On the coastal shore of the ocean, there is a medium-sized harbor town known as Pelican Bay. And it is a peaceful place, save but for the odd shark attack, shipwreck, and pirate attack.
Yet lately, on the previously uninhabited island several miles off shore, a new green castle that wasn't there before can be seen at night. And with it, a strange green light that acts like a lighthouse, guiding sailors safely to Pelican Bay.
But no one has ever been able to find the strange new Viridian Castle in the daytime, nor has anyone dared at night.
And lately, more and more people have been disappearing from Pelican Bay. At first, nobody really cared, since it was derelicts. But now it's the mayor's sickly son who has vanished.
Mayor Durro has sent his elite squad to the island, yet they found nothing. So now he's got no choice but to pay, and pay a lot, for adventuring heroes to find his son and the other missing people and solve the mystery of The Viridian Castle.
Character Creation: I'd like to use 5D6 keep the best 3, but you have to post your results on the board so I'll know you're being fair.
I've never run a Pathfinder game before so I'd like you all to stick to core and the Advanced Player's Guide.
And please start at level 1, 2 if you can justify it.
Assume all other Pathfinder rules to be as normal.
Thank you for your interest. I'll give this four days before recruitment closes.
Your reward is 1,000 gp per character if you complete the mission to the mayor's satisfaction.

Hey Digger!
Kristev how many players are you taking and would you consider a character like Eldlen here. He's second level, one level ranger (trapper) second magician, he wants to be an Eldrich knight. He would be able to deal with traps and handle magic (just in case mderm goes cleric wink, wink, nudge, nudge, Obviously I would rework him based on the following rolls and cash limitations.
Speaking of which how do you want money handled? Also How many traits (I believe two is standard) and will you be permitting background skills?
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 1, 5) = 13 - 2 = 11
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 5, 1) = 18 - 5 = 13
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6, 4) = 23 - 6 = 17
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 1, 6) = 15 - 2 = 13
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4, 6) = 16 - 2 = 14
stats: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6, 5) = 20 - 5 = 15
I can live with that,

Staryn |

Hope I'm doing this right.
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 2, 3) = 16 -2, -3 = 11
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2, 3) = 12 -2, -2 = 8
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 4, 2) = 16 -1, -2 = 13
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 3, 2) = 18 -2, -3 = 13
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 6, 6) = 22 -2, -3 = 17
Stats: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 5, 5) = 25 -4, -5 = 16

Eldlin is fine. A group needs a good leader anyway. I like the idea of having one person slightly stronger than the rest because you don't know what I'm planning. And I did say I'd allow level 2 if it could be justified, so, hoist by my own petard. But I do ask that you change Eldlin's deity to one from the core handbook if you can. I don't know who his deity is.
Halfling bard. Oh dear. This is going to be a very mischieveous campaign. Okay, the halfling bard's in, have your fun. Just don't run away with the game, lol.
By the way, XP progression will be fast because I don't think it's fair to keep pcs at low levels all campaign long. But I warn you now, I'm full of tricks and love to twist things.

Grunyar Thunderhelm |

I think for the most part, Grunyar's crunchy bits are finished.
The short background concept is that Grunyar of Clan Thunderhelm was filling his duty as learning the secrets of brewing/selling the Thunderhelm Ale when he felt the call to Torag's service. While Grunyar had considered himself as pious as the next dwarf, it did surprise his family that their boisterous barroom brawling son was taking up the path of the paladin.
Even after passing the trials of Torag to gain full access to the All Father's blessing, Grunyar knows that his path will not be the same as some of his brethren. He feels his calling will be helping out those who have lost their way and just need a gentle, yet firm, push to get them back on track.
His armor and axe are simple, but still quite serviceable, but Grunyar knows his greatest strength is in his instincts of reading people. The skills of a merchant have only been refined during his years of apprenticeship as a Paladin and his stare can chill a man with its intensity.
I will work on fleshing it out further tomorrow, but for now, I think it gives you an idea of where I am coming from with the char.
Thoughts?

You get standard starting gold from the Player's Handbook.
this is RH's ranger/wizard Eldlen, he will be going eldritch Knight, since he is 2nd level can he start with the 1,000 gp? listed in the chart for "Character wealth by level" found here?
Also are we rolling for 2nd level HP or doing it PFS style?
I'm not sure which gods are covered in the Core and Advanced Player's Guide, this is Ketephys the Elven deity I had listed for Eldlen, I will change it to Calistria She is one of the deities in the Inner Sea region who is revered by elves.

5d6 - 3 - 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 3, 4) - 3 - 4 = 14
5d6 - 3 - 3 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 3, 3) - 3 - 3 = 14
5d6 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 1, 1) - 1 - 1 = 13
5d6 - 5 - 5 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 5, 5) - 5 - 5 = 17
5d6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 5, 2) - 1 - 2 = 14
5d6 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1, 4) - 1 - 1 = 10
In order: 17;14;14;14;13;10
I'm interested in making a Zen Archer Monk.

Alfred Ensbridge |

Here is Rostam's Halfling Bard, Alfred Ensbridge. He has recently come to Pelican Bay for the library and has decided to aid the poor lost souls that are disappearing.
I do have a bit of a conflict with him though, I am not sure if I should make him Lawful Good or Chaotic good. This stems from his near dogmatic support of the freedoms of others, so much so that he almost follows a code of freedom.
For now he is Chaotic Good, but I may change him if I decide to write a legitimate code for it.

Alfred Ensbridge |

Perhaps you should make him Neutral Good so he can be lawful when it suits him and chaotic when it suits him? But it's just a suggestion. Feel free to ignore it.
I like Alfred.
I had thought of that but the extremes are much more fun to play. Will probably end up neutral good in the end though.

I like the team we've got, including Cathran the sorceress. So I think we'll probably start tomorrow morning.
Where would you all like to start? Seperately and meeting each other somewhere, or all in one place, and if so, which place? If it were left up to me, I'd have you start collectively at Ginny's Tonics, but that's just me. I'll take input.

Ginny's sounds good. I don't have any preferences for immediate background story. I'm happy to work things around the introduction and other characters' posts.
@Kristev, couple of questions:
1) What is the era/world of the setting? Is it basically modern life with Pathfinder races, magic and technology?
2) Where do the group come from: are they 'hired guns' from out of town or 'local contractors'? Do you want us to choose for ourselves?
3) Is there an NPC middleman we all know? Maybe the mayor's aide or something?
Thanks!
Looking forward to this :)

Yeah, the Aasimar cleric is in if you still want to be. :)
Ginny's sounds good. I don't have any preferences for immediate background story. I'm happy to work things around the introduction and other characters' posts.
To answer the questions,
1) Very well. Modern technology helps me, too, so all right, we'll play it as if it were modern life with Pathfinder races, magic, and tech.
2) The players are free to decide for themselves if they're locals, if they live in the larger metropolis part of Pelican Bay rather than this, the ritzy, wealthy outskirts, or if they're entirely from the outside. (And whether they're from the mainland outside of Pelican Bay or if they came in on a ship.)
3) Well, let's see here. You all know Ginny and you all know Sheriff Eileen Brady. Anyone else, it depends on what your character is focused on. For example, Réaltín knows Dr. Barbara Mengoak, the town's marine biologist and horror novelist, because both of them spend so much of their time at the library.
Thanks!
Looking forward to this :)
Going to make the opening post real soon.

Is cleric your favored class? If it is, that'll help. And so can high intelligence.
If that's still not enough skill points to satisfy you, I'll let you have the extra skill points, but you'll have to sacrifice another class feature, like a trade-off. Perhaps increased skill points for fewer uses of Channel Divinity or something?
