My last action was to try to spot a branch or something to see if I could help Alisha. Did that turn up anything?


You can find some branches but none that would be of much use. She is out of the water now.


Roy begins checking over his weapons and other gear, hoping the water didn't ruin everything. He also takes the moment to reload his weapons.

Repair: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Not sure that's the proper skill, but it's the best I've got.

"Dom, I don't have rope, but I've got a roll of duct tape in the bag. We could unroll it, toss it to her, pull her in. It's strong stuff."

Alisha says, "Well I certainly am not going to try swimming again. The current is far too strong to swim against and I am not looking forward to drowning in a raging river. Indeed some kind of rope, branch or other kind of way to pull me across would be the best choice."

"Good idea. I think I saw something like that on Mythbusters."

Between the two of them, they manage to quickly put together a crude rope by twisting the length as the unrolled it.

I got an extra roll if needs be.

When they finish up they toss an end to Alisha.


It takes a bit of work but you manage to get Alisha across.

"Well that was bracing," Dom said as he pulled off his shirt and wrung out the water.

He redressed and began to walk.

"Let's not waste the daylight."

Alisha soaking wet gets across the river, "That was a jarring experience. I just hope its easier going back. Yes let us proceed to the task at hand."


You continue on and looking up the hill and you see a very old partially collapsed ruin up the hill. The way is mostly blocked by step cliff but there is a small path that goes up there.

spot Alisha: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

As you head up Dom is just about to step on something buried in leaves when Roy and Xannder notice and stop. You check what it is and find a beartrap.

You wonder the implication when you hear a gunshot and Xannder is hit.

Looking up into the hills you see a sniper on the high-ground and a pack of wolves is coming down towards you.

Roy immediately drops to the ground, raising his rifle. There you are. He grins a little under his bandana as he takes the shot.
So Roy's gone prone, giving him a +4 to AC against ranged attacks (although a -4 against melee) without a penalty to his own shot.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Action Point: 1d6 ⇒ 3 For good measure. Attack total 19.
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6


Female Human Marksman

Alisha pulls her gun and takes a shot at one of the wolves putting effort into the attack (With an Action point).

Action Point: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Gun Shot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
So a total of 14 to hit
damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7


Both attacks hit their mark. wolf is at around 50% hp.

Sniper you cant really tell.

Dom drops down as well, removing his own rifle.

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Snipers!"

Action Point: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Total of 16 to hit. 12 AP left.

He fires at the wounded wolf.


"The Holy Family can wait for a moment, Dom, I've got him picked out," Roy mutters.


Dom finishes off the wounded wolf and Xannder hits the ground as well, he grabs his m16 and takes aim at the sniper and fires a shot but it goes wide and misses.

The wolves makes their way down the path (the wolves all double move) while the sniper sets himself at the edge of the cliff and fires a shot at Roy just barely missing him.

Roy works the bolt and takes another shot at the sniper, counting on the others to keep the wolves off of him.

Xannder looks at his wound and has a brief flashback. He tries to grit through the pain as he fires off another shot.

Alisha hits the closest wolf and Roy manages another hit on the sniper.

Xannder misses the sniper don't forget you have action point

And Dom takes down the closest wolf.

The remaining wolves attack going for Dom who is closest.

The sniper decides to pack up and retreat moving back from the cliff so you no longer see him.


Roy curses as the sniper hightails it, rolls onto his side, and draws his Python, firing at the nearest wolf.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Between his positioning, his anger, and his haste, the shot goes wide.

Alisha takes aim and shoots one of the wolves attacking Domingo.

Dom fends off one of the wolves by swinging his arms wildly, but another bites down hard into his arm. He screamed, dropped his rifle, reached for his machete and then tried to thwack the crazed animal.

Machete: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6 The (-4) is for attacking while prone.
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

HP 4/13. Man, that could not have gone down any worse. Even with an action point, there's just no way.

Xannder takes a shot at one of the wolves really wanting to kill the sniper's pets.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

If I was rolling anywhere near decent to begin with I would burn action points.


Both your missed attack could have hit with an action point. Also yeah that was a pretty bad round for you guys.

Alisha hits one of the wolves, everyone else misses this round.

The wolves continue their attack on Dom taking advantage of his vulnerability.

One of the wolves nips at Dom distracting him while the other goes for the throat.

Alisha keeps shooting bullets into the wounded wolf. While Dom was in trouble it was more important to put the wolves down before they could do any extra harm to him. She attempts to exploit the weakness on the distracted wolf and then shoot him.

Fail on the Exploit Weakness (As its base DC 15, uses up my move action)

Unfortunately Alisha fails to exploit this weakness. Instead she relies on pure accuracy and pulls the trigger of her gun.

Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Roy pushes himself to his feet and fires again with his revolver, aiming for the uninjured wolf. "Norm, take the wounded one!"
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Action Point: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Total 17 to confirm, I'm guessing that's good enough.

Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 5) = 20
And hopefully that's a very dead wolf.

Xannder sees Dom go Limp and fires another shot at the wolf.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Regardless of whether the wolf is there or not, Dom needs help and Xannder begins to move towards him.


Again using an action point could have ended it right there.

The remaining wolf attacks Xannder gnawing at his leg.

attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

wolf has ac 14 and 1 hp.


Roy shoots once more.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 1 = 7

He holds the smoking gun forward for a moment more before dropping his arm and crouching next to Dom. "Hold on," he murmurs as he pulls out a first aid kit from his pack. "Norms, you know how to do this?" He glances up at Alisha and Xannder, hesitant to actually apply care to the wounds. Been a while since I learned this.


As a note when you kill the wolves they fade away and vanish as they die.

Alisha says, "I have some basic first aid training but I would not call myself a doctor. Still I shall do what I can to help."

Alisha first looks around to see the coast is safe

Not seeing any immediate threats she heads over to use medkit to patch up Domingo and hopefully stop the bleeding.

I only have a first aid kit, so I guess I can't restore Hit Points. If we ever manage to get a medical kit, I may be able to actually use some of my abilities.


Roy shakes his head as the others work to patch up his friend. "Dammit." He pulls his bandana down, revealing his deep scowl. "How bad is he? Doesn't look good." He shakes his head and absently begins reloading his revolver and rifle. "Dammit. We can't afford to rest."

Amanda says, "He is pretty dam bad. Those bite wounds are deep and serious. He won't recover more than he is without a good deal of bed rest and ongoing treatment. We either put him somewhere safe or we move him back to the car and stow him there. He is stable enough to move at least"

"No, that river was hell enough the first time. We can't take him back across." Roy finishes reloading his revolver and slides it back into its holster. "We'll need to get him somewhere safe, but I don't want to move him until we know where we're going. You two stay here with Dom, I'll scout around. That sniper probably has a shack or something up here." Roy lifts his rifle and looks up the hill toward where the shooter was. "I'll deal with him and we'll get Dom to a safe point."

Don't really like splitting the party, but it's not a really bad idea...

This is true I have been considering this issue for a bit and my plan was to provide you with some magical healing when I got the chance. As it is you don't have enough downtime to heal fully between battles you should also consider a surgery kit and lots of ranks in treat injury.
