EDGES
- - - - -
Duelist: Roy's done a lot of shooting in his time, and in many circumstances, but never is he more dangerous than in a one-on-one showdown. During a duel, he receives an extra hole card for each point of Grit he has.
Level Headed: Roy was once a lightning draw, snapping his gun up to fire in the blink of an eye. He's lost some of that edge thanks to age, booze, and disuse, but it ain't all gone. He may not be as fast as he was, but staring down death a thousand times has made Roy cool as a cucumber in a fight. Whenever he's dealt cards for Initiative, he gets two cards and uses the better.
Quick Draw: Roy never claimed to be the fastest gun in the West, but plenty of other folks have said it. A few of 'em tested it and got a permanent home in Boot Hill for their trouble. Roy doesn't suffer a multi-action penalty for drawing a weapon, and if he has to roll to draw it he gets a +2 bonus. It also comes in handy in a duel.
True Grit: All it takes is one look at Roy's eyes to see that he's all piss and vinegar, with gravel in his guts and ice in his blood. He's killed as many men as some folks will know in their whole lives, and even if he spends his days drinking to forget what he's seen and done, it's always there. He has +1 Grit compared to an average character.

HINDRANCES
- - - - -
Ailin' (Minor): Roy knows he's in the evening of his life, but he doesn't yet suspect that his time can be measured closer in weeks than years. Years of hard living and drinking have taken their toll, and his body's starting to fail--most powerfully in his liver. Roy just feels kinda tired: he suffers a -1 penalty to Fatigue rolls made to resist physical exertion. There's also a chance that things will turn for the worse.
Elderly (Major): Roy's no spring lamb. He's the type who seems to have seen it all, done it all, and come out alive... although the worse for wear. His Pace is reduced by 1, and he can never increase his Strength or Vigor. The wisdom of age has granted him knowledge, though: he spent 5 extra points on Smarts-based skills.
Forsaken (Special): Roy's done some bad things in his time, and somewhere along the way he pissed off the spirits, or maybe he just plain used up all his fortune. Beneficial miracles and tribal medicine don't work on him, although less pleasant types of magic do just fine.
Grim Servant o' Death (Major): Seems some days like the only thing Roy's done well in his years is killing. He started young, and although he tries to stay out of trouble these days, it always comes to find him. He's just too good at the job for it to let him go. He deals +1 damage with any and every attack, but on a 1 on the skill roll, that attack winds up hurting someone he considers an ally instead of its target. There's a reason they called him the Sorrow of the West.
Habit (Minor)--Alcohol: It's part of how he copes with what he's experienced in his time. He doesn't let it get out of hand (usually), but that's mainly because he has a drink in hand as often as he can. In addition to the obvious effects, Roy's drinking gives him a -1 penalty to Charisma.
