Hello, fellow Paizonauts.

We are re-opening recruitment for this game after a player has disappeared.

Looking for a player, before worrying about a character.

The focus so far has been on roleplay and the pace had been meandering.

You will be joining the game two-thirds of the way through book one.

The position of the game means that whoever joins will have to play as a helpful NPC - a taciturn elven ranger called Shalelu Andosona - for the duration of an upcoming trek into the woods to find a goblin camp.

After that, you will have a chance to create a character of your own.

This seems like a great chance to get to know a party, and a GM, before choosing a character.

Creation rules, for when the time comes:

Level: Same as rest of party.

Wealth: Average for class - buy starting (1st level) gear and then we will work out something of a similar power to the rest of the party.

Point buy: 20-point build

Hit Points: Max at first level; roll 1 + con modifier each level after 1st and take the highest, minimum of half + 1.

Traits: 2 + 1 campaign specific (only Campaign traits from Rise of the Runelords)

Drawback: 1 to receive an additional trait.

Classes: Any paizo, Unchained allowed (unchained summoner required). No 3rd party, No psionics, No Path of War, No exceptions.

Races: Core, Featured, and Uncommon are allowed. Non-core at GM discretion.

Skills: Background skills from unchained will be used.

Schedule: 1 post per week at minimum, I would like to pick up the pace in the new year but we will see.

Mapping: Google Slides will be used to map combat encounters where appropriate. Otherwise this is a PbP game.

Craft: Crafting will be allowed AFTER the adventure begins. There will be downtime.

Alignment: Any Good.

If you have questions, please ask.

I'd love to play the female elven ranger. I had a fun time RPing as her for my face to face group when I ran the first book several years back (we decided to swap to a different AP, as the group was looking for something a little more unique) and sadly we never went back to it while we played, so I've never gotten further than book 1

Would I use her stats from the book?

Hi rorek55.

That's just about perfect.

I'm putting together a lvl3 version of Shalelu to match the party. Otherwise throwing in a level 6 character seems a bit unfun for the rest of the group.

If you'd rather build her then I am happy with that.
She can be either ranger3 or ranger2/fighter1.

To work with established art and lore, she needs to have a longbow and maxed-out survival but the rest is up to you: use the creation rules above.

If you're happy with that then I'll close recruitment.

Oh, and she needs favoured enemy goblinoid.

damn. I’ve been lurking this campaign for a bit. Solid game, solid group of players. Kudos.

Silver Crusade

I'll tinker around, though your build looks fine for her. only real difference I think I would do would be to possibly take a level of fighter and pick up a few more "special" arrow types.

The level discrepancy was why I asked about it haha.

Silver Crusade

Here, how is this? I swapped the stats around a little bit, and changed out some of the items,

I didn't give her any magic items, as I was wondering if you would be ok with her having a cloak of elvenkind, and if not that, a cloak of resistance I suppose.

Hey Rorek, my only concern is that the party’s main melee combatant has left the game so a more combat-balanced Shalelu (more strength for melee) might be advised.

Thinking about the other players, I may have handed out too much treasure as well...

I'm still here. I swear!

Silver Crusade

I can see how that would be a potential issue, but if that was the case I'd rather up her con more than strength if she is going to be up front more often. As even at close range the option to 5ft step away and attack with the bow would be better than swapping to melee, and the extra con/AC would do better in the "off tank" role IMO than str would help. Though if the party is fairly light on melee, I don't see why making a few minor changes to her to make her a TWF character would be too much. And I could still have her work as a switch hitter of sorts. If you are open that Idea I'd happily write her up for that.

(in other words, keep the flavor or preferring to use range/bow, but make her good at melee to help out the group), I don't really see her being a two-hand monster, but TWF might work well, or have her use an elven curved blade. She always struck me as a much more "dextrous" warrior. Or this can be a mute point, just figured I'd suggest it if most of your remaining group is frontline light.

And as I said, I haven't given her any magical items as of yet, as I figure that would be more your park (save the campfire bead and some consumables)

Apologies, I should have written ‘tank’ or ‘meat shield’.

Swashbucklers don’t hold the line, they bend it!

Silver Crusade

sorry, did you want me to focus on archery, while being able to take a hit, or have her be a bit more of a "front line" fighter?

I’m not sure how the group dynamic will play out in combat.

It was more: hedge your bets and make sure she is flexible.

Anyway, finish her up how you will and I’ll get the game back up tonight (GMT).

Silver Crusade

alright, I changed a few things, basically made her able to switch hit with an elven curved bladed, and I took a level of rogue, the only magic items she has are the campfire bead, and a cloak of resistance, since it seemed you were wary of giving her the cloak of elvenkind. Should be ready to go.

That gear looks sound but throw in two sleep arrows as well.

rorek55, please, would you make an alias now and introduce yourself in the discussion thread?

Silver Crusade

Will do. Though, I've already sort of slipped into it by mistake hah
