Molos pulled out sheets of paper from his bag along with a few inkwells and quills. Pass me the contracts and I will transcribe their contents onto the paper, if our new found "employer" decides to stab us in the back then we will take him with us...

I will be sending the "Many Plots of Molos" to you, GM soon. As for the apprentice she has been redirected into studying the "social" arts as part of her training as an enchantress until Molos regains his memories (she doesn't know about the last part).

Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)

i have already prepared it for you. here is your copy Molos. she hands him a parchment.

As to your answer adrien the contract if rather simple in its basic nature: Its an exchange of service. House leroung provides bargaining chips: like information, souls etc.. in exchange they get information that are arcane in nature. These information or secrets can lead them to new arcane discoveries, new spells, powerful magic items etc..

DM i will be sending my actions over the 2 days during this weekend

"So then are we to believe that destroying the contract breaks the agreement between Leroung and the other party?"

Between them and the forces of Hell. Yes adrien

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

"The contracts are irrelevant to us. As a bargaining tool they're double-edged at best, and we gain no real advantage from destroying them. Best bet is to sell them. As discretely as possible. Also: I don't want to be involved in that. What we should focus on is-"

killing Alana Thrune

"-killing Alana Thrune.'

Ok. Well. Not what I was going to say, but hey, who am I to say what I am going to say? Hah... Damn. Well, it technically is on my to do list. And maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. Maybe even three or four... I grin savagely, daydreaming of blood.

Sydney:

Alana, the elf, and six other agents of Thrune are gathered in the room. The elf is standing in front of the agents, who are cloaked with their hoods up. Sydney knows the identity of just one of the other agents present, and she is sure that is intentional. She gives up studying the heights of the others as Duranu speaks, "Gentlemen and ladies, I'm sure you realized that being here means you have done well in our" the elf gives Alana a quick glance "service. Tonight's work is the most important yet. With their armies on the battlefield, Egorian is ripe for the taking. Tonight, each of you will be discussing contract changes with the presiding devil. Though you have different instructions, you have the same leverage; we have an army, right here, and they do not. Simple math, and I think the devil's will agree. Now, for your instructions" The elf and Alana start at either end of the line of agents, and through the uses of message spells, give instructions to each agent in turn. Sydney is the first to be given instructions from the elf.
"Sydney, you have several tasks tonight. The first is House Sarini. In the center of their manor house is a statue or a harp, hand lyre, and flute. Play Sarini's Grace on the flute and the harp will rotate to reveal a staircase down. The staircase leads straight to Sarini's contract and the presiding devil will present himself. Tell him you have a waiting army, not a lie, and convince him that he needs to change the contract to your demands. Your demands are that Sarini, and their contract, must be subject to Thrune. House Sarini will become the fools and Jesters of our court. Report back here when you finish up, your next task will depend on the actions of the others."

Mall:

Mall stands in front of Captain Rusk's desk, having already refused the chance to seat himself. It is the afternoon after the contract raid, and Mall really has no idea why he is in front of the Captain. "Corporal Mallichatti, I believe you know Specialist Lugen was hung for treason recently?" Mall tenses but nods. "You probably knew he was a specialist for several of are darker responsibilities, but he was also our contract specialist. He ran a team that took care of any disturbances related to contracts; very delicate work. I was going to train a younger recruit into this roll, but we already have a matter to look into. Despite your temperament, I believe your field knowledge would make you the best candidate for the job at presence. So, what do you say to Specialist Cervagio?"

Vince:

"That #$*2--- bastard, he never meant for this to me to complete this task." Vince kicks a table over. The water skins spills, just missing getting water onto Molos, who remains seated. "How did our intelligence not pick up that Tuscalo's company was leaving the city last night? How did no one see them?" Vince's questions are near screams in Molos' face but the tiefling remains impassive.

"You failed a job you shouldn't have taken; but there is no need to be this upset."

Vince explodes, "[bigger]No need? I might... wait." Vince's anger seems to melt away. "What did Lugen say about me? What did he tell you for the first job?"

"That you were strangely loyal once you agreed."

Vince frowns. "I am, uh, compelled to complete any promise I make. I try to avoid making promises. Lugen forced me to take this job though."

"And if you don't make the promise?"

"I explode over everyone who has ever mind raped me." Vince's sneers turns into a vomit. Molos does move out of the way this time. Vince curses through the nausea. "Is it wealday already?"

Molos shakes his head. "We're nearing the day turn now" Vince curses and vomits again. Molos carefully steps around the mess, and walks out.

"If you're going out, can you grab me a nurse? Preferably a sexy one." The requests elicits now response from Molos, just a shutting of the door behind him. Vince moves over to the window, so he can watch the moon move closer to the peak of his sickness.

A while after what Vince had figured to be midnight, the nausea, which should keep getting worse, lets up. An even longer while later, Molos enters the house again. "Your promise has been... released." He turns to go. At the door he stops. "Make sure you clean this mess"

~~~~~
On the 25th day of Calistril, Vince was summoned to a Taishan meeting. He remembered entering the meeting and seeing Molos and Sydney. Vince does not remember anything more of the meeting. In fact, Vince cannot remember anything after entering the door to the meeting.
GM:
Mallichatti nods slowly. "I was there when he was hanged. I don't suppose you can tell me what he was involved in that got him caught? It's a trap I'd like to avoid in his position sir."
Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
And for what reasons Vince? she asks nicely
Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
"Because we are good, morally upright members of the cosmos, and we always keep our word," I smile.
"Also probably because Dice can with relative ease set the entirety of Leroung, and possibly all of Egorian, against us, since he knows exactly who we are and that we're after contracts. So it seems like it would behoove us to do what he requests. In a timely fashion."
Behoove. That's an awesome word.
Behoove.
Haha.
Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
and what do you know of alana Thrune?
Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
I think about this long and hard, my brow furrowed. Finally, after much pondering, I answer.
"Her name," I nod affirmatively, gazing at Sydney with utmost sincerity.
"It's Alana Thrune, by the way."
Mallichatti smacks the smart ass in the back of the head. "Get serious here! Even the halfling mentioned that we needed our memories to do the job he wanted us to do! And not one of us is any closer to that goal!"
Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
"Except for, y'know, me," I reply smugly. Or at least as smugly as one can with watering eyes and a knot on the back of their head. Man that guy is strong.
"It is odd though. I was told to go after Jeggare. But my memories were in Leroung's devil..." I muse, absent mindedly rubbing the back of my head.
"I suppose you have a point though. It looks like we might have to multitask," I sigh. I hate multitasking. Reduces my ability to focus. And if I can't focus, I usually just end up flailing.
"I'd prefer to look into Alana myself. So what Houses do you all want to tackle?"
Adrien, are you going to ask anyone to go with your to the magic shop?
The magic shop:
The main, permanent magic items sho lies on the eastern side of House Charthaginion. The manor House of Charthagnion is surrounded by an open area fifty feet at it's longest. The eastern side of Charthagnion is also a border between one of the nicer parts of town and one of the not as nice areas. The line between the two is readily apparent, as the edge of Charthagnion's cleaning sweep runs right along the edge of a road. The road is swept clean, but the building sides that rub against it are dusty, dirty and quite decrepit. The magic shop is the about twenty feet of that barrier road, to the Charthaginion side, and it gleams cleanly in the sunlight or moonlight.
The vibrant magic shop catches the eye but even more apparent to Adrien is the form of Rantin, watering plants outside a shop on the dusty side of Twice Swept Way. The sign above the door reads the Herb Garden and Alchemy Emporium.
Not this first time, I'll use this as reconisence. But I'll report to anybody interested after.
DM:
Adrien notices Rantin about his shop, and decides to approach him, inquiring about his wares. "Rantin, lets take a look at your shop.
Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
"And where might that be Sydney?"
male tiefling
Hopefully this "complex" will yield our memories...
Adrien:
Rantin shows you into the shop and points out the potions to you (not the prices in the note below). "Alaran's shop? He's some high ranking noble for House Charhagnion but all he does is work in that magic shop all day. He's a little eccentric, and very stringent. Based on his work I would say he must be pretty powerful. "
Would you like to do anything else or is it magic shop time?
You can purchase potions at 20% off and alchemical ingredients at 10% off from Rantin's Herbal shop. You can also work there as a profession.
GM:
I'll offer him my help from time to time, letting him know that it might be part time. But now yes, magic shop time :)
Adrien:
Rantin seems to want to say something and then nods instead.
The magic shop is as despicably clean inside as it is outside. There are no visible shelves inside but quite a few products are showcased on what appears to be air. You can piece together that is is held up by magic easily enough. In fact, as soon as you realize that fact, a lot more revelations like it fall into place. The shop is filled with what must be magical fields, supports, and placements. It's hard to tell if it's a show of power or a show of obsession. Shortly after you enter, an elf appears through the curtain leading to a back room. The curtain, like his garb, is styled in the red and black of House Charthagion. You recognize that easily enough after just walking the city since you woke up.
The elf smiles like a salesman, not someone who is pleased to see you. "You seem in need of help." His tone just borders on appropriate.
GM:
Adrien smiles at the elf. "Indeed, friend. Now that I've had time to enjoy this amazing display, I've almost forgotten why I came in." Adrien keeps his tone below condescending as he offers the elf a warm handshake. He explains his search for the efficient quiver, then offers a quick switch of topic. "I find myself plagued by a neusence of a tiefling who's soul obsession seems to be controlling people's thoughts and mind. If you have anything to combat this I would be gracious." Adrien finishes his sentence as he bumps into a floating item. He turns to the piece with an act of awe. "How do you manage this? Are these wards keeping your items in place? in the middle of house Sarini's compound, but i don't know anything about its security. My best would probably be able to figure out a way to get past the outer guards if Molos can memorize a bunch of invisibility spells. If my initial theory is correct the contract devil will yield only one memory.
male tiefling
That has probably already been thought of and accordingly precautions will have been taken, to deal with the guards we need to take a different approach. If these noble houses are as paranoid as they seem that means that inevitably they must have secret passages and entrances in the complex proper... If we could find one of these passages or entrances and disarm the defenses we should be able to get at the contract devil.
Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
Molos this is the only secret entrance. she says with a smile
So do you need to adjust in order to have everyone's invisible?
male tiefling
The only "secret entrance" I doubt it, furthermore I can't keep you all invisible to get in. What is known of House Sarini, it's history, politics and most important of all enemies.
Molos and Sydney, from your readings and research since waking up you would know that Sarini is an almost inconsequential player in Cheliaxian politics. They are a lapdog to Thrune and little about the public knowledge available for them would dissuade you from that idea.
Vince, you can make a knowledges local, nobility or history to learn some relevant information.
Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
You can doubt all you want. i didn't see you coming up with anything in the last two days now have you, and you are telling me you can memorize 5 invisibility spell? she says with a wink
Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
Nope. No ranks I lied I have ranks.
Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Per usual, Molos is instigating arguments, but at least we have a lead. Hopefully we can recuperate for a bit more while I try and get some more errands done. I mentally review my to-do list.
  • KILL ALANA THRUNE
    I wince as my own mind screams at me and crack my neck, feeling my shoulder muscles bunch up and tighten. Ugh. Stupid promises...
  • Visit Henderthane
  • Get mind protecting equipment
  • Gunpowder plot
  • Item hidden for security purposes. DNT.
    I'm not sure if I'm giving a devilish grin or not, but it definitely feels like I am. Hopefully I can kill like three birds with one stone. It'll take some finagling though... but hopefully I've got some time. And so far things are set up quite nicely.
    "I think we should probably try and get the locations of the rest of the devils before we strike again. If we keep doing them one by one with a break in between security's gonna get tighter and tighter. It'd be safest to try and get them all in one go after this. We're unlikely to find somebody like Dice to cover for us again."
  • male tiefling
    That is exactly what I am saying and it would be resources wasted, an alternative is available however... If they are still in business, as a child I was raised by the criminal underworld and I distinctly remember the alchemists who would operate out of back alleys and the like. They could if one had the coin give one several services, one of these services was what at least back then was called a "new man". Pay an alchemist enough and either give them a sketch of or even better a part of the target and they could make you the target for several hours. It will take a man who can lie through his teeth to pull off the impersonation but I trust that Adrien can perform the deed...
    Male Elvish Dhampir, 53/53HP, +4 Init, +3 BAB, +3 CMB, +17 CMD, F +3, R +10, W +4 (+6 vs mind effects), AC 21, Touch 15, FF 17, 4d6 Sneak Attack, Prestidigitation 3/3, Mage Armor 2/2, Poison Use, Death Attack Rogue(Sniper) 5, Assassin 1
    Adrien looks sideways at Molos for a mere moment before considering the task. Murder an unnamed victim, steal their body, flesh train it into the houses to gather information on the devils. What a despicably well thought out idea. Maybe Molos was more useful than harmful. Adrien suddenly scoffed loudly at his thought, then laughed at the sheer balls it would take to accomplish this. Dismantling the houses piece by piece was deserved. Fun even. But Molos was suggesting slapping the nobles in their faces before their sudden beheading. A government toppled by blatant dickery. This was unheard of. And it was going to be so much fun. Adrien smiled through his ale. "Oh yes, I'll enjoy this."
    Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
    Bad idea and bad plan molos, but i won't stop you from trying. And to answer your unspoken question Vince, we don't have the magical ressources to hit all the contract devil on the same day, and No the security will not be tighter and tighter on them because of one simple fact. The news that their contract is missing is now one of the most guarded secret in house Leroung, and they aren't telling anyone else.
    Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
    "Closely guarded secret or not, we've already heard the rumors about something happening at Leroung. I find it difficult to believe that the scheming paranoid people who have managed to become heads of Houses won't take some measure of precaution. And if nothing else, the devils themselves know, and for the right price will divulge the information. We might not have all the resources desired for one clean sweep, but we are even further away from having the resources needed to run for the rest of our lives."
    Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
    Of course there are precaution, traps, guards and stuff protecting the contract devil of each house Vince. So you have heard the rumors about something happening during the ball. Do you know exactly was these rumor allude to or was was said during the crisis meeting?
    Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12
    "None of the rabble know anything definitive, but everybody knows that something happened. Something that shook the high-ups in Leroung. Also: what 'crisis meeting'?"
    Hp 27/27 AC 17 / 17 / 10 (+3 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +4)
    The one that happened during the ball of course Vince. In fact i can tell you that Dice Drem did his job to perfection and Leroung aren't on our ass. Now my only question to you all: Do you want to attempt the contract devil located in House sarini or not? and if yes We need to infiltrate the outer defense unseen until we get to the entrance of the secret complex.
    Vince, you wouldn't know much about Sarini beyond what was mentioned already.
    Adrien:
    The elf smiles at the comment. "I have spent years perfecting spells for just that very purpose. Almost all of these are my own spell, or were modified by me to make it fit my needs. I like to experiment. As for your search, the elf gestures and a cloak flies off the wall and lands in his hand, the easiest way is a Cloak of Resistance like this. It is only 1,000 for the least powerful of them, though if you have more coin to spend we can do better. You could also try something like this headband. (Headband of Inspired Wisdom). It will increase your mental capacity."
    Male Elvish Dhampir, 53/53HP, +4 Init, +3 BAB, +3 CMB, +17 CMD, F +3, R +10, W +4 (+6 vs mind effects), AC 21, Touch 15, FF 17, 4d6 Sneak Attack, Prestidigitation 3/3, Mage Armor 2/2, Poison Use, Death Attack Rogue(Sniper) 5, Assassin 1
    GM:
    Adrien looks at the cloak and head band then gives a thoughtful look to the elf. "Unfortunately my purse is rather low at the moment."6k after dusts and quiver"But it seems rather pertinent to attain both of these. I'll pay you 6,000 gold for the headband and a cloak one step above this. In exchange for the difference I offer a single use of my services. That being, I can make certain problems disappear."
    Take 10 on Diplomacy for another 20.
    Adrien:
    I'll play out the other purchases first.
    You tell the shop keeper that you'll think about it, and you have a few other definite purchases to make. The effiient quiver he has in stock, Narikopolites love them, and the dust of dryness he can whip up in just a few minutes. He says he'll be just a moment and hurries through the back curtain. You only manage a glimpse of the area beyond but it looks to be a workshop without doors or windows.
    The showroom of the shop haze two windows and the lone door entrance. You can see a sturdy deadbolt on this side of the door but you're smart enough to realize the area is probably protected by magical means as well, given the man's desire for magic. You look at various other items until the man returns. He lays out the quiver, Dust's of Dryness, and then adds the Robe of Resistance +2 and the Headband of Wisdom +2. Together these would cost 8,625 gold. The elf says as much, asking if you would like to buy all of them. He's not much of a salesman but it seems like he knows a little. You counter with a price of 6625 and services.
    "Services? Unless your services include experminetal magic I don't believe I would require any services. how about an even 7900 for the lost?"
    Male Elvish Dhampir, 53/53HP, +4 Init, +3 BAB, +3 CMB, +17 CMD, F +3, R +10, W +4 (+6 vs mind effects), AC 21, Touch 15, FF 17, 4d6 Sneak Attack, Prestidigitation 3/3, Mage Armor 2/2, Poison Use, Death Attack Rogue(Sniper) 5, Assassin 1
    GM:
    Adrien nearly scoffs at the offer 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27. Countering with an even 7500 and suggesting that he will make it worth his while. "7500 gold. If this isn't enough, I do know of secret magic that has been recently recovered. But you'll have to be ready to recieve it on my terms." He starts to reassure the elf. "And if you provide me the tools to fend of this tiefling, I'll guarantee knowledge that even you would be hard pressed to turn down."
    Adrien:
    "Oh really? What kind of magic?"
    GM:
    "Infernal magic, most likely from the deapths of hell itself. Raw arcane power."
    Adrien:
    "Forget it then, I'm sure I know more about Infernal Magic than you've ever dreamed of." His tone is somewhere in between stating a fact and bragging.
    Well then do you have any idea or method in order to find out where are the contract devil of the other houses vince? Or are is this meeting is adjourned while each and everyone gather more information?
    male tiefling
    One of us taking the form of a Sarini noble is the best plan, this is not just a chance to kill a contract devil this is the chance to make ourselves a bit more powerful... After all if one of us is a major noble then said noble could do some investigation into the deeds that House Sarini would prefer others not know about. You can imagine what a few inventive souls with time on their hands could do with that type of knowledge, plus lets not forget the entertainment value.
