Likewise! I want to get my goblin on!
Gniffles
2 natural 1's!!! Wow, not impressive Gniffles!
Gniffles
I'm not sure if I can actually do what I just described. I just assumed that with 2 natural ones I had no options but to fail spectacularly.
Gniffles
Haha, I really appreciate that :)

Not sure whether you guys noticed from the bolding in the last post or not (I meant to say something and forgot), but yes, Squealy Nord is a significant NPC with whom you can build a relationship.
That is both disturbing & cool at the same time...

Aka: It's as it should be.
Zurk: Who knows? In time, he may be able to be such.
Everyone: I'm going on a trip for the next week or so. I'm going to bring my laptop, but I'll be visiting family and spending time traveling, so I can't promise that I'll be able to post every day. If I can't get on to move things forward, I advise that you take some time being goblins and "getting to know" one another. No eating is about the only rule.
Gniffles
Thanks for the heads up Chief!
Last week I was on a vacation with the fam. And even with my laptap along, it's tough to find time to just sit at the computer. So it makes sense if you are unable to update often. We'll try not to burn everything down.

Couple of notes on combat and how I'm working it, because I don't think I brought it up earlier.
Point 1: Initiative
I'll roll for you to speed things up, unless you guys object to that. I also "group" the initiative count, so the exact order in which individuals in a group post doesn't matter to me. Consider your actions to take place roughly alongside the others' in your group, but still in the post order. If your action becomes irrelevant (e.g., attacking a monster that was killed before you got to it) and you don't post a specific contingency plan, I'll do something intelligent (or at least, relatively speaking, considering your scores and such) with your character--again, if you have objections to this, just let me know.
For multiple enemies, I'll generally average their initiative rolls and use that. If there are different groups, or specific monsters (like a boss with minions), I'll keep them separate.
Point 2: Uhm...
I had one, but I don't recall what it was. I'll post it when it pops back into my head.
Sorry about the delay, and I'm glad to get this thing going again! It's a load of fun reading what you guys are doing.
GM Armadillephant
I remember!
Point 2: Mapping
Because I've purchased the Jade Regent AP issues in print via local bookstores, I don't have online maps for them... Although I'll check out the possibilities of purchasing them on the store here. At least for WBG, though, I'm probably going to run without maps. If you really want, I know how to make reasonable semblances of mapping via Google Docs, so I could do that.
Assuming we just use "theater of the mind," I'll be very forgiving about cover, concealment, flanking, etc. I'll either let you know or heavily imply when a creature has cover/concealment, if you say you're flanking you're flanking, I'll try and give rough ideas on whether AoO's would be provoked, that sort of thing.
Generally speaking, I'll rule in your favor, so don't be afraid to try crazy stuff or charge through enemy lines (assuming you can actually take the beating).

As a cleric with negative energy burst it is certainly in my favor to use this method, however with so many players involved it would be so much easier to figure out what's happening with a map. I have just always used Google spreadsheet for this purpose and it works well.
Here's a sample map I used recently:
Sample
Here's the quick set up for this:
1. Left click the blank box in the top left between the 1 and the A. This will "select all".
2. Put your mouse cursor between any of the column numbers until it changes to a line with an arrow on both ends. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the column to the width size you want for your grid. Do the same for your row size.
3. Reduce the font size to about 8.
4. Select the vertical alignment to center.
5. In the top right of your screen, click the Share button. Change the access to "Anyone who has the link can view".
You will be good to go now. To make it really easy for linking the map, I also recommend pasting the message board URL code to your GM Profile under the Race tab. This way, the link will always show up on any post you make, and will be easy for the players to select it, rather than hunting up and down through posts to find the map link. (An example of this can be seen here).

Fantastic!

Kor, I actually use Google spreadsheets for maps in another game, albeit in that one I use the pictures of the characters and size the map for that. I also think that your method works very well, and if people would like me to use maps, I shall do so. I'll also try to do a better job of letting you guys know about distances from now on--I realize I didn't really make it hugely clear for this one.
Aka, the many-lived
Hey GM Armedillephant; I think I need you to make a rules call. The Compel effect from Primordial Magic does not say that it is a mind-affecting effect, it also does not say that it isn't. Would it work on these things or is that something Aka is going to have to find out for herself?
Gniffles
Is the poison Zoog and Horsecutter are suffering from persistant?
Gniffles
Yep, that's exactly it. Gniffles is tired of slinging rocks.
Although, come to think of it, you can't exactly try to treat a person who's in the middle of a fight. So I'll have to wait. More rocks it is!

Nice work guys! Sorry for my absence, but I'm rarely able to post much if at all on weekends. Glad to see we didn't all die on our first encounter :)
GM Armadillephant
Actually, starting Sunday I'll be away at camp through the following Friday and unable to post during that time (and possibly some after that, depending on family stuff). So, it's quite possible that there won't be much to do in that interval. I hope you guys will actually goblin it up this time!
