Arma Fili Sustinuit |
Arma flinches internally at the words spoken by Doritian but does not waver as spear points from undead before her glance harmlessly off her. Even as her swing fails to find purchase in the undead about her she shouts over the din again. This time her voice shaken by anger but her words confident.
"I know you... Your better than that Doritian!"
Then as the skeletons crumble to dust and the words of Kyrax ring out she charges again forward with some hope. Her voice loud and its tone certainly not wavering.
"I know... You are not like this!"

Zhu Katai |
Zhu had no patience for these petty prejudices, but Doritian isn't the main villain here. "Die, you arrogant wizard!" Zhu points at Xorshak and releases twin bolts of magical force.
Sorry for holding things up. Zhu fires two magic missiles.

Round 1 End
Doritian's slack face... grows even moreso at Pontia's threat. His lips spread in a mirthless grin which widens... and widens... and widens, almost Goblin-like. The skin at the corners of his mouth cracks and blood starts to leak out.
"Dhalavei knows the truth of your soul, little girl," a feminine, sing-song voice issues from Doritian's mouth. "Your soul will run forever, scream forever, burn forever - but the Dark Lady may bring unto you the peace of oblivion."
Zhu and Noya both fire at Xorshak, bow and magic. Their projectiles fly true -- and bounce off, uselessly. For a brief moment, Zhu can see the outline of a transparent oval, hanging in front of the enemy Wizard, who barely pauses in his chanting to bestow on you a brief flicker of a smile...

THE MAP
(All hail to Pontia. Can we have a Robert icon, though? ^^;
Mirandix runs up to Bangu-Bangu and delivers a terrible blow to the ugly Goblinoid!
Noya
Kyrax
Bydar
Robert starts moving, ready to flank Bangu-Bangu (but from that starting position, I don't think you can get there and attack in one go.)
Arma boldly runs up to the vicious little Goblin to add her might...
And Kezzat suddenly screams as pain blossoms in her back! Those so inclined may turn to see what has befallen and see a dagger jutting from the little Goblin's shoulder -- and beyond, in the corridor you all came up is another familiar face...
11 points of damage to Kezzat.

Doritian -- NPC |
... As Arma runs up to challenge Bangu-Bangu, steel flickers out in front of her face, sweeps around her blade and sweeps it up in a harsh, controlled arc -- one which goes right against her joints!
"No," that eerie, alien voice says to you out of Doritian's mouth, his hell-hole eyes staring into yours. "It is you who must die first, not him."
Doritian makes an attempt to disarm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Arma, you get AoO to counter or else...
Secunda Jeggare |
In the corridor outside stands Secunda Jeggare! Her fine clothes stained with dirt, ashes and blood, her face scoured by her own fingernails and her skin as pale as a corpse's, the Chelish lady regards you all with joyful insanity.
"Hello again," she says, as brightly as a socialite greeting friends at a dance even as a flick of the wrist brings a fresh dagger to her hand. "Have you missed me, my dears?"
Arma Fili Sustinuit |
The words that come from Doritian's bloodied mouth leave Arma fighting herself to move beyond the distraction they cause. He gaze centered on the small goblin before her she continues to rush towards him heedless of the danger.
As her scimitar and shield descends at the end of her charge, the blade is turned and flicked from her grasp to the floor. Turning on honed instinct again to see the bloodied and twisted face of Doritian, as her gauntlet covered fist rears back she halts such as her will to strike out is stalled.
"Damn. Fight it Doritian. Please."
The pained cry of Kezzat as well as the familiarly insane voice of the Lady Secunda add some urgency to her efforts and voice as she shouts aloud.
"Mirandix. Move to flank. Noya! Pontia! Help the others with Secunda. Robert. Disarm Doritian."
Arma in mid shout of her instruction bends down to pick up the dropped blade watching him carefully.

Robert, le Bâtard |
DM, please do not forget to consider that Robert will attack without flanking if he can not get to the right position. He is using a ranged attack. Also, if there is any opportunity for a sneak attack, he will use it.
After Bangu Bangu is dead he will focus on Xorshak. If he is too far to use the chakrams, he will shift to the crossbow instead.
Kyrax Preyfar |
Burning a ki point Kyrax vanishes. He then then burns another Ki point 20' additional movement. and silently charges the wizard.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 20 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 20 - 5 = 27 As he reaches the target he slashes with his black scimitar hoping to disrupt the casting.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 241d6 + 6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 + (5) = 19
Zhu Katai |
Zhu curses in Tien. "Xorshak is shielded!" he says, though he seems more angry at himself for not anticipating such an obvious defense.
Seeing Noya approach the wizard, he decides to change targets and aid those fighting the apparently ensorcelled and dangerous Doritian. He bites the inside of his cheek and, drawing blood, calls upon the arcane strength of his accursed forbearer. A ray of glowing green energy shoots out of his outstretched hand toward Doritian.
Zhu casts ray of enfeeblement.

As usual, he is not the most graceful elf known, and leaves an opening for the little goblin to exploit. Once he is behind Bangu, he slashes at the goblin again.

DM Quoth |
Alright, I'm moving us ahead! If you haven't acted yet... Do so now. ^^;
Mirandix runs up to Bangu-Bangu and delivers a terrible blow to the ugly Goblinoid! Mirandix already had acted this round, but I'll okay the flank. However, there is the small matter of an AoO... Even as he tries to move acrobatically, however, the brave Elf leaves himself open to an attack with a rusty dogslicer! He is fortunate enough to evade...
Noya moves up the hallway, takes firm aim on Xorshak and unleashes another arrow. Sadly, the tension of battle throws off her aim, and the arrow clatters against the fiendish fangs hovering over the Wizard's head, rather than strike his flesh.
Kyrax vanishes, using his powers of Ninjutsu, only to reappear at Xorshak's side and cut into his flesh...! The Wizard jolts, eyes widening in temporary surprise ... but continues to chant unabated.
When you pull your sword out, there is NO BLOOD ON IT!
Bydar directs his priestly magic at Doritian, commanding him to drop his sword -- and the Andoran obeys! Even as the ancestral longsword falls clattering to the ground, Doritian's expression goes from the unholy emptiness it has held to one of dull - and very human - surprise.
Robert moves up the battlefield and lashes out at Bangu-Bangu, cutting another bloody wound into the wretched Goblin's hide. The priest of the Red Debbulls howls his fury!
Arma scoops up her sword from the ground and starts to lash out at Bangu-Bangu again, but her attack goes wide... and Doritian may be disarmed, but he is moving!
NPC interlude.
Initiative: Mirandix - Noya - Kyrax - Bydar - Robert - Arma - Secunda Jeggare - Kezzat - Doritian - Pontia - Zhu - Bangu-Bangu - Xorshak
Bangu-Bangu AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.
Xorshak concentration 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 4 = 29
Doritian Will save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Secunda Jeggare |
Laughing shrilly, Secunda takes a gliding, dance-like step back and beckons to Kezzat.
"Widdle Gobbie wants to play?" she calls out, tauntingly. "I already had so - much - fun playing with the bastard! Isn't widdle Gobbie sca-yu-red!"
The crazed noblewoman holds her ground and waits for Kezzat to approach, then lashes out with her knife, her smile turned to a snarl. "Die, you green-skinned filthspawn, DIE! Why couldn't you worthless Gobs just eat the little cow instead of handing her off to some Wizard?!"
Kezzat takes another 5 damage!
DM Quoth |
Despite having just been stabbed herself, Kezzat manages to light into the treacherous Secunda, drawing blood...! But she is definitely starting to look peaky herself!
Pontia comes to Kezzat's aid, but her acid dart shoots bare inches past Secunda's head and splatters the stone behind her instead of burning her flesh!
Zhu fires his ancestral magic at Doritian, but unfortunately the young Andorman makes a swift, jerky motion at exactly the wrong time, allowing the spell to go wide...
Initiative: Mirandix - Noya - Kyrax - Bydar - Robert - Arma - Secunda Jeggare - Kezzat - Doritian - Pontia - Zhu - Bangu-Bangu - Xorshak
Doritian -- NPC |
"Better?" Doritian dully repeats Arma's words. "I am... better?"
As Arma reaches down for her sword, Doritian's arm moves with a strength and surety that his face lacks; quick as a viper, he draws a dagger from his belt. And just as quickly, he stabs out at his childhood friend, standing right there in front of him! Once... twice... thrice!
"There is no better," Doritian says, sounding almost sad. "Not anymore. There is only Doritian... and Dhalavei... and hence... nothing."
Doritian finishes his brutal attack with a slash across Arma's face...!
"Hold still, dear friend," Doritian says. "Hold still and I will make this quick for you."
Thanks to a successful crit, Arma takes 27 damage...!
Doritian uses his move action to draw a dagger, then takes an AoO... and another AoO... and finishes with a standard attack, all on poor Arma.
Dagger AoO #1 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage.
Dagger AoO #2 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 damage.
Dagger attack (standard) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage.
Crit threat one: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage.
Crit threat two: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 damage.
Bangu-Bangu -- NPC |
"No!" Bangu-Bangu shrieks as he is cut again and again. "NO! Destiny! You cannot thwart my DESTINY!"
Feverishly, the Goblin tries to cast a spell on himself and disengage from the battle. His mad, red eyes seek out Xorshak across the length of the throne room and he waves his dogslicer.
"DESTINYYY~!"
Bangu-Bangu tries to use Acrobatics to get out of the fight: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4. As this fails, he tries to cast Cure light wounds on himself for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 points -- and everyone currently in combat with him gets an AoO!
Xorshak Calistril |
Xorshak finishes his casting despite your best efforts to thwart him -- and casually lays one hand on a black quarterstaff propped up against his throne.
"Well now," the Wizard says, his eyes boring into Kyrax'. "You are certainly quick on your feet."
All around, Kyrax can feel the gathering momentum of the spell coming into effect!
"Let us see how well you dance with these," Xorshak says, a lugubrious smile creasing his lips as two small portals open next to you and disgorge creatures that reek of brimstone and rot. Rats the size of terriers harry Kyrax from both sides, squealing even as they nip at him! One of the rats manages to find a tear in Kyrax' armour and digs in, sharp teeth slicing through his skin and injecting some infernal foulness into his bloodstream!
"And just to show that I am not a distant host," the Wizard murmurs -- and he starts to chant again!
Xorshak finishes casting and summons 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 fiendish dire rats!
Kyrax takes 1 damage and has to make a Fort. save, DC 11, or contract Filth fever.
Xorshak starts casting again; this allows Kyrax an immediate AoO to disrupt. Xorshak has a Concentration check of 24; this is what you will have to beat...
Unless Kyrax manages to interrupt the spell, he finds himself pelted with four bolts of unerring force!
That would be 13 points of damage to you, so... Yikes!
Rat #1 flank-attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 2 = 19 for 1d4 ⇒ 1
Rat #1 flank-attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6 for 1d4 ⇒ 1
Xorshak Concentration check 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 4 = 24
Magic missile 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 1) + 4 = 13
Blikbek -- NPC |
Amid the carnage, you all suddenly hear a new sound. Thin, warbling and uncertain, it is nevertheless there, waving a tiny flag of hope in a brutal world. It is a voice, singing a song of timid defiance.
Blikbek has started to sing...!
Inspire courage +1 is up! Everyone take +1 to attack rolls, damage rolls and saves vs. fear!
Mirandix Anterian |
Do all of these buffs stack? They are all listed in my summary.
Mirandix slashes at Bangu Bangu as he begins his horrible prayer.
Power Attack
AoO: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 20.
Damage: 1d10 + 8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 17.
Watching Doritian's viciously quick attacks, Mirandix's eyes narrow and he strikes at the man with lethal intent.
Power Attack
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 26.
Damage: 1d10 + 8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 21.
Continuing the motion of the strike against Doritian, Mirandix's blade seeks the goblin's life again.

Pontia Canario |
Mirandix, you don't get the bonus from battle dance--that's only for Kyrax. Inspire courage gives a competence bonus to hit and to damage, which stacks with the morale bonus on attack rolls from bless, and I think Flagbearer stacks with inspire courage. With that, I make it that you're getting +3 on attack rolls and +2 on damage rolls.
Bydar |
When he goes
"Never rains but it pours," Bydar curses as both Kezzat and Arma get hurt badly, and neither close to the other.
he tries to position himself behind Kezzat so the psychotic woman who's carving her won't be able to get him as well, and heals her if he can. "Hang in there, Arma. I'll try to get to you after I've helped poor Kezzat here."
CLW on Kezzat: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Arma Fili Sustinuit |
At Doritian's dull words Arma has a moment of hope... But the others only leave her unguarded by how twisted they seem.
"Doritian... Please... I..."
The first stab leaves little but pain and the now fading surprise as Arma feels it pierce her exposed shoulder, the next digging further into her arm where the pauldron had been ripped away cleaving the wound open once more. But as the final mad slash arcs wild in force but true in aim, it slides in and cuts deep into her nose and cheek as it knocks up her visor, jamming it open, only the shocked jerk of her head keeps it from being worse.
"DORITIAN!!! STOP!!!"
Her eyes wide she raises her shield and readies herself to weather the storm of the mad man that had taken him over. Her shield and stance clearly set to the defensive. Shock and confusion as well as pain and rage play horrified across her face.
"You are not nothing... I won't lose you... I lov..."
As Bangu-Bangu falls the violent look to Mirandix as his blade raises high calls her to act.
"...MIRANDIX!!! NO!!!"
As he strikes out at Doritian, Arma wills her weakened shield arm to still try and deflect his attacks. Her defensive stance set leaving her no way to fight back or to strike out though she would not.
