Bankanor Dordukan |
Dammit Kimble!
Seeing Kimble jump the pit, Bankanor realized their money was walking into a death trap.
"Guys, we've gotta pull back over the pit and follow Kimble, he's the only reason we're here, not to kill these.... things!" Bankanor calls out across the battle field.
Noting his companions haggered condition he also calls out "I will cover the retreat, all of you go!"

Joshua's out, Uriel's out, just gotta hold on while the others fall back, they look like a stiff breeze will do them in
Grunting with effort, Bankanor continues to hold the line, moving back slowly as he does so.

"Well Bankanor, with that skeleton down we should be able to keep these ones at bay easily enough" Devon says as he continues to strike and then step back.

Im confused as to who and what we are fighting. How many of these ethereal things are there and is the undead guy thats talking attacking, acting aggressively or just narrarating.
The liquid creatures are attacking. There are a dozen and more coming. They are difficult to see at a range so it is hard to say how many are coming. The skeletal champion was defeated. The talking skull was worn on the belt of the skeletal champion and us now in the hands of the bard. The skull is not attacking.

The liquid creatures are formed of a translucent acid. They are in the shape of humanoids, although they have no fine features. They shamble slowly and clumsily, yet their attacks seen fairly swift & calculated. The acid damage seems minimal. They are tough; you are uncertain if they have alot of hit points or they if they are not taking full damage from attacks.

For those now in the room:
The thick rug let's out a cloud of dust as you leap into the room. Kimble lights a lamp, and shadows dance in the corners of the room. The dried husk of the dwarf is hanged from a grand chandelier, crafted of sturdy timbers and great iron brackets. Several fine padded chairs and small tables line the walls of the room.
The room is 25 ft wide and 30 ft long. At the north end of the room (the door you jumped in through was on the south wall) are 3 thresholds. Two large double doors on both the east and west walls, and a smaller rounded door at the center of the north wall.
All of the doors are closed expect the one you came in through. There are no windows.

"Our turn, Bankanor." With that Devon swings one last time and disengages and leaps across the pit.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Acrobatics to jump pit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Joshua let out a chuckle.
"I wouldn't worry about it, my friend. You have worse health issues right now, I am afraid. I am sorry to tell you this, but you are dead, and only your skull remains. Who are you? What happened to you?"
Bankanor Dordukan |
-"Aye you be right" Bankanor says to Devon as he takes one last swing at the creatures.

After the swing Bankanor then turns and runs for the pit and jumps over it.

Bankanor Dordukan |
That hurt...
Calling out to his friends "Hey keep them off the pit while I climb out"
Bankanor then sheaths his Bardiche and calls on the aid of his god to give him strength
Swift action to use strength blessing
Bankanor gets in a corner and braces against the two sides then starts climbing out.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 4 + 1 = 8
Joshua Tansden |
"Keep watch on that flying skull!"
Joshua goes to help Bankanor, extending his hand to help him.
Can he take 10 and give him a +2? If not...
Climb Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

John jumps over the pit.
Bankanor struggles in vain to find a hand hold to climb. Being covered in snow is not helping the situation. With Bankanor waist deep in snow it now seems more like a 25 foot deep pit. An extended hand offers no aid.
Kimble rummages through his bag.
The liquid creatures approach the edge of the pit.
Uriel Valco |
Attack at Thing?: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 11
Uriel moves to shoot an arrow at the approaching liquid creature, "Don't call my damn dog foul bird. DIO, to me! DIO returns to the Ranger's side, "Rope in my pack including acids, holy water, and fire bombs. Use them to keep them off the goat if you have to!"
Joshua Tansden |
I thought it was closer, can I retcon then?
Joshua takes a rope from his backpack, and will lower it to help Bankanor climb up.
Overthinker |
As bankanor climbs, one of the creatures hurls a glob of bilious slime at the rope. The rope sizzles and snaps.
Bankanor takes 1 point of acid splash damage.
Several of the other creatures are filling their hands with globs of ooze.
One creature stands at the edge of the pit, his arms outstretched towards Bankanor. A second ooze creature places it's hands on the back of the first, and walking forward, it's arms are adsorbed into the first. As this happens, the outstretched arms of the first lengthen. They enloagate down towards the goatmen, stretching thin, fingers growing into claws.
A third and fourth ooze join in turn, creating a bizarre conga line of slime.
