Hey guys, I just picked up The Dragon's Demand module and am really stoked to run it (hopefully). Anyone interested can go ahead and check out the recruitment thread

Sorry I have been completely out of contact the last few days. Ice storm took out power and internet on Friday. We got power back Friday night, but still no internet at home. I will try and catch up today.

From min in a thread where he is my DM:
Still here! Life has just been... happening I suppose. Started new job, lost new job, been doing temp work etc. Not to get too personal or anything but I've just been having a hard time of it, and that coupled with dark souls 2 well... needless to say I haven't even been on the computer much in my limited free time. Not trying to ignore anyone, just sorta overwhelmed!

Wouldn't it be a bummer if the fight's over, our muscle guys are panting, in comes a hobgoblin warpriest who's all charged up.
Waglinde
I’m still pathetically weak!
Now, for some good news/bad news
My daughter is receiving her Master’s Degree in South East Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The graduation ceremony is on May 17. The wife and I are going to be there! We are leaving for Hawaii on the 13th and will be back on the 20th and, honestly, posting will not be high on my list of things to do while I am there ;)
So I will be absent, well more absent than I have been, for a week.
DireMerc
ok, I've been deciding how I was going to proceed for the next part.
The next big encounter would be the boss fight with the hobgoblin chief.
The a few more encounters with group of hobgoblins to finish clearing the keep after that we will have roleplaying for a while.
I will npc Min and Wag until the keep is clear and we will see what happens next.

I don't mind keeping track of the loot. Did anyone keep a list before I joined the game? I'd have to dig rather deep otherwise.
HP gain level 3: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
I'll be working on updating Kirana ;)
Kirana Scarlet
I've read everything, and I think Ozen was keeping track of things. I'll start by looking up the last post where loot was sold, and pick up from there.
Kirana Scarlet
@DireMerc: Please let me know if the Magic Ring on the loot list was identified.
@Everyone: I suggest you let me know what you want, and then we sell everything else. Rolls will have to be made to sell things, to determine the percentage we can sell for?
I also suggest everyone gets an equal share of the loot, where the things you claim are subtracted from your share. If you ever feel like you'd rather have the money, you can still sell the item you claimed and get that part of the loot money.
So let's say a party of 4 people can sell their loot for a total of 4000 gold, and has found 2000 gold in coins. They'd have a total of 6000 gold loot money, meaning everyone gets 1500 gold. Unless someone claims an item, which could have sold for 500 gold. Then that person gets 1000 gold and his item, which he can still sell if he wishes.
1869gp 6sp
Sell-for-money stuff:
Gold Necklace 650 gp
Jewelry, estimated at 500gp
Items:
Crossbow Bolts [x160]
+1 Falchion
Game of Dice (Claimed by Kirana)
Javelin [x10]
Large Wooden Shield
Light Crossbow [x8]
Masterwork Chainshirt
Masterwork Dagger [x2]
Potion of Cure Light Wounds
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds
Potion of Hull’s Strength
Ranseur
Scroll of Burning Hands (Lilly expressed interest)
Scroll of Magic Missile [x2] (Lilly expressed interest)
Spear
Splint Mail
Unidentified:
Magic ring from fortress chieftain (Lilly got 23 on Spellcraft to identify it)
Quest item?
Key ring with 8 keys

Welcome back, Wags! I'm keeping track of the loot, and made a list of what we currently have. Anything of interest to you amongst the pile of loot we have, besides (obviously) the gold?
Min was so much fun... :(

Alright so a little something I put together and will be posting in the description section of all my games. Feel free to comment on this, in fact I would like your feedback.
Houserules:
Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.
Fumble: If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll, make a dexterity check. If you get less than 10 you fumble. If you get more than 10 your attack simply misses very badly. If you roll a natural 20 you get your attack back, roll another attack roll!
Super crits: If you roll a natural 20 on a critical and when you roll another 20 to confirm this is a super crit, increase your weapons modifier by 1. (ex: X2 becomes X3)
Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception(all of them).
Sense Motive.
Bluff
Stealth
Apraise
Knowledge (all of them)
if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.
Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.
Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...
Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it!
Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).
Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."

Funny you mention creativity. I have a witch whom, in her previous carnation, tried to ignite the clothing of a hostile NPC. With the "spark ignites flammable materials", it worked a first time but later the dm ruled it invalid after a review.
Below is just personal thoughts, everybody has their own taste after all.
On rolls, i'd like to keep it to saving rolls and initiative. Rolling your skill like bluff gives a satisfying feeling, but that's just a personal thing. It'd totally depend on what the party would want to do, instead of what they might. THey're adventurers.....and not every adventurer is as keen :)
If you roll automatically, won't you remove the deciding element?
You examine the room/notice...maybe the party wouldn't even bother to roll and thus miss something in order to quickly do something. Just a thought.
That supercrit, looks fun, but i wonder how many times it'll happen :).
Something i did in my recently started campaign was to describe in detail if somebody scored a critical killing move, just a confirmed. The thief they attacked got shot on a normal to 0hp, then got his 2nd shot a crit confirmed to outright kill him. The arrow pierced the chest, sticking out from both sides.
On the other things i agree. If people act stubbornly stupid by attacking something out of their league despite hints....meh, let them feel it.
Level up: totally agree, have it make sense.

Well i am not a real super fan if house rules that modify the way the games handles (to add on top to the fact that in PbP one might play in a whole bunch of games and it would be hard to "remember" all the house rules)
i like when GM like you posted does roll for a bunch of things it makes the game play faster.
Combat Rules: I am fine with this approach. after all you are running a homebrew.
Actions: it rewards players to think out of the box. (neat)
Posting Rate: Fine
Level up: Your world and it makes sense.

here are my 3 coppers... :)
