Domingo Santana |
Dom growls and takes aim at one of the zombies.
M4: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Alisha Quinn |
Rachael tries to use her Exploit Weakness on a zombie
Exploit weakness: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
And fails to get an intelligent angle to better her chances. She just takes a shot at the head as normal.
Head Shot: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9
And the bullet goes wide and hits yet another tree.
Xannder |
Xannder switches targets to one of the close zombies aiming for the head.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 - 5 = 20
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 - 5 = 6
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
The bullet goes clean through the creatures skull.
Roy MacArran |
Thanks. May use that.
Not wanting to pull his knife just yet, Roy takes a step back from the zombie and fires another round from the Python.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 - 5 = 14
The magnum round slams through the creature's face and blows its brain and skull backwards. Roy exhales slowly and sights the next of the undead.
Domingo Santana |
Dom curses and backs up a few steps. Within Point Blank Range He then aims for the head.
Head Shot: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 - 5 = 17
Damage: 2d10 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
"Damn, I hate these things!"
He then yells down to the knight.
"Hey, whenever you're ready, pal! No pressure or anything!"
DireMerc |
Alisha fires at a zombie as well but misses.
Gonna fast forward a bit.
"If I get too close to you more may head your way, with the skeletons gone they aren't being controlled anymore and are just mindless hunters. I will stay here and keep their attention, destroy them from a distance! shouts the knight.
The skeletons retreat and with the help of the knight you manage to destroy the entire group.
He heads over to you. His armor is bent and places and he is bleeding from a dozen bite wounds.
"I owe you my thanks, without your help I might have fallen here."he says in a strangely casual tone while breathing heavily.
Domingo Santana |
"You're welcome," Dom says a bit distantly.
Knowledge Arcane Lore (For zombies, bites in particular): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Huh, well.
He then huddles with his team.
"I've only ever killed Zombies, Roy. Don't know much about 'em in general. You know anything about their bites?" Dom asks not quite putting his weapon down.
"I'm guessing it's probably not like the movies, else the whole world be screwed, but I really wouldn't know. And you, Alisha, any thoughts?"
DireMerc |
"Their bites carry a disease that turns you into one of their own if you die while infected. Other than that it does no real harm, some fever and sickness. Worry not about me for I am immune to the disease."says the knight.
"I am Sir Urik, and he" he points to the raven as it flies overhead "is my companion Bartram. I am a knight of the Raven, pleased to meet you."
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha gives a nod to Sir Urik and decides to humor him a bit seeing his dress marks as him as someone of another time. She says, "Your skills in battle are quite impressive sir knight. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Alisha Quinn, learned scholar and aspiring hunter of monsters. Do you oppose the foul vampire lord who rules the castle? For he has brought great evil upon this land and taken a fair maiden prisoner. We are on a quest to find the Fanes that the vampire draws a great deal of strength from in order to weaken him enough so that he can be slain. Your aid on our quest would be most appreciated."
Roy MacArran |
Knowledge (Arcane Lore): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Roy shrugs and then nods at the knight's words. "Sounds right to me. Know the bites hurt like hell, too." He turns to the warrior and holsters his Python, listening to the exchange between Alisha and the knight.
"Look, 'good sir knight,' I hate to bear bad news, but you're not home anymore. At least, I don't think you are." Roy picks up the Remington and gestures to it. "Ever seen one of these? Or are you just some nut who gets off dressing up in a tin can and picking fights with the supernatural?"
DireMerc |
"I....I am aware that the vampire transported the castle to a new location that is unfamiliar to me. For some reason my memory was affected as well. I can remember certain things and others are gone...I remember my army had surrounded the castle, the vampire's defeat was imminent...I used a secret passage to get inside ahead of my men to try and slay the vampire myself and I was the only one inside the castle when his foul spell went off and brought us here...I tried to finish the job but failed and just barely managed to escape with my life...Since then his minions have hunted me relentlessly..."
Domingo Santana |
"Well, I'm sorry to hear about that," Dom said earnestly.
He turned to Alisha.
"Why don't you call up the Feds on that spiffy new walkie-talkie we got. I think this needs to be shared."
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha says to Sir Urik, "I do not know where you came from but it is possible that you have undergone a form of dimensional travel. This is the world known as "Earth", a place of advanced technology and growing science. Monsters are rather uncommon and most people are ignorant of their existence. Humanity is the most prevalent species on the planet here and any monsters that do exist are either descendants of those who first came here or new arrivals from other dimensions. One thing you will notice here is that Magic in this world is much weaker and rarer than where you likey came from. I myself am a scholar of Arcane Lore and even I cannot cast a single spell, although I am hoping to learn how to do it eventually."
Domingo Santana |
"Roy, I think we can give up on any pretense of this being a normal case. Normally we find the problem, figure out how to kill it, do the deed and go get drunk. And all while trying to stay under the radar."
"I don't trust Department 7 as far as I can throw 'em, and you know that. And with more than ample cause. And assuming we get this worked out, I'm sure we'll be right back to the status quo. But like it or not, we're all in this together. And if nothing else we need to protect Dip-sh*t Seven from themselves. So, yeah, we need to stop treating them like the enemy, at least for now."
DireMerc |
"I'm afraid little of that made sense but I understand your urgency to act. The vampires appearance in your lands is not a good thing. If you are lucky we can stop him before we destroys more than half the county like he did mine. The death toll to stop him once was in the thousands I would hate to have to start over. We must strike before he can rebuild his undead army. Howver it may be best that you act whitout me. The vampire has some of my blood and he can use it to track my location at any time with his magic. If I travel with you I would be putting you in greater danger. It might be best that I act as a diversion while you continue on your current path. says the knight
Domingo Santana |
Sorry, I haven't responded sooner. But, yes, we're contacting the Feds.
"Normally, I'd try to stop you. But there's just a little too much crazy going on and we're neck deep in it."
Dom points back to the car.
"Follow that road opposite from where we came. That'll bring you to a town if you need it. Good luck."
Dom then took the walkie-talkie from Alisha and then sighed.
"Man, the Feds are never gonna buy this from me -- Yo, Ash! Come in! This is Dom. I got a weird update for you."
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha hands over the Walkie talkie, letting Dom do his charm over the radio. Alisha says to sir Urik. "That sounds like a sound plan. You could draw off the undead from us, lead them on a chase and keep the vampire's attention on you and hopefully leaving the next Fane with less defences so we can claim it."
DireMerc |
If only I could...I will make my way to this town and seek a temple perhaps the cleric there can heal me and I can rest. says Sir Urik
The radio crackles. "Dom? Whats going on? We have a situation of our own here. Were being hunted by something that moves so fast we cant even see it...It hasn't killed anyone yet but we have lots of wounded I think it's toying with us." says Ashley
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha says to Sir Urik, "I am afraid that in this world the church is not a magical place where divine miracles happen. The largest religion in this world is a faith in an all-powerful creator of the universe called "God" served by a host of angels although there is numerous other faiths as well. But I have yet to see a church in this world that can mend broken bones, cure blindness, remove disease or raise the dead. Our place of healing is called a "Hospital" and even healing takes treatment, medicine and whole lot of bed rest. I am afraid that getting a quick fix for your injuries is not in the realm of possibility."
Domingo Santana |
Any chance Dom knows what Ash is fighting?
Arcane Lore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
DireMerc |
"That's a shame, still a holy place should offer me some respite. It is odd, I only vaguely remember my goddess from my world but I can still feel her power surging trough me. I can still call upon her power to smite my foes or heal my injuries." says the knight.
"It's Kraven the hunter, he's one of the two most powerful agents of the dark lord. A vampire barbarian imbued with magical speed that made him faster than normal and he was already faster than most before that, he's also immune to the effects of sunlight. He enjoys the hunt more than anything and will always seek out the strongest foes in order to test himself. Your only hope is to find a confined space to limit his movements. explains the knight after hearing the conversation on the radio.
Domingo Santana |
Dom explains to Ashley what the Knight had told them about Kraven.
"The waterfall is probably a good idea. We'll check in after we've handled our mission and back you up, if needs be."
Unless, there's anything else, we should probably press on.
DireMerc |
"Goodbye friends, best of luck to you." says Sir Urik and he starts walking towards the town.
You get back into your vehicles and drive up into the mountain. The road comes to a stop partway up the mountain when you reach a bridge that has been destroyed. The gap is about 20 feet across and the current seems strong.
Domingo Santana |
"Yeah, it looks like. Don't suppose anyone here brought a rope?"
Dom doesn't bother waiting for a reply, before wading in the water.
Swim: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha looks at the pool of water and says, "I will not be swimming with my gear on me. My electronic equipment is not exactly waterproof. Give me a moment to prepare."
Alisha takes off her backpack and her jacket. She then places most of her gear in the trunk of her car and locks it. She keeps only her car keys, a pocket knife and a pistol. She goes into the water and starts wading and swimming if needed.
DireMerc |
Dom manages to fight the current and while he makes no progress getting across he manages to stay put. Alisha on the other hand is caught of guard by the strong current finds herself being pulled under the water and goes downstream 30 feet.
Swim dc 15, if you fail by 5 or more you get pulled by the current. If you succeed you can move half your speed in any direction. Just FYI this is a river that flows down the side of a mountain, lucky for you the waterfall is upstream from here.
Domingo Santana |
Dom notices Alisha get dragged away by the current and nearly lets himself get swept up as well to help her. But then he figures he needs to trust her a bit. Besides, he can help her better on land.
"Keep at it, girl! We'll help you in a bit!" he yelled before buckling down and continuing to cross the river.
Swim: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Swim: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
He crosses to the shore and immediately tries to spot a branch or vine he can throw in to help Alisha.
Spot: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
If that's enough, GM, I want to use it to help Alisha.
Roy MacArran |
Roy makes sure the guns in his holsters are secure and reties his bandana on his head with his cell phone inside. Sighing, he accepts that his range pack will get wet or he'll leave his gear behind. [i]Really have to buy a waterproof bag.[/ooc]
Swim: 1d20 ⇒ 7
The pack weighs him down more than expected, however, and Roy quickly flounders.
Swim: 1d20 ⇒ 1
DireMerc |
Took Dom 2 rounds to get to the other side. Going to wait for Alisha to post her turn and now there is the problem that Roy is sinking as well and gets dragged 60 feet downstream.
Unfortunately there are some rocks about 90 feet downstream and if you fail a swim check down there your're gonna start taking some damage.
So recap...
Round 1:
-Dom jumps in and manages to stay put.
-Alisha jumps in and gets pulled down. (30 feet)
-Roy jumps in and gets pulled down. (30 feet)
Round 2:
-Dom swims for the other side moves 15 across
-Roy gets pulled further down. (60 feet)
-Alisha -> Needs another swim check
Round 3:
-Dom makes it to the other side.
Alisha Quinn |
Alisha keeps swimming down stream as best she can although the currents are still pushing her hard down the river.
Swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Alisha tries again but once again gets pushed further down river. She gives up trying to move forward and pulls herself ashore on her side of the river. They'll need another plan it seems to get across this raging river.
She moves back to where Dom soaking wet and yells from the other side of the river "Maybe we can tie down a rope. The river's too strong to be swimming across."
Xannder |
Xannder is no stranger to wading in water, but decides not to risk his main weapon. He carries his pistol and one first aid kit with him.
Swim: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Xannder hops in and gets pulled by the current.
Swim 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
He is able to compensate and continue crossing the river.
Swim 3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
The current is stronger here than he expected and he gets pulled again.
Swim 4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Once again he is able to swim true and makes it to the other side.
Swim 5: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
He quickly pulls himself out of the water and attempts to help Dom.
Hold on Roy, we'll find something to grab you.
Spot Assist: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
