Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Kikinnin does not let himself fool by the Cagewright's illusions, averting his eyes, he avoids the images and hits twice on the wizard, opening horrible gashes on his chest.

Marigold's spiritual weapon is misslead by the images.

Maxim though recovers his wits and his magic missiles barrage sends the proud but skinny wizard to the ground!

Combat is over!

K12. SCRYING CHAMBER
This perfectly circular room is featureless save for an irregular smear of black ice that covers the center of the floor. Even from a distance the ice seems filled with distant and shadowy images.

K. arcana DC 15:

The strange ice seems a larger version of the scrying lattice you found previously.

"That's it, Bror! You're back, eh? Not like the boy, though. Strange magic, that makes you hit yourself. JJ, stop hitting yourself." Kikinnin looks at Marigold, and shrugs his shoulders. "Is there anything we can do to stop him? Or do we just let the magic wear off? Is he cursed? I can help, if he is. Abadar can see to it."

Kikinnin looks over the Cagewright's wares, taking a mental inventory. Before they leave the room, they should mete out the magics so they're stronger yet for what's to come.

"What do we do about the black ice? If Fetor holed himself up with it, is it valuable to us to use, or valuable enough to the Cagewrights to destroy it?"

The black beard watches in dismay as Maxim and JJ continue to struggle with Abradius's affliction. He moves to close the door to the hallway, but debates the Watchers' placement. "Marigold, Kythel, maybe it's best if you step outside the room, and let me close the door. I keep seeing wildness behind the pair's eyes. They may hurt themselves for awhile, but I'd like to avoid them hurting the rest of you."

If Marigold and Kythel are amenable, Kikinnin walls off the Confused, and stands in front of the door, taking Total Defense. He doesn't know exactly how long he'll have to wait. He also doesn't know if he'll need to brain either of them unconscious to make them more pliable.

"M-Maxim said s-something about a c-c-confusion spell? I c-can't dispel it, b-but I could t-try to b-break the enchantment..." Marigold offers as Kikinnin is quick to shield her and Kythel from JJ and Maxim's strange and destructive behavior.

If we don't want to wait for it to wear off on its own, Marigold can try Break Enchantment to end the madness a bit sooner. If we do want her to try...

Kikinnin steps to the black ice, and thinks on the fire giant, Dugobras. If the black ice shows any signs of activity, the black beard will observe what he can, before he changes his thoughts, to what was predicted to be here in Karran Kural- an undead green dragon lich, by the name of Dittziss Bale.

...

Feeling the thrumming power of Eldgammel, Kikinnin breaks away from the black ice, and proceeds back down the corridor, to the next awaiting door. He doesn't like the narrow halls, so he waves his companions to remain around the turn in the intersection, until he's opened the door and examined what lies beyond.

You recognize this creature from the books about Carceri and demodands you read recently. This is a Tarry Demodand (outsider - chaotic, demodand, evil, extraplanar) specifically the grunt of the demodand army—bred for battle, these swift and deadly demodands make up the bulk of any demodand legion. That they themselves are more powerful than most outsiders is as much a testament to their race as anything else—a single tarry demodand is a formidable opponent.

This creatures are immune to acid and poison, have Damage Reduction to non good AND magical weapons and a considerable spell resistance. And have resistance to cold and fire.

The constantly detect magic and goodness. They can dispel magic and cast chaos hammer.

Despite the lithe of their wings they are good flyers.

>DC 28

Spoiler:
They usually know to Lunge and have Combat Reflexes that allows them to constantly react in combat.

Their skin is adhesive and any attack menaces to leave the weapon used stuck in them Ref 23 to avoid. If a weapon is struck, it requires a successful grapple check to free it.

They have the skill to severe the sacred link between divinities and their followers. Each successful attack on a divine caster, renders the caster unable to use spells for 1 round Will DC 22 to avoid.

Their soul is so heretical that they have a +4 against all divine magic, and cannot be subject to scrying.

Let's see if this might work...

Kikinnin sees the complications before them, so shatters the first space in front of him to make room hopefully allowing a clean 5' step, before leveling the rest of his Full Round attack at adjacent spaces, to make room for the others to step lively.

Would try to pop as many squares as possible, so the first two forward, and the one square Maxim is occupying. Of course, the GM oversees this PC maneuver...

Maxim moves forward to the edge of the room as his bror presses toward their foe... (10ft Move Action).

The gun-mage reaches for the broad shouldered warrior ahead of him, muttering an incantation as he does;

"Bloed van helden ontwaakt!" (Gnome: "Blood of heroes awaken!")

... clapping his glowing hand upon the armoured back of his bror.

My understanding of the blessing is that, unlike haste, it doesn't give you a bonus move you can take, so I can't move and full attack, so likely just one space destroyed. Kikin maybe able to 5' step into that and do a full attack to clear more though. I'm not 100% clear on which squares are latice at the moment, and which are not.

Kikinnin doesn't like the demodand's presence any more than he likes the Lattice preventing easy movement through this room. The hate emanating from the guardian is visceral, and it makes the black beard wonder how the spellweavers kept it from attacking them when they tripped through the room, themselves.

"Hey, JJ, you should translate what it's saying, to the rest of us. Uh, anything useful, I guess I should add."

Marigold observes the spell hammering her companions and brings up a prayer to compensate.

JJ and Kikinnin shrug the effects of the chaos hammer, the young man specially not affected.

They then team up to open a way through the nasty lattices so Kikinnin can reach the creature and deliver a powerful smiting strike that chops its neck. Kikinnin notes his axe seems to stick in the neck of the demodand but he quickly retrieves back the weapon. Surprisingly, the Tarry Demodand seems to survive with his neck half cut.

Kikinnin nods a single time over the fallen blasphemy. "The Cagewrights are a piece of work. Trucking with ice devils, and tarry demodands... and we still haven't set eyes on the lich." He wipes off what he can of the tar, though he leaves a spot of it, in case it supports his argument with further guardians.

"So the Cagewrights knew enough of this place to avoid their own guardians, eh? They left Fetor to his own devices. I'm glad to burn the evil from this place, but we didn't get much information out of Abradius. Are we gonna try and destroy the Soul Pillars, when we find them? Just gathering my thoughts."

Still soaked in supportive magics, Kikinnin doesn't waste time standing and talking. He keeps hacking at obstructive Lattice, in case they have to book a straight retreat across this room, before he tries the opposite door. Looking to create a straight line of destroyed Lattice from door to door. Only after everyone is ready to march onwards, of course.

When his friends have gathered, he does his best to caution them away from a direct look through the door, in case another blast of magic tries to skewer a marching line. Then he opens it.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

A cursory gaze at the eastern corridor reveals it is collapsed a few feet forward, but a tunnel opens by the side. Kikinnin looks inside, and to the extend of his darkvision the tunnel, excavated in the rock of Karran Kural, goes on.

Coming back to the door, the dwarf opens it to find a long corridor full of iron doors, each of which is choked over with ice. As far as his darkvision reaches, the hallway goes on, packed with icy iron doors.
