I need a Fort save from Longjing
Sirettis recognizes the larger frog as a run-of-the-mill giant frog. It doesn't appear to be affected by Demon's Bile, but it can grab its opponents with its tongue. No one recognizes the smaller frogs. Low DC on the giant one. It's a pretty common creature, I think

Sir D. Arthraven |
With combat over, D. approaches to take a look at Gallix & Sirettis' handiwork.
"If we were in Tian Xia, we could have gotten a chef to prepare you the frog for dinner. It's not my preference, though."
Sirettis |
"But the frog is poisonous. Oh! Could you cook the poison out?" Sirettis is curious, but her hair subconsciously reaches for her wand instead. "Oh, yes. was anyone injured?"
Feel free to roll 1d8+1 to heal yourself.
Sirettis looks around. "If we are done here, we should check the south east corner. There may be more bile to eliminate before we enter the manor itself."
Sir D. Arthraven |
"There's a certain type of fish, that is highly poisonous.
Even the tiniest bit of its poison will kill you, but even for that, there are specially trained chefs who can prepare them for consumption."
GM Red |
Pufferfish! Ever try it?
With the frog trio dispatched, and Longjing likely feeling much better, the more alchemy-inclined amongst you get the idea it may be possible to select certain leaves and flowers from the rows of bushes for the purpose of creating medicine or antidotes.
One PC can make a DC 10 Craft (alchemy), Heal, Kn (Nature), or Survival check to collect enough plants to sell to your favorite gnome Alchemist.

Heading south, hidden amid a copse of gnarled trees sits a large mausoleum of polished granite. Statues of weeping angels of green-tinged bronze flank the closed entrance. A tarnished silver doorplate on the black steel door reads, "Sarini."

Mr Peppers is trying to take notes on the plants while the gnome is busy stacking them onto the journal itself. "I appreciate your fervor Miss Cup, but I'm not going to press any of these in my books, nor am I going to trace them. Put them away in your pack and we can take more time with them back at the alchemist's shop."
After the plants are collected, Mr Peppers scans the area with Detect Magic, then moves on to the crypt doing the same while D sandblasts the mildew off the door.

Take 10 on craft (alchemy) for a 17 to collect the pretty flowers...
While Cup, Sirettis, and Peppers are looking at the garden's specimens from a naturalistic view, Gallix is busy selecting potential reagents. "Hmmm.... looks like they've planted some Cat's Eye flowers here... I could swear I heard something about this being useful for improving night vision. Better take some samples and check when we get back in town."
Before leaving the garden, Gallix checks around the gazebo for any hidden caches of Bile or for any hidden entrances below the structure.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
He then moves along with the others and approaches the mausoleum. His eyes drift toward the statues and a thought comes to mind, seemingly out of nowhere... Don't blink!
His mind quickly returns to the matter at hand, however, as D blasts the door with a barrage of sand. "Well, that might do it. I'll just hang out back here, shall I?" Gallix smiles broadly at D's forceful entry. I really do like this guy. He knows how to get to the point!
GM Red |
Sirettis, Mr. Peppers, Cup, and Gallix are able to gather just the right leaves and flowers. Ms. Pricknettle will surely be interested in their findings.
Gallix doesn't see any bile on the gazebo nor does he find any secret entrances into the estate, and Mr. Peppers finds the typical disappointing lack of magic in the area.
Unfortunately for D, the lock is an internal part of the door, and his sand bounces off the tough exterior.
As per these rules. If it's a lock that's been attached to a gate with a chain, for example, that would have worked. This lock is more akin to a bolt lock integrated within the door. Time to get out that wand of knock/Disable Device! Or the classic door smash, of course.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
The proverbial dust settles from D's sand-blasts, but the door remains locked and closed tight. With a furrowed brow, Gallix steps up. He reaches around to the underside of his pack and pulls a small leather tab that drops a thin canvas roll into the palm of his hand. He kneels in front of the door and unrolls the canvas, revealing a set of gleaming metallic instruments. Various picks, tiny hammers, and a few unusual corkscrew shaped objects lie arranged in perfect order with the roll, each on carefully secured with a pair of straps. Gallix looks at the mausoleum door's lock, then scans his tools, his hands hovering just a few inches above each one as he thinks about how to attempt the entry. He finally seems to settle on one of the picks and a tweezer-like device, then sets to work on the lock. "Wish me luck," he says as he inserts the tools into the lock, his tongue poking between his lips in a display of effort.

Watches on as his companion continues to seem befuddled by the locking mechanism.
"Is it time for a test of strength?"
GM Red |
I think I'd allow taking 20 on this.
Gallix toys with the lock for a few moments and manages to set the last tumbler in place with a soft click. The wings of the two angels flanking the doors suddenly unfurl outwards. They cut a small scratch across Gallix's shoulder, but his armor deflects the sharpest parts of the wings and the injury is minor.
Of course it's trapped: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 181d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The door creeks open to reveal two large stone coffins standing on a dais. The mausoleum is filled with dust and cobwebs, having been untouched for decades, and several more coffins lie on shelves built into the walls.
Mr. Peppers |
Mr Pepper's eyes go wide as Gallix finally gets the lock to give up "There MUST be some magic in here!" He exclaims excitedly as he casts his favorite detection spell, then pulls out his blasty wand just in case.
"Be careful, I don't think you need to be reminded of all the horrible things that can come out of a crypt!"
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Doh! Totally meant to check for that when I came over. Oh well. Got distracted by the timey-wimey-ness.
Gallix grabs at his shoulder in shock as the bronze wings scrape through his armor and cut him. "Ouch! Ugh...I guess I don't make much of a larcenist if I forget to check for traps before picking the lock. Anyway, thanks for the help, Cup. Let's head inside." He turns to Peppers as he begins to scan for magical auras, "Does that thing tell us if there's any kind of undead around?"
Cup |
Cup nods. "Eyes open, my friends." She pulls out a blanket and drapes it over her Unseen Servant so it might look like someone was under there. "Run ahead of us, will you?"
It only extends 20 pounds of force, but still might trigger traps or attract attackers if they can see it.
She casts ghost sound of footsteps, allowing the unseen servant to sound like gnome running under a blanket. She cannot resist adding a mournful "Boooooo-wooooo-wooooo" sound as well.
Mr. Peppers |
"Only if its magical!" Says Mr Peppers, his eyes glowing blue as he looks inside. Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Gallix makes sure to stand near the front of the group, determined not to miss any more potential hazards. He pulls his wayfinder from a pouch on his belt, opens the cover, and whispers the command word to activate the magical light inside, illuminating any dark corners of the mausoleum.
Perception (traps): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
GM Red |
Cup's Unseen Servant doesn't set off any traps, and as Gallix scans the area, he finds all of the coffins and the floor in the mausoleum to be void of anything dangerous, including undead shamblers and bile-infested insects.
This also means Mr. Peppers finds no magic. We really ought to run a magical adventure for him.
All of the coffins have their lids shut. There are two large ones on the dais and two smaller ones along the side shelves. What do you do?
Sirettis |
"Ah, I guess it was a simple mausoleum. Did you find anything, Mister Peppers?" Sirettis looks at the elf's frown and has her answer. "No point in disturbing the dead, is there?"
