So currently both Lem and Kyra are stuck and need to make CM check of 18 to move away.
To assist them you have to be in an adjacant square. If your assist fails (Combat manouvre vs DC10) you'll get 1d6 fire/cold, but you won't be caught in the blast yourself.
if you move into the blast range you DO risk getting caught!
(Blast range=the three cubes in front of one of the traps)
Let's do rounds to keep things clear:
Round 1:
Seelah
Lini & Droogami
Traps
Lem
Kyra

"All right, I presume my 'holy butt' is needed again, right? Already on it, no worries. Although strike the 'holy,' I guess."
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Edit: Hmm, seems my post eats the text why I roll the dice. It's supposed to say "Assist Lem in CMB check."

since lem just got damaged , shouldn't he be before the trap in initiative? otherwise you're going to pummel him twice with damage before he gets to act to break free, without really throwing us into initiatives...
after the trap damages me again :
channel energy : 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
2nd channel of the day iirc

Yes, but I 'used' his "Aid another" roll for a try and aid yourself roll instead. So he was caught, took damage, tried to get out and failed.

when its her turn...
while channelling and trying to at least stand her ground, kyra frantically looks around the statues for any kind of markings or writing
not that she's very widely literate, but she's starting to worry.

Maybe if someone stronger stands in front of the blast, Lem can escape. Oh where's Valeros when you need him...
lini, you and droo can roll to assist. its your phase of the round. GM was just saying since lem is waiting for assistance, he should wait until his turn to roll the actual CMB check. dunno if droo has the assist trick, but you can probably push him with a move action to bite onto a non fleshy bit and pull .

Indeed. However, there is only room enough for two creatures to assist (on this side of the blast)
| GM Auke |
The traps deal their damage.
Fire: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Cold: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Next round (2).
Lem tries to escape (with two assists), but fails.
Kyra channels.
I assume Seelah will spiderclimb to get into a position to aid while permitting Lini and Droogami to aid as well and all three will try to assist?
Assists vs CMD 10
Seelah: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Droogami: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Lini: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
+6 on Lem's next attempt!
The traps deal their damage (again!)
Fire: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Cold: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Next round! (3)
BTW, Lem, please make a choice which side you want to escape to!

i'd have them pull you through, climbing down in the other room is looking very appealing right now.
btw. do the traps need to continue to beat our CMD in order to keep dealing damage? or do they just automatically deal damage after the first success, round after round?
Kyra channels again, pull him away, then come around the long way and get me if you can.
channel positive energy: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
[net 6 damage i can't reach the game map right now to adjust. iirc i've taken 6, 8, 9, (9), 9, (3). so still alive for now]

Ah, looks like it needs to roll vs CMD each round indeed!
Trap vs Kyra CMD 15
vs CMD 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
vs CMD 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
vs CMD 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Trap vs Lem CMD 13
vs CMD 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
vs CMD 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
vs CMD 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Using the Tshirt reroll of the shirt Auke just borrowed me (+2 GM star)
[Dice=CMB] 1d20+1+6+2
You just borrowed from me/I just lended to you
With a push from Seelah a pull from Lini and Droogami picking Lem up like a cat would do with a kitten, Lem finally manages to breaks free!

I don't know how Lini and Droogami can help Kyra this round, but officially they do have an action.

Why, Seelah, i've never noticed how strong you are. Can you give me a lift to the other side with the others so we can go around this together? I think this has brought us all closer together.
can you carry me over the flames and cold back to the others while the spider climb lasts ?

Spiderclimb lasts 30 minutes, should be enough, but Kyra has to hold on to Seelah, as she needs her hands to climb the wall.
| Seelah_PbP |
Okay, I got a little confused, didn't realise the Spider Climb was on me. Apologies. >_>
"Er, well, thanks, I guess," Seelah stammers, not quite sure how to react. "Maybe you could piggyback while I climbed the walls? But no butt-pinching, let's keep this professional. Or at least until the mission's over," she adds with a wink.
kyra_the_brave
|
yeah, wow, sorry for that folks, avoids pinching butt. but you can see on her face she's really tempted.
did NOT expect traps here. distracted me, i just wanted to get closer and see what was magical in the room. and well, stairs beats rope... ::sigh::
but i'm definitely convinced of the simple values of climbing rope now. lets go back and climb down into the room and see what that magical aura is.
| GM Auke |
Someone else is going to need to take lead for a bit, partner's dad is in the hospital so we will be in "middle of nowhere, Alabama" for the next 3 days, I'll have cell service so I can post a few times a day, but they won't exactly be prize-winning
Ok, hope all will work out in Alabama!
It seems the rest of the group isn't using their player knowledge too much (as they rushed headlong into a series of deadly traps), so they should be ok! We'll follow the rule of two (when a suggestion is seconded, that is the way the party goes).
kyra_the_brave
|
oh no, deliberately not using my ooc knowledge. lol i was this close to looking up the trap, but i figured i'd look at it again after. i did name her kyra the brave after all =)
kyra borrows the rope, knots it delicately while whistling to Lem's tune. looks around for something to tie it to. casts detect magic again, checks the auras in the room, and then climbs down, motioning for seelah and the rest to follow.
| Seelah_PbP |
Knotted rope next to a wall is DC 0. Taking 10 means I hit 4. Woo!
Seelah plonks down next to Kyra. "So, we're back here. Let's finally explore where these auras are coming from."
I'm heading for whatever aura Kyra will point out, hopefully with some backup nearby.
| GM Auke |
Ok, Seelah seconded Kyra's plan, so that is what is happening.
Kyra goes down first, but just before she reaches the floor a wild goblin appears from under the NE table!
Surprise Round!
The goblin is clearly special as he has vials inserted in his head! The three vials are filled with respectively a Red, Purple and Green liquid.
The red liquid bubbles and drains a little and the goblins muscles bulge! He swings his axe towards the climbing cleric.
"Snarltongue will kill intruders for master!"
Rage, Power attack, Mighty Blow
To Hit vs flatfooted AC: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 2 = 24 for damage: 1d6 + 6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 6 + 2 = 20
The blow hits Kyra hard Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2, but she manages to hold on to the rope!
Lem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Seelah: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Kyra: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Lini: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Droogami: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Snarltongue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

The red liquid bubbles violently again, the goblins eyes bulge and his mouth foams.
"SNARLTONGUE SLASHES!" as his axe goes towards Sarenrae's favored.
Rage, Power attack
To Hit: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 10 - 2 = 20 Touche!
Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 6 = 15
A heavy blow and only Kyra's faith keeps her standing.
The purple liquid bubbles, and the goblin seems to fade away!
Kyra (staggered)
Droogami
Seelah
Lini
Lem (inspire courage)
Snarltongue
| GM Auke |
Thanks for the reminder of Spider Climb. >_>
Seelah climbs down, if she can while holding a heavy shield, then draws her longsword downstairs. That's two moves.
I assume you stowed your shield already, cause you need your hands free to spiderclimb. So climb down and draw your sword (as part of a move) and then get your shield out. That's two moves ;-)
