Molos informs the monk that ther was no at to dislodge the building without bringing the whole place down around them. "It saved you, but it has to stay. "

"Pleeeease, I need that castle! Can't you rescue it while the ceiling collapses? Somehow drag it out of the chamber when it's small enough before all the rubble falls on it?" Bertrag begs.

Tori just shrugs, as this is clearly not in her line of expertise.

"Bertie, my boy, there is nothing that can save that device now. If you shrink it, it will be buried in more tons of rubble than an army of earth elementals could move. Best you chalk it up as a loss which kept you alive, and move on. It could have been much worse."

"If we were somehow able to tie a rope around it that would tighten as we pulled, we might be able to pull it clear, or at least, you would then be able to dig it out later by following the rope back to it."

Vrald looks at the ceiling carefully.

"I agree with Molos. But Bertrag... "

Vrald pauses for a moment.

"If you tell us the word, we can try and remove it after dealing with the cult leader and his creature. I like Gilfroy's idea, but we shouldn't try it before finishing the mission. If you want you can stay here and wait then if the cultist tries to come back, shout the word and bring the ceiling down on him - we would already be dead."

"A death trap for the cultist. That sounds good." Bertrag answers to Vrald's suggestion. "I will wait here."

With that agreed, Vrald leads the group deeper into the mine.

"Does anyone have an idea what the monster described might be? What type of tactics would we need to use against it?"

Claire ponders Vralds question.

"Bertrag, what more can you tell us of the monster?" She asks.

From the description can she guess what is lurking?

Claire thinks that the beast might be a Thognorok. "I don't know what exactly it is, it has a lot of legs and mouthes." the dwarf answers.

Vrald leads the group further into the mine to another chamber. Greenish filaments crisscross this flooded chamber, whose pools of murky water release strange, foul-smelling fumes. Large boulders protrude from the water, many covered in profane markings and bloodstains.

This chamber owes its size to the caustic water constantly eating away at the surrounding rock and triggering cave-ins. This was the last area the former proprietors mined, and all preexisting signs of human occupation are gone. The air is painfully hot; the temperature in this area is over 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The rocks here are slick and rise about 5 feet out of the water.

Claire follows Vrald toward the room, keeping her guard raised. She scans for signs of the creature, and attempts to diagnose any hazards.

Perception: 1d20 + 17 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 17 + (6) = 32

In a hushed tone she warns her comrades, "The thognorok hides below the waterline. It has constructed a web just above the water’s surface in part of the room."

She imbibes a quick cocktail, tossing in a sprig of mint, and casts Shield and Longarm if she has the time.

Bah, it looks like my post was eaten, I moved Vrald at a hussle along the shore line

Weating inside his heavy armour, Vrald hurries along the shoreline, trying to get past the horrible, toxic air as fast as he can.

"Where is it?" he asks Claire.

Claire teases the impatient knight, "If you keep rushing in like that and yelling at me, it won't matter if you know where it is. You'll find out when it starts trying to eat you!"

The wayang points a finger toward the danger zone of the beast, and chortles at her own joke.

Vrald moves along the shore line, closer to the beast while Claire points out the position of the beast and the web. the area surrounded by the dotted line is webbed

The beast raises one leg out of the water and hurls an acid arrow at Vrald.

Gilfroy casts silent image, and a small earth elemental rises out of the rock next to the man and tries but fails to push him into the water.

Molos moves 20' to the south and uses another point from his arcane reservoir, summoning a pair of ice missiles, sending them streaking at the spider creature.

Damage 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 1 = 6

DC 14 Fort or staggered one round. 1 points left today.

Tori moves 60 ft. to the south in an effort to both spread out and to find a better shot.

Gilfroy casts a silent image of an earth elemental next to the cult leader while Tori gets closer and Molos throws several ice missiles at the spider thing. The ice missiles hit the water.

Tasutek immediately attacks the earth elemental.

Vrald continues along the shore line, jumping the small gap to the island with the cultist fighting the earth elemental.

"Ouch, but that acid burns!" he cries out.

Claire hustles toward Tori, providing some support for the archer.

Double move.

Clair and Vrald move around to find a good place to attack. Thognorok moves closer to the rock, opens one of its mouths and spits a ball of acidic silc at Vrald.

Tori takes a few steps and fires a couple of arrows at one of the enemy.

Five foot step, then Thognorok is the target, unless completely submerged, then Tasutek instead.

The earth elemental continues to flail at the cultist while Gilfroy begins to chant and sway, while the shadows around his hands and face writhe hypnotically.

Casting hypnotism...1round casting time.

Tori shoots two arrows at the beast in the water. One arrow hits the target. Molos throws another pair of ice missiles at the creature and also hits, although the creature seems to be immune to cold and has a remarkably strong shell. immune to cold and DR5 Gilfroy starts to cast a spell.

Tasutek starts to sing.

Vrald, irritated at the sticky stuff all around him, decides to try and ed the fight rapidly.

"Silence!" he commands, swinging his sword at the strange man as he does so.

The sticky stuff around him throws off his aim and the sword strikes sparks from the rocky island rather than drawing blood from the priest.

Claire double-moves toward the caster on the rock, as she can do virtually nothing to the critter in the water.

She tries to ascertain the spell coming from atop the rock.

Drat!

Despit the sticky webbing Vrald attacks the singing man in front of him, but he misses. Claire moves closer, she tries to identify the song, but she's not able to recall any information about it.

The horrific thing in the water approaches Vrald and bites.

Gilfroy finishes his spell and Tasutek stares at him for a moment, but after a few seconds he shakes off the effect and continues to sing.

Gilfroy pulls out his crossbow and let's the bolt fly at the singer, hoping to disrupt his casting. His aim is about as good as he's capable of doing.

I'm on my phone, so can't move him, but he would have had to step a bit forward two rounds ago to cast his illusion, so he should be able to see.

Molos uses a magic missile on the singing human.

Tori takes a couple of steps closer to the enemy then fires two arrows at Thognorok.

Vrald gasps in pain as the creature in the foul lagoon bites him.

"For Taldor!" he cries, gritting his teeth against the pain of the bite even as the poison starts to seep through his veins.

Gritting his teeth in determination he calls out again. "I shall not fall this day!"

Gilfroy shoots a bolt at the singing man, but the bolt hits the stone below the warpriest. Molos shoots a magic missile, hitting the singer.

Suddenly the man stops to sing and growns in pain. Tori continues to shoot at the creature in the water and hits once. Vrald shakes off the effect of the bite.

Tasutek, obviously angry about his failure, simply touches Vrald while mumbling a few words.

Claire uses a point of her Panache to launch from the rocky precipice over the small channel of water to the island with Tasutek. She hopes to support the entangled Vrald while minimizing his vulnerabilities.

Claire barely manages to keep her footing on the slick rocks, then takes a swipe with her rapier at the Warpriest.

Vrald gasps in pain.

"You'll pay for that." he mutters as he steps sideways to put himself opposite the elemental.

The young knight-to-be, now angry and in quite a lot of difficulty tries to end the battle quickly, opting for a more powerful technique, albeit one easier to deflect...

That stroke is no better than his first, and desperation starts to appear in his eyes.

Claire hops onto the wet stone and attacks the warpriest with her rapier. She hits. Vrald tries to do the same, but the entanglement keeps him from hitting the foe.

The Thognorok continues to nibble at Vrald, but somehow the fighter evades the attacks.

Molos pulls out his wand of magic missiles and starts blasting away.

Rocky, the silent earth elemental, glides 5 feet over and fails to push the priest into the water (but now Claire can move to flank with Vrald).

Gilfroy the gnome attempts another hypnotism spell (full round casting).

Tori switches to blunt arrows in an effort to overcome Thognorok's damage resistance and fires twice.

Molos throws a magic missile at the man from his wand while Gilfroy let's the earth elemental fake a bullrush and starts to cast another spell. Tori shoots two more arrows at the spider beast, one arrow hits, but also bludgeoning damage is not very effective.

The warpriest, seeming desperate, takes his weapon and swings it at 1d3 ⇒ 1 the earth elemental. The great axe swings through the illusion.

Coughing in the toxic fumes, Vrald steps to the side to allow Claire the advantage of flanking the warpriest.

"Surrender! " he calls out, striking as hard as he can as his lungs burn.

Claire takes advantage of her flank with the knight.

"It's this air. It burns the lungs of nomral men." explains Vrald, trying not too look too worried by his predicament.

Vrald attacks the warpriest and hits, while Claire hits from the other side. The beast in the water takes a step onto the stone and bites Claire, but the tiny teeth grab stone.

Gilfroy finishes his spell, but again the warpriest resists the hypnotic effect.
