So currently both Lem and Kyra are stuck and need to make CM check of 18 to move away.

To assist them you have to be in an adjacant square. If your assist fails (Combat manouvre vs DC10) you'll get 1d6 fire/cold, but you won't be caught in the blast yourself.

if you move into the blast range you DO risk getting caught!
(Blast range=the three cubes in front of one of the traps)

since lem just got damaged , shouldn't he be before the trap in initiative? otherwise you're going to pummel him twice with damage before he gets to act to break free, without really throwing us into initiatives...

after the trap damages me again :

Yes, but I 'used' his "Aid another" roll for a try and aid yourself roll instead. So he was caught, took damage, tried to get out and failed.

Ok, please don't roll anything till it's actually your turn. You can state your action, but as the result might influence other peoples actions, don't roll anything! (For instance, Lem would need a total of 3 assists, but as he only gets two, the others might do something else instead)

not that she's very widely literate, but she's starting to worry.

Ok, I see Spider Climb, Owl's Wisdom, and Barkskin, call me dense but I am not seeing what I can do for her, I mean I could spider climb up and over to her and help, but I suspect the ice/fire blasts are big enough that really doesn't matter

Maybe if someone stronger stands in front of the blast, Lem can escape. Oh where's Valeros when you need him...

lini, you and droo can roll to assist. its your phase of the round. GM was just saying since lem is waiting for assistance, he should wait until his turn to roll the actual CMB check. dunno if droo has the assist trick, but you can probably push him with a move action to bite onto a non fleshy bit and pull .

the corridor is 10 feet high, the blast only gets up to 5 feet, so spiderclimb will indeed let someone (it's a targeted spell, so you don't have to cast it on yourself) get into a position to help Kyra without risking getting caught in the fire blast

Indeed. However, there is only room enough for two creatures to assist (on this side of the blast)


Ok, Lini takes out a scroll of spiderclimb and casts it on Kyra.

She instructs Droogami to 'fetch' the Halfling. I'm feeling generous!

The traps deal their damage.

btw. do the traps need to continue to beat our CMD in order to keep dealing damage? or do they just automatically deal damage after the first success, round after round?

I don't know how Lini and Droogami can help Kyra this round, but officially they do have an action.

How Kyra can survive the traps (well... about 98% chance she will):
You can use one of your GM boons for an extra +4 (Paragon of Society). Combined with your GM stars and the assist, chances will be quite good. (d20+5+2+4 for the first roll and d20+5+2+4+5 on the second)

Lem uses 3 wand charges to heal back up to full and Kyra uses 5 to do the same.

Spiderclimb lasts 30 minutes, should be enough, but Kyra has to hold on to Seelah, as she needs her hands to climb the wall.

Lini gives Droogi a soft pet on the neck, praising her, then looks at the corridor before them, "So, how do we plan getting past this, I fear giving us "barkskin" before running through fire would not be the wisest course of action, but we have two traps between us and the next room...."


If I'm not mistaken the plan is to get Kyra back to the rest of the party and take another route, ignoring those traps.


Kyra piggybacks a spiderclimbing Seelah and the party is reunited! :-)

yeah, wow, sorry for that folks, avoids pinching butt. but you can see on her face she's really tempted.

did NOT expect traps here. distracted me, i just wanted to get closer and see what was magical in the room. and well, stairs beats rope... ::sigh::

but i'm definitely convinced of the simple values of climbing rope now. lets go back and climb down into the room and see what that magical aura is.

Ok, hope all will work out in Alabama!

It seems the rest of the group isn't using their player knowledge too much (as they rushed headlong into a series of deadly traps), so they should be ok! We'll follow the rule of two (when a suggestion is seconded, that is the way the party goes).

oh no, deliberately not using my ooc knowledge. lol i was this close to looking up the trap, but i figured i'd look at it again after. i did name her kyra the brave after all =)

kyra borrows the rope, knots it delicately while whistling to Lem's tune. looks around for something to tie it to. casts detect magic again, checks the auras in the room, and then climbs down, motioning for seelah and the rest to follow.

Knotted rope next to a wall is DC 0. Taking 10 means I hit 4. Woo!

Seelah plonks down next to Kyra. "So, we're back here. Let's finally explore where these auras are coming from."

I'm heading for whatever aura Kyra will point out, hopefully with some backup nearby.


Ok, Seelah seconded Kyra's plan, so that is what is happening.

Kyra goes down first, but just before she reaches the floor a wild goblin appears from under the NE table!

Surprise Round!

The goblin is clearly special as he has vials inserted in his head! The three vials are filled with respectively a Red, Purple and Green liquid.

The red liquid bubbles and drains a little and the goblins muscles bulge! He swings his axe towards the climbing cleric.

"Snarltongue will kill intruders for master!"

Rage, Power attack, Mighty Blow
To Hit vs flatfooted AC: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 2 = 24 for damage: 1d6 + 6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 6 + 2 = 20

The blow hits Kyra hard Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2, but she manages to hold on to the rope!

A heavy blow and only Kyra's faith keeps her standing.

The purple liquid bubbles, and the goblin seems to fade away!

I assume you stowed your shield already, cause you need your hands free to spiderclimb. So climb down and draw your sword (as part of a move) and then get your shield out. That's two moves ;-)
