Maximillian charges the beast close to Claire. The beast tries to bite him as he comes closer, but misses the paladin. Maximillian kills the bird with one mighty blow.

Lander looks at the bird in astonishment. "What a mighty warrior you are!"

Claire spends a point of panache to tumble through the first square threated by the red bird, and vault on to the edge of the bridge.

Claire then walks with confidence through the remaining squares. She will deliberately provoke an attack of opportunity when she is within 5', in order to trigger her "Opportune Parry and Riposte".

"Come on in, fellas, I think you'll be fine" Claire says in reference to the AoO from the Axebeak.

The bird watches Claire as she moves to the side and once she's in reach again the bird tries to grab her with a talon. Claws pierce into Claire's flesh. In return Claire hits the bird with her rapier.

His sword isn't quite as big as Maximillian's, but it does look pretty sharp.

Vrald and Maximillan charge the bird while Taliesin continues her oratory. The charges both hit and the second bird finally drops to the ground.

Lander seems to be disappointed that he did not have the chance to hit a bird, but does not say a word.

"That was a good throw you did Lander. It was just unlucky the way the wind caught it. And did you see how the throw distracted it just as I closed. Surely it would have had my head off if it hadn't been snapping at it."
says Vrald, "Combat is very much a team effort, and your effort was telling."

The rest of the journey to Silverhall is uneventful. Once you return Lander Lebeda to Silverhall, Dame Sarrona Lebeda is overwhelmed with gratitude. She quizzes both you and Lander on your expedition, hoping to get Lander to confess that he was overwhelmed and is more suited for the role of a landed noble than a wandering adventurer. Lander admits that perhaps he got in over his head. His experiences with you have convinced him that excursions into the wilderness are best left to the professionals. Although he still wishes to continue his tutelage in swordplay, he agrees to take a formal tutor in court, study a less contentious style, and resume his duties.

Sarrona gives you the Horn of Aroden.

Having such a prize is a great boon to Lady Morilla’s Army of Exploration and attracts to its banner an array of Taldan and Rostlander patriots as well as many faithful followers of Iomedae. Pathfinder scholars and Morilla’s own agents quickly set to work studying the horn and attempting to restore its magic. If successful, they will have recovered a powerful weapon against the armies of the Worldwound.

Lander himself gives you gifts in gratitude for your timely rescue and patience in dealing with him: a ring, boots and an amulet.

"It was a pleasure to meet you all. I'm sure I'll see some of you in the Army of Exploration at the Worldwound." nods Vrald.

Jagged Stone waves slowly.

He picks up one of the claws of his bird companion and waves it, too.

"Say bye-bye, Siz'ahs!"
