Background of Andrei Rogarvia:

Five background and concept elements important to Andrei Rogarvia.

1) Andrei Rogarvia is the illegitimate son of King Urzen Rogarvia. His bodyguard, Aurelia hid him away following the vanishing for fear that House Surtova would kill Andrei rather than allow a potential claimant to the Dragonscale Throne.
2) Andrei is outgoing and charismatic, with an easy laugh and kind heart, but a dark secret.
3) Ever since House Rogarvia disappeared eleven years ago, Andrei has dedicated his life to uncovering the reason their disappearance. This has become a gnawing obsession and if he ever uncovered a lead, it would be difficult not to follow it though no matter how dangerous it would be.
4) Although he would never admit it Andrei is secretly afraid that whatever was responsible for the disappearance of his kin will someday come for him as well.
5) Andrei hates House Surtova. He remembers how, as a boy how they assumed control over Brevoy after his house disappeared and he despises the seven noble families for how quick they turned their back on their previous loyalties. If given the opportunity to hurt House Surtova he would likely do so.

Two goals that are important to Andrei.

1) I would like to see Andrei eventually grow into his draconic heritage. I think that it would be cool that Andrei to eventually become a "Dragon Disciple". I'm not sure how much interaction with dragons happens in Kingmaker, but long term I think it would be great to develop Andrei as the second "coming" of Choral the Conqueror.
2) In line with my first goal, the second would be for Andrei to learn more about the fate of House Rogarvia and eventually find proof to establish his legitimacy as a heir of the Rogarvia line.

Two secrets about Andrei, one that he knows, and one that he not yet aware of.

1) Andrei has violent almost uncontrollable temper. He constantly has to strive to keep it in check and fights to keep it hidden between a calm exterior. What’s more he remembers once being told by his mother that the madness and greatness of House Rogarvia were but two sides of the same coin and that each time a new Rogarvia was born, the gods tossed the coin in the air and Brevoy would hold its breath to see how it would land.
2) What Andrei is not aware of is that his temper is a symptom of the blood that flows in his veins. His ancestor Choral the Conqueror was a dragon and that Andrei has inherited the curse of the Rogarvia bloodline.

Three people that are tied to Andrei.

1) Aurelia Ruvinov: Andrei’s aged protector and mentor, a former guard of House Rogarvia. Since the disappearance of his mother and father Aurela has dedicated what remains of her life to his protect him. Andrei has begun to suspect that Aurelia knows more about his family’s disappearance then she is willing to say.
2) Francos Harker: An retired thief turned tutor, Franco is the only person outside of Aurelia who knows the truth of Andrei. Franco was responsible for hiding Andrei and Aurelia following the vanishing eleven years ago. Franco is as much responsible for Andrei’s wayward education as Aurelia.
3) Elena Surtova: A minor noble of House Surtova with a perchance for gossip, Elena has recently crossed paths with Andrei and briefly recognized his face before he Andrei disappeared into a crowd. She has spent the last few weeks looking for him, knowing that she would be greatly rewarded by her house if she could uncover the truth behind Andrei.

Three memories, mannerisms or quirks Andrei possess.

1) Andrei's only remaining link to his family is a silver signet ring with crest of House Rogarvia inlayed into the seal. Andrei painstakingly cares for it and would be devastated if anything was to ever happen to it.
2) Based on an idealized image of his father, Andrei carries an Bastard Sword, much like the one his father Urzen would wield. During free moments, Andrei will sharpen the blade, smoothing out any knick in the blade or polish it to a mirror shine.
3) Andrei has become obsessed with the study of dragons and dragon-kin. Growing up, he would listen to the stories of Choral the Conqueror, and how he would command Red Dragons. Andrei knows this is nothing more than stories, but it hasn’t stopped him from becoming enchanted with the tales.

A little bit of background about me. I am a active poster on the boards, in several pbp's and I'm able to keep up with each. I have been playing Pathfinder/D&D for 15 years and doing pbp's for the last 8 months. I don't foresee any interruption in my posting and I am able to post once a day. I am all about team players, and I like to build my characters and concepts with teamwork in mind. I enjoy a lot of RP and seeing characters develop.

As for Andrei, he was built to be a Melee Bard, with support capability. I chose the Arcane Duelist archetype to reinforce his combat ability and I plan on eventually taking him into the Dragon Disciple prestige class. Between his skills, spells, Inspire Courage and combat ability he should be an excellent support melee character. Andrei is also intended to be a "face" for the group and he's quite decent at Intimidate and Diplomacy.

Thank you all for your considerations, and I hope to be able to join you in this upcoming Kingmaker campaign!

-Andrei

Thanks for the great applications.

Wonder how many we will get to choose from....

Given the highly sought after nature of Kingmaker campaigns, I would bet "a lot."

In other news, character is truly complete and ready for you to give a full review KenderKin. If you spot any errors (particularly in the quick stat reference in the class line you requested in your alias) please let me know.

Hi guys! I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as well. I'm a little concerned as my character looks relatively similar to Lucius in terms of build, but I guess we'll see what happens. I played a little bit of Kingmaker a couple years ago, but never got to play beyond a couple sessions of book one.

I'll get my character finished and posted tonight or tomorrow.

I submit Torod the Druid. He was part of another Kingmaker game that came to an early end.

History: Torod never knew his father and barely recalls his mother. When he was still a small child, Torod was given to a hermit to raise and never saw her again. The hermit recently passed and the wood no longer feels like home, so he left. He's decided it's time for him to see more of the world. Brevoy is where the Power of the World lead him to be.

Description:Torod is a dark skinned half elf with long black hair. As many druids are, he is at home in the wilderness and uncomfortable in a city. While he is quiet and polite, Torod is not fully competent with the social niceties. He has a birthmark that looks like a horned serpent over his heart.

*Nod* Despite a short-ish window for the applications I wouldn't be surprised to see double the amount of applications that there are right now. Kingmaker is *very* popular around here.

Current List of Once and Future Kingmaker Hopefuls! (v. 2)
Alright, so here is the updated list. Removed the "interested" section because interest is running so high and would be a lot of work to keep up with, and hey, we aren't voting on players, anyway, we're voting on characters :)

Characters are presented in the order submitted, after sorting for categories. Characters with sheets spoilered in the thread (rather than on an alias) are moved to the bottom of the category for my formatting sanity.

    DESCRIPTION
    --------------------
Wulfgars was born in Trollheim , Land of Linnorm Kings.
His father was a Ulfen Noble, that belonged to the PFS , but his mother , was a refugee from Brevoy who came to Trollheim to escape political ploting in her home country.
One summer , when he was twenty, Wulfgars left his home, with his family, when his father asked them to met him in Absalom.
During the journey thou, the caravan was attacked by strange goblins ( in a place where goblins usually don´t dwell), and everyone, except him, was killed.
Using the skills learned with his kin in his homeland, he chased down the attackers and killed the one that murdered his mother. He know wears those same Dogslicers that killed her, and are his signature mark weapons.
In grief, he started drinking a lot, while getting jobs as a guard and soldier in caravans, until he arrived in Absalom.
There, he learned that his father hadn´t come here for some years now, although he truly was a Pathfinder Society Hero, but more than ten years ago.
Lost and confused, he continued drinking.
Then came the day when Cayden Cailean intervined, and he,during a hangover outside a Inn, saved a Venture-Captain of the Pathfinder Society. It was an old friend of his father, and that man, and the God Cayden Cailean, saved his life that day, because of that incident , he got into the PFS, learning to better fight with The Swords.
That was where he has been for the last two years, going in missions around Absalom, especially those of the Lantern Lodge, with whom his father´s friend belonged , and from whom he received his strange looking armor, and "living the good life" his God talks about.
Then came the day when he was called by another VC, to go on a mission in Brevoy, specifically in the town of Restov, where he was to receive further instructions ,this was strange because he never worked with that man before, but , nevertheless , he went dutifully.
He came into the PFS Lodge in Restov and waited ....
Wulfgars, is at the forefront of the batlle , and takes the lead in combat, doing a prayer of thanks to Cayden Cailean, and singing a Ulfen battle song while he rushes unto his enemies with his Dogslicers in hand, defending his comrades…

Then sleep...then next day, human uses magics to make Tektik's leg all better, just like human says!

He not know what happens to them. Tektik looks around to try and finds out what happens to them, sees many kobold footprints. Only kobold footprints. He needs find out what happened to clutchmates, so must leave and find out.
Tektik never be by self before..not really...Tektik not know how dangerous world is! Tektik start finding good plants to eat and using tricks with his magics to get by. Makes big people hear things so can sneak in from other directions and take food. Need meat from somewhere! All time, look for what happened to clutchmates...but no have luck. But Tektik not give up! He has to find out truth! One day, Tektik hear big peoples talk about new place called 'Oleg's' where they get foods and things from! So Tektik decides maybe they be like first human and be nice to him, since theys been nice to others. Tektik hope maybe be someone who help find out what happened to clutchmates. So Tektik goes to Oleg-place now. He tired of living by self in woods and not knowing what happen to Longtooth tribe!

Divine (Clerics, Druids, Inquisitors, Oracles, Paladins & Rangers)

"I would present myself, Orodreth the outcast, to join this adventure. I have much skill dealing with bandits and the like... a past i wish to put behind me but skills I would use to further this this venture instead. A glance into my past and my current abilities will be granted if you must know. Simply ask me to 'show' you if you wish."

Appearance/Personality:
Orodreth wears a grey-green hooded cloak which seems to blend in
with the wilderness surroundings. The hood covers most of his long
white hair and his jade coloured eyes have a searching look.
With his newly acquired composite bow and quiver on his back as well
as an extremely rare elven curve blade he had also "acquired" at his
right side mostly hidden by the cloak, giving away his
left-handedness. Hidden under his sleeves, barely visible are wrist
sheaths concealing daggers. His arrogant demeanor shows he is capable
of anything, or at least he thinks he is.

Background:
Orodreth was born into a noble elf family from Kyonin. His parents
were always attending to important royal matters being the official
diplomats to the other races. With little direction Varus simply did
as he pleased, went where he pleased and made friends with almost
everyone.
Other races fascinated him and he became friends with two humans
who travelled through regularly as traders. They told him of the
riches far beyond any he could hope to get one day from his family.
Greed worked its way into his heart and before he knew it he was making
plans to start his own trading business to get rich. Using his
intelligent mind was easy and he was successful at first with some
help and guidance from his questionable friends. Accumulating
much wealth in a short amount of time.
Of course the way he was doing business caught the attention of others
and again, before he knew it he had his wealth taken away and was
disgraced for his scams. When his parents found out they disowned him.
He was banished forever from returning to Kyonin.
Having no where to live and no elven friends remaining, he left for
Brevoy where he would look for his so-called friends and ask for help.
After an uneventful trip he came to New Stetven but his friends were
not to be found. After several days trying to track them down he found
out they had recently put in prison for their illegal trade.
For the next 15 years he tried to buy and sell different wares,
anything he was able and that people would buy, he was quite skilled
at acquiring almost anything that a person might want, legal or not.
Of course the authorities caught up with him eventually and he was
sentences to three years in jail for various and sundry offences.
When he got out he was watched as closely as ever spent most of his
time outside the city in the wilderness and forests. He continued his
trade though and this time tried hard to keep on the lawful side but
the prospect of wealth often tripped him up. Fortunately his knowledge
of the wild helped him stay out of the hands of the law for a while.
Upon hearing of a call for pioneers and adventures to secure the
Stolen Lands he realised this adventure could be his saving grace, a
way to a new life on the right side of the law. Not to mention the
possibility of great wealth if such a venture was successful.
Perhaps this would atone for his earlier sins and he would be welcomed
home again as he often dreamed about.

"Surely you would not doubt the authenticity of my tale?"

Yikes, that's eighteen people already! ^^;

One of my votes is already committed: Ibuki Surtova.
The founding of a kingdom requires at least one person of stealth, and I'm a sucker for Ninjas. ;)

I am going to withdraw my application. I am already in three PbP games and will not have enough time for a fourth, despite how much I would like to join this one.

Have fun, everyone.

Alright, I stand corrected: seventeen people.

... And counting.

Wow that is a bunch of characters!

Sorry to see Hranos go the TN alignment and happy-go-lucky barbarian was thought provoking in alot of ways.
Enjoy your current games!

I was not on the list I just posted interested before. The build is not 100% finished but background and stuff is there, will finish build if selected.

Back to eighteen.

Let the games begin! I´m sure voting will take all weekend! 18 people is already a lot to look through and choose.

BTW Lem Bander, many of your links don´t work the way they are probably supposed to, but thanks for the work anyway, its a great help.

Yeah, voting will be tough. I already have changed mine three times in my head, but I think my current two are going to be hard to bump out on my list.

Also, if any of you know where I could find a collection of artwork to properly display as Valeria, I'd appreciate it. Google and yahoo searches turn up some...interesting...results. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to unsee some of that for weeks.

Yeah, you might want to try Deviantart, instead.

Be careful of copyright though on Deviantart, best contact the artist, tell them what you want to do and ask permission. Most should agree i guess, since its for their fame^^

That's weird; I checked the file I copy and pasted my post from and the links were fine. I wonder if there's some sort of link limit as an antispam measure that redirects any links over the limit harmlessly back to the original thread. If so, that's annoying in this case. :P

Wow! Sneak is wide open right now! I also wanted to mention that after reading through all of the backgrounds I am really impressed. There is a great group of characters here.

"A cold wind was blowing from the north, and it made the trees rustle like living things." —George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Timon Cantor:
Background: Timon Cantor was born beneath the brooding trees of Brevoy's greatest woodland, the Gronzi Forest, near the northern bank of the Steven River. His mother is a one-handed woman from New Steven called Lynna the Lighthanded, who left behind her city ways—and her life as a burglar—when she retired from the adventuring life to go live in her husband's home in the Gronzi. Timon's father a is trapper and hunter named Phildon Cantor, who serves as a sometime scout for House Medvyed, the noble family which holds title to much of the woodland.

The young man grew up hearing stories of his parents' adventures across the north of Avistan, but it was their loyalty to Rostland and their faith in Old Deadeye that spoke to him more clearly. The family is a rare one in the Gronzi for not following the Green Faith of House Medvyed, favoring the church of Erastil, particularly those teachings of the faith that encourage followers to bring civilization to the wildlands.

Now, grown restless on his family's isolated homestead and having learned all he is likely to from his beloved parents, Timon has answered the call of the swordlords to tame the Stolen Lands. His new life is just beginning.

Physical appearance and Personality: Timon Cantor is a broad faced, open minded young man with shaggy brown hair and pale blue eyes. He is of middling height, but has the breadth of shoulder and quick gestures of an strong and experienced woodsman. He is loyal to his family, to the Church of Erastil, to Rostland, and then to Brevoy, in that order. He is quick to make friends and enemies both, with some of the impulsiveness of youth still clinging to him. His sense of humor runs to practical jokes and good-natured insults, but he is serious and thoughtful when the situation demands it.

Character sheet information may be found in Timon's profile.

A true rogue application! There goes the neighborhood...lol

Haha Valeria! True enough, but it's a great application. Solid background and I like the little details like Timons mother.

An immense stallion gallops towards the Stolen Lands, crashing through the tall grass on the plains of Rostland. His hooves thunder on the earth, throwing sprays of dirt in the air as he curves around hills and banks. He hurdles over fallen logs and shallow streams in his haste, seeming to hang in the air like some great soaring bird before crashing mightily back into a run on the other side. This is Heptamegistos, prince of horses, and he races to the south to confront his destiny.

Clinging to the saddle on his back is his rider, an exhausted young woman with a lean and wiry look, dwarfed by the warhorse’s great frame. Her glaucous eyes watch the ground fly beneath them, or stray unfocused when she raises her head. She trusts the stallion to choose their path, through the wilderness as through life. She is Oracle to the Mystery that birthed him, and is her destiny to help him fulfill his.

Please consider this character, Jennet Halfgait, as your companion in Kenderkin’s Once and Future Kingmaker campaign. She and her animal companion Heptamegistos should be enormously helpful, and I hope you’ll find their story interesting too. Click her portrait for her full stats and background, and [link=here for his]http://paizo.com/people/Heptamegistos[/link].

That's twenty. ^^; Oh dear, oh dear... So many good people to choose from...

With every new application, I feel my likelihood of being voted in slip away. *sad face*

Wow! Just wow.

Lots of interest!

I am impressed, I also know that these opportunities come along fairly rarely, I do not see starting another game after this one until maybe 2014.

Don't suppose we can persuade you to limit the election pool to twenty? :p At least then we all have a chance of, what, one in three? A bit less? *seriously bad at math*

I could close this thread in 8 hours my time, which is officially Friday.

Ok so 8 hours from now we make a final tally of people Someone please do that final list on this page

Take that final list copy/paste and mark your votes with an * and private message it to me as your vote.

Good luck to everyone!

Hey Kender, what are your thoughts about raising the amount of votes each person gets from 2 to 3? There's alot of great characters here, and It might spread out the votes a little more.

Btw I love the synergy you managed to create with your Animal companion Jennet. I was sad not to see how Huntsmaster and Eye for Talent played out with Heptamegistos.

"I think we need some competitions!
Archery competition,
Stealth competition,
Fighting competition,
Casting competition,
Diplomacy competition.

And you can enter as many competitions as you like."

Orodreth whips out his bow and fires at an unknown target around 60 ft. away in less than a breath.
To hit target dummy: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
the dummies head gets impaled
"Not bad."
Orodreth looks around.

Thanks! I promise to reveal those parts of their background and more if I make it in the game. :) Though if you need another fix before the game starts, I just posted a background for Heptamegistos that you might enjoy.

I just hope everyone’s as diligent about reading the entries as you are...coming in so late, I’m afraid people will make up their minds early in the submissions.

You could also benefit from the opposite side, as recent submissions tend to be more memorable than earlier ones, which are in turn more memorable than submissions more in the middle.

And like any election, name recognition counts for significant points as well, in ways that are both subtle and obvious.

Also, bribes. Hint hint.

I've regretfully decided... to change one Hex. ;) (No way I'd give up a shot at this ap, heh.) Instead of Prehensile Hair, Asta is now sporting the Healing Hex.

In addition, I've added her character's looks to the profile. Feel free to have a look, if you like. ^^

I think that's true to a degree. What's hard for me is I want to pick "roles" i.e. the face, healer, tank, support and the like... But with only two votes I'm really agonizing over what to put my votes towards. Regardless I think it's going to be tough on everyone.

I was of course counting the private message from each person as a vote for themselves.

If anyone want to cast an honorable mention in their vote I will use it in the event of a tie.

Can we already vote or send you private messages? I thought that would only be up after closing?

Yes, I have that problem too, so I will probably weight more heavily which characters seem to be the most interesting to play alongside. This kind of process tends to reward voting blocs since all that's needed is a fifth-place plurality or better, so (provided it isn't against the spirit of the vote, of course) it might be worthwhile to get a group of like-minded people together ahead of time to figure out how to spend those votes. I feel like this might be kind of shady, though.

And remember, a vote for Damen is a vote for progress! I will support those things everybody loves and oppose the stuff everybody hates!

I've kinda been in the same boat as Damen, leaning towards characters that would be fun RP with Valeria. I find RP compatability to be more fun than requiring X group make up.

I'm all about fun PbP is my only outlet dor RP. I can post often and love to play well with other. thank you your friendly neighborhood cleric

I'll be back to my computer at about 10 pm PST tonight, so if no one's posted the final version of the list by then, I'll get on that. :)

Kender, how long is the voting period, btw?

This is a straight copy and paste of Lem Bander's last applicant list, with additions and withdrawals taken into account. It's stripped of HTML/BB code, though--the links seemed to be wonky anyways.

As of this typing, the applicants are:

----------

Sneak (Rogues & Ninjas)

• Ibuki Surtova - CG Sylph Ninja
• Timon Cantor - NG Human Rogue (Scout)

And now the campaign ad. ;) Timon's player (that's me, Christopher) is a veteran of decades of role-playing. I'm a passionate fan of Pathfinder and of the world of Golarion and I'm committed to frequent posting and the magical act of collaborative storytelling.

Timon is a team player, a solid combatant, a skilled scout, and a true friend.

If I could embed a song into this post it would be David Bowie's "Heroes."

Cheers, and best of luck to you all!

Well good luck everyone. :)
Hope I'm able to get to play with some for you.
Probly take me all night to read all these :p

Just to say, most of the rangers should be pretty sneaky too, especially since they are DEX focussed archer builds.
I think we are all here for roleplaying, but tastes can be very different on this topic. What some consider nice and funny is weird for others and vice versa. Unfortunately the game has some mechanics which kind of force roles sometimes and you kind of decide the direction you go with choosing a class i think. Roleplaying is best when you make the stats and the play meet in harmony^^

Agree 100%

I definitely had the same reaction.

On reflection, though, maybe we should have to show some kind of aptitude for political maneuvering to secure a space in a Kingmaker game.

Excuse me while I go start a dark money group.

I edited Damen somewhat, mostly in his background to make it a little more entertaining. Anybody who'd read it previously may wish to review it.

Dark money? Tektik not knows what is dark money. Caves is dark. Is maybe money used in caves?
