Bloody Hour

Seeing Scourge being so cruel to Alabaster, Isaac grits his teeth and clenches his fists. He wants to do something, but most likely his allies, Sandara, Samms, or Rosie hold him back. He thinks to himself, 'When I'm Captain, ye will be first to suffer, Scourge. I swear it.'

@Rosie

Isaac smiles at Rosie. "Well, fer starters, tell me how such a radian' diamon' such as yerself wound up on this ship."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

@Alabaster

After Alabaster explains his plan (in private, of course), Isaac says, "I thank ye for the support and the plan does be seemin' sound. However, there be a few thin's I need to be bringin' up. First, I be appreciatin' what ye be doin' for me. But, I want to be a Captain by me own hand. Recruit a crew and have them suppor' me. Do ye think ye can aid me with this gettin' support business through camaraderie instead of fear? Second, ye have just made herself a targe' for Scourge and Plugg. It will only be gettin' worse for ye, lad. Third, we can't be mountin' a plan like this yet, laddie. While Scourge is the bosun, Plugg is only the first mate. This ship is still manned by Harrigan, a Free Captain. We must be waitin' for the right time." Isaac then asks, "Do ye really want me for Captain? I thought all ye lads thought I was running me mouth."

Isaac

"Dis one be learnin dat da riggers bein da ones we canna sway. All da other bein fair game. Be needin ta get da mate away from da Cap'n or be escapin. Alabaster looks up at Isaac, his eyes clouded by the exhorbitant amount of Grog he drank.
Scourge an' Plugg, they be too cruel. We mighten not be shinin' examples of kindness an' goodwill, bein' pirates an' all, but they be takin' it too far. Me last ship, we fought as a family, an' watched each other's backs, but them, they be out fer themselves. Iffen we ever get caught by the Chels, they be tryin' ta escape an' leave tha rest o' us ta die. Me last ship, we fought till there weren't nothin left. I won't be servin' no captain what won't treat 'is crew like a family. Ye be a Silvermane, an' I saw ye when Scourge was punishin' me. But I did it on purpose, see? Now, I'll be fer havin most of his attention, and ye can be swayin' others ta us, and he won't be noticin', as easy, right? An' besides, I be makin' friends too... Giffer tha gnome, she be a good lass, and Shivikah be good as well. An' then I also be makin' a friend in Grok. Alabaster shows Isaac his hidden pistol and then continues. Aye, I be followin' ye iffen ye wanna be a captain. An' iffen ye got a plan better'in mine ta get ye there, I'll be all ears mate.

@Salt

Isaac nods at Salt. "So, some of the riggers be beyon' our influence, aye? Very well. And I agree. We must be gettin' away from Harrigan first."

@Salt & Alabaster

Isaac looks between both Salt and Alabaster before saying, "Very well then. Mr. Salt. When I'm a Captain, I will be acceptin' you as Navigator. I know of the winds that the sea can hit one with. For a time, I trained on a ship to lessen the effects of storms. The trainin' was particularly near the Eye." He turns to Alabaster. "Mr. Cain. Once I'm a Captain, I'll be needin' a right hand. Since you came to me with the plan and be havin' the greatest support in me, I be greatly considerin' you for First Mate."

Aye, it'd be an honor, what ta be sailin' along wit a Silvermane. Besmara brought us all here fer a reason, an' I'm bettin' we be startin' ta see what it be. We need ta be havin' tha same talkin' wit Ranak an' Edward. They need ta be on our page, see? .

He gives Isaac a firm, and drunkenly clumsy handshake, and then makes his way to his bunk where he passes out half in, his legs and one arm hanging off the side.

Isaac returns Alabaster's handshake with earnest. "Aye. The Pirate Queen be workin' in mysterious ways. Be sure to be tellin' Ranak and Edward as soon as you can, lad."

Edward
Sandara listens attentively to your tale, smiling at the fond memories of your uncle

"Well, it would seem as though you've a lived a better childhood than many in the Shackles. Tis a harsh and brutal place where misery waits 'round any corner. Luckily there are always those who make it a little bit brighter..."

at the last part she looks up at you with a kind smile

Isaac
Rosie nods before starting
"Well that's as good a f@%@ing place to start as any I guess. I was 'recruited' only three days before you by these cursed bastards. I had spent the evening singin' and codling up to all kinds of filth, but thats the life of a singer as pretty as me in these parts. Anyways, I'd just left that low class tavern and was headin' to more appropriate accommodations when I was clubbed upside the bloomin' head and woke up on this thrice damned pile of planks."

Jesal
As you attempt to dump your rum onto the floor Grok catches the mug and quaffs the strong alcohol down in a matter of seconds.

"Don' want ta be wastin the good stuff eh Salt me old boy?" she says with a wink meaning 'you're welcome'

Isaac thinks for a moment before saying, "So, Rosie, I was wondering what yer opinion is bein' of Conchobar?"

Random thought. Do you need Diplomacy checks every time I talk to someone I want to influence? Or is the first Diplomacy check fine?

Bloody Hour.

Ranak watches in silence as Scourge goes off on Alabaster. "That man will get his comeuppance one day. He will indeed."

Then, in an act of defiance, Alabaster confronts the petty man. Ranak looks on, helpless to do anything as the man throws Alabaster on the deck while enjoying his act of cruelty.

After the deed is done and Scourge has left, Ranak goes and helps up the Bard. "I admire your tenacity, I really do. But if you continue like that you're going to get yourself killed, and we don't need that! Come see me tonight and I'll get the stench of that blood out of your clothes."

Later when everyone is in private.

Ranak listens to the talk of loyalty and fighting against Harrigan.

Ranak's demeanor darkens.

"I will have the head of Scourge on a pike for all to see. Any of those pathetic eels come against us and I'll make a soup of that head and feed to them!" he says with venom in his voice.

He turns to Isaac.

"Issac, I'll back you as Captain when we have the chance for our own ship. The only thing I ask is being ships cook and taking care of the arcane dealings."

Night time.

Ranak watches as Jesal tries to get rid of his rum, and when Grok "helps" him from being caught.

"Ho there Grok, hold up a moment."

Ranak brings her aside away from prying ears.

"I understand you are the one I need to talk to for my gear. I don't have anything to offer in return at the moment, though I do have access to the galley. What would you ask of me to get my things? I will say that a radiant beauty like yourself is wasted on a ship like this."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 This may be low but I am still enjoying this.

Afterward, Ranak attempts to get rid of his drink.

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

He will return to the others and fraternize with them until bed time. Also, he cleans Alabaster's clothes like he promised. Prestigitaion. Then he will sleep and awake to meet a new day.

Skipping directly to nightime actions then, feel free to retract anything that goes against what has been botted before of course.

Dario rises from his dazed daydreaming of indeterminate length.

The bloody hour was a sight he would not soon forget. One of his rules had been broken. By his laws, reparations would have to be made.

At night, Dario remains silent but keeps an eye as much as possible on the bigger brass of the ship. Where and when they go about their businesses at night.

Information is golden hombre.

Isaac
No you don't usually a single roll is good enough
Rosie nods at the statement about the joy of travelling and her majestic voice, happy that he likes listening to her sing.

"Sadly I don't get to see much nice sights these days, just big dirty brutes an the planks o' this ugly f!+$ing tub. I must say, you an yer friends are a breath o' fresh air when it comes ta ye appearance."

At the mention of Conchobar Shortstone mixed emotions appear on her face

"He's a right annoying little bastard he is. Not as bad as Plugg mind you, but still a nuisance. He does have his charms though..."

She says the last part under her breath. Then, realizing what she just said she blushes deeply before excusing herself and going to her hammock.

Ranak
As you speak to Grok, your 'gentle' flattery still manages to make her smile in her inebriated state.

"Why yes I am ye handsome devil you, come with me an we'll get ye 'fixed up'"

She drags you away to the shop, returns your gear and enjoys a few drinks and a good laugh with you before returning.

Dario and subsequently everyone else
You spot Plugg enter with his loyal retinue and another person who you've never seen before. A very tall, muscle bound man with a shaved head and feathers stuck to his body with tar. As you observe all of this, Plugg moves to the center of the room and bangs on a table with a mug before calling out.

"Hello there ye pile o' filthy idjits. Hows yer evenin goin' eh? Well if twasn't fun enough already, how'd ye like ta see a nice fight between our good friend Hartshorn here an one o' the new 'recruits'?"

With a roar of applause and a general banging of fists on any hard surface, the crew shows their approval and excitement at the upcoming fight. Plugg then turns towards you and calls out.

"So, who here is man enough ta come forth and face ma good pal here? There's a reward o' 100 gold pieces for whosoever can best im in a fair fight. That means no weapons, no magic an' no tricks"

Rosie

Isaac is about to ask Rosie something before she heads to her bunk. A frown mars his face as he thinks about what she said about Conchobar. His resolve hardens. 'I must be tellin' her soon.'

Plugg/Goliath

Isaac frowns about being called an "idjit". He's about to step forward to accept the challenge when Dario beats him to it. The would-be Captain thinks about it before stating, "Aye. I be secondin' our choice. Hartshorn versus our "Thunderbolt"." He leans in to Dario and whispers into the monk's ear, "Don't be beatin' 'im too bad. Try to be showin' mercy. Sorry for the wait, let the brawl begin!

"Well if ain't our resident "Thunderfist" 'imself. Welcome ta a world o' hurt laddy...

As Dario readies for combat he spots an irregularity in his opponents gaze and figures out that he is, in fact, blind in his left eye. This is an advantage that can easily exploited.
You can roll a DC10 Acrobatics each round to see if you manage to stay in Owlbear's blind spot and avoid his attacks

Round 1, fight!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Dario lets loose with a roar, slamming his fist into his foe. Nonlethal as it is, Dario knows that if he hadn't held back, this is a strike that could have felled a lesser man in one blow.

...But it flies past as the agile monk dodges to the side leaving him stumbling

As he tries to recover, Dario's powerful strike catches him in the jaw sending him reeling and knocking out a couple of blackened teeth in the process. Seeing his prime fighter flailing around so early in the fight, Plugg tosses in his cutlass to the general cheering of the crowd. Seems as though the rules only apply to you after all...

With his newfound weapon in hand, the simple minded brute charges forth, roaring in frustration

As Dario evades the potentially lethal strike from the sharp blade, he proceeds to demonstrate once again to the whole crew why he is nicknamed "Thunderfist" by cracking the large man's jaw under the force of his awesome blow.
The sight of the man rolling o the ground in pain brings back some unpleasant memories among certain members of the crew, noticeably Syl who seems a shade paler than usual as she rubs her grimacing jawline.

Managing to get back on his knees, Owlbear attempts to crawl out of the ring whimpering like a kicked dog. Unluckily enough for him, Plugg is not so merciful and shoves the poor simpleton backward all the while cursing him and telling him to finish the job...

Daily Duties:

Isaac: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Ranak: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Ranak: 1d2 ⇒ 1 1 1 is bad, 2 is good
Dario: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Alabaster: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Edward: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Jesal: 1d6 ⇒ 3

1. Isaac must once again move about the upper riggings. I need 4 DC10 climb checks, on a 4 or less you fail your daily duty.
2. Ranak arrives in the kitchens to find Kroop passed out drunk on the floor, meaning he will have to make tonights dinner alone. DC10 Profession (cooking)
3. Dario, Alabaster and Edward are put to work together, probably for bad conduct on their parts. DC10 Profession (sailor) or DEX, and DC10 CON
4. As for Jesal he is put to work alone repairing an storing the ship's ropes. DC10 Profession (sailor) or DEX

Luck seems to be on my side. Let's hope she stays that way.

Despite fever, the sleep seems to have done Edward some good.
Since he's working the shift along with Dario he gets the chance to talk to the guy.

"Well, the fight certainly went well. The gorilla seemed.....modest of mind, timid even, afterwards."

Day 6

2. Ranak arrives in the kitchens to find Kroop passed out drunk on the floor, meaning he will have to make tonights dinner alone. DC10 Profession (cooking)

I auto succeed. I have a +9, and can only roll at the very least a 1, minimum 10.

Ranak arrives in the galley to once again find the cook passed out on the floor. "Ah, Kroop. One day you'll be free of this place and you won't have to get drunk to escape it."

He moves Kroop off to one side and begins preparation of the food for the day.

Profession: Cooking: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 For giggles.

Before Owlbear is hauled away, Alabaster stands drunkenly, and stumbles to the big man, palms raised in a gesture of peace, while speaking to the entire crew.
Tha Lady, she ain't fer bein' without mercy ta those what get hurt doin' tha jobs they be told onna ship, an' I'm fer figerrin' Owlbear wasn't fer wantin' ta fight fer tha hell of it. Let her healin' power an' her mercy fer her own be shown!

Afterward, once all the hub bub does down, he finds Isaac and has the conversation posted earlier.

Alabaster dutifully performs his duties, but when he gets a chance, he slips away and finds Giffer.
Oy there cutie, I was fer thinkin mayhaps ye can be helpin' me out... Last night, tha man they had fight Dario got beaten pretty what for, an' I was fer wantin' ta check up on 'im and be makin sure he ain't fer need in' more healin', see? Thing is, I ain't fer knowin where ta find 'im... I was fer thinkin' o' seein' if I can be takin' 'im somethin' ta ease his defeat too, be ye knowin' of anythin' he likes or wants? Can ye tell me where he be?

Alabaster makes sure the exchange happens away from Scourge or Plugg, but in front of as much of the crew as possible.
Isaac be wantin' ta use nice-ness an' such ta' win 'em over, I'll be fer doin it. The poor man deserves it anyway...

Alabasters daytime action is to find Owlbear, heal him, and if he can find out something to take him that he likes or wants then to do that to. Owlbear could be a great ally.

Previous night...

Isaac nods at Dario. Isaac steps to Owlbear. "Good fight, ser! You be fightin' wit' the tenacity of yer namesake, friend!" As he leaves for his bunk, he stumbles, feeling warm before shaking it off and continuing his way.

Daytime

Dang it. I'm sick.

Con vs fever: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Double dang it. Alabaster, a little help, please?

Isaac wakes up, feeling like crud. He moans, stumbling a bit. He slowly be surely makes his way to the deck... only to be hit by the rain. He grumbles out, "Bloody perfect." before making his way to his job assignment. He accepts Dario's help with a small, weary smile. He then makes his way to the Riggins.

Just like Ranak's cooking checks, I auto pass my Climb checks since I have a +9. But I'll roll to see how well Isaac does.
Climb: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Climb: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Climb: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Despite his fever and pounding headache, the Aspiring Captain performs his job admirably. When he gets an opportunity, he climbs down from the Riggins and approaches Sandara. Hopefully, the cleric will be able to help him! He gives his best smile and says, "Ahoy, Sandara. I be sorry fer troublin' ye. But, I'm not feelin' too well. I was wonderin' if mayhaps I could get the Lady's blessin' fer this blight on me person."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
If I still have that bonus from the rum ration, then this becomes 22.

Sanadara feels your forehead and sighs "Boy you are shivering and hot at the same time, and I don't mean in a good way! You go to bed early this evening and try to sweat it out. I will check again tomorrow morning."

+2 on your Fort save on day 7, this does not count as your day action, so you can still take that.

Jesal, day action taken
Jesal works diligently all day and manages to avoid drawing any attention

Fine with me. I can not know if you use preview to check the dice before submitting a post anyway. PbP operates on a trust system

- - -

Alabaster
Giffer plucks at her eyepatch "Now if you start calling me cutie, I might start calling you one-eye" she smiles and continues "Owlbear is an officer, although I only see him on deck when we are about to board another ship." she looks around and lowers her voice "I think he was only made an officer because of his great strength and his gullability, he always just does what Plugg wants. However I am sure Owlbear appreciated your gesture of healing him"

What is your day action?

Ranak
Ranak cooks a marvellous meal again. At dinner time the captain's cabin girl comes to retrieve the captains dinner for four persons.

Looking back at the posts, i did talk to the quartermaster getting my things back.

Daytime action:
Edward will go have another chat with "Ironfist" Cogwald about the fight.
I'm unsure with the NPCs, when they get to friendly from indifferent, does that remove the need for diplomacy rolls?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

"Hey there Cogwald.
I wasn't sure Dario would win, that owlbear guy was one of the biggest fighters i've ever seen. He would make some good contende in Riddleports organized fights, you too for that matter. Have you fought him as well, since your punches aren't the softest either."

Ranak will sneak about to do a bit of exploring. With Kroop being drunk, nobody should be the wiser.

Perception to search for anything of interest: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

I preview my dice rolls so I can make descriptive actions based on said results. I have used it for hilarious (and others too) effects, so it is fun to play with.
