D'oh! I didn't know that - no, you have to advance on the door to kill the spider. The fire arrow could have startled the spider out of its hole. No one said adventuring was safe.

I don't know what it is I know. Didn't we all see the hole get smaller as the arrow flew by?

You know it's a giant trapdoor spider. And yes, everyone saw it.
