Share Spells: I may cast a spell with a target of “You” on my familiar (as a touch spell) instead of on myself. I may cast spells on my familiar even if the spells do not normally affect creatures of the familiar's type (magical beast).
Empathic Link: I have an empathic link with Tosk to a 1 mile distance. I can communicate empathically with Tosk, but cannot see through his eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. I have the same connection to an item or place that Tosk does.
Deliver Touch Spells: Tosk can deliver touch spells for me. If Tosk and I are in contact at the time I cast a touch spell, I can designate Tosk as the “toucher.” He can then deliver the touch spell just as I would. As usual, if I cast another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates.
Speak with Master: Tosk and I can communicate verbally as if we were using a common language. Other creatures do not understand the communication without magical help.
Speak with Animals of Its Kind: Tosk can communicate with animals of approximately the same kind as himself (including dire varieties) such communication is limited by the Intelligence of the conversing creatures.

Backstory:
Ixidor grew up on the road, traveling with his parents in their caravan through southern Varisia. As he grew older he began to learn the family business of “Magic” and also separating rich foreigners from their wealth; the caravan would arrive in a new town and put on a show for the locals, showing them fantastic feats, telling fortunes, and generally showing the locals a good time; within a day or two, they would have identified the richest people there, and robbed them while they were distracted by the show. When Ixidor’s magical talent manifested it became another tool in this endeavor. One day, their luck ran out; a powerful Chelish noble, set a trap for them, inviting them for a private performance at his estate, and then attacking them with trained soldiers and bound devils; those who fought back were killed, the rest were enslaved; Ixidor escaped using his illusions to appear as one of the devils, as soon as he escaped the trap he ran, leaving his family to their fate, something he has regretted ever since. Ixidor continued his families tradition of theft, but now there was a bitterness behind it where before there had been simple amusement, he focused his efforts on the rich and powerful, especially those who held power over others. Eventually he travelled to Chelliax, seeking greater authorities to challenge; there he met the other PC’s and worked with them on several occasions. He still hopes to find out what happened to his family, but in his heart he doubts that he ever will. Now he mostly wants to have a good time and make life harder for those arrogant Chellish nobles.

In case it isn't obvious, I imagine that Ixidor will have the role of face. During combat he will use his illusions to fake summoning creatures, and then using shadow gambit on the next turn for damage.

Good luck all!

Gone back to Pixie build, just to many mistakes while rushing it, in the Fey Gnome build.
Just simpler with the Pixie, I don't mind tweaking it down to fit if picked.

And good luck all.

GM are we playing Magic/Psionic transparency rules

As requested V PM and now sent V PM, GM,
Posting here so others can see her,
GM asked that no Templates or monster races be used.

So
Core race Elf, Telepath L8, (Mind Braker)

Dark Archive

Good luck all,

If picked I will be interested in seeing psionics in action.

Silver Crusade

One of the Key things with Psionics is to use the

Combining Psionic and Magical Effects is s

Or as they are also known.

Psionics–Magic Transparency:

The default rule for the interaction of psionics and magic is simple: powers interact with spells and spells interact with powers in the same way a spell or normal spell-like ability interacts with another spell or spell-like ability. This is known as psionics–magic transparency.

Psionics–Magic Transparency: Though not explicitly called out in the spell descriptions or magic item descriptions, spells, spell-like abilities, and magic items that could potentially affect psionics do affect psionics. When the rule about psionics–magic transparency is in effect, it has the following ramifications.

Spell resistance is effective against powers, using the same mechanics. Likewise, power resistance is effective against spells, using the same mechanics as spell resistance. If a creature has one kind of resistance, it is assumed to have the other. (The effects have similar ends despite having been brought about by different means.)

All spells that dispel magic have equal effect against powers of the same level using the same mechanics, and vice versa.

The spell detect magic detects powers, their number, and their strength and location within 3 rounds (though a Spellcraft check is necessary to identify the discipline of the psionic aura), while detect psionics detects spells, their number, and their strength and location within 3 rounds (though a Spellcraft check is necessary to identify the school of magic).

Dead magic areas are also dead psionics areas.

Unless specifically mentioned in a power’s description, a power cannot be counterspelled when it is being manifested, nor can powers be used to counterspell a spell as it is being cast. Unless specifically stated otherwise, feats such as metamagic feats that specifically affect spells do not affect powers, and feats such as metapsionic feats that specifically affect powers do not affect spells.

Powers or psionic effects usually work as described no matter how many other powers, psionic effects, spells, or magical effects happen to be operating in the same area or on the same recipient. Except in special cases, a power does not affect the way another power or spell operates. Whenever a power has a specific effect on other powers or spells, the power description explains the effect (and vice versa for spells that affect powers). Several other general rules apply when powers, spells, magical effects, or psionic effects operate in the same place. powers that provide bonuses or penalties on attack rolls, damage rolls, saving throws, and other attributes usually do not stack with themselves. More generally, two bonuses of the same type don’t stack even if they come from different powers, or one from a power and one from a spell. You use whichever bonus gives you the better result.

Different Bonus Types: The bonuses or penalties from two different powers, or a power and a spell, stack if the effects are of different types. A bonus that isn’t named (just a “+2 bonus” rather than a “+2 insight bonus”) stacks with any bonus.

Same Effect More than Once in Different Strengths: In cases when two or more similar or identical effects are operating in the same area or on the same target, but at different strengths, only the best one applies. If one power or spell is dispelled or its duration runs out, the other power or spell remains in effect (assuming its duration has not yet expired).

Same Effect with Differing Results: The same power or spell can sometimes produce varying effects if applied to the same recipient more than once. The last effect in a series trumps the others. None of the previous spells or powers are actually removed or dispelled, but their effects become irrelevant while the final spell or power in the series lasts.

One Effect Makes Another Irrelevant: Sometimes, a power can render another power irrelevant.

Multiple Mental Control Effects: Sometimes psionic or magical effects that establish mental control render one another irrelevant. Mental controls that don’t remove the recipient’s ability to act usually do not interfere with one another, though one may modify another. If a creature is under the control of two or more creatures, it tends to obey each to the best of its ability, and to the extent of the control each effect allows. If the controlled creature receives conflicting orders simultaneously, the competing controllers must make opposed Charisma checks to determine which one the creature obeys.

Powers and spells with opposite effects apply normally, with all bonuses, penalties, or changes accruing in the order that they apply. Some powers and spells negate or counter each other. This is a special effect that is noted in a power’s or spell’s description.

Instantaneous Effects: Two or more magical or psionic effects with instantaneous durations work cumulatively when they affect the same object, place, or creature.

Even if I'm not picked I had a lot of fun designing this character. Thank you for this opportunity! And good luck everyone!

** spoiler omitted **...

The last time I played with psionics was a 2E dark sun game. The system was wonky at best.

The system you showed and thank you for that seems fairly straightforward.

When somebody mentioned the similarity to Leverage I started watching the show, and man am I loving it. I'm even more excited about possibly getting to play in this game!

Yep Psionics–Magic Transparency makes life for a GM and for players very simple, if you Psionic is just another form of magic and Vs versa. They fully interact to a point, Meta-feats being the one main thing that is licked to each system as dos cross. With Transparency SR and PR are just the same thing, effects the same, Bonuses the say do not stack, etc it really is very simple.

whos up for a little test roll play.

Simple test RP fun

RP - The Mark:

5,000 gold, it was a good bounty, and for a simple target. A small Gnome merchant, fast and looking slow. The bar was full, The flesh pits tended to be at festival times, bars, working girls, pit fighters. The Gnome had a small army of body guards, she counted 7 and posibly 3 more in the crewed. Or they could be bounty seekers like her, the contact was open, any one could clam it if the got the fat fart, 5,000 alive 2,000 dead. That simple, so there would be others her seeking the bounty. Most would go for dead, taking 2000 for a kill, but she wanted him alive, get the full payday and that was looking to be a real problem. Her cap had her looking like a human betting on the pit fight, but the pit he was at was hard to get close to, to many nobles looking down at some large human killing a bear with his hands. She paid no heed, the bear was summoned so would just come back again for the next fight tomorrow.

she scanning the throng,
Arr what have we here

She spotted others moving,

"So my competitors go's 1st"

Simple RP, fun, take your time, this gnome is hard to get, we can watch each other makes moves etc

It's courteous to not roleplay in a recruitment thread unless the GM specifically asks for it.

Sadly, I'm at my RL TT game and can't give this the attention it deserves.

Silver Crusade

Well High CampinCarl, yep you could be right, but I kind of know this GM likes a wee little bit of In recruitment roll play to hear out the Voices of possible PCs, wink wink say no more
So I think you can forgive me my horrid transgression. Also my bad spelling, poor me, A Dyslexic in a world of Pedants. :0)

Crunch and back story's are fine and good, BUT to hear a PC act and sound helps no end in picking a group. :0)

Note: Its is all under spoiler as well, just in case :))))

Good luck everyone, excited to see how this turns out

Looks to the assembled crowd tugging a bit on his shirt to have it just so and steps from out of the shadow illuminating his well coifed person, bald head gleaming and says "a bit of theatrics has never harmed a soul most esteemed ladies and gentlemen, I think we all would agree to the minstrels ability to quell the savage tone or propel us to ever greater acts of daring-do to be a most fine example, and I think our carefully placed and well spoken member of this assembly from above has only done us a service much like that very same vein as I have been speaking. Thank you one and all for your tender mercies and do remember that all contracts with the council are binding and that those hunting summoned creatures within city boundaries can be subject to a fine or be responsible for the damages."

Silver Crusade

Hi Edelsmirge. long time no see, good to have you here with a fine PC if I may say so. :)

Silver Crusade

Just a heads up, just had word form the GM. NO PSIONICS now

Well, then I'm out. It's annoying that this decision was made after things were closed. It's simply bad form.

Silver Crusade

To be fair, I kind of pushed him into it and he found it all a little harder than he thought it would be, there has been some wacky stuff offered and he's just a little worried to much wacky will kill the game. Blame me if needs be, he was just trying to do his best :)

It still really sucks putting a couple of hours into a game for nothing and not get a chance to refigure anything. As I said, bad form.

Now, if you were really contrite, you'd propose another game for these characters to play in. That would make me forgive you completely.

Alvilda, didn't you say above that the GM had already said 'no monster races'?

I agree that it's not ideal to cut things back after approving them, and that the GM could have been posting these things himself. Perhaps a bit of leeway to allow those who submitted psionic characters to change them wold be fair? Alvilda seems to have done so several times already. To play Devil's Advocate, I've played with this GM before, he's not doing this to be a jerk, and he did initially say 'no 3PP'. It looks as though he gave in to pressure, and then realised that he'd gotten in over his head.

Obviously I can't speak for him, but if it was me, I'd offer those who built psionic characters a second chance to get something together. What do you say, GM? Throw 'em a bone? :D

Silver Crusade

Yep me bad.

Silver Crusade

I didnt say a flat out no to psionics. And Jonny they are called "private messages" for a reason. I dont appreciate you making "Official" statements on my behalf.

My issues were, that there was huge discrepancies with all of your (johnny's) character submissions. And as a GM with no experience with Psionics and not owning the reference material i personally wasnt comfortable with your characters so i gave you the option of resubmitting a character.

You your self stated you dont have Hero lab and that you struggled to put the crunch together, if you cant get it right and i had to call in a more experienced friend to pick up some of your mistakes (if that's what they where, and they weren't intentional attempts to sneak in an overpowered character) then how can i be sure that the game is going to be balanced and fun for everyone.

So are Psionics not allowed? No they are allowed, but i probably am not going to choose one as i'm not comfortabel with the system. Had Johnny's submissions not had issues with them then i probably wouldnt have this opinion. Sorry if that rules a few of you out, but its my game and i have to think about the overall experience for everyone involved as well as the longevity of the game itself.

I'm pretty close to my final decision and i hope to have the list of successful players up tonight or first thing tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience and understanding im trying to be as transparent as possible.

Thank you for clarifying.

Silver Crusade

Ok I was a little annoyed, no strike that! very annoyed, But not now, What went wrong was this, lack of clear communication. On both our parts.

you asked me to submit an interesting PC to play because you liked my playing style and we had fun on another thread. Then a whole load of Confused PMs and posts. It happens some times, thing to do is get over it and move on, while learning from it. That is the best outcome.
But you where very unclear and send confusing Signals. I will put this down to Inexperience on your part, and for that I will forgive just about anything. One can't be annoyed as someone who is tying and making mistakes, we have all done it. I did it with rushing that Gnome.

I will offer this advice, with out anger or frustration,

Next time
1: Make your mind up what you want and can handle, Know your own limits.
2: Then Be clear on communicating that to possible players.
3: State Clearly, No/yes to -> Templates, Monster races, Gestalt, Down time, Pre-game Crafting, 3PP/3.5 stuff Hero points, Honour system, Mythic, Leadership feat or Pisonics.
4: Wait to being them in until you know the systems well.
5: Have fun :0)

I will drop out at this point, think it best as I really do not have a PC that fits to play and my ideas that are don't match what's now on the table for the game.

So saying that, Have a good game, one and all.

Silver Crusade

Im not going to get into a he says she argument. The next time i will post will be with the list of successful players.

Silver Crusade

Ok thanks for your patience everyone, with out further adieu the luck players are;

Edelsmirge - Morgrym Black

SCKnightHero1 - Zaci

adsapiens - Krayn La'jal

CampinCarl9127 - Maldrek Kasidra

ScubaSteve93 - Zikamiri

El Ronza - Elenora

Congrats guys.

The reasons behind my selections were based on a couple of different things. Firstly back story, most of these characters had a well thought out story that suited their character choices and abilites.

Secondly they each have a niche in the role that they will play in the group dynamic but at the same time there is only some small over lap of skills so there is some back up.

it was a tough choice and there were a few good entries that were so close.

thanks to everyone that submitted a concept and GL on your other games.

The players above please report to the discussion thread and have your main stats set up in your class/description.

cheers

Yay thanks!! To the Fulcrum, I say!

Silver Crusade

I am not surprised, I suck at backstories. Have fun all
