Jaegar eyes the ghoul and hearkens back to his extensive tutelage on hunting monsters...
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21. What damages them? What attacks can they use to damage us?
Jaegar lets his arrow fly toward the assailant. He feels the words of inspiration from Verhaal focus his eyes to a clear path for his shot. At thjs range he feels more than ready to hunt these beasts! The arrow veers toward theribs of the attacker.
Jaegar has the Deadeye Bowman trait from Erastil allowing him to ignore one person (probably Vrald) that would provide cover.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
In his excitement, Jaegar ignored the stone wall to his right, and promptly loosed his arrow into the immediately adjacent obstacle.
First PBP attack is a fumble! This does not bode well.
GM Baerlie |
Three types: a zombie, a ghoul and two skeletons. Will post more information when I'm at home.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Baerlie |
Jaegar knows that the ghoul is immune to undead traits and can use bite or claws to damage you. It's special attacks are Disease (Ghoul Fever) and Paralysis.
The skeletons have damage reduction of 5 (except bludgeoning), they are immune to cold and undead traits. The War Chief has a mwk ivory greatclub, the Warlord has a mwk alchemical silver scitimar.
The Zombie has damage reduction of 5 (except slashing) and is immune to undead traits. He attacks with a longsword or slams. It is staggered but wears a bronze half-plate.
Sherrinford Hope |
Ghoul Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (9) + (3) + 8 = 20
Skeletons Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 8 = 15
Zombie Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + (1) + 8 = 15
I think they should all be passes (hopefully no CR 6 creatures here.)
Intentionally avoiding the combat, Sherrinford instead describes the strengths and weaknesses of each creature before the Pathfinders, in painstaking detail.
Assume the party now know the all the information the GM just posted.
Gilfroy Fezziwig PFS |
"Herbert! Slashing weapons like your kukri on that zombie!"
Herbert glances up at Gilfroy as the gnome slips into the room, nods, and brings both kukri in lethal arcs at the zombie. Sadly, both weapons miss as Herbert underestimates how much reach he needs. The half-orc ninja then does a quick roll to come up five feet further south out of the nasty flank.
GM Baerlie |
Jaegar shoots an arrow, but does not hit. Sharrinford stays back and tells his companions good tips how to deal with undead. Verhaal inspires her companions with a song about the Society's achievments in the past.
The warlord approaches Vrald and tries to hit him with his scitimar.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Gilfroy moves his illution in the room to be ready to attack one of the undead in the next round.
The war chief gets closer to Herbert. double move
I hope I did not forget somebody

Vrald Sehir |
I assume Vrald's AOO hit on the Warlod? 25 to hit, 7 damage.Note the +1 from the inspire courage!
I'm not 100% sure from the map, but I assume the one Vrald is facing is a skeleton? The next bit assumes that is the case. Ignore the change of weapon if it is a zombie or ghoul.
Vrald drops his sword and pulls the mace from his belt. "You can cut the flesh, but you have to break the bones!"
The knight then tries to do just that.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Kristen Mensbane |
Kristen will fire another tried-and-true magic missile at the undead creature marked "A".
magic missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
And the missile once again hits it right in its ugly face!
GM Baerlie |
AoO did 2 damage
Vrald attacks the skeleton in front of him but but is not able to hit it. Kristen's magic missile hits the warlord and kills it.
The bronze legionnaire slams at Herbert. Also the legionnaire thinks Herbert is real.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The Osirian Scarab Seer attacks Herbert again but this time he finds out that there is something strange going on.

Benjamin Milarch |
I would propose any party knowledge checks are automatically shared in combat or trap situations. Jaegar will certainly share any specifics he knows. I think in a PBP environment we need a few basic assumptions. Any objections?
Jaegar fires another arrow ar the Ghoul, knowing his piercing damage will have the greatest effect there.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Arrow Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Guaging his first shot into the wall adjacent him, Jaegar took significantly more care with the second.
Verhaal |
Verhaal nods to Sherrinford while singing. She aims to the ghoul and shoots the crossbow.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Notice I moved to have clear line of sight to the ghoul. If Jaegar and Sherrinford don't move a little to be in 30' of Verhaal, they will not receive the bonus this round.
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav |
Jaegar moves 6 squares due North (by compass rose) to accompany Verhaal, while maintaining line of sight to the Ghoul. He eyes the Osiriani Scarab Seer with contempt, and fires another arrow. The blessings of Old Deadeye allow him to ignore the foe in his path [trait]. With a crisp release, the air whistles faintly around Jaegar's projectile...
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
The tumult in the room and the faint mist cause Jaegar to fire errantly at the shadows surrounding the ghoul. Another redoubling of effort is clearly in order...
should I not post if it isn't my turn? I thought we were to post daily, and I don't want to miss my chances to participate...
Gilfroy Fezziwig PFS |
I'm waiting for Sherrinford's turn before closing the round. But I can take your post for the next turn if you like.
I didn't think I had posted for round 2, yet. If I have, then I'll wait to see what happens in round 3 before committing to any action.
GM Baerlie |
botting Sherrinford for round 2, he does what he did last round
Sherrinford keeps waiting until the combat is over, praparing to maybe heal his companions if needed. Verhaal shoots a crossbow bolt at the scarab seer, but does not do any damage. Gilfroy keeps up his illusion to keep the undead busy.
The war chief attacks Herbert with his greatclub and finds out Herbert is an illusion.

Vrald Sehir |
Vrald picks up his dropped sword and steps over to face the next undead, the one beating on Herbert. Move to pick up, and 5' step
"Come and pick on someone else and leave Herbert alone!"
I'm unsure if this is a skeleton or ghoul/zombie from the picture, using a mace if skeleton, sword otherwise
He then swings at the undead.
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Kristen Mensbane |
Kristen will step forward, pop a wand from a wrist sheath, and fire at the two undead nearest her (red triangle shows the carnage) I'm hoping that the picture is not actually representative of the creature that looks like it's on fire, but I'm pretty sure it's not.
burning hands, CL3: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) = 8 fire
DC 11 Reflex save for half.
GM Baerlie |
No, the skeleton is a normal skeleton, not burning.
Save Scarab Seer DC 11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Save War Chief DC 11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
After Vrald and Kristen took down two undeads, the remaining bronze legionnaire attacks Herbert again but after the second slam he is sure that Herbert is not real.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Disbelieve DC18 Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Interaction during slam
Jaegar's ranged attack is not successfull.

Osirian Scarab Seer C -18HP (ghoul) dead
Jaegar (ranged attack)
Sherrinford
Verhaal
Gilfroy
War Chief D (skeleton) -8HP dead
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav |
"Well done, Kristen! Now finish off that last Zombie!"
Confident his peers can effectively end the battle, and less confident his arrows can, Jaegar peers around the room, warily examining for further threats. He casts Detect Magic.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Verhaal |
With most of the undead taken down, Verhaal stops singing and drops de crossbow. She draws the rapier and moves quickly to support Vrald in the melee.
Finished the movement over what I think is a sarcophagus... not sure if I can do that without penalties. If I can't I'll finish it just one square down
Gilfroy Fezziwig PFS |
Since the zombie isn't buying it anymore, Herbert gives a wave, does a back flip, and vanishes in a shower of black confetti.
The others seem to have things well in hand, so Gilfroy moves to the door and keeps a look out.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
GM Baerlie |
Everything is calm outside, Gilfroy does not see any monsters.
Jaegar can't see any further threats in this room, but he finds a rare item: the Mwangi warrior clutches a bone-handled kukri with a jadecarved
blade in his hands. It is a masterwork blade with one unique quality: it deals normal damage and ignores the DR of the Tik Taan idols and of any creature following Angazhan.
I will wait for Sherrinford's turn until tomorrow and bot if he or she didn't post.
GM Baerlie |
Sherrinford is still waiting for the others to finish the remaining undead. Verhaal moves to a better position and preparse to hit the zombie. Gilfroy checks for other threats outside of the room.

Kristen Mensbane |
Kristen moves around a bookshelf to get a clear shot, then tosses a disrupt undead at the foul creature, hoping that between herself and her colleagues they can finish it off quickly.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 0 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 0 - 4 = 16 (-4 into melee combat)
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 positive energy
crit chance!: 1d20 + 0 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 0 - 4 = 3
crit damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
3 positive energy damage to the zombie.
Vrald Sehir |
Vrald continues to slash away at the zombie.
"Save your magic." he calls out.
"We'll probably need it later."
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 <= this may be a 16 from flanking.
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
GM Baerlie |
Vrald slashes at the zombie, but the half-plate armor is too strong. Kristen is able to harm the Zombie with her disrupt undead spell.
The bronze legionnaire slams at 1d2 ⇒ 1 Vrald.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Round 4
Vrald
Kristen
Bronze Legionnaire B -14HP (zombie)
Jaegar
Sherrinford
Verhaal
Gilfroy
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav |
Jaegar draws the kukri from the Tik Taan, and hustles to the Zombie. He draws the blade and moves behind Kristen with a chance to threaten the following round.
"How about we give them a taste of their own..... ahhh, nevermind."
The nasally whine of Jaegars voice piercies the mists, unsettling both the living and the dead.
Gilfroy Fezziwig PFS |
Gilfroy moves 20 feet northeast, just around that display case and hurls a spell at the zombie.
Acid Splash Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 4 = 6
Pink and blue acid flies across the room and over the zombie's head.
Sherrinford Hope |
Sherrinford remains out of the combat, knowing that his crossbow is unlikely to have any effect and all to aware of his lack of combat prowess. Instead he watches quietly as the others battle furiously, somewhat frustrated at his inability to aid them.
Kristen Mensbane |
Kristen hopes to finish off the nasty zombie with one more weak spell.
disrupt undead: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4 touch
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Unfortunately she fails miserably. :(
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav |
Jaegar slides to threaten the zombie, seeking to assist Vrald in his fracas.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 vs. DC 10.
Apparently the Tik Taan kukri is far too corrupted for the righteous inquisitor.
Another fumble! Yay two in the first combat.
GM Baerlie |
Kristen, Vrald and Jaegar are not able to get through the legionnaire's armor.
The bronze legionnaire slams at 1d2 ⇒ 2 Verhaal.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Kristen Mensbane |
"Whew! What a battle! If anyone needs healing, you may use my wand if you need it."
She offers up her wand of cure light wounds to those who need it, though she can't cast from it reliably herself.
I just realized I've been casting her spells as if she was level 1, but Kristen is actually level 2! If someone sees me posting just 1d4+1 for magic missile, make sure to correct me from now on. LOL
Kristen Mensbane |
Heh, you're totally right. I spaced. I think I have too many campaigns going on at once, after a couple of them finish up I think I'll reduce my number to about 3-4 at a time. LOL
