I was thinking about running an Eberron PBP game. Life got busy but now I have some time. This will be 3.5 game, all Eberron Books are legal. The story picks up the two months after the Mourning. Have that worked into your back story. I am looking for 5 players. Posting four times a week will be the must. Combat will be both Theater of the mind and grid. This is to be a fun game.
Character Creation Rules
* 32 point buy.
* 2nd-level PCs.
* Starting gold is 450 gp.

I have not worked with: Theater of the mind and grid. Should I familiarize myself with it and where can I find it?
I have a Grey Elf Wizard Generalist that has a penchant for destroying things on accident, "pesky wells of magic, they sometimes have a life of their own."
Also I could use my Wood Elf Fighter Sarnois.
I am willing to fill a niche that is left open. Just let me know which you would think would be best or if another class is needed.
P.S. I have GMed for the past 5 years and really look forward to play, let alone get a handle on the PbP system.

Physical description:
Saronis is an imposing figure with a 6 foot tall body, lithe and strong, but a bit bulkier than that of his kin, of 160 pounds. He has a proud air about him whenever he talks about his craft, but deems most races of equal stature, assuming they act mature. To the mortals he would appear to be in his mid-twenties, but in actuality he is about 125. He has seen his share of battles and many fires of different forges, leaving his body charred and scarred, perhaps another reason see him as imposing. His coppery red hair is kept short for practical matters and his hazel eyes seem to glow at times. He wears what colorations would be practical for where he is, green and browns for the forest, grey for the cities; though underneath he has his passionate blood red scarlet tunic and breeches. A simple silver band (15 gp) around his neck is his only adornment, kept out of sight with his cloak.

Background:
I would like to introduce Saronis, a Wood Elf.
“Greetings, I am a master crafter of Elven blades. Though, my pride has gotten me into quite a few predicaments. I have learned from them, but I am an elf.”
I was born in a simple village in the tree tops and some below. The village may have moved or it may still be there though I have my missions, and though my birth place nor the place I was raised I would call home, perhaps the forests the place I can find solace, but more with those I love.
My father always spun tales about how he was a great hero and saved his home town, though he was a fighter in his own right it was the story of another. My father was a great craftsman and more expert levels than fighter. Many would argue that he was a bard with that musical voice and great story telling. Those stories caught up to him one day. I was away at holiday, for my father had very little work at the time. When I came back the house and forge were burned to the ground, many of the townsfolk hidden in their houses. I went to speak with the hierarch hoping to find answers to where my father was and what had happened. Another dead end for that is what the hierarch was also, dead. No one was willing to give me information except for that a stranger attacked my father in the tavern over the accuracy of the stories. I cannot blame them for we were not in our elven home town, but for reasons my father would not say we were among the outsiders.
Now I search to grow my knowledge of the blade, to find my father’s killer, and to set what I can right. I believe in the gods, I worship Corethain Larithan, but I follow what visions they send me to the best of my ability, may my hand and feet be always guided by them.
Saronis is Chaotic Good and charges into battle without abandon with true friends at his back. On his own, he knows to take it slowly and see all he can before exposing himself. He loves the company of others and would prefer to spend a night laughing, telling stories, or in bed with one of his few loves. He enjoys learning about magic, and sees the benefit of the wondrous world has to offer, but it is not his talent.
Saronis is a Fighter, hoping to become a Grandmaster with the Elven Courtblade, with some exotic weapon master levels if possible. With his father’s plans and secrets he plans to recreate the Elvencraft Courtblade (1d10, x2, 17-20 threat). (See Dwarvencraft in Races of Stone)

Let me know if Mordeth is acceptable for the game.
If so, here is a little backstory:
Mordeth was born into a poor Karnathi family, and would have had a rather unremarkable life if not for a seeker of the Blood of Vol who took interest in his seemingly boundless potential and began tutoring him on the Divinity Within. By the time he was 17 and entered into the Karnathi obligatory military service, Mordeth could already perform impressive martial feats that fed on the divinity within himself.
After his first year of service, Mordeth had distinguished himself enough that his superiors decided to overlook his common blood and allow him entry into the Academy of Korth, where he trained in battle magic. After 18 months, Mordeth had mastered basic battle spells and had enough of a knowledge of the arcane arts to return to the field of battle. As fate would have it, however, the day of Mourning came just two days after his graduation, and the unit to which he was assigned was lost inside the Mournland.
Mordeth tried to join up with his regiment, but when he saw the Mournland for himself, he knew the truth. All of his comrades were dead. Now Mordeth is alone and unemployed and nearly broke except for the skills he learned in the military. He has decided to seek his fortune and the Divinity Within on his own.

paul rasband |
Oh, I forgot to clarify Mordeth's relation to the blood of vol.
He is not officially a cult member, although he is a firm believer in the teachings about the divinity within, and his Crusader abilities are based on his faith in those teachings. Mordeth is somewhat unsettled by the undead despite his nationality and faith.
If Mordeth were to ever discover the truth of the leadership of the Blood of Vol, he would be horrified.
Mordeth is Lawful Good

Blood
Theater of the mind is normally gridless combat..no map etc. So normally i would describe something etc and you tell me where your at etc.. This is my attempt to make combat more movie like..instead of maps etc. Believe me there will be that too.
That is theater of the mind? I've always played that way and I never knew as they called

Saronis |

AKA BloodWolven
I was wondering how you want to deal with the skills?
Are we doing pathfinder: no multiply first level by 4, and max ranks equals level
Or are we sticking with standard 3.5, with the condensed skills of Pathfinder?
No worries because I just learned about these difference within the last 5 days. :)

I am flexiable with this option 3.5 with pathfinder condensed or simply use the pathfinder skill list.
//break
Spaz and everyone else please take your time with PC development. Also put in your backstory how you all know each other.
Just wanted to clarify, so pathfinder skill list using 3.5 rules, ie no +3 ranks for class skills

DM Ashman |

Hey guys here is something I learned a while back that I like using.
In PC stats
Show the math.
(STR:8 now STR 10:(+ 2) point cost)
This way I can see how you came up with up your build and it may help others come up with something for future characters.
Now about skills. I said this would be a 3.5 game and also said hey guys use the Pathfinder skills. So I will clarify what I need, so we can all have fun. Use the Pathfinder rules for Skills, so you can have a plus 3 in the skills. I hope this does not cause to much heart burn.

Saronis |

Erdath we could have come to know each other in the forges, discussing different weaponsmithing techniques. From those talks you tell about how you decided to explore the world and Saronis extended the invitation to join him.
Mordeth can be discovered by Saronis, he is looking for individuals to set out on a mission for a benefactor.
I was wondering exactly what will the date be compared to the Day of Mourning?
Do you have a specific day that we will be starting?
Will Saronis be approached by a benefactor?
About what time will people be able to play? I live in WA, and should be able to post mostly from 7 to 9 pm, most weekdays, except some Fridays when I am hosting a D&D session at my house.
Just trying to get a handle on things.

Pauwell Bas |

Well, a totemist at all, really. While I had the original idea for a warforged, it'd probably be better to go with Azurin/human/halfling, mechanically and backstory-wise.
If someone ends up dropping out for whatever reason, I am available as an alternate if needed. Otherwise, I'm just gonna follow the campaign.
