Boudra Kellanet |
With the decision made, Boudra will start to lead the group back toward their own camp. She's trying to keep an eye out...
Perception for any strange critters/people: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Thorek Ironspark |
Thorek return to camp, feeling conflicted. On the one hand, it was good that the killer wasn't a traitor in their midst. On the other...their unseen enemy had killed twice in two nights, and none of them had a clue until the bodies were discovered. Such skill was disturbing, even a little frightening. Thorek prayed to Angradd to lend his courage and skill to this lowly servant, to protect these lost humans. The dwarven gods help those who help themselves, of course, so Thorek busies himself with putting together more shelters for night.
Survival (Shelter): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
As full night falls, the dwarf makes a few attempts at building snares for human-sized prey to help guard the camp. Alas, though he was capable when it came to catching squirrels or birds, his simple hunting techniques didn't scale well, and after half an hour he abandons his efforts, frustrated.
Craft (Traps), no ranks: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Undeterred by his unsuccessful trap efforts, Thorek patrols the camp perimeter vigorously, peering into every shadow and keeping on the move, eyes scouring every tree and bush for a crouched figure, ears straining for any sound. We will not lose another, not on my watch, the dwarf silently vows.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Cedric Thistlewyne |
Cedric realizes that he's been unacceptably distracted of late. The shock and horror have been getting to him much more than he, or any of them, can afford. So, in light of the extreme relief he feels at the discovery that they're not under attack from within, he tries to return to the basics. He goes about the business of providing food and shelter methodically, carefully making sure that he pulls his weight somewhat rather than risking coming up empty again.
Take 10 on survival for 13. Last couple days in a row have rolled pretty bad :\
Lily Moore |
Lily sighs as she stares at her creation. What good is a water filter if no one is around to use it? After feebly walking around for food she decides to hide in a bush very carefully and keep watch over the camp.

Cyrioul is not as tired as the others, but he's feeling the taxing drain of handling the mundane details of hunting and foraging and laying out campsites over and over and over again. He's anxious to get back to his studies, and how he can further his own growth as a wizard. For now, he is committed to survival, and the task at hand. For now.
Cyrioul's player is having no problems though. Hope y'all are doing well!

Round 1
Cedric steps forward and holds up a hand in the (hopefully) universal gesture of peace. "Ho, there," he calls out. "If you can understand me, we would prefer to discuss rather than come to blows."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Just in case, however, he returns his hand to the grip of his longspear, ready to take advantage if any of the potential foes tries to close the distance in a hostile way.

Boudra spends the night making sure as many people as possible have a comfortable--or at least passable--place to sleep. As Cyrioul intuited, take 10 on Survival for a 20.
When they encounter the troglodytes, she is (typically) surprised. She tenses and her hands stray to her crossbow, ready for violence if need be.

Seeing the troglodyte party ignore, or more likely not understand, Cedric had tipped an already on edge Caladra over. Use it, don't be a slave to it, she told herself.
"Looks like they only understand one language," Caladra said. As she spoke her body seemed to tighten as she let the anger and rage course through her body. She could feel it in her head, close to consuming her fully, but she maintained control. She then lunged forward towards her nearest target, eyes white and sword drawn. "BLOOD!" she yelled before attacking the nearest foe.

IF NOT: He calls out, "Hope this helps - saim!" He spreads a slippery layer of grease underneath the trog, trying to trip it up.

Cyrioul casts grease under the troglodyte, who manages to keep his feet.

Thorek advances as his companions cut down the first troglodyte and their lizard pet, moving to flank the second even as it releases its magical feather-bird. "So much for any element of surprise," the warpriest mutters grimly.
Double Move, currently threatening with Dorn-Dergar reach
Boudra Kellanet |
Boudra hurries forward and, seeing that the others seem to have the troglodyte threat well in hand, reaches out to steady Cedric as he recovers from his attack on the gecko.
Assuming that we can't target the bird token, I cast guidance on Cedric.

He turns to Boudra and signs, "Do you think you can follow their tracks back to their home?"
Caladra Swordborn |
kill. Kill them all
Caladra could feel her pulse quicken. The smell of blood and death hung thick in the air like the battles before. Things long forgotten in the caverns of her mind stir as she feels herself slipping.
NO!
She let out a long growl that lessened into a sigh. Her body came more at ease and seemed to return to its normal self.
"i'm impressed with it too," she says in response to the dwarf'a whistle. Ahe whiped the sweat from her brow and walked back to the others.
Cedric Thistlewyne |
Cedric shrinks back to his own size. He doesn't even really notice the amazing shot, instead he sees the shaken appearance of Caladra. Her expression worries him, and he puts a calming hand on her shoulder, letting the grace of Erastil flow through his hand and into her mind and body. Calming Touch SLA
"It's okay," he says. "It's over for the moment, thanks to you. You've done well." He pauses for a moment, hoping that the next sentence won't be taken badly, but proceeds knowing that it needs to be said. Still, he quiets his voice down so that only she can hear him.
Caladra Swordborn |
"I'm fine," she says sternly, though doesn't pull away. "but, uh, thanks." she adds in a softer tone.
Thorek Ironspark |
Thorek volunteers to help Boudra follow the tracks--unless she doesn't need his help, in which case he would rather not slow down the group.

Boudra smiles when Lily downs the bird, but shakes her head when she sees the next statement. I don't want us to get used to this...any of it, she thinks to herself. Seeing that the others are looking to her to take the lead again, though, she signs, Somebody search the bodies, and someone else help me find the tracks. With that giant gecko, it shouldn't be hard to follow them.
She sets about looking for the tracks, and once she or someone else has located them she begins to slowly follow them to see where they lead.

Boudra beckons the others forward as she follows the tracks. We should move quietly, in case we're near their lair. As she walks she once again (without realizing it) is surrounded by shadows that dim the light around her.

Cedric tries to be quiet, too, but the armor makes such things difficult. So does his naturally conversational nature and unfortunate tendency to get distracted from where he's putting his feet.
Cyrioul Fasar |
I see us basically holding up a giant banner that says, "SHHHHH!"
TechnoDM |
While following the trail, you come across where the "bird" landed. Although it is no longer a bird, but a feather... a rather mangled feather. While it detects as magic, its magic is much less than the other magic feather you found. It is almost as if it were no longer truly magical, but had a residual amount of magic on it.
Basically, you damaged a magical item so much that it would require a make whole spell to fix it.
After an hour or so of following the trail, you might consider whether you will continue to follow the trail or get back to your refugees and bring them along.
Cyrioul Fasar |
Cyrioul picks up the damaged feather, and carefully places it next to the whole version they picked up earlier. "Maybe having a pair will help me identify them. I might be able to fix this one later, too."
