS!

![]() |

Theor, what close-range weapon do you have? You have a bec de corbin listed (great weapon) and then unarmed strike, but you don't have Improved Unarmed strike as a feat, so using an unarmed attack, even with a gauntlet, will provoke, and you won't be able to take AoOs. Maybe get a spiked gauntlet, or spiked armor?

DM Rickmeister |

I believe it's only for blades. So yes for short sword, greatsword.. And even rapier, I reckon. But not for ammunition.

![]() |

Well, if someone gets past your reach, which is easy to do with 5-foot steps, vanish, acrobatics, etc. then you have no way to take AoOs, which makes your Combat Reflexes feat much less useful.

![]() |

Yeah I agree, but from an ooc perspective I wouldn't except a lot of the foes at first level to be using a lot of vanish/acrobatics. Only so much money you know. I plan on getting a close range weapon as well, once he's gotten a little more experience under his belt. As it is he is pretty much just a kid getting his feet wet. He has some natural talent and some skills just from his own experience but no formal training and the weapon is just bec de corbin is just a common weapon in the Brevoy/River Kingdom area and he found it useful having something with a little reach to check ground and such while exploring the tunnels.

DM Rickmeister |

Yup, working on it. Have to force some of my students to pass this year, but eta of next post should be within 8-10 hours. :-)

DM Rickmeister |

Just a little heads-up:
My girlfriend booked a last-minute to Spain, so I will be out of the country from sunday to thursday. I will ofc attempt to check in regularly, but should the need arise you may.. well, wait for me, coz I'm the DM xP
If everything is taken care of as I believe it will be, I should be able to at least post once a day :)
