By the way, did the sleep, drunken as it was, actually restore her? Or no?

She's not drunk any longer, no. ^^

Actually, I meant her mythic power, spells per day, etc.

Anything restored through eight hours of rest is restored. Anything you'd need to memorize/prepare has not been.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

I... I forgot 1s weren't auto-fail for skills. XD

Even though it's not an automatic failure, I'm actually glad that I had Fae (at least partially) fail. It feels "right" for some reason at this point. She's feeling badly about the source of Della's insecurities about her, and how she might have made things worse for the woman despite herself.

Hence, she's dejected, in a bar, and has no idea where she's going. It works.

(Also: awesomely fun story stuff, by the way! EEEEFFFFFFF-FFFFIIIIVVVEEEE!)

EDIT: Hahah! The timing of your post and this one was great!

Also, I find Hexy's response interesting. She apparently likes a high charisma, and has a strong reaction to any sort of an alpha presence. Hm.

EDIT 2/3: I'm great at noticing thing! (Ahem) Just saw the link recently. Added it to Hexy's sheet. XD

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

A song or two to play by.

Also.

(The second, much like this is, in my opinion, as a cover, better than the original versions.)

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

The countess is the bestest.

Also, last post for the night. :)

Good night! God bless you!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

And thus ends the second life of Hexy.

Sigh.

She does tend to do these things to herself, doesn't she?

Anyway, I wanted to take this opportunity to say that my wife has started following this thread, and thinks it's a ton of fun! She can't wait to see what adventures Hexy gets into next! XD

Also, it's about time for me to mention...

PLAYER VERSUS CHARACTER!!!
That's right, Bob, everyone here, welcome to "Player v. Character" where the player shares some out-of-character suspicions that the character, naturally, has NO idea about! Let's see what we have behind suspicion numbeeerrrr ooooooOOOOOONNNNNNNNNEEEEE~!!

My wife and I were chatting about Hexy moments last night, and she mentioned something that had occurred to me, but certainly not to Hexy: the fact that it's likely that Vincent is in an arranged marriage, and that he doesn't love or necessarily even like whoever the bride-to-be is: something that Hexy would find both confusing and repugnant.
(In general, she would question: why bother with this at all? Why not just call the marriage off? Why not just leave and start over somewhere else if 'social pressure' or whatever is involved? What the literal and figurative <CENSORED! for PG-13>?)

She also asked if Hexy even knew what marriage is, which is a fair (and interesting) question. The answer is sort of, or, at least, she's aware of marriage as that tool that she uses to seduce and break others because she looks like their spouse, after playing mind-games with them.

Which, you know, is a pretty awful thing.

Hence, she'd be strongly (and morally!) against marriage by, for, or to whomever it was that was getting married... if she actually cared for that person. Because, from her perspective, marriage is the final tool to break someone in mind games - sure they'd last longer if they were committed to someone else (i.e. married), but it's a much more painful breakdown when "it was H'ecks-pha-czu'whaugh the whole time" eventually comes around - something she doesn't want (and she's not even going to pretend to believe that she's unique in that regard - she birthed succubi into existence).

Anyway, the final thought in my cap that is not in Hexy's - spurred, actually, entirely by the conversation with my wife last night - is that Vincent's fear is founded on the fact that he's engaged... to a monster.

He is terrified of them, and hates them... because he's engaged to one.

And... just spit-balling... but I could see either Connie or, even better, Della, as the candidate for it. Connie due to his reaction to seeing her (trying to hide and keep others from bringing her attention), and Della because of her thoughtful state the next day. While these could (of course) be entirely incorrect, they're certainly ideas that gave me pause after I had them, and were really cool to ponder about.

That would be rather amusing, wouldn't it? ^^ It's wrong, though.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Aw, maaaaaaaan... I especially like the idea that he was betrothed to Della. :D

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Point of clarity: she's crying not because she's 'sad' about something 'sad', but rather from humiliation at her other self and the rejection that comes along with it.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Second point of clarity: H'ecks-pha-czu'whaugh's swear-filled rant in the circle and demands is her method of attempting to enter the negotiation that comes with the binding.

That's what I meant by "demands and desires" (or whatever it was that I actually wrote): she was demanding all sorts of things in exchange for her services, which she was trying to get through quickly.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

For the GM's information/understanding!

(Considering a GM has infinite insight into everything...)

.

Hexy is willing to make a differentiation between morality (good v. evil) and ethics (law v. chaos) in regards to pleasing Marmael and Elysium.

She is (mostly) willing to waive the ethics for the sake of the morality. Conversely, save for her one particular weakness (as noted to the Countess) she is uninterested in waiving the morality.

This, much like her agreement with Asmodeus, is the reason she doesn't guarantee anything - who can say what would befall her, or what could change her mind in the future.

Instead, she's willing - more than willing - to make a good-faith effort into doing the right thing, insomuch as she understands it.

She gets that the taxes go to fight demons and keep people safe.

Sounds moral enough.

She also gets that there might be elements that she doesn't understand at play, here (considering that, since she arrived, there's been nothing but elements that she doesn't understand at play, here*).

Thus, if whatever it is proves evil, she will abandon the project.

If this isn't acceptable to the Countess, she'll more or less sit in her circle and slowly weaken and starve for as long as she has to. Even if this time she's 'finished' - even if Death doesn't give her a second reprieve - she's doing this for someone else, Marmael and Elysium both, and that's, ultimately, what she finds to be a higher cause.

She believes the Countess isn't evil. She doesn't know the Countess isn't evil.

She, above all, knows how subtle evil can be - going so far as to masquerade as good - for the purpose of manipulating those who seek good.

(Also, she's chaotic and chafes at the idea of unmitigated magically-enforced promises - but this is a secondary concern, rather than primary, unlike the case of Asmodeus.)

* Society, amirite?!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that this is a really awesome game. I love your poetic descriptions, dramatic dialogue, and well-written characters. Thank you!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

More musical inspiration for Hexy! :D

(I ran into a few more in my long, long car ride today... but I've forgotten them! XD)

Inspiration is always good to have. ^^ *Tries to get a lot of it*

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

It's clearly working! :D

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Reference rolling: oh, okay! I didn't know. Some GMs prefer a roll for each person or each argument.

Also, the second bluff wasn't bluff: it was diplomacy. Oops! Sorry! That's what I get for copy/pasting for speed!

The first CHA check was for the boy, the second for his father.

Hope that helps clarify the intent!

I'll work on rolling less. Thanks! :D

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Oh, hey: I made a playlist! I don't think it all applies equally well, but some of it does fairly well. (Also, I'm just kind of hooked on the whole "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" alt-take, so, you know, that has a higher representation than it probably should, as Hexy isn't really about ruling anything, per se, so much as just getting her groove back.)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So... the Goddess' New Groove? I suppose that would work as an excellent tale of our lives, but, sigh, their heads keep exploding when we're too fabulous. It's very sad, really - mortal bodies should be sturdier.

(Fe)male Half-Elf (currently) Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 2 / Oracle 2 / Ranger 2 | HP: 36/36 | AC: 18, T: 12, FF: 18 | Fort: 9, Reflex: 7, Will: 7 | CMB: +4, CMD: 18 | Init: +0 | Perception: +7 (lowlight vision, darkvision 30) | Sense Motive: +5 | MP 2/5 |

I know! What is with these things' fragility! Weaksauce.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Spent the last fifteen minutes or so trying to submit a really simple post. Goblins, goblins, and then iPad slowness. I still don't know if the post worked or not. I can't load the gameplay page on my iPad. And after I worked so hard at dice coding, too!

The summary: she shrugged, went with the new guy, and rolled a diplomacy while helping him out.

She's looking at making friends, influencing people, and subtly getting information, though it's a long con kind of deal.

Have no idea if this post will work or not.

Ooh! Copy/paste! iPad a go-go!

Quote:

Fae blinks. How odd. She nods, turns, and follow.

"Hello, sir. Call me Fae!" she says brightly, keeping pace with the man. "I'm looking for a place to stay, and was commended to you. So... uh... would you mind?" she asks sweetly. "I... kinda don't have anywhere else to go." she explains, while helping him with whatever task he points out.

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Yay, for the elimination of double posts! Thanks, mods!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

This works fairly well for Hexy, too. In some ways rather surprisingly so.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

That is... rather... awesome.

I need some time to wrap my head around him, and figure out what, exactly, he'd do in-character.

Added to that, I've got a lot on my schedule today, so I'm not sure when, exactly, I'll be able to get back to this.

Sorry for the delay.

Otherwise: this is pretty great!

EDIT: Oh, yeah, do you want me to make or use a specific alias, since I'm running a different character at this time, or do you want me to just use the "Heksfazia, the Neverdemon" alias?

Hah, don't worry about the timing - can't expect people to devote all day, every day to a game. Besides, I need breaks, too!

If you need any help figuring out his character, I'll see if I can come up with more details for you. ^^

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Thanks!

I'm curious a few things:
- his wife's name (I accept all sorts of things for this) :)
- his religion (if any)
- if his oldest child is in town/moved out/etc, if any of his children have died (and of what)
- if he trusts anyone in town more than others
- what he sees (Fae still there/dead? Is the girl taking Fae somewhere? Stirges? Etc.)

After that, I think I should be able to come up with something.
(The most important is the last, naturally - if you don't have any particular ideas for any one element, that's fine: just let me know, and I'll make something up in-character!)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

-Tina

-He worships Desna

-His five children are alive, and all still live in the town (oldest is approaching adult, youngest you met when you arrived)

-He trusts his family and the other farmers - a little less trusting of both the mayor and, at the moment, Shel's family

-He sees Fae being felled by the stirges and dragged towards area K3 (third map). The others don't know he's there - think of Viorec as an excellent woodsman and very good at not being seen, especially at night.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Hah! Juuuuuussst as I sit down to make a post in this game, dinner is served. Dinner is "with family" time. Later, then. Tonight, if I at all can manage it!

EDIT: Oh yeah, specific Alias, a "generic NPC"-type of Alias (either my Herald of All, or something new I make for this), or just my normal "Heksfazia, the Neverdemon", if you have a preference for how I post as him?

I have no preference. ^^ Do whatever you'd like.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

First, I'd like to apologize about my expressed frustration.

When things like that happen to Hexy, it's kind of funny - she's spec'd badly enough, and it's in-character enough because of it.

When it completely undermines a character's nature and is part of a trend, it becomes really annoying to me. Especially when I feel like I've a responsibility to a character other than mine.

Hence: my apologies, and thank you.

You seem to be thanking me far more often than you're frustrated. ^^ I'm not seeing a problem here. This is your game - do as you feel is best.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Kind of overwhelmed time-wise today. Sorry: I'll try to post at some point, but visiting family, sink-fixing, and house cleaning = a lot of time consumed!

Real-life happens. XD Don't worry about it!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Hm. Thought I'd made that post a looooooong time ago. Nope!

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

My wife is currently in the hospital. Don't worry: we're all fine, and things should return to normal soon, but any lack of posting is due to real life interruptions! :)

Prayers are always appreciated! :D

I'm certainly not expecting/wanting you to post at a time like this. ^^ My prayers will be with both of you.

Thread for the curious!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Woo! And I'm guessing this will be on hold for (at least) a few more days while you're busy. That's fine - I've been amusing myself by just doing a written version of the adventure paths, complete with annotations for the dice rolls on a randomizer. XD

...I clearly have too much free time.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

*Winces* Repeated failures from the randomizer while facing a horde of goblins... ouch! XD And I am once again reminded of the fact that even the best-prepared team can be completely undone by poor dice rolls... though at least I think they can survive this.

(Yes, I'm pressing full-speed ahead on my story adaptation of an adventure path! It entertains me when you're not around, and I'm closing in on the hundred-page mark. XD)

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Sounds awesome! XD
(It's what I'd do!)

GM Rednal wrote:
But if you'd like me to switch to story-based levels on your table, Tactics, I'd be happy to. ^^

If you like! It seemed it was something that would make things easier on you, and I'm all about making things easier on the GM, where it's not awful to play as. I run plot-based levels myself in most cases, so I'm all down with that if that's how you want it.

Alas, I'll miss my RP-XP, but that's no reason not to change up! :D

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't think there's a "wrong" way to go about it, really - and the surprise of a new level can be fun, too. XD We'll be doing that from here on out, then.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Putting this over here for easier/less contentious discussion.

RE: invisibility and sneak attack

Two things:
- I thought you became visible (even with a ring) after attack
- Sneak attack is one of the weaker choices in the game because of how hard it is to set up and get out

One of the reason's Sevia is as powerful as she is is her ability to become invisible, but she still does not deal a consistent damage output equal or greater than a dedicated warrior - with her feat selection she is not optimized to be a fighter or a paladin - she's focusing on dual wielding instead of two-handing for instance, and a high DEX build.
(Hexy, by comparison, has gone the two-handing route, but she's no where near as good at it, because of her puny strength, and she's done nothing with it, mechanically.)

Predominantly, she's a ninja (i.e. "better rogue") with a useful damage trick or two (invisibility or fleet charge) and using the other elements to support that (spells, base attack, and hit points). Later, she'll probably slowly switch into using her spells more.

The good thing about her build is that it's fairly DAD: so long as she pumps up charisma and dexterity, she's doing pretty well.

But she would be vastly out damaged by a solid and strength-focused mythic fighting two-hander. (It would also be a less interesting character, over-all, with fewer skills). Because despite her great tricks, she can't get off all of her specialties every round. Even if she could, the extra damage doesn't multiply on criticals. And she can't get as many static sources.

Her higher base attack helps with that a lot, but... meh.

In that spirit, I'm going to ask of a house rule. You may feel free to say "no" and make tweaks to it, as desired. You may present it to Sevia, or not.

link

And

http://paizo.com/campaigns/GobSmashOne/recruiting&page=3#103

The idea is, instead of 1d6/odd level, or even +2/odd level, it's level+1 damage, multiplies on a crit, and functions for any condition as well as anything that would allow sneak attack to function.

As I'm not trying to sneak anything by you with it, feel free to review it, post a more comprehensive (if you like) set of revised rules (mine is currently light, I know; that's on purpose: I like to reward clever play with bonuses, so I can add this in when it seems pertinent), or just explain that you'll heavily adjucate it more. Or, of course, reject it! :D your choice!

No rush.

Also: blllllaaaaaagggghhhh looking things up and linking with an iPad is a paaaaaiiiiiinnnnnn. :p
;D

Yes, you do become visible after the first attack while (normally) invisible - do you don't get sneak attack damage if you're doing multiple attacks. That's the point, and what I was agreeing with. XD As for that house rule, I think I'll pass.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

House rule: As you like! It's there for your perusal, even though you aren't interested at this time. :)

As for the other ruling by JJ: okay. I, personally, don't like the rule as a GM, as it really hurts rogues and other sn am attack specialists, but, as you're the GM of this one, that's fine. :)
