Silver Crusade

You have been summoned to the Council of Thieves, a rare invitation that few ever receive.

You stand in an opulent hall carved out of solid stone, intricate carvings decorate tall stone pillars depicting angels and demons locked in eternal conflict and thick tapestries in myriads of colours line the walls, all of which would be fit for any king’s throne room.

You know you are deep beneath the city of Westcrown in ancient catacombs, but only because that is what the rumors of this place say, you have no way of knowing for sure as you were blindfolded on your way here.

Before you sit 8 figures on a raised dais each in different coloured robes, large wooden chairs frame them and each chair is carved with tiny and delicate patterns and each chair’s carvings seeming finer and more delicate then the next.

The figures in front of you wear silver expressionless mask, with no holes that you can perceive and molded lips sealed shut, yet you can tell that they see you.

A figure in a thick red and brown robe toward the center of the dais raises an arm and with a gloved finger points towards you and your companions. “You are the best” a man’s voice booms from behind the mask, he’s voice clearly amplified by magic.

You look around to your companions wondering if it’s a questions or a statement, or if he is talking to anyone of you in particular.

“You will need to be” the masked man continues “For anyone, less than the best; this is a one way trip.”

About:
This is a custom campaign that i wrote incorporating a few different references from a few different Ap's (such as council of thieves)

To get an idea of what to expect, think bank heist, But not like any movie you have ever seen.

Your part of a crew of thieves and the successful group will be a well rounded team (not all rogues). Considering that your characters tend to NOT be upstanding citizens this means that this campaign is open to Evil Characters*

I'm looking for 4-6 players

*Alignments allowed are LN, N, NE, LE - NO CE and No Good :)

Here are the guide lines for character creation

Character Creation Rules:

- Starting at LVL 8
- 20 Point Buy
- Max HP per level
- All races are legal ("out-there" races with need good justification via back story)
- Alignments allowed are LN, N, NE, LE - NO CE and No Good
- No PVP, you are a team and it is assumed you have worked together before
- 2 traits, 3rd if you take a drawback
- No third party matierials
- All Paizo books allowed

I don't mind optimized builds, in fact i encourage you to do so as i will be throwing tough challenges your way. However I will expect decent back stories to back up your character creation.

Extra Info:

This campaign has multiple ending depending on the choices of your group during play.

It is 65/35 Combat/RP focus, there is plenty of opportunity for expansion on the role play and depending on the group i might create some additional Non-combat encounters.

I expect a minimum of 1 post per day, i would like to achieve 2 posts per day from the group if possible.

I'm flexible if RL comes up and we need to take breaks as long as there is communication.

I'm unsure how long this will take to do as a PBP, i'm thinking minimum 6 months.

Prestige Classes are fine as is MultiClassing and Varient Multiclassing is all good.

No Stamina System However.

This seems like a very fun homebrew campaign. I have an idea for an Investigator (Mastermind)/Master Spy. Very skill and utility heavy. I do have a question though. What do you mean by 65% "combat"? When I read the description and goals of this campaign, I'm thinking heavy subterfuge and planning and infiltration. When you say combat, do you mean people swinging weapons at each other, or do you mean us facing physical problems as opposed to roleplaying ones?


Are we expected to be stealthy in this game, or is charging in guns blazing an option?

Also, are we using Golarion deities or a custom set?

Aaand one more question: how do you feel about using the Automatic Bonus Progression rules from Unchained?

Q: Guns? how common?
Thinking of a small cannon strapped to its arm, if not then think Large repeating crossbow on one arms and some large rung of force shield on the other.

The Idea is he looks normal and dull until the party gets in bad combat, then He suits up and acts as a focus for attacks while the sneaky PC types pick off back stab and be mean to the attackers.

He's a gun for hire, you contract him and he will do the contract to the letter.

Intensify spell does effect magic missile, but not in the way you're thinking. Intensify spell increased the maximum number of damage dice by 5 levels. That does not mean they increase the die amount by 5 levels, that means you treat the maximum number of dice allowed by the spell as 5 caster levels higher. Since magic missile normally caps out at CL 9, an intensified magic missile would cap out at CL 14, which means you would get 7d4+7 for damage.

Yes regional human languages could possibly be involved, as will monster languages.

Only having common as a language isnt going to hinder your character, put having access to a few more languages would defiantly open up some other dialogue options for your group.

AKA if your not going to invest into full Linguist then maybe pic up a scroll or 2 of Comprehend languages.

No Worries Tech, I am good either way. My concept is to use MM as a distraction more than damage per say. By the way do you allow MM to target individual targets. i.e. If I come across a room with say 3 folks in it. Can I target each one with as many as I choose.


My questions were mostly due to a high intelligence score and having just a few bonus languages. But yes, I'll pick up some magic and take care of it. I have the crunch for my character done and I'm currently working on gear and fluff. He's far from done, but if you want to take a peek at what I'm working at here is the link. Definitely going to be an interesting background. He's going to be one of those meticulous mastermind criminals who's more likely to be bothered by somebody messing up his daily schedule than a cold blooded murder.

As per the spell description it can target single or multiple targets.

The campaign setting is homebrew, but im not big on changing the system. I like the PF system so i dont really feel the need to mess with it too much.

Building a master of infiltration and subterfuge is hard when it comes to gear. I've spent 8000gp and haven't even gotten to weapons, armor, or slotted wondrous items yet.

Campingcarl - possibly, i think that might be something we do during the start of the game once your characters have been given the assignment.

Sort of a preping for the heist phase if you will.

There are plenty of diverse ideas here already, but I'm surprised due to the setting that their are no true "rogue" type applications yet. With that in mind, I think a ninja would work well from the information you've given. Therefore, I will make a Fetchling Ninja and get him up ASAP.


If psionics are allowed, I have a couple more ideas.


Here is Zikamiri, Fetchling Ninja. He focuses on archery and stealth, but is quite flexible in and out of combat. Please let me know if I missed anything, and thank you for the consideration.


Have an idea for a halfling sniper slayer. He'll be a rescued slave from Cheliax originally, who tends to go back because he holds a grudge against their leadership and enjoys offing them. Very, very stealthy.

as for your first question about stealth or gun's blazing.

Well that depends on your group. This is a group heist.

Do i expect every character to be stealthy? No! a well rounded group will have several people who are good at different things for example;

1. The safe cracker
2. The muscle
3. The Mastermind
4. The escape artist
6. The con man/woman (aka the face)
7. The gadget guy
8. The guy who knows somebody that get get they thing you want
9. The explosives expert
10. The Fence
11. The Cat burglar

These are all just ideas of roles your character might play, whats important to me is;

A) a Rich and enticing backstory - Why are you here, how did you get here ect..

B) Stats and the role your character will play

In that order :)

backstory:

Jiyoki was born here, far from the lands of her ancestors. Born on a night of falling stars. Her other trained her in the ways of face-shifting, the ways of seeing what people wanted and showing that on your face. Mother was a courtesan, playing men and stealing their secrets. Sadly, such business runs the risk of angering powerful men. She faced her fate well.

Jiyoki soon began to show other talents. Odd magics without words. Ways to twist the minds of men. Speaking mind-to-mind and even striking their mind. She's used these talents to survive in a harsh world. Even to thrive. Learning from her mother's mistakes, she did not frequent the same people, but preyed on merchants and travelers.

well the marksman ought to be able to put down 4d8 damage once a round with vital strike. full BAB too. Just not a stand-up front-line melee guy.

there are a lot of ideas i have that might fit into this, some maybe even melee, but the deadline is a bit short for me to build a character of a class i am not at least passingly familiar with.
