The power port on my laptop is broken and I can't fix it. I can't even get too it to fix it. I would have to disassemble the entire laptop to get to it. I don't anticipate any problems posting but wanted to let you all know in case I do an you don't here from me for awhile.

To determine how much HP you are down, total only the damage you took during the skellie fight and then divide it in half. So if you took 14 damage in the skeleton fight, you are 7 HP down from your max. Before the healing you will get from resting (1 HP/level, so 1).

so I took 21 damage during the fight with the skellies so that means I lost 11 hp. So I am sitting at 0 hp. wow good thing that doesn't kill me. Rale's heal will bring me up to 3 hp.

I am managing to nurse my laptop along. I hope to replace it soon.

Regarding Spontaneous Casting, RAW seems ambiguous on the amount healed. Is it 1d6 or 1d8+1. I've played both. Jelani, just let me know and I will heal everyone else.

I've got 3 HP out of 9 after that, I guess I'm not doing as bad as some. This is mostly due to lucky damage rolls though. That was a pretty tough fight.


Yeah, I normally like to save the seven-rounders for something more epic than some skeletons. In the end only one of you went into negatives, and seeing as I rolled three crits I think that's pretty good. The Wounds and Vigor rules were just not what I expected. They made it take forever for roughly the same results.

I ran this same encounter for my home game the other day. They only have three PCs, level one like you. We are using armor as DR and normal HP. I gave the skellies 8 HP instead of the 4 the module recommends. It went perfectly I think. Challenging but not too bad. Their oracle had on chain mail, so was able to tank quite well. Cost them a couple healing spells afterwards but it was all good.

Rale- Spontaneous casting allows you to replace a prepared spell with a cure X of the same level. So if you sacrifice a first level spell it becomes cure light wounds. Which cures 1d8+level (up to 5). I might point you towards extra channeling as a feat for future consideration. Channels are really useful for both healing and taking out undead, so it's always good to have more.

I am definitely getting extra channel, but was thinking Improved initiative first? Also, I know that this is far off, but would scribe scroll work okay in this campaign? (Wondering if there will be enough gp.)


Yeah, it should be fine. If you want to dedicate the time to making scrolls, it shouldn't be an issue. You'll be getting close to standard wealth by level so you should have the money.

So we need to search the room the skeletons were in and salvage anything useful and rest up so the casters can regain thier spells. Jelani do you think it would be possible for Tyr to salvage and repair the chain mail the skeletons were wearing. maybe only geting one or two sets of armor out of all six skeletons.

Two search the room and two set up camp. Rale will meditate right away to replenish spells in case of night attack. He is preparing create water, virtue and light. And also magic stone, hide from undead, CLW.

Come on level two, I need more spell slots.


Tyr - They are wearing chain shirts, not chainmail. If you have Craft (Armor) you can make a check against DC 14. I'll ignore the fact that you're out in the wilderness with no tools or smithy nearby.

"You can repair an item by making checks against the same DC that it took to make the item in the first place. The cost of repairing an item is one-fifth of the item's price."

So one fifth of its price in silver pieces is 200. Your average roll is going to be a 12. 12*14 = 168/7 = 24. You'd need like 9 days to get it done with average rolls.

Once you get back to town I'd let you use the broken armor as raw materials to craft something more advanced. It's just gonna take a long time with your level of skill. Also Craft (Armor) and Craft (Weapons) are separate skills.

I don't have craft(armor) and craft(weapons) only craft(blacksmith. it really isn't worth it trying to salvage the broken armor or repairing it.


Yeah, basically. What I was saying was, is that Craft (Blacksmith) isn't a skill. You could choose Armor or Weapons. Here are your options:

"The most common Craft skills are alchemy, armor, baskets, books, bows, calligraphy, carpentry, cloth, clothing, glass, jewelry, leather, locks, paintings, pottery, sculptures, ships, shoes, stonemasonry, traps, and weapons."

I suppose I could allow blacksmithing, but that would be things like pots, pans, horse shoes, candle holders etc.

hmmm hero lab lists it as a seperate craft skill. Pots and pans are generally made by tinkers not blacksmiths. horse shoes, plow parts, machine parts, decorative iron work, etc, anything made in a modern machine shop would be what a blacksmith would be making.

Tyr you can't make knowledge checks untrained if the DC is higher than 10. This time is fine, but in the future don't roll knowledge checks unless you have ranks in the skill.

I've been perusing some other pbps and I can't emphasize enough how fortunate I feel to be playing with this group of players and this GM. No egocentricity, arguments or abandoning is making this gaming experience quite engaging.

There's quite a few that don't work out. That's for sure. When people settle into a rhythm though, it can go pretty good. It happens enough so that people keep trying it.

I'm glad you guys are patient enough to let me scout. It can be hard to wait on someone to finish that sort of thing. It's also why I let you guys do most of the talking. It's good to spread the love.


Yeah, this group is good so far. PBP can be really slow, especially around the holidays. I'm pretty busy, but I try to keep things going at the fastest pace I can. Glad you're enjoying it.

So the black ghost didn't follow bruden out into the bug room so we could leave it alone and see where the stairs go or we could go back in and try to fight it. I think we need to kill it though because one of the keys we need is in that room.


We don't necessarily need to fight the ghost to get the key. Anybody got a grappling hook?

Bruden figured he had a shot at unlocking it without any key, and the dagger might be more valuable. I guess we will find out.

I don't know of any way to fix an ability drain besides restoration and I don't.get lesser restoration until 2nd level. I can cast daylight and channel but the thing gets to attack me each time, possibly doing some irreversible damage and we still have to continue.in the crypt. I can cast hide from undead on Malzuket and have him get key. I don't know how many times Jelani will let me meditate in one day, but if I cast magic weapon on Tyr's hammer, he would be deadly. What truly concerns me is that I cannot currently fix ability damages. That with cover and -2 says go the other way for now. Believe me, Rale wants to see this creature dispatched to hell.

If you want I can try and cast daylight on it, while someone sneaks the key. I'm not sure if disrupt undead will work on this thing.


I just meant, if for some reason the creature is bound to the room, we can try to retrieve the key by standing in the hallway and trying to snag it with the grappling hook.

As far as Bruden's ability damage (note--that's not as bad as ability drain), I believe you heal one point of ability damage per day of rest, two if you receive care from someone with the heal skill. I could be wrong, though.


I'd be willing to sneak in with hide from undead to get the key as well (at this point, though, Bruden hasn't told us about the key yet).

But if this thing isn't giving chase, I don't want to kick the hornets nest and pick a fight with him, you know?

Malzuket, I think that the grappling hook is a great idea, provided Bruden tells us about key and we determine that we need it.
